The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Vai is completed, please let me know what you think of her. I included a section on her abilities, rather than a full character sheet (though if that's what you'd prefer, I won't hesitate to make up a full one).

Looks good. For your own sanity, you're going to want to have your saves and attacks calculated, but aside from that no need to worry about making a full character sheet.

I own all of the Palladium fantasy books. I don;t play it anymore, but I definately use it for reference. The Wolfen are my favorites. Played a Wolfen witch once...was epic :P

Alright, put those in too. Could you give me some advice on... introducing myself? They seem to be in the middle of some sort of action sequence right now.

Yeah, we're sort of at the beginning of the mopping up phase. Feel free to introduce yourself in the discussion thread and one of us will give you the signal when it's time to bring your character in, which shouldn't take long.

I'm going to roll my HD real quick, because why not.

15d12 ⇒ (7, 5, 8, 5, 8, 8, 7, 1, 2, 9, 3, 10, 4, 5, 7) = 89

Due to armiger, the 1,2,3,4, and both 5s are now 6s.

bringing the total without con/favored class to....105. This brings my total HPs to.... 327. Holy Crap. At least he doesn't hit too particularly hard.

Edit: I missed a 5, my total is 328.

You and your 6s.

Looks like a fun PbP, not really used to run this kind of stuff, but considering i just moved away from my regular DnD group, i think it could be fun.

And unless i have misunderstood anything, you guys sound like u could always use one more character, otherwise please say so. And any feedback greatly appreciated.

As Character i was considering a Gnome Half angel with multiple personality disorder (a product of his angelic side, and in effect meaning i stat up 2 different characters). I was thinking to let one of them be a Rogue/Antipaladin/shadowdancer gestalt, being very sneaky and stealthy loving to plot (and dosnt use anything the half angel template gives). While the other should be a LG paladin/Oracle. The twist would then be that they dont know they are the same person, but thinks that they are almost identical twins, so that is why people mistake them for one another. I think it would fit best in with a student, as this is some serious disfunctionality.

Like the previous post,if there is still room,I would love to join in.

I'll probably be playing a ninja/shadowdancer/assassin sort.

Seems like this one would be a lot of fun. :)

Would it be too much trouble to not use shadowdancer? I've already got a shadow assassin and a couple of ninjas and another request right below yours for a shadowdancer/ninja character and I think it wouldn't really take anything away from your concept to leave that out.

Well, you can never have too many ninjas...though I think we may be testing the limits of that.:)

Just be aware that there are several characters with similar ability sets.

Lynora, is there any chance I could get a Cash bonus instead? I'm thinking total: +5 Light fortification Shadow? The only +1s other than Light fortification in CRB and APG are Champion/DAstard, and neither of those is of any use.

Yeah, as long as the power level is equivalent to what I told you, I don't mind how you got there.

I think I'm finally done. If you want me to dial anything back, lemme know. I figured that a High strength wouldn't be too big of an issue, seeing as how he both has 3/4 BAB and uses a one-handed weapon.

I have a question why is Jim in quotes? Is it just a made up name is that why or other reason?

He calls himself Jim, but his given name is Rivets.

Can I play a scout from 3.5?

Also, what level do we start off at,and what gold/gear do we get?

I just learned that Alchemists can already pick up Item Creation feats from this post, so I'm going to switch Master Craftsman out for something else.

Before I finalize my new feat choice, do you mind if, over time, I create some of the Eberron Homunculi? They're, at most, somewhere around CR 3 each, IIRC. I'm not really looking at the combat ones either. The ones I'm interested in making are Packmates and the Messengers.

lynora wrote:

Anyhoo...I'm still not entirely sure what ghul lord entails, but I don't see anything objectionable in the description, especially if it's mostly amounting to just adding some flavor to undead bloodline.

Next question. Were you hoping to bring this guy in as a teacher or a student?

Also, the whole being sealed in a crystal bubble thing reminds me of Avatar: the Last Airbender....this is not a complaint. Somehow AtLA references keep popping up in the game...:)

Lynora, please scratch this whole idea. I am sorry. I read background and this thread without reading gameplay. I am very engrossed in the gameplay thread and after finishing it, I would like to post another character idea as a student.

I really appreciate the open atmosphere here and as a person who has never PbP'd before, this seems like a great learning opportunity. But I would definitely want to bring in a character that would mesh well.

So, I will repost in a few days after I finish the gameplay thread.

Thanks!

Greg

barebones ideas after page 6:
Korun tengu rogue/wizard (scrollmaster) Very much a bookworm. perhaps magic manifests like main character from RoD (ie. mage hand is actually piece of paper manipulating objects/snapdragon fireworks is a multicolored origami dragon that flies up then bursts into confetti and flash effects)

I see him as a runaway from his family's roost. He did not care for the family business of larceny. Nor do "shinies" interest him. Ironically, he has been known to walk out of a store/library/map room with an erm "borrowed" scroll or book. But that is just different!

Focused mostly on research and knowledges, not very good with social interactions...just cuz beak is usually in a book.

Once again, barebones and may change entirely after I finish reading thread.

But seems a better fit so far.

Well ofcourse i can fit that in, instead of the rogue/antipaladin i was thinking of making him either a antipaladin/sorcerer, or maybe go for the rogue/antipaladin/assasin depending on what u guys think. Both would fit into the concept pretty well :)

This is going to be fun. But im a little busy untill 6 GMST today, as school dosnt end till then, chat u back tonight.

Since they're just low level helpers I don't see a problem with that.

Also I will look over your stats as soon as I can. Sorry for the delay. My internet crapped out last night.

Well, sounds like a cool concept there too. Very 'Read or Die'. :)

Just let me know when you're sure what you want to play.

Cool. Either of those other options works just fine. FYI, I may have RL gaming tonight (or not, the GM was feeling a bit iffy since he's fighting off a cold) so I may not be online this evening. But I'll get back to you on stuff tomorrow morning for sure if that's the case. :)

Okay, I know we're not voting or anything, but he just helped me solidify my idea for a badass bookworm character in an FF-world game that might be starting up soon...

*places vote in pretend ballot box*

Final Fantasy. If I can't be a Moogle Chocobo Knight, I'm probably going Red Mage.

I'm seriously thinking about writing up Skeeze, my goblin Squig Herder from the Warhammer MMO.

Talk about fun :P

Oh I know it's final fantasy I meant…I want to play a final fantasy game!

Shadow Lodge

Sorry bub, but I'm not even sure if it's going to be on Paizo(I'm trying to get it here though), let alone when it will even start. Besides, I'm pretty sure it's our RL group only.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm………… damn………that is all movealong folks nothing to see here.

If any of you guys ever find yourselves in Omaha, I'd love to sit at a table with ya'll.

Vai Emkar wrote:

I've placed a bit of a 'prologue' for Vai in the game thread. If it looks good to you I'll try to get you at least to the school, if not into the mix of things just yet. (^.^)

Shadow Lodge

I've got to call my bookie about this. What are the chances we get another dragon around the time the mob reaches the school?

Where's Dennis when you need him?

Asch Redgrave wrote:

Currently? Unconscious. While his horns do make good weapons, that might not have been the best choice for how to 'use his head' . ;P

However his goblin associate, Chet, will be more than happy to calculate odds and take your bets until the boss wakes up. :)

Fantastic, to both responses. I'll post in the OOC thread, and I don't know when you want me introduced.

sphar wrote:

Oh,no,sorry.I want my guy basically to be an (elven) prodigy with scimitars;I also was wondering if I could use 3.5 classes. Also, what level do I start at? :3

He's going to be a scout, mainly. He believes that he can communicate with his blades, and is awe-inspiring to watch in combat.

This is a really complicated build;I want him to be a skillmonkey, but also be decent at combat.Depending on what level he's at,he's going to be a scout/dervish/tempest,possibly ranger if I have to start at a lower level.

Okay, so the level cap for students is 16, and most characters will fall in that 14-16 range with a definite skew towards the top of the range. :)

I have no problem with scout/dervish/tempest. 3.5 classes are fine, though obviously we're using mostly Pathfinder.
Also can you give me some idea of what sort of personality/background you had in mind?

Edit: Also, maybe he actually can communicate with his blades? Might be interesting if they had actual personalities. :)

Alright,I'll probably make him level 16(he has been training for over 50 years!).

He will have a quiet personality, but will still have a presence. He prefers to let his swordplay speak for him.He does not know what happened to his parents;he just found himself in the forest one day, with nothing but two scimitars at his sides.Somehow,he taught himself how to survive, and taught himself swordplay.

One day,he decided to venture out,and got challenged to a duel. Not only did he manage to defeat his foe,he did it in two hits.(Maybe this foe was a student?) I'm assuming the university then found him,and asked him to join.He would accept, having always wanted a home.

I was planning for his blades to actually be sentient, yes, even if it was just in his own mind :P

Sadly,it will take a while to get his stats online)I have it all written down).

More questions to bug you with:
How should I introduce myself to the campaign?
How much gold/gear do I get?

Well, it's more of a high school than a university. So let's see...he remembers his past, or at least his childhood, and then there's this big gap in his memory and next thing he knows he's wandering around the forest with two magic sentient scimitars. Somehow he manages to survive on his own and learn swordplay, which has to be easier when the swords are your teachers.

So next time he has a run-in with civilization he ends up dueling some guy with too high an opinion of himself. I'm guessing your guy is pretty young and with that memory gap probably acts a little younger than he really is. So someone present at the duel knew about Avalon and sent your guy there, most likely to protect a naive young man from retaliation for what the other guy at least saw as a humiliating defeat.

I have that right?

As far as gear and gold go...it's a school so little to no magical gear. Basically you have your two magical sentient scimitars. Possibly one or two other items if you can give me a good in-character reason why you have them.

Alright then.

Can my magical sentient scimitars have the keen property?

After he defeated his opponent in the duel,he felt a knife cut him across his back.He gasped, and dropped to the ground.

Next thing he knew,he woke up in the university, with someone(the headmaster?) next to him, looking at him curiously. After a brief conversation, the headmaster gifts him with a mithral breastplate, saying this would be better for protection than simple leather armor. This is probably where he joins the university.

Is that good?

Ummm....no. It's a high school. It may seem like a small distinction, but really it makes a big difference in the environment and expectations.

Wearing armor in school is pretty unusual except in certain special situations.

However, there's no reason that he can't be given a mithral breastplate by his rescuer, who then sends him to the school as a safe place for someone like him to grow and learn. That way he has the armor for those times when he does need it. We'll play through your actual arrival to the school when you're introduced in the game thread. Also, adding in the detail of the other guy stabbing him in the back after losing is a nice touch. :)

And yes keen is fine.

URG,really sorry, haven't even been to high school yet so I don't know.I might say that a few times.

Cool.I guess I'll try to ease my way into gameplay soon now,I'm almost done with my character...unless you have a specific plan for how I fit into the current story.

Once you have your character done and your profile made, post it up here for me to review, and then we can work out your intro into the game over in the discussion thread. We have a lot of mid-term transfer students coming in so you won't be the only newbie. We'll do our best to make your transition as easy as possible. Since this is rules light, there's a heavy emphasis on roleplay and social interactions between characters. And there's lots of helpful people who can explain stuff to you if you don't understand how something works. :)

Here's what i've got so far;sorry it's taking so long,I need to get down all my skills.PLease look over this, anyways.

Urgh. ghost post. I think. I see one that should be there, but isn't. Anyways, I have my RL game tonight so I'll look it over in the morning.
