OK cool man thanks for getting caught up, but we don't have to go at a breakneck pace either if you guys dont want. I'll play it by year, see who else is around.


Pace is a little fast, but hasn't been an issue yet. Where were at now I can handle on a good day. Feel free to bot Ridley if need be though.

Maps seem to be working out just fine as is, so I don't think we need to worry about the roll20 thing.


Cool Ridley. If you can do Knowledge Religion or local you should attempt the check you missed, to ID the cultists.

Hey Alrik I've never made a paladin fall in 20 years of DM'ing but this seems like an unequivical fall to me. I know I said I wanted a gritty game but I wasn't expecting anything like this. We'll figure it out to your satisfaction one way or the other but do you think the simplest thing might be to just bust out the hexcrafter in case we aren't in sync about paladin codes in the future?

@Alex Mack, sorry for the bad communication on my part, I know I practically begged for someone to play a paladin, and even mentioned I don't mind gritty paladins or something to that effect. I appreciate you stepping up to fill that roll. I also remember being shaky and unclear about what magus builds I would or wouldn't allow which may have been a factor.

I don't know how far you got with the hexcrafter build but if it's ready to go it just seems like it might prevent problems if you switch. If you don't want to though that's cool we'll work it out.

Sorry if it seems like I'm over-reacting, just thinking out loud really.

In the mean-time you guys still got a monk to kill.

Where's the issue? Alrik took out the minstrel who just now attacked him. Don't see where that is in disacord with any Paladin codes...

Ahh I see Minstrel gives up. Missed that part. If so Alrik of course wouldn't attack him. Sorry gotta get used to yyou're style of maneuvering combat.

Easier to just say that Alrik hit the bard with nonlethal damage. Put him down like I did to Renard.

Or, now that I'm home from work and can post, I can do that damage (assuming he hits) and prevent Alrik's attack completely.

Unfortunately dungeoneering and engineering are the only Know's I took (though I'm not really sure what I was thinking with the engineering bit).


No problem, I know some bard's can make all know checks untrained, wasn't sure about your archetype.

Maybe Ogrim can try the religion check.

I wouldn't be surprised if engineering comes into play somehow :) Good flavor anyway.

Dungeoneering will see plenty use.


Almost positive it's something I sack, but that's a good point. I'll check and if by chance I can make the checks come back and make them.

Eli your solution is fine, don't edit it. There's no way out of this without some kind of retcon or flexi-time, yours is as smooth as any, and more epic.

Also, glad you mentioned something GM, turns out archaeologists are actually knowledgeable on stuff. Which having worked as in the archaeological field for five years I have my doubts on, but I'm willing to roll with it :)

Tomorow I'm running sound for a production of the musical Hair and I won't be able to post at all from work, and the next day I'm doing a big line-up of ska bands, during which posting will be light. Thurs night/Fri morning I'll be back to my usual manic updates if no one protests.

If anyone wants to do a good recap of what's happened so far I'll award 100 bonus XP to all. It will be a good tl;dr for anyone feeling lost, and if you include rumors you've learned and such maybe it will help you guys decide while I'm gone what to do next/where to explore.

I'm still in front of my computer tonight.

The various characters arrived by gate or ferry to Zelkor's Ferry and of course promptly met at the inn. A fop and his group entered along with some followers of Hecate and insults flew before arms were drawn. Hound was put to sleep(non fatal kind) by a wizard and one of the Hecates was struck down, making a half-orc named Krull to both feel joy and worry that he has a chance to free his captive friend/love interest.

The paladin almost did a whoopsy by striking down a helpless foe but fortunately, things turned out ok.

Stuck inside due to an ice storm and this is the day we decide to take it easy... Thanks guys, lol. I know people are busy today but still, its a really unfortunate coincidence for me.


My apologies for not having returned to the game yesterday - got the kids to bed and crashed also.

Even though we are in "downtime", I will try to put something up just for the heck of it ;)


I think a lot of the issue is Grimmy's work picked up and he wasn't going to be able to post much until thurs I think...and we're in the tail end of a combat. So everyone's kinda waiting for the monk to drop before we get too chatty.


I can still act, maybe I will take him down :D

OK guys I'm finally home from work. 9:30AM to 1:AM! 0_0

There was a good 5 hours of hurry up and wait in the middle but I couldn't post from work like I usually do because there was a lot of cast nudity on and off stage, and they were strict about no camera/smartphone/tablet.

I'm going to read the thread and see what I missed but may not be able to update because I have another long day tomorrow, also with limited posting opportunity because there is a big lineup of bands so it will be soundcheck, set change, and so on ad nauseum. Things will be back to normal after that :)


I was under the impression that you wouldn't be able to check the thread today, so I let it slide - updating now ;)
