Stormrider, I do have one more question for you. As an angel-blooded aasimar, Kessa has the ability to 'alter self' once a day. I know you said no summoning because of how complicated that is, is there some other ability you would rather I have instead of alter self?
I have no issue with alter self. Now, if you are saying you would prefer to have something else, we can discuss that possibility. Let me know if your wanting something different and your reasoning behind the switch.

Welcome Kessa! And you, Brother Guiness, it's good to have you in the group! It'll be good to get started again, and to not be the only one with darkvision any more!

Thank you, Tamlara. It is possible that you have met Brother Guiness before...maybe 5 years ago south of Fort Inevitable in the Five Kings Mountains. BG was making the transition from street urchin to mercenary apprentice and you were helping him out--maybe slipping him some food out the back of the tavern where you were waiting tables? If so, he may have known where you were from (Fort Inevitable) and may just be on his way for a visit!

WHAT THE HUHZUHWHAZZA?!?!?
I can only guess that this is some sort of reference to having a guy playing a female character? Or what is the meaning of this post please? Please explain your thought/intent? Or your interpretation of what these words mean? Or ... something?!?!?
**************************************************************
I don't know why, but Paizo was not showing me there were new posts in the discussion tab, I just happened to find them!
****************************************************************
A heads-up EVERYBODY! I have also invited Sama Kattan, sylph wizard (air elementalist) to join us! I hope you will all give her a warm welcome! - She was the only arcane caster to apply, so ... Hahaha! ;)
We seem to be getting a mostly female adventuring group together here! Not that it affects the game at all, but I just find it ... interesting?/amusing?/unusual?/all-of-the-previous?
*******************************************************************
Also, I really haven't heard a preference per say on keeping Alex or inviting a new healer in? I have decided I'm not taking the Medic, because I don't understand the class rules and such. So we have two choices left, Gansu Kaichuta - Aasimar Pai Zin Oracle or Runa Fendin - Aasimar Lunar Oracle. Any preferences/thoughts/opinions?

Hello! Looks like I will be joining this expedition!
I've read that blasters are not an optimal use of magic, so I'm planning to eventually spread into some control magic, but for now it's going to be lightning all the way.
Let me know if there are specific spells that you'd like for me to pick up to help the group!
Pleased to meet you all!

Sorry for being incomprehensible. I am playing in another PbP run by an English professor and he and I have exchanged favourite quotes for no clear reason at times. This is another example of that kind of self indulgence.
No, it has nothing to do with males playing female characters. The only reason for posting the quote was the last word of the last post and the last word of the quote were both "switch".
It is about female sexuality.

It certainly is.
Female gamers are a minority, if a growing one.Males playing females, or vice versa, is fairly rare. Fairly often males who play female characters have them act like women in porn movies or some other kind of joke, which gets old very fast. I certainly don't.
I think what we should do is have the minority of male characters cross-dress. It will confuse and intimidate monsters.

Boudacia,
If it gets us an advantage over the monsters, Brother Guiness will wear whatever you want, but it might lose some of its impact under the full plate armor. He draws the line at his beard, but even I don't know if female dwarves have beards, so that is likely a non-issue. On the other hand, BG can be whatever humanoid race and gender needed once a day (Alter Self), so who knows...
Aldhranhald
Huzzah!!! Welcome Kessa, Brother Guiness and Sama Kattan!!! It will be very nice to fill in the ranks, so to speak, with your characters.
Stormstrider, as to the question of replacing Alex. As I said previously if that is what you want, so that you can focus strictly on GMing, that's fine. In fact, now seems as good a time as any, since we'll be writing Tangar out, it would be very easy to GM fiat Tangar taking a wound, and Alex, being a healer at heart, helping Tangar to leave the Spire, so that he can take care of him... That said, of the two healer characters offered for replacement, my choice would be for Gainsu. One reason is that his tagline is already completely filled out, except for maybe a link to a pdf or other browser friendly character sheet. Also Gainsu has an extensive backstory, which leads to easy role playing. So, that's my opinion about that. It's funny, but we need to realize that with Tangar and Alex leaving. The group coming in is actually going to be bigger than the existing characters. Which means that Boudacia, Tamlara, and Aldhranhald will actually be the people assimilating into a previously existing group, at least from the narrative perspective. Seems to me the best way to meet is to have Kessa, Brother Guiness, Sama, and Gainsu meet up with us as we fight to defeat the construct we are currently facing. Might want to wait until Tangar takes his grievous wound (for story purposes) before they barrel in to rescue us. :)
Welcome one and all, thanks for joining!

A matching set of +1 chainmail corset, stockings and suspenders should be ideal. And very fetching.

Car died. in the rain. me and friend nice enough to come get me, pushing BIG HEAVY buick park ave uphill, in the rain about half block across major 4 lane hwy with no power steering to get it off road into parking lot. Me? excercise? Never. Me in shape? DEFINITELY NOT!!!! Me now exhausted. me still wondering about pain in left arm??? but no chest pain. and me talking silly on purpose. don't think it be heart attack. but thought did cross mind more than once.
Just so you know and can see here, yes, I was talking silly on purpose because that is the way I'm feeling. There is some pain in my left shoulder, but I think it's just from the exertion of pushing the car. So as you can see I am using at least fairly proper grammar, and I'm making sense - or at least I think I am?!?! - so I'm fairly certain that I'm not having said heart attack. But if suddenly I don't post here or my campaign ... :(
EDIT: Oh oops that last part should read ... or in Mended's game ... just didn't feel like correcting it even though that would have been less typing. Maybe I'm not thinking coherently? Or maybe that's just part of the ... 'silly'? that I'm feeling? Me not know. me need go beddy bye. it 2:15 am and me running on about 4.5 hrs sleep since 8 am. full day at work, lengthy (but fun) gaming session tonight, car trouble ...g'night
Stormstrider
On the other hand, our DM for one of my tabletop games had a friend visiting from out of town who was curious to learn/hear more about our adventuring campaign so he ran an extra session last night and included her in the game. Multiple near death experiences were had! It was fun! :D
We were in a desert area travelling through a canyon. Party is level 11, 6 players present last night. We have had for a while now a 20 ft tall skeleton/construct that one of our players managed to gain control over. Most of the places we go it cannot get inside, so usually it just serves as bodyguard but mainly transportation! 4 of us have hammocks or bedding rigged up somewhere inside it's body! So we still get to travel towards our destination and rest at the same time! The 6 ft tall ... not sure exactly what he is? some sort of living construct made of stone, metal and organic parts? - but a GREAT warrior! - rides sitting on one of the feet holding on to the ankle!
So, as were going through this canyon we hear 'skittering' from the ridges above us. (My pyromancer/sorcerer/efreeti-blooded has a + 19 to his perception currently!) then we see several pairs of arms extend as they throw a gigantic net out over our skeleton friend/ride! Our oracle/cleric riding in the skull casts air wall and blows the net away! Nothing else seems to be happening though we can still hear them moving around. My character loves his fireballs! I decide to cast fly and fly straight up so I can see them and then murder them right? After all in just my robes before any mage armor I have an AC 19 and I have 100 HP!!! I should be fine! ... They were holding actions! With crossbows! With bolts tipped with scorpion venom! Humans riding on scorpions! 10 of them. Freaking SEVEN of them managed to get past my AC! Two of them critted! That alone did 61 points of damage! Then I had to make the seven saves! I only got about half of them! I lost 7 CON! With my Con of 17 that was another -33 HP! I had 6 HP left! (If I did all my maths right!) Con loss sucks! Several of our party members have some means of flying or other, though two of those do involve the skeleton just picking them up and throwing them! (Still 'flying' right?) They have feather fall for the landing. So the rest of the party starts working their way up to the top of the ridge. The oracle/cleric channels to heal me for 24 HP so I'm up to 30. The scorpion riding humans get to go again before I can! I get hit for aother 12 HP! Then I have to make saves agaist the poison again. Roll badly, end up losing another 8 CON!!!! I drop to a Con of TWO!!!! That's a -4 penalty! I lose another 44 HP! Going to a -32? HP!! Technically I'm dead, but the poison rules in this case or the DM I don't know, says I can't die from it so I just go uncoscious. WHILE FLYING 50 FT UP IN THE AIR!!!! No longer flying. Falling. The skeleton catches me! The others engage in heroic battle. When it gets back to the oracle he does what he likes to call pulling the 'emergeny rip-cord' and casts heal on me! YAY! Heals all poison, all ability damage and 10 HP per level so 110 HP! (And it heals a BUNCH of other stuff as well!) I'm back to full health! (100 HP). Most of the others hve been engaged in melee, but nothing spectacular happening currently. My turn comes around, I decide I'm a little 'traumatized'? I get inside the skeleton's skull. I cast Mage armor. Next round I cast shield. Mentally I'm saying @#$% this! In the meantime, one of the other players has an idea. Tells the skeleton to grab that big net, and use it! It grabs the net, climbs part way up the wall, throws the net over managing to snag three of the humans and their scorpions! And proceeds to pull them over the ledge where they fall to their deaths!
The 'living construct' warrior, gets surrounded by 3 - now riderless - scorpions and one with a rider. His turn? He has all of the available cleave feats! Manages to strike out and hit all five target dealing 30+ damage to each! They are still alive though. Their turn, the scorpions say screw their masters and flee! AoO to the warrior who manages to kill one. I look out and see human on scorpion fleeing, another party member says don't let it get away. It is some 440 ft away so no magic missile. So? ... FIREBALL! for just the scorpion with a humman rdier on his back! Human turns out to be a rogue. Makes his reflex save takes no damage, BUT! The scorpion don't have that feat and doesn't make its save! Due to feats, my fireball does 11 d6!!! I managed something in the area of 50+ damage. Human ends up laying spread eagled flat on his face!- By the way, I can currently do this fireball up 7 times a day with a current range of 880 ft Reflex for half DC 22! Few things can run away from me without at least taking some damage! I also have an elemental blast (Efreeti) within 60 ft of me, 1/day, a 12 d6, 20ft burst, reflex for half DC 26!!! Those who fail gain vulnerability to fire until the end of my next turn, which means they take an additional 50% damage - REGARDLESS of their saves! Anyways, we let the one human live (after having a VERY intimidating 'talk' with him which involved the Centaur paladin (The visiting friend) walk up to the prone human and stomping one of her hooves down right next to his ball sack!) so he can tell the others not to try to steal our skeleton. That is what they were trying to do, because they didn't notice all the 'people' inside! Hahaha!
For the other encounter we had that night, we also have a largish sphere, about the size of a halfling? That allows me and anyone I wish to take with me, to astral travel for 1 hr. We can travel very quickly in that manner and common enemies can't detect us, so we like to use it to 'scout' ahead. Of course for any big bosses they somehow have some form of detecting a 'presence' so they aren't 'suprised' when we show up! Anyhow ... We were hearing 'thundering' sounds from up ahead in the canyon, but the skies are clear. This canyon is of course the only path to take to our destination! So 3 of us go astral and scout ahead. We find tracks. Human looking, except they are Giant-sized, and by giant I mean MOUNTAIN GIANT SIZED!!! We follow the track of apparently only one of them to a gigantic cave, go inside, find the giant sleeping. It gets described as being large enough to pick up out 20 ft tall skeleton and use it as a one handed weapon! It starts to wake up. I'm telling the other two let's get outta here! They decide they wanna stay and watch. One of them even starts trying to poke it and mess with it. Our astral forms just go right through it. It can obviously tell there is a 'presence' or something. DM rules that we can cast detect Magic while astral, so we do. The 'leather' or 'hide' armor (Dinosaur skin looks like?) and the war hammer are both magical. I keep telling the others we need to go! They keep ignoring me. The giant gets up and heads outside. It does have to get down on hands and knees to crawl out. The one keeps messing with the giant. The cleric and I decide to stay in the cave a moment longer checking it out. We do find several appropriatley sized giant chests, and the DM reminds us in Astral form we can stick our heads in them if we want. The cleric immediately does so! He finds they are filled with gold and gems! We go outside. The one barbarian character is still messing with the giant, while the oracle/cleric decides to start yelling at it to see if it can hear us. At the yelling it does turn slowly in that direction and swings it's appropriately sized war hammer around as if 'searching' for something. Finally the hour of astral form is up and we go back to our bodies! I decide this is the last time I'm allowing that barbarian character that was messing with the giant to come on astral travel with me! The other party members decided to have some 'fun' and drew stuff with soot on my face and his while our bodies were in their 'unconscious state'. We decide we want to try to take on the giant. Greedy as we are!!! We come up with a plan to approach stealthily by everyone riding the skeleton and I will cast fly on it when we get closer. We're travelling down the path and we start hearing 'thump' sounds behind us. We see nothing. The oracle/cleric has a very smart idea to use his create water cantrip and just starts soaking the ground behind us! Soon enough we suddenly see a mountain giant sized footstep suddenly 'thump' into the muddy sand about 50 ft behind us!!! INITIATIVES!!! I'm preparing to cast Glitterdust, when the oracle/cleric caste purge invisibility! And we can all see it! We all have to make fear checks! Everybody but our rogue & myself pass! The two of us are high enough level that we only get shaken. -2 to all d20 rolls basically. I'm a sorcerer! I don't care! Elemental blast that suckers ass! It fails it's reflex. Deal something like 50 +/- HP! We had two melee characters last night. One, the centaur decides she want to get behind it, not thinking about the AoO! It smacks her for some 80+/- damage! She's up, but hurting! 'Living construct' guy charges in ... don't remember results, nothing spectacular. Rogue starts shooting arrows. GIANT attacks! Swinging its war hammer right through the legs pf our skeleton ride!!! We all fall down! Reflex to stay up, most of us do! Oracle/cleric starts channeling healing (he only has 1 'Heal' per day for now). I cast my "Fire Snake" spell. It creates a 60 ft path, 5 ft wide, dealing 1d6 fire damage per level and since all my 'evocations' are cast at 1 level higher it deals 12 d6 to each creature in its path! Reflex for half DC 24! DM won't let me make the path criss-cross over the sma creature multiple times regretably, but understandably. Anyways, nothing else spectacular that I can recall. The Paladin centaur (visiting friend) does almost get killed, but thanks to her lay-on-hands ability as a swift action when it's for herself, at 5d6, and the oracle channeling healing she manages to survive barely. Giant's legs give out, it falls on top of the 'living construct' who digs himself out next round ... swing, hit, damage, cast, cause damage, etc etc, I decide to try my enervation spell, ranged touch ray, no save, cause loss of 1d4 negative levels, I hit his touch which the DM tells us is only an 11! By the way, his AC was ... 32? 33? or so! So lots of attack were missing! My first enervation and I only rolled a 1 on the level loss! I tried again next turn and only got a 2! Before my next turn Giant finally dies! Later the DM tells me the giant was immune to negative energy, so no level loss!!! The skeleton ride, is dead from when it got its legs crushed. Construct brought to 0Hp dies. We have a 'chest-of-holding' the skeleton was carrying. It has a very large capacity, I don't know how much. When the rogue said we would put all the gold/gems in there, the DM laughed in his face! Made it clear between bags of holding, my Floating Disk spell - 3-ft.-diam. horizontal disk holds 100 lbs./level, so 1100 lbs at this point for 11 hrs! - but between all of us we will be able to carry away the gold/gems though we will have no other space. It was late by then so DM called it and will tell us about all the loot next gaming session, but that is not scheduled until 8/2 because we do alternate months on Wed night. This month I'm running Emerald Spire, in August we go back to his campaign. Anyways, hope you enjoyed the read! Sorry if it was too long or boring!

Everybody, please welcome Gansu Kaichuta, the angelkin Aasimar Oracle to the game!
He will be replacing Alex if all goes according to plan.
************************************************************
Now, for the new people in this campaign, Brother Guiness, Kessa, Sama Kattan, & Gansu Kaichuta, I do ask that you please take a little time and fill out your information on this Google doc The Emerald Spire Dice Rolls.
EDIT:Wow!!! I just saw that BG has already filled in most of his info on there without ever being told to do so! Impressive! However! I do want everybody to fill in all the knowledge's, even if you don't have them as a class skill or are not trained please! Please see the format used by the rest of the group for those 'untrained' knowledge's. Thank you!
BG & Kessa you're doing an excellent job of 'presenting' your characters so far! Thanks!
As soon as I see all the new people checked in we will try get our story/game going again! Hoping my current party hasn't gotten too comfy or lazy and they are ready to get going again!
Gansu Kaichuta
Huzzah!
Excited to join the game. I have actually been lurking in this thread for a while to see if I would get picked.
Gansu is an Angelkin Aasimar just like Alex. If you wanted and it doesn't bother people too much I could just have Alex unmask and say "Actually my real name is Gansu!" Or I can start with Grother Guiness and Kessa on the caravan that is pulling into town. Whichever works better for you guys.
Gansu is a healer and a frontliner. At 2nd level he will probably save most of his spell slots for healing but as he gains in levels he will also become something of a buffing cleric.
Looking forward to playing with you guys.

Stormstrider
Gansu, and this would apply to Sama as well, if you all want you can be part of the guard duty or something on that caravan or come up with your own way of arriving into town.
What I am planning for the new arrivals is for the four of you to join up as a party of adventurers going into the Spire, and when I write in your first appearance there you would 'walk into' the next room (A10 on the Battle Grid coming in from room A11). The battle against the two hostiles there should be very easy, short and simple (key words should be!), and then I plan for you all to 'choose' to join up together.
I would highly recommend the new arrivals read up especially on some of the earlier game-play where this current party took on some assignments in town. I will try to post a bit more about that later or if any of the current party wants to post a 'refresher' of the 'jobs' you were hired for feel free!
Stormstrider
WOW!!! So, I updated the "Links to all current Character in-game Races and Classes:" at the top of the page. By the way I added alignments to it as well (just not links to any alignment descriptions). This made me realize, three of the four new characters are Angel-blooded Aasimars!!! WoW! And the fourth character is still an outsider type as well! Hahahaha! This could get interesting ...
So that everybody knows the name is a link to your 'character sheet', then the race, sub-type, class and any other specifics are linked there for my easy reference. I did notice a couple of you used links to the Archives of ... Nethrys? or something like that? I use D20PSRD but I saw no difference in the actual info presented, so I don't think it's an issue.

Boudacia, Kessa,
Pink is an interesting choice for Full Plate, but it was made by BG's mother, so that is a possibility. It might be a bit too difficult for Guiness to blend in, though, and given his past he may want to be less easy to spot in a lineup...I mean crowd. Perhaps matching tabards for the group? They could be rolled up and stowed when not in use, but otherwise could be whatever we want--who wants to come up with a design and group name? I can already tell one of the main colors needs to be pink...
P.S. I updated BG's dice rolls and character sheet including the Background skills mechanic -- now he has both Profession Brewing and Profession Gambling -- so I think he is ready to go!
P.P.S. If Gansu wants to be in the caravan guard, feel free to come join the conversation in-game with BG and Kessa. The more the merrier!
Stormstrider
BG, it is time for a little PBP education. And this is not a reprimand or me fussing, I'm just trying to teach you for future reference.
You should not make posts that put other characters in a location where they have not already said they are. For example,
... this Gansu fellow, one of the other caravan guards.
but Gansu has not as of yet said that he is one of the caravan guards. He may very well turn out to be one, but he hasn't said so yet. You understand? So when you say something about other characters, make sure to not put 'words-into-their-mouths' nor 'actions-in-their-footsteps' please.
*****************************************
And just so we are clear, I have no issue with joking around and being silly in the discussion tab, buy there shall be no pink armor nor team names involving the word 'pink' or any synonyms of it, in the actual game-play! Otherwise I may have to invoke the village of pink-hating Balrogs on your 2nd level characters. ;)
Brother_Guiness
|
Stormstrider,
I apologize. I interpreted Gansu's post in the Gameplay tab as a request to join the caravan guard, and I was trying to provide a natural way to bring him into the conversation. You also mentioned that would be okay if he wanted to be part of the caravan guard.
Dot.
Where Am I? Am I starting with Brother Guinness and Kessa?
I will wait for confirmation next time. My apologies to you, Gansu, if this was not your intent.
The All-Seeing Eye.
And by the way for you spellcasters, if you look below the map on the Battlegrid you will see that most, and perhaps all, spell templates are covered their, so once you cast a spell feel free to copy/paste the corresponding template to use on the map. You may have to adjust it slightly based on the size of the map for it to fit properly. Please do so just by clicking a corner of the template's outline and 'dragging/stretching' it that way so that it keeps the appropriate over-all format.
REMEMBER! UNDO IS YOUR BEST FRIEND ON THAT MAP!
By the way in order to allow you all to move your characters on the map I have to grant you editing rights, so I am trusting you not to peek at uncovered areas of the map.
A link to the battle-grid will always be at the top of the page and also will appear in place of a tag-line when I post as "The All Seeing Eye." like I've done here so you can see it.
Also on the map off to the right side there is a list covering most or all conditions that could come up in game, so when these happen either I or the player that caused the 'condition' should copy/paste the corresponding symbol on top of the corresponding image. Also the word naming the condition is a link you can click on to open a description of that condition and its effects for game rules purposes.
I'm always open to suggestions for improving any aspect of the game. All I ask is that you be 'diplomatic' in making your suggestions please. Serious suggestions will be considered as such.
Stormstrider
So, my 'unemployed' friend I was going to hire to drive me to work and such? Got a job! I'm glad for him! ... but, that means my landlord is going to give me rides ... being stuck with him in the car for about 20 minutes each way, every day, well, at least I'll really be motivated to save money for another car!
Trying to think positive here! Trying, trying, ... but failing! :(
Stormstrider
One of the players asked me for clarification whether I was serious or not about the 'pink' because of the 'wink' I put afterwards.
The wink was in reference to said 'pink-hating' Balrogs.
I would be one of those 'pink-hating' Balrogs.
Pink's ok in the right circumstances, but a male dwarven fighter - which stereo-typically is a very male/macho image, being in pink full plate? No.
Gansu Kaichuta
Gansu, and this would apply to Sama as well, if you all want you can be part of the guard duty or something on that caravan or come up with your own way of arriving into town.

I made Gansu an Angel-Blooded Aasimar because I was replacing one, and I thought it was possible that I would have to just turn out to have been disguised as alex all along. So I made a character that was deliberately similar.
What's everyone else's excuse? :)
I did notice a couple of you used links to the Archives of ... Nethrys?
I prefer Archives of Nethys (the Paizo god of Magic BTW) for two reasons:
1. It is way faster than PFSRD
2. When something in Paizo material lists product identity (like the names of specific gods or nations) Nethys lists them where PFSRD does not. There are some spells and traits and things that are specific to a deity or ethnicity or location and these details are left out of PFSRD.
The downside of Archives of Nethys is it lists no 3pp materials. Paizo only.
BYW: I feel that pink armor should only be worn if it includes a tutu. :)

Hello, Sama!
Blasters are very close to my heart and I thought I would mention a few things.
1. Most blasting spells use a dice/level formula so one of your primary goals should be to find ways to increase your caster level to get more dice.
Varisian Tattoo is a really good one... and Ironically the avatar image you chose is from a character that has such tattoos.
Spell Specialization is even better... for one specific spell. But you can change which spell the feat affects every time you level up. Once you get lightning bolt I'm guessing you will leave it there.
You currently have the Elemental Focus feat. Nothing wrong with that feat, but almost every spell that deals lightning damage will also be Evocation, but spell focus evocation also boosts spells that do other types of damage. I would take that Spell Focus first and Elemental Focus second, unless you are looking for something that has Elemental Focus as a prerequisite.
If the GM is open to last-minute changes to your character and also to swapping out your Scribe Scroll feat for Spell Focus (which is how Wizards work in PFS) I would suggest starting with Spell Focus: Evocation and then one of these two feats.
Finally, there is Greater Spell Specialization, which allows you to take any prepared slot and turn it into a specific spell later on. I'd pick lightning bolt. So you can cast it as many times as you want, and you can still prepare control spells and such.
2. Metamagic Feats are your best friend. Particularly Empower Spell, Intensified Spell, Maximize Spell, and Quicken Spell. Most of the time a spell boosted by a feat like one of these is more powerful than a higher level spell of the same final spell slot level.
As a wizard you have an advantage here because you get more feats than a sorcerer. Also remember to get metamagic rods whenever you have the chance. If you have prepared a maximized lightning bolt with a 6th level spell slot, you can still use a lesser metamagic rod on it because maximize does not increase the level of the spell, only the slot it uses.
You could also get feats like Dazing Spell for status effects instead of damage.
3. Spells that do 1dN/Level damage over an area of effect are your main tools. Being a blaster means never having to roll to hit (because wizards usually suck at that). Burning hands is the classic AoE blast at 1st level. If the GM is willing, ask if you can have a custom version of burning hands that does electrical damage (and maybe works in a 30' line instead of a 15' cone). If you are blasting that is a spell you will use a lot of.
The next one you will likely get will be lightning bolt (though there is aggressive thundercloud at 2nd level). And at higher levels lightning bolt + metmagic is mostly all you will need for blasts.
About spell choices:
1. As a sylph you have access to windy escape. This is a fantastic "save your bacon" spell that you can cast when someone hits you. Definitely you should have this one.
2. Brilliant arc is a really weak spell that even at 3rd level will only do 1d4 damage to it's primary target. I know you want to throw electricity, but for a single target spell you should consider ear-piercing scream. It will do 1d6 sonic damage and possibly daze your target. Or there's magic missile, which is also superior. You could say that the missiles "look like" lightning.
3. Shield is decent, but it only lasts for 2 minutes. Mage armor will last for 2 hours.
One more thing: There are two types of mundane armor that a wizard can wear: a Haramaki or Silken Ceremonial Armor. The Haramaki only costs 3 gp. If you are not allowed to get eastern items it is worth mentioning that both the Romans and the Celts had similar things. However, a haramaki will not stack with mage armor.

Hit dice is max + Con at 1st lev and then roll each level after that (+ Con of course!) and you may re-roll 1's one time.
Also my ruling on regaining HP at a full rest is 1 HP per level + your Con modifier as long as it is a bonus (does not apply if you happen to have a low = neg penalty Con.)

Gansu, those are some GREAT suggestions for the blaster/caster! I have no problem with your suggestion of burning hands/electrical line or the 'electric-looking' magic missiles. Of course it is up to Sama if she wants to or not. I'm fine with the haramaki armor.
I play a Sorcerer/pyromancer/efreeti blooded in another campaign and already had Varisian tattoo, and spell focus/greater spell focus evocation (I'm 11th lev) but the spell specialization sounds GREAT!!!

Everybody! I do allow for changes to your characters spells/feats/skills - pretty much any change, as long as it has not been previously used in the game. Once you have used it, you're stuck with it.

No.
I'm sorry, Stormy, but Brother Guiness can have any color armor he wants. As can any character. There is no reason any of us should be obliged to ahere to stereotypes. I personally like the tutu idea, and I also think matching tabards would be awesome! Matching tabards with tutu's?

Hit die: 1d6 ⇒ 6
I should've been clearer - I was asking if there were specific spells I could take to help other characters in the group or fill their needs. At this level I find that vanish is usually desirable (so rogues can guarantee getting into position and making a sneak attack) and if the group has a monk then mage armor is typically welcomed.
A few notes:
* If you check my spellbook you'll see that I already have magic missile.
* I took shield because of its useful ability to negate magic missiles. If I wind up stuck in melee combat, things have already gone horribly wrong.
* I chose not to take Varisian Tattoo trait because the character is not Varisian (and not even human!), and Focused Mind reflects her obsessive nature with pursuit of academia and arcana.
* Brilliant arc is a terrible spell at this level, but it's electricity, which fits the theme that I'm trying to follow. If I get rid of brilliant arc then I should also get rid of the Elemental Focus feat, which in turn means I'm moving away from the lightning-themed character build that I want. So I'm taking a deliberate hit now to play a character in a specific theme. In the future I will likely pick up Elemental Spell (so I can turn non-electric spells into electricity and vice versa) and Intensified Spell.
* I didn't take eastern armor because most DMs consider it unavailable to characters who are not in that part of Golarion, and as I noted earlier if I'm in melee combat, things have already gone horribly wrong!

[dice=Hit die]1d6 = 6 ...other stuff ... If I wind up stuck in melee combat, things have already gone horribly wrong.
... and as I noted earlier if I'm in melee combat, things have already gone horribly wrong!
GREAT Hit die roll! Congrats!
And very funny, but also very true to what you say about things being horribly wrong there!
And obviously you have the right to play your character anyway you want to (within the limits of the rules of course!). Though I think we could make your magic missiles look like ... 'little' electric bolts? If you want to that is! :D
Stormstrider
I'm fine with the flavor, but mechanically they still don't do electrical damage, which means I can't turn it into sonic, among other things. :D
Of course! :)
I play another human sorcerer pyromancer, and he has a cantrip fire ray for 1d3 damage, so just for flavor that DM will let me 'pop' balls of fire in my hands for just 1 round at a time, or light peoples pipes, start the campfire, etc etc. I love doing little things like that just for character flavor.
I like that your not trying to min/max the power for your character, but rather going for a theme just because that's what you want. I appreciate that.
And a question for you Sama, I don't see a drawback listed for your character? Did I miss something? I do see two traits and my ruling is either one trait/no drawback or two traits and 1 drawback. (From what I've seen if one looks around enough, the drawback can almost be a benefit as well though!)
*******************************************************************
And Kessa first I just want to say I had not realized Paladin's get to add their Cha to all saves starting at 2nd! In your case that makes your saves freaking awesome! Congrats!
I do have a question for you that I didn't catch before. Your skills, if I'm doing the math correctly you seem to have a total of 10 skill points listed? (2 in each) But should only have 8 as far as I can tell. Am I missing something?

Gansu, every one else has filled out the Dice Rolls Doc. Still need yours on there please. And the easiest way to do it to make sure you keep the right format, is just copy/paste one of the other lines in that group, and just change the name and your modifier #.

Also to everybody, house rule, if your race grants you a bonus to a skill (Such as the angel-blooded Aasimar's Heal & Knowledge planes), then that skill is now a class skill for you. It just makes sense to me that if you are innately knowledgeable in that area, then it should be more easily accessible to you. I suspect that was the intent of the authors/creators maybe?
Also just so the new people are aware, I have what I like to refer to as CDO, but is more commonly known as OCD. I just spell it alphabetically. ;) While technically it has no effect on the game I tend to notice things like the format on the dice rolls doc not being followed, or the 'moving around' of things on the map and such. If you ask Aldhranhald, Boudacia, or Tamlara I think/hope? that they would say it has not been a problem and that I have not 'fussed' at anyone about it? Just thought you should be aware as the better we know each other, then the better we can get along. Hopefully we are all in this for the long haul and it might be nice to become actual 'friends' that last for years!

AC protects against ranged attacks too. And as I mentioned, the Haramaki had western equivalents. The Ancient Romans called it a "Cingulum" and the Celts had something similar that we call "Halstatt Belts" (though we don't know what the Celts actually called them).
I am playing a 3rd level blaster sorcerer in another game and most of the time he gets by without either mage armor or shield, but he has windy escape. He also carries a longspear to try and keep enemies from closing into melee (though he really sucks with it).
* I chose not to take Varisian Tattoo trait because the character is not Varisian...
Not the trait. The feat. It is unfortunate that there are two different abilities that have the same name. But the feat is the one that is important. I included a link in my previous post.
You don't have to be Varisian to have a Varisian tattoo (the feat, anyway)... you just need to know a Varisian tattoo artist. And Varisians get around.
* Brilliant arc is a terrible spell at this level, but it's electricity...
I figured that's why you chose it.
But since the GM has approved you using a custom spell based on burning hands I would switch to that. You will do 2d4 damage, potentially to multiple targets (or 3d4 if you switch up your feats like I suggested).
Also I am not saying you shouldn't have the elemental focus feat. I am saying you should get both spell focus and elemental focus. But spell focus should probably come first, because it is a prerequisite for a lot of other cool feats and it covers most lightning spells anyway, along with every other evocation spell.
Elemental spell is a useful feat too, though you can get a lesser metamagic rod of it for 3000 gp. There is also the Mask of Conflicting Energies which would turn a lightning spell to an acid spell.

OK I'll get to that shortly.

If I may suggest? Making one post or two with suggestions one thinks might be an improvement for a character is fine, but if the player is not receptive to it then please do not continue doing so as it may quickly become annoying. Thanks.

I have added the pictures/mini's for the new players to the Battlegrid! They are over on the left in the "Box of Mini's/Player's Characters" section. Please feel free to place your 'mini' on the map anywhere in room A11 or just entering the doorway to room A10 like Tamlara is.
We will get the game rolling soon here!

Fair enough.
Edit: As the healer I figure I will probably not be first through the door, so I put my 'mini' just to one side.

Kessa gets 2 skills per level from class, 2 per level from int, and has taken a skill point for favored class bonus, which gives 5 per level, or a total of ten. I would guess that the favored class bonus wasn't clear in the stat block writeup I posted.
Oh yes!!! Thank you for reminding me! FCB! I do want the new people (I already know the previous ones) to tell me your FCB per level please!
Thanks Kessa! Figured I had missed something! :)

For Gansu, for levels 1-3 it will be hit points.
Then for the levels above that, since he has the Scion of Humanity alternate racial trait and counts as human for game effects, he will use the human racial favored class bonus to get extra spells known. These spells are always 1 level below the highest level he can cast, so at levels 4 and 5 they will be first level spells, 6 and 7 will be second-level spells, and so on.
I might dip into Paladin for two levels at some point.

Brother Guiness likes to be in the front when possible, unless there is a rogue checking the door. Not that he runs in and attacks all the time, but he can be a shield for the more fragile members of the party. That being said, if another front liner wants to waltz past, no problem...

Brother Guiness:
You seem to have the best AC and HP of any of the new group. So you might as well take the door if nobody has any objection. You can always move through a friendly character's space, so you won't be an obstacle.
