Question #1.... Do we continue as 1rst level characters or would you like to magically advance to 3rd level and begin the AP?
Tork 3rd level
Grenz?.?
Rhiannon??
Baal?Question #2....our Tank and Arcanist have left. Do any of you want to change characters and take over those roles before we recruit replacements?
-Posted with Wayfinder
#1: I say we level up to 3
#2: I would not mind changing characters (have been wanting to try out a mixed scout/tank - under brvheart rules, it would probably be a Trapper Archetype Ranger)
Tork the wanderer |

Ok looks like we have 3 votes for fast forwarding to 3rd level.
Since Grenz is interested in changing characters I have a build that I would be excited to play.
A rogue... Lol I never thought I would say it but I want to play a rogue (unchained, scout) with dips in Mouser Swashbuckler and MoMS so I can have Crane and Snake styles active. Leading into Halfling Opportunist prestige class.
I'll pm brvheart the full details of the build to get his approval before switching.

Grenz |

Tork, if you are planning on going Rogue (not sure if all those options fit into brvheart's rules though :P), I think I'll just go Sword and Board Ranger (not Trapper), for the roles of backup Scout and Tank.
@Baalîantar: I don't think you should dip Fighter, as it will eat up from all your Bard goodness :D
Though... We are still missing a healer, or am I wrong?

WabbitHuntr |

@Grenz... I'll be filling the Rogue role. It's been approved by brvheart. He won't be as awesome as he could be :(
But he'll still be more effective than a traditional Rogue.
I'll get started on his character sheet
Looks like we all need to work on getting updated to 3rd level.
And we need some new recruits

brvheart |

Ok, do not give yourselves anything but basic gear when advancing or creating a new character, I will be giving the party some treasure to be divided for what you would have received for completing this adventure, some gold and some magic items. What characters would you like to recruit?

WabbitHuntr |

Rhian-non I don't think an archetype-less witch with the Time Patron is going to be enough healing capability for a 6 person party.
I'd like at least one full divine caster. Evangelists work well in large parties. But Baal mentioned blasty. If I was to submit a character given our line-up...
Rogue
Sword and Board Ranger Tank
Mobile Dervish Dancer 6lvl arcane
Time Patron Witch 9lvl arcane
I would submit a Life Oracle (Spirit Guide archetype) with wandering spirit
I'd take the trait metamagic master (fireball)and blast happily away with fireballs and other AOEs while providing the needed healing and channeling, freeing Rhian to do debuffing witchy stuff
Also in addition to a full divine caster, we need a Ranged character

brvheart |

I think somewhere you missed the concept of this being an old school game:) I am think more cleric and wizard.

Wabbit |

Here's 3rd lvl Wabbit. He won't be much for damage output at this level but he is very hard to hit while fighting defensively and when the enemy misses, he'll move into their space with underfoot assault giving -4 to attack anyone other than Wabbit while making the enemy more vulnerable with flanking.
If Grenz or Baal could possibly find room for Outflank when we hit 7th lvl that would be awesome.

brvheart |

Ok, here is your treasure to divide up:
a small silver chime (10 gp).
a turquoise gem worth 100 gp).
masterwork studded leather
emerald (250 gp)
a cloak of elvenkind
masterwork studded leather
masterwork tetsubo
+1 longbow
+1 shortsword
potion of cure moderate wounds
potion of invisibility
amulet of natural armor +1,
masterwork thieves’ tools,
25 gp gems (x5),
+1 dagger
mwk shortsword
potion of cure moderate wounds
potion of darkvision
1526 GP 27 sp
I suggest getting mounts and travelling gear.

Baalîantar |

The only things in the list I'm really, really, really ken on are:
• +1 longbow
• amulet of natural armour +1,
• potion of cure moderate wounds
I wouldn't day no to the +1 shortsword, if nobody else wants that one.
The Tetsubo is tempting, but Baalîantar isn't proficient with it. :(

I guess we need to set ground rules for loot division now.
A fair easy way is to total the value of the loot for the amount we could sell it for. Divide that amount equally. That is each characters share.
Characters can choose to purchase any item for the cost of what we could sell it for (1/2 market value as shown in loot details spoiler)
If more than one character is interested in an item, a roll-off is done by GM or third party to determine who gets to purchase the item.
emerald (250 gp)
a turquoise gem worth 100 gp).
25 gp gems (x5),
gem total= 475gp
a small silver chime (10 gp).
masterwork studded leather x2, 87.5gp
masterwork tetsubo 160gp
mwk shortsword 155gp
masterwork thieves’ tools, 100gp
+1 longbow 1,000gp
+1 shortsword 1000gp
a cloak of elvenkind 1250
amulet of natural armor +1, 1000gp
+1 dagger 1000gp
potion of cure moderate wounds x2 150gp
potion of invisibility 200gp
potion of darkvision 200gp
1526 GP 27 sp
Total value of loot split 4ways = 2,114gp 7sp per person
this is just one way of dividing loot. If you prefer a different method please present it so we can all decide how we will handle it in this campaign.

Rhîan-nôn |

Well Rhiannon is now officially a wise woman, apart from some healing magic she will take care that our opponents are cursed by the gods for their impolitness of attacking us and helping our companions to be with the luck of the gods. And Knowledge skills to be well versed in many situations.

brvheart |

I find the best way is to divide treasure based somewhat on need. Divide the gold four ways or five if you want a party fund (highly advisable to pay for things like rations and inn fees). Beyond that, you have three magic weapons and an amulet of nat armor. All about the same value. Yes, I normally do a roll off when two want the same item. Treasure is not going to come in nice easy packages, but you want your fighters in good armor with good weapons and your mage with good magic stuff. Some times peripheral characters may get a little less, but the party as a whole is stronger for it. Just my humble opinion. You guys can do it as you like.

Wabbit |

It is best to incorporate need into the method I've proposed.
For example: say we find a single magic item that many characters would like but obviously benefits one of them the Most (book of +2Str). It would be best to let the 2handed Fighter have that, but those who did not receive anything would get a larger portion of gp to compensate for not getting anything and that would enable them to purchase a larger share of magic loot the next time there is a new influx or when they get to a big city and can make purchases or special orders.
This evens things fairly out without having to keep track of who received what a couple of lvls ago.
Shall we set aside 20% or whatever % everyone agrees on for party expenses such as meals, travel, consumables like CLW wands, scrolls restoration etc?

Wabbit |

Wabbit, I never tried that method but I think I like it.
Do you want the Cloak of Elvenkind for super ultra non detection, or maybe I could get it? If I put the shield away, my stealth goes up to +12.
We could be a scout team?
@Grenz I would like for you to take the Cloak. I like the idea of a scout team.
Wabbit is not a solo fighter (horrible damage output solo). He is MUCH more effective as part of a team.
To that end...take a look at
Benefit: Whenever you and an ally who also has this feat are flanking the same creature, your flanking bonus on attack rolls increases to +4. In addition, whenever you score a critical hit against the flanked creature, it provokes an attack of opportunity from your ally.
With most Rogues getting into flanking position can be challenging or take a round or 2 to set up. For Wabbit this is not going to be a problem. He is going to charge (scout archetype) right at the enemy and when the enemy misses, he'll dart between its legs and distract them by being a pain in the ass.
Wabbit will be using a hi crit weapon 18-20 and so will crit at a decent rate providing Grenz and Baal with AOOs if they have Outflank in addition to the +4 to ac vs the enemy that Wabbit is harassing with Mouser Underfoot Assault. And once Wabbit hits URogue 4 his disoreinting strike sneak attack will provide another +2 ac to his flanking buddy.
Outflank really shines if those who have it have hi crit weaponry I'm hoping Grenz or Baal will be able to take outflank. If only one of you does, Wabbit will naturaly gravitate towards them as his combat buddy even better if they have a hi crit weapon.
It's too early to take Outflank. But I bring it up now so that if you are on the fence about taking an 18-20 crit weapon, I'm hoping to give you a nudge in that direction.

Baalîantar |

I'm used to the similar division of spoils in the game my brother runs:
• We figure out the sale value of all our loot, that number is divided evenly among all the paryt members
• We have a plain old random higher-roll-wins roll-off for duplicate claims
• Then, you get to buy whatever you can afford that you have dibs on
So, if we have a party of five, with the amazingly convenient (and highly unlikely) loot value of exactly 10,000 GP, everyone is entitled to 2,500 GP for that 'prize' (episode). Which would allow you to buy just one +1 weapon, if you didn't have any other money to your name.
I also kind of like the idea of a "commons," which is what pirates in the 17th to 18th centuries called the collective pot. A really simplified version of that is to divide the loot up as if there's one extra party member, and add that one extra share, plus all the loose change, into the commons or the pot.
So, for example:
• treasury/loot/prize of 12,000
• Party of six,
• divide it up seven ways
• seven shares of 1,714 GP each, plus 2 GP loose change
• each party member gets 1,714 GP, and the commons/pot get 1,716 GP
And then a unanimous decision on how to use those funds is needed.
Handy system if you want the group to contribute to buying and maintaining a building, or ship, or something expensive like that.
Anyway, those are my thoughts on how to divvy up treasure and loot.

Wabbit |

Wabbit would like...
masterwork studded leather 87.5
masterwork thieves tools 100
potion of darkvision 200
potion of invisibility 200
He also would like the:
Cloak but would rather have a scout buddy
and the
+1 amulet but Wabbit already has a high AC and it would be better for one of our damage dealers to have it.
instead of any of the weapons Wabbit will purchase a Masterwork Rapier with his leftover funds.

brvheart |

Wabbit, I would love to role play that conversation out. You go into the weapon shop and ask for a rapier.
A whut?
After you explain it and notice his selection of blades he finally says,
Oh, I herd of sum of dem fancy dancy nobles wearing them over by the coast for show parading around like they kin fight but we ain't got nuttin' like dat around here. I even herd them making some fancy contraption called a crossbow. You crank it up and it shoots out dem arrows!
Long story short, this campaign makes use of technology level for various cities and towns and some of them are stone age. Remballo is High Middle Ages.
Materials: adamantine, mithral; Armor: half-plate armor; Weapons:
composite longbow, greatsword, lance; Warfare: castles, cavalry; Social
Organization: guilds; Transportation: stern rudder, stirrup; General:
Gothic arch, lantern, spinning wheel, waterclock, windmill
Welcome to old school!

Grenz |

Ok, revisiting loot for Grenz:
- I am not proficient with Tetsubo, so no;
- I'll leave the amulet to Baalîantar;
- I would grab the Shortsword +1, since it is a magical weapon [1000 gold]
- And the Cloak of Elvenkind [1250 gold]
- And a pot of Cure Moderate [150 gold]
- Total 2400
That puts me above my individual share (even though I could use more for an armor/shield upgrade and stuff) - Wabbit, I'll leave the math to you :D
--------------
On other stuff:
- I'm going with a free flowing, kinda loose build. Was planning either Boon Companion or Double Slice at level 5. But honestly, and since I am a Ranger (mostly), maybe I don't NEED Boon Companion, and I can drop it for Outflank (which would be amazingly cool, I agree :D). I am not exactly on a high crit weapon (was planning on going with a Longsword, but now will probably stick with the Shortsword +1 - crit 19/20), but should be good. Maybe I/we should ponder Combat Reflexes?

Wabbit |

@Grenz... Wabbit will be taking Combat Reflexes @5th and Outflank @7th but you could consider delaying combat reflexes til 9th as that is when Wabbit will start getting more attacks with his Snake Fang style feat
@Rhi
have you posted your loot request?
@everyone advice please... Wabbit uses panache to fuel his Underfoot Assault Swashbuckler deed and has a panache pool of 2. He regains panache by scoring crits. Do you think he would be more effective using a +1 dagger with 19-20 crits or his NON-masterwork rapier 18-20 crits.? Regaining panache to fuel his combat style is VERY important.
Help... I can't make up my mind...
Either way, he will be inquiring about masterwork rapiers at every weaponsmith we run across.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Baalîantar |

Myself, I'd go for the rapier. You get a 5% better chance of crits.
Does't sound like much, but it's amazing how often you either miss or get things like that by 1 out of a d20.
@ Grenz:
Did you still want that +1 longbow?
I'll take it f you don't want it, but your DEX is better than Baalîantar.
@brvheart:
If I have my maths right, I should have 2,266 GP, 14 SP and 4 shiny CP at the moment.

Rhîan-nôn |

Wabbit, I fear the combo fate´s favored does not work with halfling luck.
It adds one to luck boni, halfling luck is a racial bonus.
Many half-orcs decorate themselves with tattoos, piercings, and ritual scarification, which they consider sacred markings. Half-orcs with this racial trait gain a +1 luck bonus on all saving throws.

Wabbit |

Wow.... You're right Rhian
This will be the first Halfling I've played... I just assumed fates favored worked with Halfling LUCK :(
I'll fix it... Now I have to find another trait...
-Posted with Wayfinder

Wabbit |

How about the one where you add +4 instead of +2 with aid another.
Good idea...You meleers now have a very HELPFUL flanking buddy scurrying between the opponents legs.

brvheart |

You still need to level up Grenz. The two new players are about ready to come over also. Let's try and get on the road in the next day or so.

brvheart |

Sorry, that is what I meant Grenz. Looks ok without putting it into HL Baaliantar:)
