Lang leads those that want the quick tour of the temple up the stairs through the Paifang.

I think I already told you about this. The Paifang

following a short but winding path Lang brings everyone to a small gated wall separating the next section of the temple.

in front of the gate (which is actually just an archway rather than a gate) is a stone wall that must be navigated around before passing through the gate.

Lang stops at the wall.

This is called A Yǐngbì or Zhàobì, a shadow wall, it is a screen wall that is placed at the front of the temple to stop ghosts or evil spirits from entering. The idea is that evil spirits cannot turn corners, and so the wall screens the main entrance. This particular wall is of the Nine Dragon design, it is to signify that this temple is dedicated to all the elements and is sponsored by all of the bending communities.

Midori follows alone with Lang respectfully, listening to his explanation regarding this sacred space. She tries to keep her questions quiet, knowing that Lang-kun would probably think that her own customs were strange. She definitely didn't understand why dragons would be a part of the motif, given that nobody else she'd met until coming to Avalon had thought dragons were a good thing.

Looking around while squinting at the sunlight, he shrugs and says, "First person other than me to test the simulation, basically. Door isn't locked, figured, whatever. Sweet-- pop wings. Take a spin. You want some course markers or something, or just a scenic tour? Mostly desert environ, mesa and rocks. Nothing threatening. Gotta test the parameters and build a module for that later. I really am digging the tech here. Good way to revisit my existing memories too." He grins broadly.

Motioning up to the air with a wave, he smiles at her and then walks over to where one of the us chairs are, flopping down and getting settled.

"Yer in a time compression, in case. I can turn that off if you wanted. I'll be here when yer done. You probably know how to quit the SIM if you wanted too, right?"

With that, he pulls out a baseball cap, with a 'No Fear' logo on it, black with the white stitching, grinning to where she stands.

She'd note he doesn't say anything about the date, or interruption there of.

As Tryko'Sam turns to go flop onto one of the chairs, Vai brushes that bit of hair back behind her ear, once again revealing the eye that had been hidden. There's a grin of anticipation as she looked to the sky. For some reason, the longer she spent here in the arid heat... it felt really nice.

"Hey... I could carry you if you wanted. I don't think I'll use course markers though - just flying is... really cathartic for me, and I really need it after that mess. Um," again there's a slight hesitation. Being alone with a guy who wasn't Fei was still a little scary for her, but he had been trustworth so far... "If you'd like... I could take you up with me. I've got a saddle and stuff..." she offers, if just a touch awkwardly.

Noting with some hesitation that he didn't reply to her apology for breaking up his date. She decides not to say anything more, hoping that he wasn't overly upset about it.

The shaman scratches his friend's ears, and gives him a big hug. "We're gonna be spending the night in here. Now, now, don't complain, it should only be just for tonight. I promise to get a giant raw steak for dinner." The canine licks Silinrul's face in agreement.

'No worries.' he responds on the pad before the wolf enters, whereupon Ehos backs away slightly, moving for Jaiye. 'Hey, I'll go talk to Professor Adilsa. We should meet up after, and if Tyrrin's still not back from Kuros by then... maybe we should go looking for her.' he suggests, just a touch of brotherly worry on his features. Ghalen hadn't made the situation in Kuros sound very promising, after all. 'She's been gone a long time.'

Ephebe smiled as Sara fell asleep. Well, that was two students who she didn't have to worry about wandering off.

She noticed Kay's disappointment when Grim took off with the older children, and walked over to her.

"I was wondering...I have this big bag of marshmallows to roast....would you like to help me? Unless you need to get home and to bed, of course. I wouldn't want to keep a growing child from her sleep," she said, with a smile and a questioning look to the villagers.

Fieri sighed as they finally finished putting away all the equipment.

"Thanks, guys. It means a lot to me," she said with a tired smile.

She turned around and looked at the room again. "I almost don't want to leave....and what are we even going to do with all this stuff?" she asked plaintively.

Pan put an arm around her and ruffled her hair. "Don't get all dramatic on me now, Fi. I'm pretty sure you get to keep the space. Just use it for jam sessions and stuff. Bet you can find plenty of musicians in this school who would love to be invited to that. Nobody is taking away your practice room."

Why does nobody want to ride me?! ;P

"She did?" she asks regarding Rena, and there's just the barest of glances at her own draconic wings. "Well, alright then. I feel a little better about that then. Plus, I did promise to introduce her to my firebird sisters. Maybe wait for tomorrow for that. Alright... be back in a bit."

With that parting, Vai spreads her wings and crouches low, and then jumps up, flapping her wings hard to gain that first little bit of altitude and speed which made flying much easier.

If Tryko'Sam watches her, she seems to fly up quite high - just a deeper blue spot against the cerulean sky, and ranges out around the local area - never leaving where should could still see the manor. She knew she could exit the SIM on a few command words, but still... it helped with the illusion of reality to keep some sense of space.

She motions back to what Lang had called the Paifang. "We call those torii, but they're very close."

"I do feel welcome, but I do not wish to disturb the temple keepers either, or disrespect them by being noisy guests." she adds on, seriousness returning slightly. Obviously respect is very important for the young aasimar, especially in a sacred place such as this.

Ryleh sighed. So many crises, so little she could do about it. She should have a talk with her daughter. It wasn't good for her to be overworking herself like that with little ones on the way.

She started to brew tea and then realized she wasn't sure why. She wasn't actually expecting company.

Keme looked a bit rebellious for a moment, but he reined it in.

"Alright, if that's what it takes," he conceded grudgingly.

"Wouldn't it be better to get the information first, before it's tainted by suggestion? If you get the information second it will be too easy to try and make it fit the other evidence. I think you should ask him about it now."

"Oh, it's no trouble. It's interesting. Sounds like stuff my mother would be really interested in. Have you spoken with her much? She teaches History of Agartha," she said, keeping up conversation while she worked on the datapad.

Tamina lay on her bed. The quiet was nice, but the room felt strange. She hadn't been in it except to exchange clean clothes for dirty ones for days. For that matter, even though it had only been a few hours, she missed Dom. Where was he? She'd heard him get called into the Headmaster's office hours ago, but had no idea why. Did he get sent out to deal with some crisis? That happened sometimes. But that was hours ago....was he alright? What if something happened to him? Her stomach twisted with fear. She didn't think she could bear it if.....no, no she was overreacting. Dom was fine. He was just busy. And she was just going to have to wait...calmly....well....calmish.....maybe....

"Tarka, you can come roast marshmallows too if you want....there's plenty. It's an endless bag of marshmallows. I got it from my brother, James. He said Dad had it made when we were kids. Something about it being a necessity when taking kids on camping trips." :)

"Oh, cool! I've never had marshmallows before."

Tarka gladly takes some marshmallows and a stick, and promptly manages to catch both on fire.
"Is it supposed to do this?"

"I had not considered that. I was more worried about having to repeat the same information. Very well." He turns to Al'rqyq.

"What do you have for us?"

Male Maftet 16 Stalker (umbral blade)/Dread

"Well...I was asked by Royston to look at the scene of the crime, and see if I could find anything useful. I found the tracks of the gal leading from the school to the area she was attacked. She was...shuffling her feet from a certain point on. At that point, I saw the track of an adolescent human, probably male.
It looks like perhaps, because of the change in tracks, like she was mezmerized or otherwise manipulated away from the school to be attacked.
Like I told Royston, I don't know why he'd lead her that far away from the school, there were plenty of obscured places closer to do the deed."
