I've got my work schedule through the end of June now but I'm game to go ahead and do the next on PbP if that's what works best for folks :)

I went back and updated Doodle again.

I would like to do another VTT, but scheduling them appears just as difficult as scheduling home games. PbP doesn’t have the scheduling problems, but takes about six weeks for what can be accomplished via VTT in a single day.

I am good with doing it either way.

Well, go ahead and put your info into the doodle. Maybe something will come together.

At this point I cannot commit to another PBP until mid-July. I have a freelance gig with a tight turnaround time.

On the other hand, I have the most XP. Me sitting out a session is not a terrible thing.

I updated my info in the Doodle poll (linked here for convenience). For the dates in July, I need to caveat my replies with the possibility that work travel will arise which will make some of those dates not work.

Nevermind, all the available June dates I'm either working or have other plans -_-

So are we going to do it PbP or wait until July and hope for a VTT time we can all make?

Either works for me.

I can go either way also, though I think we need slightly better than 2 out of 7 participation to see if VTT is a viable option.

I did notice that some Tuesdays are in there as 8 to midnight, while others are in there as 8 to 10:30. 10:30 is pushing it, but I could probably make it work... midnight I definitely can't do during the week.

Those should all have been 6-10pm pacific time, which is about the earliest I could play. If we wanted to go 6-8:30 Pacific time on two consecutive Tuesdays, we could split it up like that.

That is another way of saying that I have very little bandwidth for a VTT game. I added a couple of days, but literally a couple.

I've added my availability for the rest of June but it's very limited, as can be seen. And unfortunately I won't know my schedule for July until probably the last week of this month as we only get our schedules for a month at a time (if we're lucky).

Makes planning stuff a PITA somtimes -_-

Thanks very much, Ladile! My father passed away last year, so there's some sad in the day, but my two boys (who at 21 and almost 18 really don't qualify as boys) are the best thing in my life, and bring me incredible joy today and just about all other days of the year.

I hope it's a good one for everybody, with the same caveat that Ladile added - sometimes these are hard days, hope you can enjoy it nevertheless.

Hey gang - just checking in to see if we should run our next game as a PbP, since we've had such a hard time getting a VTT scheduled. We could also try again to schedule a VTT for August, but with GenCon (and my own very full travel schedule for work), I don't know how viable that is.

The next scenario on our list is Devil We Know 4: Rules of the Swift and we do not have a GM signed up yet. As I said, I'm expecting a lot of travel in August so won't have a ton of time, but I could offer to run it if everyone is tolerant of some slow patches.

Can’t be any slower than it has been the last two months!

I would also be able to GM it if we can wait about a week so that I can finish up the module I’ve been running.

It's quite a ways off yet but once Gameday is over and I'm (hopefully) back down to just 2 or 3 GM games I'd also be happy to take a turn running (for PbP) one of the scenarios that doesn't already have an interested GM. I'd just prefer not to add another GM game at this time with Gameday looming on the horizon.

Until then, I'm happy to play DWK4 with either Garif or Bret GMing and once I get my schedule for August I'll be sure to add it to Doodle.

I'm willing to run the next one as well, since I ran the first part of DWK. Also happy to play.

Hey guys, just checking in to see how this game is going. I'm sorry I had to abandon y'all, but it was better than me kinda being around and not keeping up.

A part of the life stress that was hitting me particularly in the Spring did in fact come to fruition. Westminster has been struggling financially for years, and starting last January they started telling us there would be cuts. Well, last May, two days before graduation, the dean told me that Westminster will be shrinking the size of the Physics department, and my position would be eliminated. The contract faculty has says that we get a buffer year, so I've got this year, and then I'm out. A job search in this field also much of the academic year, so I'm going to be starting that very soon. (I've seen a couple of jobs listed so far -- it's early days. One of them is at Carleton College; I'd love to get that, but it's a top-tier school, so will be very competitive. I won't be surprised if I don't even get a phone call from them.)

I wasn't surprised to be cut. Physics has a small number of majors, and if you're a bean counter, it becomes the obvious place to cut. (The fact that I play in the orchestra, participate in theater with the students, and teach interdisciplinary courses in the honors program is all irrelevant when you're looking at a spreadsheet of professors in department and majors in department.) It wasn't as bad as I thought it might be; early indicates were that they might not honor the buffer year that the faculty handbook said we were going to get, and as such I half expected that I'd be told the third week of May that I had two weeks left.

(When they cut non-staff faculty, they showed up in their offices one day and told them to walk out right then. This was particularly stupid, as, for instance, the person who worked for the Chemistry department taking care of their stock isn't somebody who can walk out without doing some transition. Westminster is a disaster in a lot of ways.)

Sorry your job is getting cut.

Alright folks, let's try one more time to get a VTT scheduled, and if we can't make that work then we should launch a PbP. I've made a new Doodle poll with all of our weekend availability for September and October (weeknights seem to be a no-go with our time-zone differences). Please fill out your availability and we'll see if we can make something work.

Our family plans have changed a bit on September 29th, so the evening will no longer work. I've added a morning time slot on that date. Everyone, please fill in your availability.

Filled out what I could, which wasn't much. If my schedule holds to the way they've been doing it I'll probably have the weekend of October 5th & 6th off but I don't want to commit to that just yet.

Looks like this coming Sunday is our best bet so far, with October 5th or 6th a possibility pending Ladile's schedule. Hilary, Kate, Chris, can you chime in with your availability?

No worries. Sounds like Chris can't either. I think Sunday the 6th at 11am Pacific is the only possibility at this point. Ladile, please let us know when you have your schedule for early October, and let's lock that in if we can. If that doesn't end up working, then we should just start in on a PbP.

I've got a likely work trip in October, with dates not yet fixed, so I couldn't fill out the schedule past that first weekend.

Will do; I should know at least some of my October schedule by the end of next week. That said, I can go ahead and say that I'll be out of town at a convention October 17th-21st so any of those days are definitely a no-go for me.

To add to this, we're beginning the process of looking for/buying a home so that'll also be taking up some of my free time when I'm not working.

Thank you! We're lucky that we don't have to move right away so we've got the time to shop around and make sure we find something that works for us. It's definitely a bit nerve-wracking but also exciting :)

Blah...meant to post this last week and forgot. So, the weekend of the 5th & 6th will not work for me, unfortunately, as I'm scheduled to be working. I could do the weekend of the 12th & 13th though - I'll go update Doodle accordingly with what I have.

*edit* Whoops, I see the 12th & 13th are definitely not options and my schedule only goes through October 19th. Um...at this point my vote is just run the next scenario via PbP if folks are interested and able to commit to it. That said, I know a lot of us are busy lately with life and work, so...I dunno.

PBP sounds good! VTT is fun, but it’s so hard with different time zones.

Hey all - I don't know if it will allow us to get a VTT scheduled (or if I should even raise our hopes of that), but my October work trip has been pushed back, so I'm now pretty wide open. Still some data gaps from Hmm and Ladile, so it might not work, but I've updated my available dates.

That said - I'm happy to go back to the old reliable PbP model.

I'm happy to GM or to play if someone else wants to.

With the other things happening in my life, I don’t think I want to take on running a third game at this time. I already have an SFS and PF2 game that I’m GMing for PbP GD VIII.

^Ditto. It's not quite final yet but we made an offer on a house that was accepted so if everything proceeds like we hope, I will be much busier than usual for the next couple of months.
