Let us know if you need any help. The first one is always the hardest. It gets much easier after that.
As said above You got this!

When "Creating an Event" for reporting, do I create my own event or is there a special Event Number for Paizo PbP that I use? Can I use the Event Number I use for reporting games at my local Denver lodge?
Other answered most of your questions, but I didn’t see anyone talk about the event for your local lodge.
As a venture agent you are supposed to report the number of games run by type and campaign quarterly to your VC. Some areas might have you report it to a VL who then aggregates the information and passes that to the VC.
If you use the same event number for other things, that makes the reporting a little more complex. For that reason I would recommend VAs always keep the event number for their local lodge separate from everything else.
There are no requirements for this, but I find keeping things separate makes it more obvious what the event is.

As roll4initiative is recruiting openly he can use the ‘online support program’ event code, right?
I don’t use that code and couldn’t find it easily.
Yes he could. (Had to double check I was in the 1E Lodge hehe)

I've been using RPGChronicles for my games here in Denver and had my players in my PbP game sign up on there as well, since it's so easy to email digital chronicles to everyone. I did create a separate Event Code in my account for my PbP games, however, I should probably use the OSP so we have a chance for boons. Can I still issue chronicles through RPGChronicles?

My VC and I are good friends and chat almost daily. He knows about the PbP games I'm running now and will run in the future. ;)
I also want you all to know that my first PbP game as GM is going splendidly well! I've had a couple hiccups so far (but who doesn't, right?) that were no big deal at all. I'm glad I learned so much from all of the wonderful GMs I've had over the past couple of years. A ton of thanks for all of the support!

Yup you can still issue chronicles from RPG Chronicles. Just make sure if you are reporting your games into the OSP that you enter the OSP information on your chronicles in RPG Chronicles.
That is excellent to hear that your game is going well!

Announcement
There were a few more Campaign Coins given out at PaizoCon
Congratulations to:
Also one of our own earned his 5th Nova for Starfinder. Way to go Shifty!
Please send all those hard volunteers plenty of congratulations!

EbonFist |

I only recognize two of the names who got Campaign Coins and I have to wonder why one of them is only just now getting one. Congrats, Dennis, it's well deserved and (maybe) overdue.
And congrats to Shifty! Having been in several of his Starfinder games, I can say that the experience he's gained from running so many games shows in how smoothly and entertainingly they go and that he certainly isn't jaded by all that he's done.

It comes down to someone actually typing up the nomination - and I assume everyone assumes someone else has it covered.
I was delighted when I got mine, but I've no idea where the nomination came from...!

Hello everyone,
I very rarely play vtt games and once had the pleasure to meet Hawthwile in one of the vtt Cons which was great. ;-)
Now I’m playing in a vtt PFS1 game in 10 hours that is also looking for players. ;-)
English language of course but evening in Europe, morning in the US.
Hope to meet some of you there! :-D

GM Numbat |

Alex has indicated we can share the following:
I intend to award some Campaign Coins at Gen Con/Gen Con Online, as well as potentially at PaizoCon Online Europe. If you would like to nominate one or more individuals for these coins, please email the nomination to organizedplay@paizo.com no later than July 15, so I have time to consider them.
If you have previously sent in a nomination for someone you know will be attending these shows, I would love to know that as well.
Under my "administration," the criteria for a campaign coin is "be nominated by at least one person, and go above and beyond the standard VO requirements if you're a VO." This is deliberately nebulous and I don't have set criteria. If you're nominating someone, let me know what they've done to deserve the coin and I'll take it into account. More nominations are good, they show me that more people care, especially more nominations from people who are probably not communicating about it (e.g. if members from two different regions send in nominations, that individual is clearly having an effect on multiple areas). Coins are not limited to VOs; if there is a non-VO going above and beyond, they're absolutely eligible too!

I've moved my GMing out of these boards, using a combo of VTT (Roll20) and Discord for audio with a recurring group of friends.
Up to last week, I had been using Google Slides and Discord audio for my live games. While Google Slides is IMO the absolute best for PbP, for live games, Roll20 is just pure lightning in a bottle. The data entry to input your character can take about 10 to 15 min, but after that, the battles take 5min instead of an hour. It's too bad I didn't realize Roll20's potential until now. I've been wasting a lot of gaming hours in the last 10 years; I could have done twice the amount of APs/Modules if I had got into it earlier.
Hi PDK,
I can really understand the fascination with online vtt play and I’m happy that you’re satisfied with the experience. But after having played VTT games in the last years, I cannot share your assessment.
The beauty of these PbP boards is that role-playing and character interaction are at the center of our joy! We play because we like to play and the path is our goal.
I personally do not care about a chronicle sheet and I do not care about the speed because when we are playing together then this is the time I am actually enjoying. ;-)
I’d rather spend my time on quality role-playing in one story than rushing through several stories.
You know that one of the best play by post experiences that I have had here on these boards was with you as the GM: the first part of your Hell’s rebels campaign was just awesome! :-D
So a big thanks to you for all the hours you spent here with us!!

The best twenty hours of gaming I ever had was Eyes of the Ten on Roll20.
The best roleplaying I had was probably either All For Immortality at PaizoCon or Passing the Torch at GenCon.

GM TOP |

It's on the OSP page under the 'Player' Section.
Boons will be allocated by the Online Venture Officers after sessions are submitted by GMs. Players should not roll for boons at the game table.
And since GMs get boons based upon number of games reported, I don't think that they have any rolling involved.

And here I was thinking that the OSP program wasn't active any more .....

How'd you like GMing, GM roll4?
He did very well I'd like to say. Kept the game moving, was not confusing, and did a good job RPing a NPC for us.
roll did a great job.
Aww. Thanks for the kind words, guys!
It was harder than I thought at first, but I got the hang of it. I'm going to start The Confirmation scenario soon! (Practice, practice, practice!)
It was a bit difficult keeping track of attacks, damage, saves, conditions, etc...
I'm very scatterbrained.
When updating during combat, I thought I had all the damage added up correctly, but, I missed some things. Luckily, the group was very helpful and pointed out & corrected my mistakes.
The "You Backtracked Too Far" is soooo annoying.
Using a notepad app is very helpful for writing & editing before posting. :)

Yes, especially when the site throws up the 'Back space error of 30 exceeded or whatever it is , and you lose everything that has been entered. That is really annoying.

If using Chrome, it is a good idea to grab this add-on called Typio Form Recovery (used to be called Lazarus). It saves all of your pasted typed items so if Paizo gives you an error or crashes it is all just one button click away to recover your lost text.

OF COURSE you are going to get some things wrong, you would have to be God not to. And then there is that fact that you got 4-6 players focusing on your work, knowing their characters and their situations better than you do, and so it is equally as natural that players will catch most of those mistakes. It can be humbling (it is for me) but it is expected.

I still get things wrong. Too many rules, classes and niche cases not to. Luckily PbP has the time to look up rules and ask questions.

I credit PbP to helping me really develop my rules expertise in Pathfinder and Starfinder - as both a player and a GM it has allowed me to witness a REALLY broad range of playstyles and ideas that I would never come across in my region, as well as have the time to then deep dive into them and read up.
Unlike 'at the table', we have ample time to dig through rules to find RAW and make rulings, and we can even share links and references, and when you see an interesting character build, you have the time to read it - how often do you get to see an effective build at the table AND have the chance to see how that person has put it together mechanically?
Now I am 5 Star PF1 and 5 Nova SFS and frankly that would never have happened without PbP.

PbP also allows roleplay interactions to be really deep, since there's also time to look up medieval papermaking techniques or how to say thank you in Klingon or whatever. And, the ability to search past posts means that characters can have metaplots that span multiple scenarios, or have recurring interactions with PCs/NPCs that would have been forgotten at a F2F table.
The downside to PbP is that it's so long that sometimes that search function is really necessary, because at the end of the scenario, I'm thinking ... dangit, what were we here to do again?

I can go in and log in now. I generally check it once a week to see if anything new.
Edit: I am not seeing your report in there.

Huh. Interesting. I know I submitted it. I'll try again.
Actually, I took a screenshot when submitting it. Can I send that to you?
Looking at the screenshot now, I got an "Authentication Failure" alert. I have no idea what that means.
