Fargrim Dawnforge |

I'm here as well, just trying to get caught up with everything at work during the last few days of being back. I like Sandman's plan, we need some plunder!

The Many-Faced GM |

I'd like to know some details about the logistical side of things.
How much money did we make from selling the ship we captured? How much did it cover our debt to Rickity? Did we have enough left over to pay the crew?
Besides that, my priority is still getting the ship fully crewed.
Here's my thoughts-
Hunt down 1 more ship and sell the plunder. Then go to a decent sized port and try to do some hiring.
Selling the ship netted 2 plunder points after paying the crew and settling your debt to Rickety.

--Sandman-- |

Great.
Where are we keeping track of that stuff?

Nivian Mazu |

I'll have to revisit the plunder mechanics. I did read through them a long time ago, meanwhile, but I don't exactly remember.
So not sure if I say we could go to a port and hire now, then go after the rock - of if it's sensible to say we go looking for another ship.
Just wanted to speak up, rather than wait until I get a chance to re-read those rules.

The Many-Faced GM |

It is with deep regret that I must halt this campaign. I will leave it active for a few days so everyone has a chance to chime in on whether or not you want to try and find a replacement GM. I am truly sorry to have to abandon this game but the for the last four months I've been trying to deal with some personal issues that have left me no time to do adequate prep work and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
You guys have been a lot of fun.

Fargrim Dawnforge |

I am in complete agreement with Johara. You did a phenomenal job with this game and keeping it very fun. As I mentioned in the other thread, I wish you the best, GM.
I like this crew as well and would support the decision to seek a new GM if that is our decision.

Nivian Mazu |

Thank you a lot, Many-Faced GM. It has been great fun, and I really liked both the game and the players.
I should also apologize that I had too little time in the past month to post with the regularity I could before...I want to say again that that had nothing to do with waning interest and everything with my own personal life(and the second kid, a bit over nine month now, and the impact it had on my evenings) and work(where lots of things were supposed to change in all kinds of ways and a lot ended up changing in very different directions...)
So - sorry about the long breaks I sometimes had that also may have disrupted game flow!
I have to say that as Fargrim said, you did a phenomenal job so far! If you were to drop the prep work and just 'wing it' roughly following the outline of the campaign, I would be game for that...but I can understand if even 'winging it' is more demanding than your personal issues allow.
In that case, yes, I would also want to look for a new GM!
Also: My 'familiar' Carth had been amphibious so he could stick with me in the water, but was in the background all the time so that it wouldn't be a thematic change when he turns into an improved familiar - a Tidepool Dragon, if memory serves.
IF we manage to secure a new GM, I would invite you to stick around if you want, in the form of this Tidepool Dragon(I'm sure a early unlock can be worked out) :)
Not a 'real' character that takes time and effort, but certainly more interesting than a parrot- just saying.

--Sandman-- |

I've loved this game. Thanks for all your efforts, GM. I hope things get sorted out soon. If you ever decide to run something again, let me know. I'd jump at the chance.
I'm also in favor of trying to find a GM willing to pick up the game. This party is too much fun to just let things go. I think we might have lost Baltzar too, so our Coven needs a third.
If we can get a new GM to sign on, would Johara or Fargrim be interested in retraining into a class with Hexes to complete our circle?

--Sandman-- |

That would work. I was thinking that Nivian would take you as an apprentice and give you the crash course or something.

The Many-Faced GM |

I really agonized over this decision but give me a week to see what I can sort out. I hate abandoning this and the Reign of Winter one. We've come too far together. Let me see what I can wrap my head around.
I'll be out of town til Sunday. Maybe the break is what I need to recharge.

Nivian Mazu |

Just to add to your deliberation: I would also be fine with a Hiatus. If you, say, want to take a couple month or half a year off to sort things out, then start again from where we left off. Just saying.
In some cases, that would be deadly for games, but I think we are at a nice break-point at both and can "re-boot" from there pretty easily.

--Sandman-- |

Reign of Winter seems like it's been slowly choking for quite a while now, and I don't think it has a lot to do with you as a GM. The party isn't terribly cohesive and we kinda lost the plot a while ago. I can understand wanting to let that one end.
This game gathers momentum extremely easily, and has an impressively cohesive group. I can see it being difficult to run just by virtue of having tons of crew NPCs to worry about, and being so open ended and player driven at this point that it's hard to plan ahead for what's going to happen next.

Fargrim Dawnforge |

Either way, GM, you have my support for sure! I would be okay with us taking a short hiatus if that is what you would like to do as well. I recently suffered a bit of GM burnout and needed to take a little bit of time from my own games to get refreshed and back into the swing!
As far as retaining... I cannot really see Fargrim as any kind of caster or Hex-based character, especially with his mental stats the way they are lol. That said I could consider making a new PC that is a Hexblade Magus if we really would like to go that route.

The Many-Faced GM |

So my current train of thought is shutting down Reign of Winter and inviting Droviz and Havelock into this campaign. If either are not interested in joining, I have a few other players in mind that can jump in pretty easily but I wanted to see if anyone had any input. This would eliminate all the other campaigns that I'm running and allow me to dedicate time to this one. You can post your thoughts here or PM me directly if need be.
I obviously still play in a few but those I can generally post in at work so they're less of a concern. I'm hoping to resume game play in a week or two, maybe less, maybe more. I'm not planning on a long hiatus. Most games don't recover from those.

Nivian Mazu |

1 campaign running is better than 2 campaigns dead.
Thats my view.
There were some very nice scenes and events in Reign of Winter, and I greatly enjoyed my Druid there, but I utterly understand, struggling with the second game I run as well.
That said: Seducer Witch Archetype would fit Johara pretty well, thematically - but I agree, while the full coven would be a fun gimmick, it means quite some overlap in class abilities and spell lists.
It might be better if we get that 'handwaived' for a 'Coven Feat'(similar to Extra Hex/Coven except no previous Hex knowledge needed), with any number of our companions qualifying, and me and Sandman(the proper witches) counting as hags(so either of us needed for coven stuff)

--Sandman-- |

I think that's a great plan.
Having either of the two of them make a Hex user would also round out our coven again.

--Sandman-- |

They do. Any character with the Hex class ability can take Coven Hex.

Fargrim Dawnforge |

Understandable, GM! I agree that I'd rather keep one game going than lose both of them.
Do you guys want me to scrap Fargrim in a blaze of glory and work on a Hex-base character or just keep Fargrim as is? I'm quite enjoying him, but I also like party cohesion and therefore do not mind switching things up if that is what we all decide.

--Sandman-- |

I'd prefer to keep Fargrim. He's great.
If retraining to other classes doesn't appeal, there's also the VMC option as a way to pick up a Hex. That lets anyone join a coven. It's hard on feats, but the trade off seems worth it in the end. Those coven powers are tasty.

Nivian Mazu |

I agree, both Johara and Fargrim should stay the way they are.
That said, we always got plenty of goodies on Level-ups. I am almost certain we could negotiate some kind of deal for a "Free Coven Hex" for everybody at some level.
Heck, in that case we could have 2 coven sets simultaneously(6 players if the winter people migrate, 2 'true' witches) for even more shenaningans :P

--Sandman-- |

Yay!

The Many-Faced GM |

I've asked two friends if they're interested in joining. If either are not, I'll open recruitment.

Nivian Mazu |

Ah, ok.
Just one thought, you might still consider the players of Droviz and Havelock - just in case you ever feel a need to re-visit your earlier conundrum - I do hope all works out fine in the future, but I'm also pragmatic :)
Also: Will post in gameplay tomorrow - I meant to post in both games this evening but I'm so sleepy I almost fell asleep at the computer just now...

Nivian Mazu |

Crew, get your act together!
The Covenant is on the move, and there's bounty to be had on the horizon.
This is no time to oversleep because you're hung over from too much rum.
The merry holiday season slows everything down, but post at least a small 2-liner or something or by Besmara, I'll have the lot of you keelhauled!

--Sandman-- |

GM, I have a whole bunch of Roll20 art assets, including a couple nautical packs. If you want, I could whip up a full-scale battle map on my account and promote you to GM.

Nivian Mazu |

I would act right now, but I returned from a burial yesterday and admittedly would need to read up on ship combat - and right now, have no energy to do so. I'll get a post up on the weekend! Sorry for the delay.
(Basically mostly saying: Hey, yeah, I'm here and will post ASAP)

--Sandman-- |

Checking in.

Nivian Mazu |

Yeah, that ASAP did not quite work out that great.
After a short PM correspondence, I will make sure to check the rules, and I will post in gameplay until the end of the week.
Everybody still here and ready to get this show back on the road?

--Sandman-- |

Yep.

--Sandman-- |

Looks like it.

Nivian Mazu |

Aye, it would seem it was also only us left.
Alas, it was an honor to serve with you.
*looks at Johara longingly*
Looks like we get to sail off into the sunset...

The Many-Faced GM |

My sincerest apologies for not being able to see this through to the end. I hope to resume running something sooner or later, but it would seem that now is not the time. I've enjoyed this game, your characters, and you as players immensely and learned a tremendous amount about running PbP games and Pathfinder in general, so thank you for that.
Happy gaming everyone!

--Sandman-- |

Thanks for the game, GM. I've loved your style of running things. If you ever decide to pick this up again, or start a new game, let me know. Hope things get easier for you soon.
