Sorry guys, busy few days, I have now posted. It is up to you, Stormy. Whatever you want to do, but Chris is not interested in PBP. It's just too slow a pace for him.

This is not meant as any offense to Tangar, but at this point I'd say it would much behoove the group if we found a replacement. It's become clear that his RL is obviously taking precedence right now, and, speaking only for myself, I don't like to dungeon crawl without a good martial character at the fore. That's just my opinion, as was asked for. I will, of course, do whatever the GM and the group feel is best.
:)

Considering that I had also stated that we would stop before the next encounter and wait for him to update his character sheet ... and while I haven't posted it yet ... the next encounter is basically starting now!!! Hahahaha! Yeah ... once Tamlara opened that door ... you have a slight chance of avoiding the encounter if you wish but ...
I'll post the response to the door opening later tonight.
Tangar did tell me that while he doesn't really ant to quit, he just doesn't see it feasible right now to continue currently.
I am going to ask for the three of you (Aldhranhald, Boudacia, & Tamlara) to vote please?
1. Continue and I bot Tangar while I try to find a replacement?
2. Continue without Tangar? (NOT Advisable!)
3. Stop while I try to find a replacement?
4. Stop period.
5. Some other option? (Please Specify.)

Well Stormstrider, I have made 3 posts in the last 7 hours. So you can't say I am dragging my virtual feet. :P

Okay, this may not be a popular choice, but it is my opinion that we should go with option 3, and here's my rationale for that.
One, we are, thankfully, not actually engaged in combat yet, and if we are bringing in someone new, now would be a great time to do it, because this new person could easily come in through room A11, which is a room we previously cleared, and also leads to that other "secret" goblin entrance. Ergo, the new recruit gets to come in and immediately battle test their character. Plus, this provides the additional in-character motivation of comradeship because the new character will have helped us defeat a common enemy.
Two, if we are bringing in someone new, which obviously by me picking option 3 is what I want to happen, I'd rather that that process takes place sooner rather than later.
Three, the impending combat also provides a good story reason for Tangar to "exit." It would be an easy thing to have a little GM fiat where Tangar takes a pretty grievous injury, and decides he's going to go and camp outside the tower, and rest up. That way, if Tangar's player ever wanted to come back, it would be a pretty easy thing to narrate him having rested and healed up outside, and found his way back to us on the inside.
It is for all these reasons I think option 3 is the best, and because of that I will be holding off on making an in-game post.

Okay then, it is up to Tamlara to 'break the tie' or make it a 3-way tie! Hahaha! No pressure Tamlara! ;)
Right now I'm fighting a migraine and I only had a bout 3-3.5 hrs of sleep last night (hence the migraine!) so I will try to put up a recruiting post tomorrow sometime, but also busy prepping for the tabletop version which just cleared the second level last week and starting the third level this coming Wednesday! So, recruiting may not start 'til Thursday ...

I hate being the tiebreaker! That being said, I was leaning toward choice 1, as I do not wish to quit either, but Aldranhald makes persuasive arguments. I like Tangar's character and if there is a way to possibly bring him back later when he's ready, I would prefer that. I will choose 3 because this is a good place to add someone new. It may not be so easy to write-in a new character further down the line.

Wow, I didn't even have to make an opposed Charisma check or anything. :) Thanks for agreeing to my rationale. :) Looks like time to recruit a martial character Stormstrider...

Sorry Tamlara. I know what you mean. I hate being the tie breaker as well! I was half-expecting for you to choose something else and leave it up to me! Thank you for not putting me into that position! :D
Now, in all honesty I have to say that I would find it very simple to write in that you either find a prisoner in here and then you get a small quest to recover his gear, or on your next trip back to town you encounter a lonely adventurer looking for a group, if you all wanted me to do that. But, for now we will consider this stopped and will open recruitment ... tonight or tomorrow at the latest. If anybody of you know of anybody that you want to suggest feel free. Once I post the recruitment I will make sure you can find a link here or something.
Do you all think I should open recruitment to more than one character? Should I look for two martial types or open up to other possibilities?
Any suggestions?
*************************************
Totally different subject. My table-top group started the third level tonight. I gave them several warning that on the third level there are two or three potential TPK possibilities!!! (Total Party Kill in case you don't know.) They managed to overcome the first one fairly easy, but the second one almost killed the main front line fighter! He was down by several HP and one more round might have killed him, but they manged to kill the hostile just in time! I had FUN!!! Heeheeheehee! :D I think that they did too for the most part. Of course the Taurien (Minotaur) Barbarian with 51 hP at max wasn't too happy! 1 round did the equivalent of 25 HP damage to him! It is a CR 5 encounter! But with only 4 party members present they beat it! Only 3 of those party members were level 3 and the other was level 2. A VERY interesting night! :D
I'm really looking forward to you all getting there!

Well, since you went ahead and let us know just how difficult some parts of the Spire can be, I'd say please open it up to at least two more characters. The more the merrier, as the expression goes. Probably should make it clear that you don't want any summoners though, if that's still your thinking about that. Another caster (arcane or divine) couldn't hurt either. Maybe say we're looking for two characters and one of them has to be a martial character, the other is open. Thanks Stormstrider!

Uuuummmmm I don't want to play favorites or anything, but I've actually had some experience with Redelia in other discussions on the boards, and I find her to be a very intelligent, polite, and teamwork oriented person. Looks like she was leaning toward an angel-blooded NG Paladin of Sarenrae, which could provide some very interesting roleplay challenges for us all, especially considering we have a dhampir trying to prove her worth to "good" society.
Just my 2 cp. ;)
Edit: Also, FRICK her stat array one is NICE!!!

Sorry. I have been silent as I have had my internet down for 2 or 3 days. :(
Then I rang my server and it suddenly was back before they could do anything. Very Weird.
Note that you are all wrong. We are still tied because Wayne voted with Boudacia. :P
More seriously, I would follow Aldhranhald's recommendation and accept Redelia as one of the new players. I trust his judgment.

We had a similar experience in Jade Regent.
We are level 10, with 2 players and a 3rd that started as a PC but is now an NPC. These are Susano-O, my character a half elven master summoner, Hikari a level 10 human magus and the now NPC Erica a level 10 human wizard.
The NPCs were Amieko, the bard, from the path, a Barabarian Kelda and a tiny cleric Spivee, I don't have the details of the race.
We were attacked in the street during a fireworks display by six ninja/ assasins and an orc boss ninja assasin. We had fought the boss before and he brought magic appropriate for us. All of them had displacement cast on them with a 50% miss chance but our GM rolled successes about 80 % of the time.
Erica was grappled from surprise and stayed that way until unconscious. Kelda and Susano-O kept trying to get her out. I finally had a flying lion take her unconscious self out of danger, when she was hit and killed by shiruken.
Hikari did lots and lots of damage to the boss, including a critical. Sadly the reverse was true and Hikari would have died when he was finished off on the ground, but he had a 20% miss chance from a spell and it missed.
The barbarian Kelda then put the boss down and was in turn put down by other ninjas. Amieko had taken enough damage to go invisible and use bard abilities and spells to buff others, and the master summoner had also taken a ton of damage and was flying above the combat, invisible and summoning like there was no tomorrow.
Finally, the weight of summoned creatures started to take effect. Most were lions with the aerial template, that fly, and then aurochs, which trampled and got around the miss chance.
A lion ripped the boss's head off and a stampeded brought down most of the ninjas leaving us able to easily mop up.
End result- Erica dead, one PC unconscious, the NPC Kelda unconscious, having been 1HP from dying, Susano -O, the PC and Amieko, the NPC, both up, largely due to invisibility and both badly hurt and tiny Spivee who was fine. Very tough combat indeed.

            a lot of cool stuff...
That sounds epic, and even with the one death and a bunch coming close, is exactly the reason I love this game. Overcoming challenges like that in such desperate fashion is super rewarding. Go to the waffle house and celebrate over massive doses of carbohydrates kind of rewarding.
Edit: Oh! Also, I don't have a problem with you adding in background skills, a lot of people on the boards really like those. I've just never took the time to look into them, but if you add them for us, obviously, I'll take the time. :)

I really like the cut of this guy's jib! Dwarf tower shield fighter could be really useful in close quarters stuff... There are some others that "got in" earlier, and I think they should have a chance to at least present their character concepts before making that final choice.
Also, Stormstrider, incoming PM.

Heads-up, I am inviting another of my RL friends to join us. He is making a - quote: "Brother_Guiness, a hard drinking warrior type who worships the Drunken God" who is a dwarf. He is a total virgin to PBP! So let's please be patient with him! And Tamlara, yes you know him as well! You may remember the name of Brother Guiness or he also played our grappler in one of your husband's campaigns.
I like the dwarf tower shield fighter, but two of his 3 weapons are two-handed melee, what does he plan to do with his tower shield? He can't use two handed and tower shield! At least not that I'm aware of.
Also have two players interested in making a healer type! Joseph Soltz & Helikon. Soltz looks to be a newbie to PBP and as such I would like to give him a chance to experience it, but on the other hand I want someone who knows what they are doing, which Helikon does seem to have a lot of PBP experience.
And then there's Redelia wanting to play a angel-blooded paladin of Sarenrae and she comes highly recommended by one of my most-respected players (Aldhranhal/Mended) so that says a LOT in her favor!
Does trying to add 4 more players sound like too much? At least it would be very easy to write them in as another adventuring group that you meet in the Spire. :) What do you all think?
EDIT: So to be clear I'm thinking of the drunk dwarf, the tower shield dwarf, one of the two healers, and the Paladin. I realize there's no arcane there and we may be kinda low there. We'll see.
And I still haven't finished going through all the recruitment prospects! Wuuu! I'd forgotten how much 'work' this can be! Hahahaha! ;)

            Greetings,
I have a character sheet in PDF form, but I am not sure how to post or link it. Here are the vital statistics I have for Brother Guiness so far:
Brother Guiness Male CG Angel-Touched (Dwarf) Fighter 2 | Resist Cold, Electricity, Acid 5, +1 versus fear, Alter Self 1x/day, Darkvision 60' | HP: 21 | AC: 20 (19 Tch, 11 Fl) | CMB: +5, CMD: 17 | F: +5, R: +2, W: +2 | Init: +2 | Perc: +2, SM: +2 | Greataxe +4/1d12+7, Tankard +4/1d6+5, Javelins +4/1d6+3 | Cleave and Cleaving Finish (extra attacks, conditional)| Speed 20 ft. due to armor (heirloom masterwork Dwarven Plate).
If someone can help me figure out how to share the PDF character sheet, that would be awesome.
Thanks,
BG

I have created a sort of 'tutorial/walk-through' to try to teach anyone how to fill out the tag-line to my preferences.
Someone please click on that link for the tutorial and let me know if it works.

Bro. Guiness, I will try to explain how to get your PDF on here, though Aldhranhald is much better at this than I am. So if my instructions don't work, ask him! He'll be most willing to help.
First, try copying the URL address of your PDF. Then on here, you would start with an opening bracket like this one [
Then immediately following that bracket type, url=
and after the equal sign paste that url address, immediately followed by a closing bracket ]
After the closing bracket you type whatever you want to call the link, in this case I would recommend: Character Sheet
Immediately following it without any spaces, type [/url]
hopefully that will work, and I also hope you can understand everything!

Your character sheet link works fine! YAY! Very nice by the way! I like the style of that sheet! About the only thing I see that would bother me personally is that the skills section doesn't show how much your ACP (Armor Check Penalty) is, but it is still one of the best detailed skill listing things I've seen. Where did you get that?
For the tutorial on setting up your tag-line I don't know if there is a way for me to make the whole file view-able by everyone? So here are the links to each individual page of the tutorial. Each of these are set to be view-able.

Everyone currently in the group (including Guiness): I would like opinions/input please whenever you can. No rush though. See time frame below.
I'm currently considering adding one more fighter type, a paladin, a healer, and an arcane caster. I'm not specifying anyone on here because I don't want any of the applicants to see who I'm currently considering. So along with Guiness that would be five more characters! Is that too much?
If you'd like to know more specifically who, send me a PM please.
I won't be making any final decisions until sometime between Thursday 7/20 - Sunday 7/23. To be honest, the reason for that delay? My current Playstation subscription expires 7/18 so I want to play now while I can! After the 18th I'll have a lot more time to study the submissions! What can I say? At least I'm being honest with you! :D

Stormstrider, the total armor check penalty is just to the left of the skills. The individual movement based skills have the penalty embedded. You can copy the file, clear the sheet, rename the file and use it. This is a fillable PDF I have had for several years from "Neceros. Modified by abellius@yahoo.com. Version 1.0.2012".

Sorry about the lack of posting. I have had my internet connection down for about a week. It is currently back on and off. Can't catch up on stuff just now, will do soon. Server permitting. :(
On new players, I think 4 more plus the dwarf is excessive.
Too many people to wait on for posts or try to get to agree on things. Maybe 2 plus dwarf?

| The All-Seeing Eye. |

If two + dwarf, which classes would you suggest?

| Aldhranhald |

My opinion on the numbers is that if you are going to slide Alex out, in favor of a PC healer, I'd be fine with the dwarf and three others. If Alex is going to continue to be part of the campaign (which I'm more than fine with btw, I just know how much extra work it is to run an NPC in PbP, and don't want to over tax our GM) :D, I think the dwarf and two others is just fine.
So, if Alex is staying I'd say Brother Guiness, an arcane caster, and the third option perhaps a utility character of some kind, that can offer skill and melee support if needed. If Alex is going to be replaced, my preference for additions would be, obviously Brother Guiness as the martial replacement, a healer type, an arcane caster type, and, again, that utility character that supports skills and can add in some melee damage.
As always, this is just my 2 cp, and I completely trust your judgement on such things Stormstrider.

Thank-you Aldhranhald for giving a specified opinion! I hope you know your opinion is worth a whole lot more than 2 cp to me! It's gotta be 2 Sp at least! ;)
I don't know about keeping Alex or not. In a sense, playing him I can 'speak-up' to make suggestions as a DM, without actually being in DM mode if you know what I mean? But that does seem like a small thing while allowing another player to replace him can put new 'blood'/thought processes/techniques into the game. So, oracle or medic? I'm not familiar with Medic at all.
All that being said, I didn't really see any submissions for what I would call a 'utility' character, unless maybe your referring to the Paladin? Melee/healing support being the utility? Or am I not seeing something?
I did seem to see several bloodragers or slayers, neither of which I had heard about previously.

Also I figured something had to be going on with Boudacia. It's not like him/her to not be posting.
Sorry to hear that Boudacia! Hope you can get that fixed soon! I know that's gotta suck!
But Tamlara? I haven't heard anything from her recently and she hasn't responded to a Facebook msg from late Friday night. I know her weekends can sometimes get complicated, so maybe that's it. No rush anyways right now, though I would still hope to have more detailed opinions from them as to new party members.

Yes, I was exactly talking about a paladin. :) I guess I was trying not to be too obvious about my particular favoritism... :P As to oracle or medic, I guess I don't have enough experience with either to make a recommendation one way or the other, so whatever you feel is best. :)

Dang! We never even got a complete paladin submission. So here's my new opinion. Keep Alex, obviously grab Brother Guiness, grab Sama Kattan, and Dakkrag Kellid, and off we go.
Again, my opinion, Stomstrider, you do what your gut tells you.

Aldhranhald, I never requested completed submissions, so the Paladin and others are till technically in play.
And again, thank-you for being so specific with your suggestions! I was hoping for you all to say specific players/characters from the list!

Also I figured something had to be going on with Boudacia. It's not like him/her to not be posting.
Sorry to hear that Boudacia! Hope you can get that fixed soon! I know that's gotta suck!
It seems OK today. But it responds to no logic known to man or beast, or at least me, so who knows.

My 2 pp.
Aldhranhald is contemplating a party of 7.In that event we probably need 2 front line combatants.
I would say we need the second front line combatant more than the "utility character" mentioned and as much as an arcane caster.

Well, the repair man was here earlier and everything seems roses since. :)
And a Paladin is to my mind a front line combatant and would fit the party balance very well.

@Boudacia, see this latest post of mine. I completely agree with you, Brother Guiness, and Dakkrag Kellid are both front line martial characters, and Samma Kattan is a wizard.

Yep. I agree completely that we agree completely. Great minds think alike.
I even had the post you referred to when I made my last post. I just didn't copy part of it.

Just to let everyone know I did PM Redelia, the possible Paladin, and she responded that she will try to submit a character this afternoon (Tue).
Pardon me while I Woot!

Sorry about my disappearing act, fellas. I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I read 'stop until we find someone' as 'stop completely until we find someone'. I have been spending nearly all my spare time vegging out on the sofa with my husband. I am catching up on the discussion thread now, and will be back in it all very soon. For now, I am still at work.

Let me know when you guys are ready for Brother Guiness to make an appearance. Depending on the preferences of the others who are invited to join, I am fine jumping into the action in the Spire and handling introductions later. Thanks, by the way, for inviting me to play. I haven't done this kind of thing before (PBP), and it looks interesting.

Hahahaha! Yeah, those stats are off the chart! I have told her that she's in.
So, Tamlara, we have another woman in the group now! And I mean an actual woman playing a female character! So, that means 3 female characters in the group so far? Wow! :O

| Kessa |
Hey everyone. Kessa is ready to go. Her background is a little vague still. I left the end blank to connect to however Stormstrider wants to bring my character into the party. Also, I can never write all of a character's background until I've started to see them interact with others.
One concern I want to answer: Kessa is shy. It's only until she knows people, though, so it shouldn't mess up group dynamics. I tend to assume that characters talk a lot to each other that isn't recorded, so it won't take much game time for her to warm up to most of you.
Her stats are high enough that I didn't use the most 'optimal' setup; I gave her a high wisdom because I wanted the flavor of that.
The only other thing that I should probably mention is that Kessa follows Sarenrae, so is very big on trying to redeem bad guys. She will probably give every bad guy a chance to repent at the beginning of a battle. She follows Sarenrae's paladin code rather than the generic one.
If you guys feel that the party needs to do something that Kessa probably can't approve of, for the sake of good she would be able to turn away and not notice what is going on, so she won't be too much of a stick in the mud.
Thank you for the recommendation/vote of confidence, Aldhranhald.
I look forward to a fun game with all of you.

Greetings, Kessa. I am also starting a new character with the group. He is headed north into the River Kingdoms as a caravan guard. You are welcome to join him in the caravan if you like, especially if we want to fast forward to the Spire.
