The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

"Oh, cool! I've never had marshmallows before."

Tarka gladly takes some marshmallows and a stick, and promptly manages to catch both on fire.
"Is it supposed to do this?"

Ephebe blew out the flames. "It's better if you don't catch the stick on fire, but burning the marshmallows a little is fine if you like them that way. Just be careful not to burn your mouth when you eat them."

Vai Sunwake wrote:

Why does nobody want to ride me?! ;P

"She did?" she asks regarding Rena, and there's just the barest of glances at her own draconic wings. "Well, alright then. I feel a little better about that then. Plus, I did promise to introduce her to my firebird sisters. Maybe wait for tomorrow for that. Alright... be back in a bit."

With that parting, Vai spreads her wings and crouches low, and then jumps up, flapping her wings hard to gain that first little bit of altitude and speed which made flying much easier.

If Tryko'Sam watches her, she seems to fly up quite high - just a deeper blue spot against the cerulean sky, and ranges out around the local area - never leaving where should could still see the manor. She knew she could exit the SIM on a few command words, but still... it helped with the illusion of reality to keep some sense of space.

Way too obvious of a trap for potential jokes there... Way too. Besides, if I were suddenly in 'magic world' and some cutie who just popped wings offered me a ride on a saddle, without any horse riding skills, I'm not sure I'd go for it, truth be told.

Tryko'Sam doesn't do much, laying out on the sun chair as he is, while watching her fly off high into the air and eventually soar around in the sky.

>> Yaaah... she's got a saddle and wants a rider? That's odd. Why would someone want to be -- oh, huh. Nope, still odd. <<

Chuckling slightly as he sits there, he continues with his programming, as it were, sorting through some more fine tuning and the the like of the simulation. The butler guy probably could go, he deduced, seemed a bit too snobby-- maybe Maya's influence when repairing or restoring his memories. Didn't feel right to have a servant hanging out.

Perhaps unseen far in the sky, the butler faded away, the mini-bar changed subtly into more of a drink dispensary, with a fridge and pull down levers for various drinks, plus a drink gun, hooked up to various syrups and the like.

>> Curious if the SIMs are off limits for the drink altering demons here-- hmm... speaking of demons. << He idly thought about his past experience while wrath filled.

"Ah s%*!... how could I have, bah, never mind. Obviously I forgot. I need a PDA for notes. Maybe this magical s%+@ can fix that issue. Talking aloud again, meat head..." He fell quiet and continued with his work while lounging.

Sil sits close to his sister once Ehos leaves. "So little sis, aside from the new boyfriend, tell me about your time here, and what the school and its students are like. If I'm going to stay, it would help to know as much as possible about this place and those who attend it."

She's heard him ask questions like this before, always right before a battle. This time however, it sounds like he wants the information for the sake of the knowledge. Another new thing about her brother, who was never much for learning.

He glances at Maya, realizing that if she didn't react... "Well... somebody nearby must be having one hell of a Nightmare for 'that' kind of fragment to appear." he says, watching behind them as if watching something go the other way down the hall.

Yes, aristocratic United Kingdom accent, English-- if that's what you mean by 'posh'. For some reason, I had this nasty sense you were talking about one of the Spice Girls and shuddered.

With a laugh and looking back, she exclaims with some indignity, "Buy a title? Truly? That makes it less valid, don't you think? So, gold is the means to the end here, is it? Is it measured by mass, or weight? Our currencies back home were supported by that as well, the metal. Just how common is it?"

When he does the ducking, she is quickly alert and prepared, though it isn't immediately against whatever he witnessed, asking, "Does this mean you will help them? or ... just ignore it?" Her stance suggests she has some manner of combat training, perhaps defensive at the least.

I suppose Vai did forget to mention that the saddle is enchanted to not let people fall. :P

I kinda picture Tryko'Sam experiences with great heights kinda akin to the bowl of petunias from Hitchhiker's Guide (the one conjured next the whale). 'Oh no not again...'

Vai is up there for a good long while, swooping and gliding around the area. She does occasionally lower her altitude and doing a slight 'buzz' of the poolside setting, swooping down some 15-20 feet above ground level. A glance at her facial expressions during one such swoop would reveal an expression of pure unadulterated joy. There's occasionally a 'whoop' or similar happy noise from the sky above where Tryko'Sam is sunning himself.

After some twenty-five minutes or a half-hour of soaring around, Vai comes in for a graceful walking-landing, breathing quite heavily and red in the face from the exertion, but unable to keep a smile off her face.

Her wings retract into her body, clothes forming around them as part of the magic of her changing, and she glances over at Tryko'Sam, grinning. "That was awesome. The thermals here are just fantastic for flying." she says happily, walking over to the table with drinks and taking a cup, looking a bit oddly at the orange cooler, before pouring herself some ice water.

"Enjoying the sun?" she asks happily, making no move to close the gap between them but obviously in a much better mood now.

"No Lang-kun, absolutely not." Midori says seriously, though breaks into a smile shortly thereafter. "I just want to be respectful, since this temple has some very familiar elements to my own temples and shrines of my land, but some things are very strange to me."

She motions back to what Lang had called the Paifang. "We call those torii, but they're very close."

"I do feel welcome, but I do not wish to disturb the temple keepers either, or disrespect them by being noisy guests." she adds on, seriousness returning slightly. Obviously respect is very important for the young aasimar, especially in a sacred place such as this.

Lang smiles. I would like to see your temples someday. but I would guess that, since you are coming with me to the other worlds to unite them, I am sure that the other temples there will be very similar to this one.

Looking to Grim, They can pass through walls, but these walls are more symbolic and are kept out of respect for the beliefs of our ancestors.

passing around the wall and into the next courtyard. there is an older man there sweeping the stone walkway. he nods a greeting to everyone as he passes.

Hehe, no not anything like that. ;P I've been spending a lot of time with Brits on TeamSpeak as of late, and I've come to realize just how central accents are to british life.

Vare shrugs, though Maya's good natured laugh seems to keep him also light-hearted regarding the discussion of nobility. He makes a guess, and decides to follow up on it, hoping he was right. "Well, purchased nobility seems to be at least as arbitrary as hereditary nobility." and if she was looking at him, she might realize due to his grin, that he was teasing her slightly. "Gold is valued by weight, yes. Plenty of countries mint their own currency, and the coins are generally exchangeable by weight. Generally, a full gold piece is about 10 days of worth for a typical labourer. Of course, it varies place to place."

"If I knew who exactly spawned that fragment, I might go and wake them, but I have no way to distinguish which dreamer spawns which fragment." he adds with a shrug, returning to his feet after the ducking incident. "Shall we carry on?" he adds good-naturedly.

Once he was sure the keen-eared kitsune was well out of earshot, the young monk reached out behind him to grab the window sill as his shoulders slumped and his head dropped. A long, deep exhalation escaped his lips as he finally gave himself s moment to process all that has happened in the last few days. So much had changed...so much would never be the same.

His closed his eyes.................and opened them to find his surroundings changed. He was outside. It took only the briefest glance to recognize the area of the gardens where he had been reborn. He was uncertain of what time had passed (at least until the device inside of his body serenely informed him).

He shook his head slightly, then quietly drew his legs in to meditate. As he did so, floating a few feet from the ground, he noticed that his tattered Infirmary scrubs were gone. In their place was his gi. Which made no sense, as it had been destroyed when the Materials and Supplies building had been attacked.......

....And in the (now long-deserted) hallway, the school's repair nanites diligently worked to fill in an oddly sphere-shaped depression in the floor and walls around the window....

"You're likely to fall asleep any moment then." she teases, taking a long sip of water as Tryko'Sam talks about showering... and then mentions the 'display of action', as he put it.

"Wha--"Vai's query is brought up short as she realizes what he might be talking about - jumping to conclusions maybe, but it's probably what was meant anyway, and a hand goes to her skirt. While her face was already pretty red from the sun and the exertion, a scarlet colour creeps down her neck as she blushes fiercely. "Oh." she says is a small voice, very embarrassed.

Sitting up as she hurries off, he asks, "Did you want a change of outfits? That's not a laundry, after all..." His initial expression is a puzzled one, though after a moment, he appears to be doing some quick thinking.

Vai would notice the addition of some 'laundry' devices in the shower area, with signs to help denote their purpose.

Mostly, though, the shower quarters are for up to four people (separated by wall enclosures of sorts, wood treated to resist water soaking, yet resilient enough to last, of a darkish red and brown, in fitting of the scene. There are bowls with mini-shampoo packs, a variety of scents, and soaps. Small piles of wash cloths and towels as well.

Once in the shower area provided by the sim room, Vai breaths out, trying to let go of the embarrassment. She really needed to wear pants more often.

"Sim Room, enable privacy mode on this room please." she says aloud, ensuring that nobody could walk or look in here while she was changing and showering.

Doing just that, Vai emerges from the shower rather quickly, having only given herself a quick rinse - something about being naked made her a bit self-conscious and brought back bad memories, so she was quick in her time spent in the nude.

"Sim Room, please generate denim jean pants, dark blue, loose fit, sized for me."

With that, she dresses herself in the newly created jeans, and also conjures a similar shirt - loose fitting t-shirt. She scoops her school uniform and puts in into the provided washing machines.

Some ten to fifteen minutes after having run off, Vai re-emerges from the showers, looking much better for wear - still a touch of the desert sun colouring her features, but beyond that - dressed in jeans and loose fitting t-shirt, she looks pretty casual compared to her typical school outfit.

"Hey." she says to Tryko'Sam, finding a seat nearby to him if he's still sitting, feeling still a little embarrassed.

"Well, let's see....you've already had some experience with the wards. They prevent any violence towards students and staff. You get teleported to detention if you do. If you absolutely have to fight with someone you have to convince them to go to a SIM room with you. You can fight all you like there since the damage isn't real. The school changes all the time, too. The rooms move around. So you need to use the arrows to find stuff. You just put your hand on the wall and think of where you want to go and arrows light up to show you the way. They only work inside the building though. You're on your own in the gardens. Normally I'd warn you about the plants, but I think you'll be fine. Uh, but watch out for the lava ones. That's a dangerous section of garden even for you. And if you're going to stay, you're going to have to properly enroll in the morning. You'll have to take classes. You can take up to six, but most people choose five and a free period, and one of your classes will need to be PE. Take Advanced. Normal PE is boring and too easy."

"As far as the students...well, my experiences aren't much to go on. The lycans here aren't really organized anymore. We used to be kind of our own group, but..." she shrugged. "It's complicated."
"Then there are firebirds...they're mostly new and sometimes kinda snooty. Not always, but a lot of the time."
"Other than that students more often organize by interest rather than species. So the kids that like alchemy hang out together, the ones who like music hang out together, and so on."
"There's a student council. They help the teachers and organize activities. Tyrrin's the current student council president."
"Sometimes we get to have fun activities like concerts or the snipe hunt. That's my favorite. But most of the time it's just schoolwork like normal. And afterschool clubs and stuff. Like I said, based on interests. But clubs have to be approved by the student council in order to be official. So they can have practice space and stuff."

"Anyhow, that's the short version."

"It's really calm up here, you know? Everyone's so accepting. It's nice, no-one running or attacking."

"Yeah....these times are rare. But nice."

So I guess you like it better here then, no leeches and bug nets to worry about then.

Yes, she was the daughter of the prior reign, as it goes, but initially, they are all self appointed with support, no? Good to know about the sleepers and such. I suppose I have a leg up than, if we did need to play court. Plus I'm rather adaptive."

Walking along she muses quietly on this or that.

"Just to be clear, this this teaching institute is not a den of scum and villainy in some twisted pretense of philanthropy, correct? You can personally vouch for such?"

While it might sound silly, she does appear serious in asking.

"Alright, I'm done," she said, bringing over the datapad to Zix. "Only accessible to you, while on school grounds, and there are some surprises inside if you try to show it to someone else. Mostly for your protection in case someone were to try to coerce you into showing them." She shrugged. "I have trust issues."

"Anyways, that should be everything you were looking to know. At least, it's all the information that I have available here. Hope it helps with your research. Keep me updated if you find anything useful. I have a couple of students who I need to untangle from the wards...which as far as I know now would require taking them down temporarily. Obviously not a good option."

"Tyrrin and Ehos Denulia. I included the information about their entanglement with the wards since I thought it might be relevant to your research about how the wards were formed. Somehow they were unintentionally looped in so that the wards provide them with excess, excessive even, power instead of just taking a small amount of power like it does with everyone else. It's especially problematic for Ehos since if he makes the smallest noise it can cause massive damage."

Tryko'Sam is still lounging away, though he seems to be looking or unfocused elsewhere on her approach.

Once she speaks though, he snaps too saying, "Hey there, looking good. Nice outfit, always thought jeans, on the right person, were a good thing. Er..." he appears to catch himself mid speak pausing.

"Ah, sorry-- habit, I'm a chatty bugger sometimes."

Motioning at the surroundings he says, "I'll add this to the public access, so you can take a soar in the future again. I'm drafting up a few different scenes for public, safe, uses. The system does seem to have a bunch of options, but... I like caterogizing, I guess. So, think those villagers are gonna be okay?"

"Thank goodness for that. The rareity, i mean. It would get dull if it was like this often. It's nice from time to time, but it would get unimaginably dull. Though, my friends could keep me company."

she holds up her amulet when she says "friends", before laying it fall back into place.

Zix turns to the pages detailing the two of them ::hmm siblings, the odds that there is not a commonality between them causing this is astronomical well three possible fixes come to mind, both of which have their problems, and I will be keeping my minds open for more possibilities, the first idea is to put up a temporary ward with all the essential systems, perhaps using wishcraft, and/or some epic spell seeds, then scycle down the primary ward, reset it, and bring down the temporary ward, possibility two, kill them, wait a day or so, bring them back, or phisically take them outside the wards, or possibly a combination of the above tactics, now like I said these options have their own problems, the first is a security risk, for example,:: he muses 'aloud' as he examines the doccument.

He's carrying more cans back on to the ship,

"Sorry to earr there is only a few of ya left Vickory, I'm a space dwarf me self, from the clans, there are bloody billions of us, just look for any space rocks with rare stuff in and I'll bet ya you will find a clan working them somewhere. Mind you, We don't stay put long, the big blacks our home see, space itself, it calls to us inside"

He taps his chest
" so, keep moving is what we do. From system to system, who ever will let us mine. No idea what it's like to live a whole life on a single world. Must be odd, seeing the same sky and land all ya life. Think I would go mad if I had ta do that."

He stops puts the can he was holding down and points up.

"I feel it now calling me, up there is my home, the 10,000 suns of the empire and many more. Being down here is nice but not far long, mine you, your Crystal mountains sounds nice, good Crystal can cost."

He winks

"If ever ya want to head back to Carahadras you let me know, old Hammershaft can get most places"

Mel thinks for a bit before answering Arthur.

It is so nice of you to say that. I guess I can't really complain much with such an attentive escort.

taking his arm once more Lets go to the Sim room and see if we can figure out that Klein Field theory, and I'll show you my idea for the lighting in the clothing as well.

In a flash of purple light, Lewis's wings flare up drastically fast, casting off purple sparks. They remain there for a moment and then flop back down.
Looks like the tiny Jabberwock is dreaming.
