I don't see it as baiting. It just wasn't important to the story to say more. Now in season 8 I could see it coming up again. There are lots of encampments to search for human prisoners after all.
What interests me is the the Galra, Alteans, and Humans seem capable of crossbreeding. What link do they have?
I didn't either but then again I'm straight so it's hard for me to always see those sorts of problems/issues, and I try to be sympathetic to those who do have them. I can certainly see why but I agree that, without the context of the final season, it's hard to make a judgement on stuff.
I'm not entirely sure they are connected... mostly because the Galra seem massively genetically diverse, so I wonder if there's just ALOT of interbreeding going on in that universe. It was a big deal for Lotor that he wasn't pureblooded, which to me indicates that it wasn't actually that uncommon. I would have to do a rewatch to really confirm that though.
Actually are there any Altean/Human crosses? Just Galra/Altean and Galra/Human, right? Maybe it's just the Galra.

Anytime I need inspiration for Starfinder, I know where to look ;)
Agreed - as well as inspiration for our little corner of the gaming universe here.
The information on Quintessence alone over the past few seasons has given me cause to muse over certain...things.
Again. (=^-^=)

I don't touch spheres of power.
That's too bad. It's the best magic system I've ever seen.

It stands to reason there could be Human/Altean pairings. I'm sure if the new series has a 'sequel' and Lance and Allura get together we'll find out.

I have almsot all of the PFSRD well enough down that I can prattle off options to make almost anything using nothing but pazio products.
The amount of time I have spent learning this system is so massive that leaving it in any way makes me feel all my time was wasted learning pathfinder.

icehawk333 |

With all due respect that's like saying you've got Harry Potter down pat so you don't waste time reading the Merlin series.
I do not pretend to be sane, but
That's really not the same.I have a strictly limited amount of time I can play games.
Learning another system cuts into my time, invariably, that I could be, say, working on a new adventure path for pathfinder.
Because if I switch to another system, that investment of time no longer means anything, as I'm not using it for anything.
The memorizing of rules is not the goal, the goal is the game and being proficient at it.
Unlike a book, where the purpose is entertainment as part of reading, rules knowladge defers entertainment into the future.

But as I said, I do not pretend to be sane.
I'm an odd sort, who hates to read anything already finished, for things with an ending seem less valuable
The kind that can't often get behind single player expirences because sometime, it will be finished.

Honestly, extrinsic value is perfectly fine for a game system. There's nothing wrong with it being valuable for reasons other than itself, and is probably the majority for most players.
For me though, game systems have intrinsic value - they are valuable in and of themselves and require no actual play for me to have entertainment from them. I love seeing how game systems work and how they work. As I get older, more of my focus on games is how they're designed (this includes video games, board games and tabletop).

The Spheres system is still Pathfinder, just an alternate form of magic. Kinda like Path of War, or Psionics(from Dreamscarred Press).
Now, I can't speak for Spheres, but if you only limit yourself to Paizo only classes, you are seriously selling yourself short on some really awesome character options. Thus, also missing out new and interesting stories and games.

Okay this is weird.
I just started up a game of Stellaris, and one of the "Barren" worlds in my home system is... well...

I can build almost any charecter with pazio only, and maybe once play by posts actually run spheres or whatnot.
I stick to pazio only also because PBP is most of my games, and almost none of them allow any non pazio.
And I don't blame them, event the best of third party products, psionics, is still rather unbalanced.

Monkeygod |

Heh, most of the games I'm in or applied to recently, allow most 3pp stuff.
It's not about whether or not you can build any character with Paizo only, it's about different, and interesting variations on a theme.
After all, a Cleric of Nethys is different than a Wizard of Nethys, no?

Monkeygod |

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Both characters are worshipers of Nethys(concept) but they play very differently.
There's very few brand new concepts I've come up with due to having access to 3pp classes, but I am able to adjust and alter the build and play to be very different than what I could accomplish with solely Paizo material.
For example, using just Paizo classes, how many ways could you build an assassin? Single class, no gestalt, no multiclassing, no variant multiclassing.

Monkeygod |

Variant multiclassing is an option from a non core book. Not all GMs allow stuff from Unchained.
Ten classes. Not bad.
I'll add: Stalker, Harbinger, Psychic Warrior, Cryptic, Assassin(yes, it's a 20 level class), Clever Godling, Mighty Godling, Adept Godling, Eldritch Godling, Shadow Warrior, Eclipse.
That's just off the top of my head, without really trying.
With your 10 and my 11, we get 21 different ways to build an assassin.
Personally, I would add Sorcerer, Alchemist, Inquisitor, Magus, Investigator, and Swashbuclker to your Paizo list, for a grand total of 27 classes that one use to can create an assassin type concept with.
Each and every one of them can be played 100% differently than the others. You could play a different assassin every month for 2+ years, and not truly duplicate the experience.

icehawk333 |

I have more to add from the pazio list, but I was heading into work.
Godlings are unbalanced, and I ban them on every game I run.
Psionics are unbalanced. Really, really unbalanced. I'm honestly loathe to offer them.
I haven't looked into shadow warrior, eclipse, or assassin.

I love Voltron except for a few things. I don't like all of the "we just happen to find this one thing that's important to me in the infinite vastness of space.
I also don't like the Alura is Space Racist. Like, I hated the whole thing where she had the issues with the one character all of a sudden after that one revelation. You know what I'm talking about if you've seen it. I hated that.

I can see that criticism but I also feel like there's magic and mystical energy in that universe which helps to enable such things. Also Gundam SEED does that a lot but it's still great.
As far as the space racism, I mostly didn't like how it was handled rather than disliking the concept. The sudden hatred felt a bit jarring. I feel like it would have been more compelling if it was a slow build and then Allura snapped in a stressful moment or something.

I feel like Lucas is being unfairly maligned in this conversation hahaha.
indeed, conniving as he is he totally cares about his siblings.
(Also totally not above sibling pranks if he hears about this)(Also regarding mutations I seem plenty normal, though my telepathy is exceedingly well developed, capable of overhearing other people’s telepathic conversations and pinpointing someone’s location and approximately how smart they are)

Posting this to all my games:
Tomorrow, I embark on a week+ long 'vacation', wherein I get to work both Baltimore Comic Con, and New York Comic Con(hopefully!) with the amazing and incredible Greg Horn!!
As such, my posting may be spotty, or possibly even non existent until my return(some time around Oct 9th).
I will do my best to post/reply, as I will have both my laptop and smartphone with me, but I make no promises!

Gnolls are good, so are giant bugs like centipedes and scorpions, maybe lead by mites (the giant bugs will be more threatening than the average mite, but a few mites added for variety isn’t bad)
If the desert is numeria you could add malfunctioning robots of some kind

lynora |

Lurch, no worries. We are going very slowly. Heck, I'm still reading old stuff trying to remember what all happened in what order so I don't screw things up going forward. I had forgotten a lot, tbh. So don't worry about starting out at a breakneck pace. :)
