I probably start channeling now or go with a spiritual weapon.

Would a spiritual weapon be affected by water? Or would the force weapon cut through the water with ease?


Luther - Reading it, I don't think the Spiritual Weapon is affected by the underwater environment - however you will need to get past the Creature's SR with your first attack.


Oooops - I previously read Luther's action as opening the nearest door - not the first one!!!! Have posted and amended the map for the one he was nearest at the time - as it doesn't put you in immediate danger hope that's okay... I can retcon you to opening the first door if you like or we can let this stand - and you can either explore onwards or go back to that first door...

For info, the Kickstarter that I previously told you folks about – the Legendary Planet Adventure Path – funded last night with a full seven adventure (with prelude) romp across the multiverse. At some point soon backers will receive the Player’s Guide and the prelude Adventure (with the following adventures coming approximately bimonthly after that) – I fully intend to run the AP on these boards and so, after spending a little time reading and reviewing the prelude, I shall launch a recruitment thread. I will be sure to post here to let you know when I have set up recruitment.

Hmm, yeah I was confused if the little half-squares counted as a full 5ft square or not.


Note that, as both of my Emerald Spire games have dropped to four players, I intend to run a re-recruitment imminently – I had held off for a while as RPG Superstar is upon us (the open call is normally quite a difficult time to get people interested and excited in putting a character together) plus I will be away on summer holidays next week – however, I think I will just get on with it now. I will link the recruitment thread here so you folks can keep an eye / answer any queries that may come up whilst I am away – my aim is to run recruitment for two weeks and have a fifth player in each group (I’ll have to work out sensible ways of introducing them) by the start of September.

Hmmm - I think a group of eight is asking for trouble!!! I actually enjoy having two different groups as your gaming styles and approaches are quite different / plus on the non-linear levels it is fun watching the adventure develop different ways.

Hopefully we'll get a good response to recruitment - after all, level four / five is quite a fun level to play PF.

Everyone may level up to Level 5 – note normal procedure of describing key changes to your characters in the Discussion Thread as you level…

Some changes this time around though – I would like to implement the optional Automatic Bonus Progression system described in Pathfinder Unchained. It is yet to appear on the Paizo PRD so I have extracted the relevant parts and placed them in the Campaign Tab for your perusal…

Key parts are that, moving to Level 5, you will get:

Resistance: At 3rd level, the character gains a +1 resistance bonus on all saving throws.

Armor Attunement: The character can attune herself to one suit of armour or one shield in her possession; she can change that attunement once per day. If she selects a normal set of clothing as her armour, it counts as having a starting enhancement bonus of +0. The attuned suit of armour gains a +1 enhancement bonus at 4th level.

Weapon Attunement: The character can attune herself to any one weapon in her possession, and can change that attunement once per day. The attuned weapon gains a +1 enhancement bonus at 4th level.

Deflection: The character gains a +1 deflection bonus to AC at 5th level.

Some of you may have magic items that are no longer relevant – Symon’s +1 Rapier being a case in point although if there are others, please let me know… For all such items, I will suggest a new function…

All, note that Dezco has decided against continuing with the game - he felt it was too much of a dungeon crawl with maybe not enough interactions / RP opportunities. It's a shame but there's no point forcing yourself to play a game you're not really feeling!!! On the plus side, there are at least three characters proposed in my replacements recruitment thread so, with a little bit of GMPC'ing in the short term, we should be fine...


I know it's the weekend - and a holiday weekend in the US at that - but waiting on actions from you folks and the outcome of this fight may influence how I introduce the new folks into our game...


All, I certainly don’t want to railroad you but, given how this combat is going (and please note that I would never dream of Coup de Grace on an actual player!!!) and my desire to get the new players into the game ASAP – maybe it is time to retreat / regroup at Fort Inevitable?

I agree..once we deal with this battle, we collect Dezco's remains and head back to the Fort. We need to regroup and perhaps get better equipment for the next levels!

As our scout, I think Symon gets the ring, the chain shirt +1 should add two to his AC and still have the same -1 ACP the studded leather has.
Plan is to sell +1 thundering Morningstar, +1 rapier (Symon can attune another one) and look into buying cloak of resistances for all and natural armor amulets for those on the front line. Maybe we can spring for an elven cloak for Symon instead to help his stealth.


Okay - we need to sort out what items you are currently carrying that are simple +1 (or whatever) weapons, etc - under the automatic bonus progression scheme, those sort of items no longer exist...

No cloaks of resistance, no amulets of natural armour, etc. They simply don't exist in the world anymore...

...the Morning Star is simply a Thundering Morning Star (that can be attuned to +1)...

...the Belt is now ruined...

...the Rapier and the Chain Shirt can both gain +1 equivalent abilities - happy to take requests on those (as we are retconning them)

That sure makes things simpler!


The Chain Shirt has no 'plus number' bonus (as you get that from the Automatic Bonus Progression) so instead, you can choose a special ability (with a cost of '+1 bonus') from the Magic Armour Special Abilities table in the attached link: Here.

The table starts at 'Balanced' and ends with 'Warding'.

Equally, the Rapier also has no 'plus number' bonus any more so instead, you can choose a special ability (with a cost of '+1 bonus') form the Magic Weapons Special Abilities table in the attached link: Here.

The table starts at 'Allying' and ends in 'Vicious'.

Well if the rapier is still mine, I would choose it to have the KEEN ability. I think someone else should take the armor (Unless it magically becomes a mithral shirt!!!)

How about making the mstar holy, a +2 ability as it was +2 equivalent if you think it would not be op.

Seems more thematic for a cleric.
