"Ya, it's a figure of speech. You're attractive when you're cleaned up and not dressed in rags. You won't have a hard time finding a mate if you want one, was what I was getting at, hun. Temperature differences aside, of course. That's a problem I never thought I'd share. Heh."
He gently re-explains it.
Do Firebirds not use figure of speech? How many people have I seriously confused since I got here?...
He is working some brown fabric into a fringe, clipping at it quickly with scissors shaped for his paw-hands.
Another knock at the door sounds and he snaps his fingers for the door to open and reveal Melody.
"Oh hey, cmon in. I found another cute guy for you."
He sticks his tongue out at her.
Edited to include Mel.

Mel was at the door carrying a tray of various drinks. a couple are firebird friendly Hot Cocoa as well as normal Hot Cocoa. also a frosted mug that ppears to be very cold (or I should say frozen) Cocoa.

Sorry I disappeared like that, I needed a walk, I hate being cooped up for too long, I always want to be on the go sometimes. Unless of course its a show that I am performing in. Anyway, I brought treats, And hey, on my way here, I walked past the infirmary, saw some friends in there, thought we could go there and see what's up.

Mel seems to be rambling again, as she sometimes does when she seems to want to say so much.

::Thank you Krays, please assure the person that I will be with them as soon as possible, I am about to do a deep memory scan.::

Zilla shuffles nervously after hearing Phaezeriel's request. Hew reached out toward her, at which she jumps back from him. "Sorry" She whispers.

Hew responds softly. "It's ok.... I'll keep watch. Just reach your feelings out when you need to know it's me." Slowly he turns to Phaezeriel "When your ready."

Asha was distracted from noticing Pyry's embarrassment by the heavenly smell of the hot chocolate Mel was holding.

"What is that smell?" she asked, smiling. "I think it's the most delicious smell I've ever smelled..."

It actually took a second or two for mel to register what Tyb's said.

it actually sank in when Pyry looks away a bit shy like.

Approaching Pyry Hey there, I'm Melody, but most here call me Mel. But you probably already knew that. your looking pretty snazzy there. "See, now, looking all bashful and stuff doesn't help that. Your just gonna have to get used to being adorable."
He lays out a pattern for a hoodie and starts Mending it together.
"Who's in the infirmary, anyone I know? I really don't like going in there unless I have to..."
He seems to regret having to say that.
He gratefully accepts the mug.
He taps one of the firebird mugs for Mel to give Pyry and it frosts over like his is.

Asha took a sip and closed her eyes in pure pleasure.

"It is the most delicious thing ever," she said in a near-whisper.

Then some of the conversation started to catch up to her.

Tybalt digs at his with a spoon.
"Chocolate is good, but don't give it to dogfolk. It makes them really sick. I feel kinda sorry for them. Chocolate actually uses the same brain stuff as the feeling of being loved."
This sits finished on his table.
A thick brown hoodie with a yellow circle and soft 'claws' sits on the table. It looks vaguely like a bear with a yellow circle on the chest.
"You'll get used to it eventually. You don't have to rush into anything. I mean, you just got back into society and stuff, so that can wait until you're more integrated. The important thing is that you feel safe. If you feel threatened by anyone, just tell me or Dave, or Mel, or Tyrrin, or one of the teachers, OK bud? We'll help you out. You can come to me for anything. Any of us, really."
He smiles and offers advice in a friendly way, but seems serious about the end part.

"I.. I never thought about.. you know.."

"Oh."

She waited until Tybalt was done talking before she said anything more. When she did speak it was frankly and without any trace of embarrassment.

"I didn't have much choice but to think about that. Sometimes it seemed like all I ever heard about was how important it was for me to marry as the family wanted and produce appropriate heirs of sufficiently pure bloodline. And they didn't care if I wanted to or not. You know how they are. And they went on and on and on and on about the importance of 'purity'....I guess that was part of the justification for locking me in the tower. At least what they told people outside the family. Making sure I was 'untouched' before they could trot me out like a prize brood phoenix. Blegh," she said, making a face and shuddering as she thought about it. "So one of the first things I did after I escaped and made my way to this school was find someone - non-firebird - well, actually a couple of someones - that I like well enough and had sex with them. It was fun. I know some people like Tybalt think that sex is something that should happen with someone you love. I think that it's something that can be just for fun. I'm not really all that interested in falling in love anyway. But however you feel about it, it's something that should only happen between two people who both want to. Feeling pressured into doing things you don't want to do is wrong, and so is pressuring someone else. When you're ready for that kind of thing you'll know, so don't worry about it too much. But if you have questions, I bet there's lots of people here with answers. It is a school after all." ^.^

None of the views expressed so far were in line with his.
Where he's from, sex had always been part of a bond of love, or even in extreme cases when an heir is needed, at least out of trust and compassion. Doing it for fun just seems... odd. Sure, he's been told it's fun, but doing it with someone you don't love just seems... impersonal... is his best word.

She's kinda lost in thought though, so when she arrives at the Sim Rooms, she wanders in to one of the rooms without checking to see if it was in use, figuring it would be locked if it was.

Pushing the door in, while lost in thought, Vai happens to notice immediately the profound difference between the hallway, and where she ends up.

With the door partially open still, the choice is hers, proceed into the SIM, or exit.

What the SIM appears to be, however, is a Summer's Day, outdoors, with a large private Olympic pool. Various tables and reclining sun chairs are sitting around, a diving board and one with height, for skilled dives, or super cannonball action, also on one end.

The day, in the room, is warm, a dry heat, with the lightest of dry breezes, suggesting a desert setting. In the distance, far away, red colored hills, no mountains in sight. No city buildings, other than the pool and a large manor associated with it, within walking distance. The sun sits lazily, blazing away with it's G2 type intensity, mid-sky. The assumption that it's mid-day can easily be made.

On one of the tables, a variety of snacks, apparently, some sandwiches, pitchers with drink, even a water cooler in orange, with the word Gatoraid on it, umbrellas to provide shade, and a few spare towels.

Swimming in the water, breast stroking away, a dark haired male, or female without her top, making good time and seemingly oblivious to the world.

Someone human, elder gentleman, comes walking up from what appeared to be a food preparation booth, or mini-bar, and asks, "Hello Miss. Would you like me to prepare you a seat? I'm the servant for those attending this SIM. You're welcome to ask me for alterations, or special requests as needed. You're the first guest, please, come in and enjoy yourself. Bathing suits are provided." He's dressed in kahki's and a buttoned up shirt, not looking butler at all, yet, friendly and host like.

The swimmer reaches one end and pauses, holding on, looking over and waving. It's Tryko'Sam, with his mane hanging down, wet from the water.

"Hey, Vai-- here to swim? Make yourself at home." He is on the far end, and starts to head back, towards the end she might head too, where most of the sandwiches and the like are.

A flock of birds lift off from the tree tops, dry Jericho looking plants, and palm trees, mixed in with some cactus and greyish brown brush. A few fluffy clouds hang in the sky and the scent of dust sits in the air in taking a breath.

Female Avalon Professor
Vare, the Summoner wrote:

Vare waved his hands slightly at what Maya had said regarding coercion. "No no, it's not her that's concerned. It's others at the school, the Headmaster included, who generally discourage student-teacher relationships, citing an imbalance of authority that exists between the two. That is the concern, if I've understood all correctly." He corrects as swiftly as he may, not wanting the issue to become even more muddied.

"As far as those types of outsiders are concerned... that could be one solution... but... my earlier categorizations were very general - there are both demons and devils who seek to repent and redeem themselves, just as there are angels and azata who Fall and become corrupt. Given that, I'm not sure the school would have a blanket policy against them. Nor should we go around the school dousing everyone in holy water." He says with a shrug and a sly smile, and as she motions to the door he nods, standing and offering a hand to help her up as well.

"I would be quite happy to walk with you about the school, though given I've been here a short time... and the way the school tends to shift often leaves me lost. The school walls conjure forth arrows which will guide you to your destination quickly, but unfortunately, the Dream twists those apparitions in such a way to be unusuable by me without outside aid. It has resulted, more than once, in my becoming lost in the halls of the school." he adds on at the end, a little sheepish smile crossing his face.

Rising up, gracefully, Maya stands to her full height, with Vare's assistance. Her hand in his feels perfectly normal and warm, no massive strength, smooth skin.

"Thank you, Vare." She gives her skin tight jumpsuit a 'dusting' off, even though spotless, and walks for the door as it starts to open on their approach. "Oh... prepare for fragments." Her expression one of curiosity and concern as she walks past the door frame.

Insert PM details

Once he does pass the door into the hallway, the room behind them becomes the standard blank, not in use, SIM setting. Maya herself looks around, as if examining the hallway, while waiting on Vare.

"I could see why there might be a concern, but, who's to gauge maturity? I've known several -- people we'd call children, due to a legal determination of biological age, people who are far more mature then adults, labeled as such due to the same process. Some rules are just silly, though, in a professional setting, I could see adhering to them as required. Did you break any of the rules here? Did she? I assume ignorance isn't a suitable defense?"

It would appear her interest in the demon and devil discussion waned, as she politely waits for Vare to lead on.

OK Tyb's has decided

Mel was listening and sipping her Hot Cocoa. She seemed have several things going through her mind.

if anyone was reading her thoughts right now would probably go insane t the chaos she is sifting through right now.

Suddenly she gets up and starts to look through the room. She eventually has a guitar in her hands (probably Dave's) and starts strumming like she trying to compile some chords in her head.

Her musical creative juices flowing.

Guys, I have been listening to everything here, and I was just thinking, I know, crazy ain't it, but Pyry, you seem to be holding in a lot of fear. Unsure of this place, of this new life you are starting.

And Asha, despite what you have been through, and how you have chosen to deal with it, this whole place, and life, is just as new to you as well. You probably have your own fears and reservations as well. Just like I did when I first came here, and same for Tybs, and I'll bet even Arthur, of course he'll never admit it.

So I was thinking, I have always let music inspire me, it helps me cope with unpleasantness, and it also helps me say things that I can't always have the right words for.

I guess what I am trying to say is, I'll be here for you guys, I'm not super powerful, or some great "wizard" or even a skilled swordsman or warrior, I'm a simple musician, that happens to be really smart.

So I whipped up this little song in the hopes you guys, all of you guys, will just remember that as of today you have been given a gift.

She then sets up a beat on Tyb's keyboard and gives everyone "the gift of a friend"

Swimming in...

There is a moment or two when she first enters the dry heat of the Sim room that she wonders if the school had done this by itself, like how the rooms change themselves to match. She was just taking in a deep breath with eyes closed when the butler approached, and jumps ever so slightly when he greets her.

"I... I think I'm alright, thanks." Vai replies to the man, not immediately sure if he's real or part of the program.

Taking another look around, she realizes that she's stumbled into someone else's Sim room by accident. A light flush of embarrassment colours her face pink, a colour which deepens once Tryko'Sam - in all his bare-chestedness - calls out to her.

"Uh... not really. Wanted to go flying, actually." she calls back to him over the distance, and as he started his return, she starts again at the flock of birds taking flight.

Moving slowly over to the table, Vai pulls a bit of hair out from behind her ear, using the hair as a safety blanket, the blonde locks falling over a portion of her face, covering an eye. When she does arrive at the table, she absently picks up a sandwich and nibbles at it, trying to decide whether or not she should just leave. He said she was first... did that mean more people were coming? Wasn't what she had in mind. Still... something about the arid climate and the vegetation actually appealed to her. It certainly would make flying easier, with the thermals rising from the ground.

Vai is standing around pretty awkwardly at this point, having had her blonde moment and stumbled into the wrong sim, though she is nibbling on the provided snacks, while looking around, more at the vegetation and setting than at Tryko'Sam or the other man.

"Not as such, no. I... I admit that the Headmaster interrupted us in what was to be an act of passion, which would've been a breach." Vare is coloured slightly by that remark, a bit embarrassed obviously, though not entirely sure if it's the fact that he was rebuked by the Headmaster, or just the subject in general.

When he helped Maya up, he did appear - for all his stuffy robes - to be a fit, athletic young man. "But I'm sure you'd like to discuss something other than me and my affections. I'm actually quite interested in this planet you hail from. Tell me, how do you handle plagues and the like without the intervention of clerics and their ilk? It seems that without their intervention, plagues would spread much more widely." Alright, maybe he is uncomfortable with the subject matter, with such an abrupt subject change like that.

Once they've exited the Sim room, Vare seems to be more on edge, and Maya does note that he seems to flinch occasionally, or move in strange ways seemingly without reason. With the influence of the fragments, as he spoke of earlier, she might begin to see why he has been considered a madman before.

Another thing she might note - depending on her senses and the like - is that he seems to be regarding her somewhat strangely, when his attention span allows it. Not lecherous or anything like that, just giving her a bit of a odd look here and there.

Having reached the other end, Tryko'Sam rises out of the water and finds a towel to wrap and start drying off with. He heads over towards Vai, bare feet atop the intricate mosaic surface of the pool's non-water surface, made up of various dark browns, off yellow and black smooth stones sealed together. The pattern is clearly random in make, and if one liked too, losing thought in just watching their combinations would be an easy thing to do.

The butler person appears to meld into the background, back to his umbrella covered mini-bar area, where drinks can be made after a nod.

Once he's finally reached Vai, Tryko'Sam's got the towel around his neck, hanging on his chest (and thus covering himself up some), while dressed in nearly knee length black swim shorts. Where muscles do display, he's a lean and fit figure, more martial artist, versus weight lifter. No visible scars or tattoos either.

"Hey, flying? Why not take a tour of this?" He motions to the air and such. "It's a ranch I used to visit-- I think, back on my world. I was recreating it as an mental exercise while trying to work out the bod a bit. Good way to vent steam, swimming." He gives her, what she might recognize as his distinctive, smirk, and looks around. "These SIM rooms are really remarkable. I figure I'll be hanging out in them a lot until I get more settled."

The door she'd entered into at this point had shut, which appeared to be a simple looking doorway into the main building.

Looking back at Vai again with a smile this time, he asks, "How're the folks? We did good back -- uh, out there, thanks for the invite."

At this point, he starts to dry his mane, ruffling it up with the towel.

Female Avalon Professor
Vare, the Summoner wrote:

Stifling a chuckle after the mention of 'act of passion', Maya's expression is one of bemusement, but, she doesn't press.

In response to the topic of plagues and the like, Maya says, "Oh, we cured people via chemical or biological solutions, medicine, which anyone with the proper training -- which wasn't very many, would be capable of producing, in the appropriate laboratories. I suspect, practically anything you might accomplish with magic, we did with science and understanding of the world we lived in. Trust me, though, sometimes there were quite a few scares about new epidemics cropping up. Thankfully as well, we had some extremely intelligent people dedicated to helping humanity. Worked out nicely-- save the historical periods of mass deaths, before science became more prevalent. It's an interesting history, not my favorite subject, though. I much prefer architecture and graphic art work. Along with ...well, the usual things someone did back home. Do people need a profession here to acquire money, or is this a socialized society where contributions are rewarded by a stipend or something? I'm curious how this society works. Form of government, etcetera, positively exciting, truth be told."

She glances around following his gaze occasionally, but doesn't seem to react poorly, or otherwise, to his strange ways. She does, however, appear thoughtful while walking along.
