Yes, have a grand time!
Shieara Enric

Nope, never played it!

I haven't played it either. I've got a character I was saving for it, but I'm about to play Ruby Phoenix Tournament with him instead.

Kate and I haven't played it yet either. We had a group planned, then one person moved and the GM had a baby.
Shieara Enric

Well, my highest level character is a 6th level cleric so I'm not really eligible to play it yet...but maybe one day!
Verrix the Pathfinder

Huh, so here was me thinking that I could post a spoiler about it. Totally not going to do it now.
(Aside: I do have Roll20 tables set up for Eyes of the Ten, as I've run it there once before....)

Profession (Hunter): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
I'd rather not run this one, as I'm still recovering from the major work project I just finished... but I'm up for one of the next ones!

No Day Job for Shie.
And I'm pretty booked for the first part of Gameday so I'd rather not take on any additional GM obligations for the time being :\

Profession (librarian): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
I'm also kind of reluctant to take on another GM responsibility during Gameday Part 1.

No day job. I haven't played that one, so I would prefer to play it. That said, I didn't take on any Gameday GMing duties aside from overseeing the specials, so I can do it if no one else can.

No day job for Verrix.
I have both played and run Blakros Matrimony before. When I ran it, it was a PbP, so I even have some maps and such set up already.
The spreadsheet says "Chris?" for Blakros Matrimony. Chris, do you want to do it? If not, I will take it on.
Also, two scenarios from now, I want to run Wardstone Patrol as a VTT. We should try to schedule that as we're starting The Disappeared.

Rob - I'd appreciate it if you'd run Blakros Matrimony. I was looking forward to it, but I'm running one game now, about to start another for Gameday, and am very busy due to the wildfires in California, so I'd be pretty inattentive as a DM.

Rob - I do emergency response work for the US EPA. My usual role with wildfires is overseeing the cleanup of hazardous waste left behind afterwards (in the northern CA fires last year, my group cleaned up household hazardous waste and asbestos from over 8000 destroyed properties). But this time was different, as there was a big mine that is a Superfund site, within the boundary of the fire. There was a fire moving up a pipeline inside a 1200’ long mine tunnel, that would eventually reach a huge sulfide ore body that could ignite if the fire reached it, causing all sorts of problems. So I ended up running a team of over 50 people to extinguish the fire 750’ down a tunnel filed with hazardous air contaminants (which we finally did at 2 AM) and recover the TWO robots that had gotten stuck trying to do recon of the fire before we sent in recon and fire teams.
Exhausting (worked a 20-hour day on limited sleep), but one of the more gratifying moments of my career.

As always, I'm eternally thankful to the folks such as yourselves who are willing to risk life and limb in situations like these so that others can stay safe. Thank you and congrats on stopping the fire!

Please wait until at least Monday before starting it.
I do plan to write up something to wrap things up, and still need to create the chronicles.
Everyone will get the 1xp, 2 pp and 511 gp plus day job. Those who have a day job but haven’t rolled it yet, I will assume you took 10.
Primary
You returned Lander Lebeda safely to Silverhall and obtained the Horn of Aroden.
Secondary
Some of you may have noticed the conversation at the end with Dame Lebeda was a little clunky. I was about to wrap things up when I suddenly realized I hadn’t given you a proper opportunity to gain your secondary success condition.
You needed to complete all three of the following:
Although there was an initial hiccup with Lander’s attitude, by the end you had him friendly towards the group.
They had specific evidence listed, and you were a little short when I started the conversation with Dame Lebeda. That is the reason I brought Lander back into the discussion, so that you could get him to testify.
Evidence they were looking for included:
With the way that the conversation with Dame Lebeda started, I wasn’t sure the group would succeed here! As I said, part of that was my failing to really give you a proper opportunity to get Lander to cooperate. It was sort of tricky, because if you had tried to do it too soon it would have made the diplomacy checks even harder.

Aside: I'm running "Beneath Unbroken Waves" next Saturday at a local gameday. (This means that I should probably read it soon....)
I'm assuming the Kate Baker who wrote it is our very own Kate Baker here, and not somebody else of the same name?

My chronicle looks good, thank you!
On top of this chronicle Shie also gets a couple of GM chronicles and so jumps to 2.1 on exp; I'll try and get her leveled up tonight before bedtime :)
Garif Stonetoe

Hey Shieara - how would you pronounce the abbreviated version of your name, Shie? In my head I say it like 'shy' but I'm not sure if that's right.
Shieara Enric
|
Hmm...I've always said it in my mind as 'She-ar-ah' but I can also see it being pronounced 'Shy-ar-ah', 'She-air-ah' or even 'Shy-air-ah' :)
Garif Stonetoe
|
I say the full name just like you, 'shee-arr-uh', so I guess the nickname would just be 'shee'. But seeing it written out, as Shie, broke my brain a moment so I couldn't figure out how to read it as part of the longer name.
While we're on this weighty, significant issue, and because I'm sure everyone was wondering, Garif rhymes with 'tariff' not with 'tar if'.
Shieara Enric
|
Okay cool, I'd been saying it to rhyme with 'tariff' so it's good to know I was doing it right :)
Also Shieara is now leveled to 2nd; not a huge change besides more HPs, a few skill points, and another spell casting per day. I'm a little too tired to ponder cash purchases right now but I do want to note for the next scenario that Shieara will spend 2 PP to purchase her own Wand of Cure Light Wounds.

I'm in the process of leveling Garif to 3rd. I see that I took Spell Focus (conjuration), clearly with an eye to taking Augment Summoning and calling beefier allies to the fight. Have others found this to be a useful way to go? I haven't really played a summoning spammer before, and I expect it could be fun - but the full round casting time to get them into the fight seems like a pause button. I guess I get Nico into the fight in the first round, and bring some friends in for him in the second, so that's still contributing.
Thoughts?
While I'm at it, I get two level two spells. Here's my short list:
Barkskin
Bull's Str or Cat's Grace (choice would depend on whether I'm trying to buff Nico or our bipedal front-liners)
Flaming Sphere
Resist Energy
Lesser Restoration
Soften Earth and Stone (not overly useful, but very appropriate for Garif)
| GM Bret |
If you are going to be summoning, I would suggest you have Nico Guard while you Summon. That will prevent melee combatants from wrecking your spell. Augment Summoning makes for a very effective summons.
You will probably want to grab the elemental and sylvan languages so you can have the summons do other things. I especially like to pick up Aquan so that the Water Elementals can Quench fires.
Bull’s Strength/Cat’s Grace have a very short duration. I think the Barkskin is better.
Flaming Sphere can be nice.
I would suggest just getting a 5-pack of lesser restoration scrolls rather than carry it in memory. We might want to look over chronicles, see if there is a partial wand of it.
Since you can spontaneously summon, don’t worry too much if your spells aren’t exactly what is needed for a particular adventure.
Garif Stonetoe

Thanks for your thoughts, Bret (and Rob..).
I agree about the lesser resto scroll-pack, just have to think if I'm going to invest my PP that way. I've got some to burn, however, so I may just do that.

Catching up now, yes, Beneath Unbroken Waves is by me!
I still have to level up Phinellippa. Still trying to make my brain go after GenCon.

I just realized that Blakros Matrimony is a tier 3-7 scenario.
Everybody but Shieara is 3rd level, yes?
I would propose we make the following changes in the lineup so that we don't have to worry about everybody being 3rd level. Look at the "Campaigns" tab for the current lineup.
Newlineup:
3rd: 5-22 Scars of the 3rd Crusade, 1-29 DWK 1: Shipyard Rats, 1-48 DWK 4: Rules of the Swift.
4th: 4-09 The Blakros Matrimony, 04-11 The Disappeared, 05-02 The Wardstone Patrol
In other words, swap 3rd and 4th level.
Blakros Matrimony needs to be before Disappeared for plot reasons.
What were the scenarios folk were proposing replacing the two Devil We Know scenarios with? The reason I put them in there in the first place is that they introduce NPCs who become important in the Destiny of the Sands triolgy later.

Scars next sounds great to me! In the past, I’ve enjoyed that one both as a player and GM. I’ve GMed it several times, so playing it again would be nice.

The proposed schedule changes work fine for me. I'll try and squeeze in another GM credit or two for Core when I can to finish catching up but it'll probably not be until the second half of Gameday, sadly :/

Yep, sounds good to me. I have Kleines leveled, I just need to figure out how to spend his money, or if I just want to save for mithril armor.
