All - I have no problem with people modifying their character (within reason!!!!) whilst we are based in Fort Inevitable...once we head towards the Emerald Spire, things will be a little more rigid (although the maxim, 'if it isn't fun, fix it', will always apply).

I PM'd Marian a while back... He seems to have gone absent from other games as well... But it is about Summer Holiday time, so maybe he is without Internet for a while. I will GMPC him if required but hopefully he will return soon...
So what would people like to do about Marian? It's looking quite unlikely that the player is coming back...he's been quiet in all of the games that he is / was playing in...
Choices are:
(A) Booted from game, Character returns to Fort Inevitable...leaving you as a group of 4
(B) I continue to GMPC him....keeps you as a group of 5 but I'm not convinced having the GM playing the heavy hitter / goblin squisher is much fun for the rest of you...
(C) One of you takes over his character, at least until the end of this level...
(B) and (C) both give Marian's player an opportunity to return...at least in the short term...
Thoughts, Opinions, Other Suggestions?

I dunno, it's been nearly 3 weeks, but I'd hate to boot somebody.
I'd vote B, mostly cause I'm horrible at controlling two characters.
However, I will swing my vote to whatever the majority is....

I can run Marian until we return. If he doesn't return, we can get a replacement.
Ok, unless Dru or Symon strongly think otherwise, let's go with Luther controlling Marian...
Hopefully he'll return (although I doubt it...and I'd want some guarantee from him that it won't happen again) and, when we get through this first level of the Spire, we can reconsider what to do (which is probably a choice of running with 4 or a recruitment)
Let's push on...now we are down to 4, can I ask you to try to achieve the 1 post per day target...

Ok, my last post must not have taken...I was fine with the suggestion...but in the long run I think we need a new tank....
The good news is that the Emerald Spire is written in such a way that routine returns to Fort Inevitable are not only possible...they are probably encouraged. There will definitely be an opportunity to run a recruitment for another player...

Sounds good to me. We're going to need to replace him at some point if he does not return, but in the short term, if Luther is comfortable running him, then I say go for it.

All - if you are hiking back to Fort Inevitable, it may be the appropriate time to wave goodbye to the GMPC (Luther PC!!!) and get a fifth player...How would you like to approach this?
Options are:
- Run a recruitment (on these boards (which I could start immediately)
- You suggest someone from any other games you are playing in
- Maybe take Ea up on her offer

i have no problems with either, so if I had to make a choice, it would be the dwarf. Ea is already in one of GM zed's games.

I had an idea of a martial character, probably a human fighter to keep things as simple as possible.
So, I would like to invite Dezco to join our game…as per Conner’s observation, as Ea is already in my second Emerald Spire game, I’d prefer to bring someone new in….and, given that I have a ‘someone new’ with a character that requires ‘minor tweaking’ at most, we’re good to go….
I will engineer you meeting each other in the ‘Juliver Arms’…

Dezco, the light probably isn't bothering you. Apparently regardless of the source, light only extends 5' from the source. That's why I brought so many sunrods. If I have to I can light up a room by lighting and dropping them... XD
Lol I know, I was just playing it like how in RL while I'm trying to get some sleep and then my phone's screen lights up for some reason and I'm "Augh, you evil little bastard."

This where we discuss tactics. If you are in front of Luther with readied weapon, you would get an aoo if he fails save. If you ready an attack to be triggered on his apprach, you would get another.
Do AoO's and Readied Attacks stack like that?
I don't see why they wouldn't...you can ready to attack when your enemy moves into range...and then take an AoO when your enemy attempts to go past (moving through a threatened squares)
Unfortunately...in this case, there isn't enough room for your enemy to move past you...I don't think Command allows for anything other than normal movement...so passing through enemies spaces won't happen...(equally, I don't think unlocking the door, which isn't a move action shouldn't happen either...but that would be terribly unfair on you guys)
...so, if Luther's Command works, expect the door to open and the enemy to walk as far as the first person it meets...
...if you are readying actions, write what they are...I think Conner and Drusellia are slightly unsighted around the corner so, until you move off the stairs...they're going to be restricted as to what they can do...
Dezco - At some point, could you go back into your character’s backstory and change it from Magnimar specific to having a reason to be in the River Kingdoms / Emerald Spire area.
Ah okay, np. Up till now I had just been thinking he was supposed to go to Magnimar but took a wrong turn and got lost hehe.
...no dramas...it's just helpful for me if I decide to stick some things into the adventure that talk to the different PC's backstory...
