OKAY...
That DING You heard is the sound of everyone (except Gared) leveling up to Level 4! However, you will need to rest at some point FIRST in order to apply your level up changes.
BTW...you are close to clearing out this particular area (just a couple of rooms remain to be checked out) so once you have checked them out you should be able to rest without incident.
PS...Has anyone heard from Horven's character? I am curious to know if he is interested in rejoining the party. Once you have rested here, I have an opportunity for Horven to leave the group if you so desire. While it will result in the loss of your resident trap-finder, it will give you all a resulting boost in XP since he will no longer be receiving XP from the encounters. As an added incentive, if you elect to have Horven depart, Gared will be immediately bumped up to level 4 (in effect Gared and Horven will swap XP totals).

I meant to post sooner, but I've been having issues at work. If the group would prefer to have my character depart, I'd be okay with it since I've missed so much. But I am still interested in rejoining if that's okay.

Gared Naught |

You guys stuck with me when I went on a several month hiatus this past year and I'd be happy to have you back, Horven. Also, congrats on the level guys, I'll get there eventually!

Anafa, Yamyra |

If you come back, then you can help Gared & I in pressuring Ganer & Carmina to learn Halfling as our 'Adventuring Language'! After all, nobody expects a couple of Tieflings to know Halfling!
All kidding aside, I would be quite pleased for you to come back.
In Fancy's hand, Second Level Spells!!! So, would Haste or something more like See Invisibility be more helpful to the group as a whole?

Gared Naught |

Haste, all the way! It's a combat winning buff that will always be a helpful action in a fight, not to mention you're getting access to it as a second level spell! See invisibility is great when it comes up, but very situational.

Anafa, Yamyra |

I just wondered, given we have been running into a lot of invisible opponents lately & if it's going to be a trend...
Semi-related note; Fancy's only effective change will be two more evolution points. I'm wavering between an ability increase, making her natural attacks magical for the purpose of DR, or Simple Weapon Proficiency. The magical attacks evolution is only one point so I was figuring something like giving her Push as a secondary effect of her attacks if I went with that one, unfortunately Grab is a two point evolution or I would consider it...
edit: I just checked Fancy's sheet & realized I have yet to spend any evolution points on Armor for her. That is a 1 point evolution as well.

Carmina Scarnetti |

Of course we want you back! :) We wouldn't trade you for all the XP in the world.
And I second Gared's suggestion of taking Haste. That spell is already amazing as a 3rd level spell, getting it early is almost too good.
Now... Anyone want to help me pick my 2nd-level spell? :P Right now I'm thinking either Blur or Burning Arc, but if anyone thinks that there's better spells out there I'm all ears.

Carmina Scarnetti |

I probably won't be focusing on summoning very heavily for a while. I'll be taking a summoning spell now and then, but not sinking any feats on it until at higher levels when the Added Summonings + Superior Summoning combo comes available.

Anafa, Yamyra |

Ah. Champions of Balance adds a nice Neutral-aligned summoning Feat, ala 'Summon Good Monster' which opens your summons list & gives a new creature template in addition to/instead of Celestial or Fiendish.

Horven Graveltoes |

All leveled save for a rogue talent. Can't seem to make up my mind unless I want to go with point-blank shot and precise shot next level.
Edit: Belongings have been updated as well. Thanks so much for doing that, Eric.

Ganer Jitesh |

Oh sweet! I get tongues as a mystery spell! You all better watch yourselves, no telling when I'll have it up, no more talking behind my back for any of you.
Anyway, as far as spells go, the two that are jumping out at me are protection from evil (communal), and darkness, since we have three of the five (and Fancy?) with darkvision, that might be a boon if we were to fight something without it. Any thoughts?

Anafa, Yamyra |

I can honestly say I don't recall a time when Yamyra would have been bothered by you knowing what she was saying, so Ganer having Tongues doesn't bother me/her in the slightest. Protection from Evil (Communal) sounds good, I thought Darkvision couldn't see through Magical Darkness?
And yes, as an Outsider, Fancy has Darkvision. One of the reasons Yamyra has Fancy take point is so that she doesn't need a torch, which might give her away to whatever is down here.

Horven Graveltoes |

I decided to go with PBS since the crossbow seems to be my default weapon, so I ought to focus on improving my ability with it.

Gared Naught |

For Carmina I'd recommend Gliterdust as it should help with any future problems with invisibility, and also happens to be a mid range brutally effective area save or suck debuff.
Darkness is a bit too situational a spell for a spontaneous casting spot, I think. Protection from Evil (Communal) would be a good choice, and I'm just a huge fan of silence. Also, if you ever take spiritual weapon, you get to summon a spiritual unarmed strike, what ever that looks like. =p
Welcome back, Horven!

Carmina Scarnetti |

Hey guys, for various reasons I'm going to be unable to post for about two weeks. Please bot if necessary. :)
And just in case that great moral debates arise while I'm gone, Carmina is very much against unprovokedly attacking the lemure, even though he is a filthy devil. :P

Anafa, Yamyra |

The squares are still 10' on a side, yes?
edit: Since we didn't see anything like a dome when we rowed out here, am I correct in concluding the dome is below the sea level?

Anafa, Yamyra |

Gared Naught |

3000 posts in the gameplay thread, woooooo!
Also, I'm completely comfortable/happy to continue this conversation between Gared and Horven in spoilered flex time while the adventure continues if that works for everyone.

Anafa, Yamyra |

So the only thing that changes on Fancy is two more Evolution points. I'm seriously considering giving her the 'Gills' evolution & then swapping it out next level.
Technically that's allowable, but it feels like cheese to me. It doesn't really fit the mental image I have for her & the only reason I'm thinking of it is that we are presently in an underwater locale with some strong hints that we may want/need to go 'out there'.
Opinions/Suggestions?

Anafa, Yamyra |

I'm baaack! :D
Yay! Hope matters went well.
I have also finalized Fancy's evolutions for this level. So I am completely ready to go as well.
Anafa, Yamyra |

Sorry all. I'm going to post, just incredibly weary after a long conversation with my ex about our son last light, capped this morning with witnessing/reporting an attempted sexual assault on my way to work.
Really, really drained right now.

Gared Naught |

Considering it's an ooze, and oozes have absolutely horrendous armor class stats, Fancy might not actually miss with that roll.

Anafa, Yamyra |

Carmina, dear. I love you, you know that right? I also know that you presently have an average intelligence & you just saw the big gelatinous thing cause these big pits to form on Fancy just where it touched her?
Or were you busy picking flesh out of your teeth again?
Way to commit to the low Intelligence there.

Gared Naught |

When I was playing a monk in my last campaign, my DM had me roll a reflex to avoid damage every time I hit the ooze with an unarmed strike. It also had fallen on our cleric in a surprise round. Things were not going well for us.

Horven Graveltoes |

We're dysfunctional.
