You would think, with all the different vampires all over the world, from mosquito-headed people to flying heads that strangle you with their digestive track to the ones that feed on feelings, people wouldn't be to foolish outraged by ones that sparkle in the sun because their skin is like diamonds.
And I come back to a lengthy discussion on vampires?! ;P

Yep. Cupcakes for breakfast, a trip to the bead store to buy my birthday present...I'm not gonna be able to get my jewelry box closed after I finish with all the earrings and potentially even a necklace or two from all those beads....and then got all dolled up (pretty new dress, yay) to go out to a fancy restaurant with the family, and ended the evening by watching Solomon Kane. A very good birthday indeed. :)

Re: Lawsuit, Aye, that whole aspect of old vampires hiding behind humanity, using their money and influence, that's the Masquerade in VtM.
Also, what David described is an Abomination in the Word of Darkness(WoD). Which you also see in Underworld.
As for which clan that is whose ancient is hunting them, sounds like either Nosferatu or the Givoanni who are being hunted by the Harbingers of Skulls.
As to why I hate Twicrap so much, its because it completely destroys what it means to be a vampire.
You can't impregnate or get pregnant, cuz ur dead!! The only bodily fluid that still exists and matters is blood, and that can't impregnate somebody. Even if it could, the rest of your body is still dead. Pretty much the only organs that continue to function are your heart and brain.
Also, when a vampire steps into the sun, they don't get all glittery, they start to burn up, very quickly. The only reason she changed that was to make it possible for her characters to stalk people in the daylight.
Finally, everything Lyn said is 100%, and then some. Not only is there lots and lots of themes of abuse, but the book is rife with examples of women being weak, pathetic, and seem to need men. I hate that crap, and I'm not even a girl IRL.

I have a habit of not noticing underlying concepts in books I read. It wasn't until a friend pointed how stupid Bella was and creepy Edward was that I realized how weird the series is.
Once, I read and entire series without realizing, until the last chapter, how it was based on the Bible and was basically the Heaven/Hell fight. The dragons and swordfights might have helped there though.
Was that series the dragons in our midst series?

Agreed. And there's plenty worth mocking in other vampire genres as well.
I once got disinvited to a VtM game because my character was too cheerful about being undead. ("Well of course I ate them! They were delicious!" ;P) They wanted angst and did not appreciate a sense of humor about it apparently.:)
Oh my God I am so doing that next time I play that game(if there is a next time)

In all the series, movies, comics, etc that I know of, only twilight drastically changes to the physiology of the vampire.
Psychologically, there is no limits do what a vampire can or can not be. Lyn was clearly a Malkavian or a vamp of another clan with a normal derengement.
However, much like D&D and Pathfinder, she clearly ran across a bad Storyteller.

I refer you to my previous post about the Pnigalion(digestive tract strangler) from real lore, not comics and movies that try to mimic. If that lore doesn't change up vamp physiology, nothing does.

What about the yang chi a Chinese vamp type they didn't drain blood they drained chi through your breath and emotions
Or Rosario vampire based on the Japanese vampire they weren't bothered by the sun and could have kids they weren't even dead but another spicies of monster
Or my favorite the saga of daren Shawn aka the cirque du freak their vamps also were not undead but sterile nonetheless for some unspecified reason they even had to eat normal food on top of it
Face it vampires have taken on so many different faces there's no way to say what is or isn't a vampire anymore
Victor from Underworld is in my mind the perfect example of what a vampire should be.
It probably helps that he was played by Bill Nighy, though.

MG that's it in a nut shell and what worry's me is the fact the books are a Teen Girl hit. I love String willed women, Eddie boy is a git, and Beller is as dumb as a brick. Then they have a kid, I bet it turns out to be PeeWee Herman.

After Drove a Gas taker onto the Vampire Curt in a city wile the clans where having a Meeting, and kind of blow them up, Started a war, and rank up the Hunters to tell them where a clan was based, I was asked to leave the game.
HES A VAMPIRE I kept telling them, HE HAS NO MORALITY AT ALL!
He did a lot of other things that show showed up the dumb logic at the hart of a vampire game.
@Dom: I think, like most of the game, the school clubs are made up. I know there is a fencing club, and there used to be a conjurer's club, for example.
and now a VtM club! hahah
but yeah i cant remember what clan it was but im pretty sure it was the ones who can throw fireballs. i dont think nosferatu, i wanna say the clan started with a T. my name is stuck on Telvanni but i know that isnt right.

the same Storyteller of the VtM game i almost played was our DM for a forgotten realms game, and he and i got into a yelling match (he was doing most of the yelling, at this point i was amused) over drow. we were fighting a drow necromancer, and i was a vow of poverty/peace/nonviolence monk working on trying to become an apostle of peace.
well i managed to get the drow into a bad spot where she was going to have to listen to my sermons for as long as it took to convert her, and the DM was telling me she couldnt be converted. i showed him the conversion rules in the book of exalted deeds, from which we were already using rules, and it even referenced a RED DRAGON being converted. but he refused to let the drow be converted.
They also turned an Ilithid from its evil ways into a Lawful-Good monk....in the Book of Exalted Deeds
I had a LN illithid blacksmith wizard illithids aren't inheritly evil just extremely empirealistic with an evil culture
The rad dragon is the best example of the three
Ilithids are completely controled by the Elder Brain... Which is completely and utterly evil....
Not completely they feel compelled sorta like an at will sugestion but slightly weaker and there are several elder brains just under one per clar group thing some aren't connected as their clan doesn't have one and instead have a brain eater dragon this being small clans only
The illithid clans of the spelljam campaign setting are merchantile for example

If you read the Book of Abberations.... the Elder Brain can kill the mind flayers under their control at will... and mind flayers have no emotions like love, happiness, hope.... the closest feeling they have to any of those is the "taste" of eating a brain....

I mentioned an evocation classroom once, so maybe. It certainly might people from blowing things up.I know there is a summoning club, is there an evocation club?
I teach evocation, of course I have a classroom. Harrumph! ;P
And yeah, clubs are kinda a make-it-up-as-you-go thing. The summoning club is under strict supervision now, though. Last year they accidentally summoned an army of demons that overran the school for a whole afternoon before they were wiped out. The club was disbanded after that. But new year, new club, stricter advisor.
There is a fencing club, and I'm sure we can include an evocation club, a cooking club, a flower-arranging club, or anything else that might tickle your fancy.
As far as bands are concerned there are a whole series of student bands and there will be open tryouts. Pretty much assume that you can find a band somewhere. Start one. If you can rope in other PCs, all the better. If not, we'll work it out with NPCs. Band tryouts will be in the evening, probably after the first day of classes. That's when they happened last term.

Can't remember what clan that character was from. It was my first time trying VtM. Never did get to actually play. I got booted during the character creation session. And , oh goodness, yes, very bad Storyteller. Who of course wouldn't admit to being a bad Storyteller. It was their novel and we were apparently being allowed to sit there while they narrated it to us. Bleh. (I'd been in another game run by them that imploded due to player frustration, only tried joining this one because I was curious about the system.) I wasn't sad about not staying. :)
