Not quite the normal PFS affair, but I am recruiting volunteers for my X-Com 2 playthough here
Other than potentially help make your character there's not much to do other than cheer your character on until they get their face blown off by an alien plasma weapon.

I've got my eye on the Dual-Cursed Oracle, but I have a hard time imagining how the "Misfortune" feature would work in PbP.
Misfortune (Ex): At 1st level, as an immediate action, you can force a creature within 30 feet to reroll any one d20 roll that it has just made before the results of the roll are revealed. The creature must take the result of the reroll, even if it's worse than the original roll. Once a creature has suffered from your misfortune, it cannot be the target of this revelation again for 1 day.
Is there any GM consensus on how to deal with this kind of "make your decision before the GM announces the result of the roll" type abilities are implemented in PbP?

Khelreddin |

I've seen PbP players try to use Misfortune and other abilities that force rerolls, and much of the time I've seen GM's wrestle with it for a bit and then request that the character be tweaked a bit to get rid of that ability, as the PbP format makes its use very challenging. This was in an AP, non-PFS play - it's possible that you'd find some GM's who can work with this, but PbP makes it much more awkward to undo rolls and results, as you have already guessed.

Aksum |

The best way is to post conditional instructions, such as "Use misfortune if enemy X rolls a natural 20 on anyone in the party, or rolls 15 or higher on a save from the Wizard."

Some GMs are rather flexible with how you use it but this is probably the best option for PbP as it removes ambiguities and potentials for fights over when you are allowed to use it and when not. There's no official rule from the leadership about how to use these types of abilities in PbP so there will be variation between GMs but I would advocate Aksum's strategy.

Shifty |

Yep I have a Dual Oracle with the Misfortune Hex.
"If X enemy rolls a Y or above on an attack roll, I will use the ability" - I usually run with a 10+.
No dramas so far but yeah it really isn't as efficient.
Don't be 'that guy' who plays the 'well I would have' after the GM posts, same with riposting swashbucklers.
:)

EndlessForms |

same with riposting swashbucklers.
Yes, this is another one that's tricky over PbP. Most players who have done it effectively have rolled their riposte ahead of time in a spoiler with a note "riposte on first attack that hits" or something to that effect.

chadius |

A similar situation comes up if you rely heavily on trips. Just roll the AoO behind a spoiler so the DM can process it without waiting for you. Nothing's worse than the DM saying "He stands up and casts a powerful spell, killing the party- er, wait, he provokes? Let's wait for chadius to make that AoO first."

To be fair, this is often the best way to run this ability in home games too. (I'm starting a character in a Hell's Rebels game with the misfortune oracle ability, and my instructions are "reroll any crit.")

![]() |

Not really explicit enough though :) What part of the crit re you asking for a reroll on?
The first die? or the second? 18+ 0r a 19 or a 20?.
Because you can only call the reroll before the results are known...
The first die - I'm more likely to stop the crit from happening in the first place than I am to stop the crit from confirming. (And unless the monster has a weird ability, it's pretty obvious what a creature's crit range is.)

Just sticking my head up to express interest in most season 7 content, if anybody's keen to run anything.
As the VL for my city, I'm GMing a good portion of our local play days; I'd like to get the chance to get more of season 7 under my belt in a "slot zero" fashion before I have to run them. So far, I've gotten to play School of Spirits, Ancients' Anguish, Trouble in Tamran, and Captive in Crystal (all three at an out of town convention or by PBP...), but the rest of S7 is a big blank for me and I'd love to play some of them, whether high or low level games.

I have been thinking lately about giving back to the community here and trying my hand at GM'ing a PbP scenario. Initially I thought about something from season 6 (because of the Humble Bundle), but I also have 7-01 Between the Lines still on the shelf. I prepped it for a convention a while ago, but my table fell through.
If you're interested in that one and don't mind a new-ish GM, I could run it for you (assuming there's enough interest to round out the table).

I'd play.
PbP seems to me isn't as big a deal to start GMing. You can always look something up when you need to, without making your players wait, so there's not that time pressure.

My last table kinda fell through. I'm very interested in playing this one having run it for my local side.

Fair enough. I'm a little shy about GM'ing it for three people who are familiar with the scenario, but I'm sure you'll be able to separate IC-OOC knowledge. Dien, Eleazzaar, Sethran and Nightdeath, I've added you to the signup sheet here. Please add your character info and such. I'd like to get started sometime after the weekend, if possible.

if you have a slot free, i'd join in. what tier?
just to be clear, i have it, but didn't run it. i skimmed it once or twice, though.
edit:
aww, you're full. well then - another time. if a slot opens, let me know.

Thanks! I would have been too slow otherwise. And I have no clue about this scenario

Congratulations to two Flaxseed regulars, Chris Marsh (Dungeon Master S) and Chris Rathunde (thunderspirit), for each earning their 5th star in recent weeks!
Well deserved for you both.

Congrats, guys! :)

Dungeon Master S |

Thanks everyone! Flaxseed Lodge is a MAJOR part of it.

Congrats! I still need to get a few more specials in I guess. I've got some catching up to do!

Only in the Specials, my friend. You've already probably lapped us in total tables! :-)

Woah!

Dungeon Master S |

Chris Marsh (Dungeon Master S) is one of the best GMs wherewith I had the pleasure to play, here in the Flaxseed. Awards more than deserved, congratulations! :)
Thank you sir (and everyone else!)

Congrats guys!
Almost there to 5* too - the Specials have been the issue, but now I'm addressing those.
Also need to get a VC or VL in one of my games for sign off or some such. That's going to be the tougher part, if only could sort that in PbP!If only VA's counted...!
You ran for me :) If you run a evergreen again I'm game for a review if you want lol

It's worth an email to IronHelixx and/or Tonya to see if a PbP qualifies as being "at your table." I think it should, honestly; it's very much like any other table.
If it can, I see no issue with finding one of us here to do that. :-)
