My condolences Lyn, but I have some good news (and bad news)-
I'm on new medication, and I have a scrap of my old enthusaim back.
Two charecters I've been planning on, a couple rebuilds, some extra worldbuilding, Questions about a few things Havel is doing, and two plots, one small and one large, are on my to do list.
The bad news is- once you give the word that it's ok to send them, you're getting a lot of PM's, Lyn.

*waves* Hey. Still here. Sorry for causing worry. At the end of hell month and managed to help the kidlet catch up and pass all classes...woo! Now we have to figure out how to get the non epileptic seizures to stop >.< This is a whole other thing and we have many much therapy to do and nobody even knows how we are going to manage when school starts again in the fall. *sigh*
Anyhow the short version is that I have been too overwhelmed to process stuff and communicate and things. And obviously kidlet comes first, so when that doesn’t leave any energy left for other things...*shrug* Trying to get back to doing things needed for basic personing like interacting with other people and writing journals and crap like that. But first catching up on sleep! Sleep as it turns out is a vitally important part of basic functioning...

I ATEN'T DEAD
On a more serious note, what I am doing is struggling with language skills. I'm not a fan of the selective mutism. It's hella embarrassing, tbh. But I'm not having an easy time with writing either. Over-editing gone wild until I just give up. This article does an adequate job of explaining what I'm experiencing. Some of you will be able to relate more than others. I've gone from masking too well to not at all, and it's not the first time I've had a breakdown like this. I know my language will come back if I give myself some space. I've been practicing on twitter. Short form is easier. Relatively speaking. Hey, I'm down to only ten minutes of panic to post a freaking cat pic! Lord, I wish that were an exaggeration. :/
I'm sorry it took me so long to put together enough words to let y'all know what was going on. I did not mean to just ghost. I am trying to get back to 'normal', for certain definitions of normal that definitely include cranking out paragraphs of interactive fiction on a regular basis. Cause I miss that more than I can tell you.

Hey all,
I decided to follow our lovely and awesome GM over on the Twitter Machine, and I can happily inform you she still lives! Unless of course she decided to possess her phone in order to keep Tweeting from beyond the grave!! LOL!
Also, awesome note, I'm in a recruitment basically for demigods, and I've decided to give my 'angel of light' PC the Sunwake last name! :)

Hey DB3, it's going pretty good. Hopefully the same for you.
I've been bumping around the site a bit more due to the playtest (at least, when the site is working). Liking alot of the playtest rules and glad they didn't just make 3.P.5 and instead went in a brand new direction. Good stuff. Still a few kinks to iron out but I am hopeful.
On the RP side of things IRL I am running 2 Starfinder campaigns, a 5e campaign. In addition there's PF2 campaign on Roll20. Busy busy! Luckily most of them are not a weekly affair.
I guess I should get to the meat of my post:
A few months ago Dalesman suggested that I dip my toe back in since I missed you guys and I admit that I did want to, but was never sure.
Now I am sure: I would like to rejoin the game, even if just with 1 character
I realize that this is a bad time for this post since Lyn is having her own troubles right now, and I hope I can emphasise for her that I understand why I was asked to leave and that it was an emotionally taxong thing to do. Lyn if you don't want to or can't answer then nothing changes so there is no pressure to provide a response.
Thanks for your time. :)

Honestly, pre-breakdown I don't think I would have gone for it. But having to practice forgiving myself for my weaknesses has put me in a different mindset. So good time for asking for a second chance. ^.^
Send me a PM and we can discuss what you want a return to look like, and try to work something out.

PM sent! Where on this new-fangled interface do you see new PMs?
I think you have to click on the menu icon in the top right of the window, click My Account, then select My Profile. The "Private Messages" tab is on the far right.

No more nice red dot? I used to get so excited about that lol.

Um, I don't recall if there's a 'nice read dot' or not, but you definitely get a notification in the top right corner Dalesman mentioned :)
Also, excited to have you back!! I have my own suggestion as to who you should return to playing, but I'm clearly biased lol.

There's definitely no 'you have mail' dot anymore. I've taken to keeping a separate tab open to messages so I can keep track of it. I think it does give an indicator on the drop down menu on the laptop, but I'm usually accessing the site on my phone and there's no indicator there. I definitely miss it.

Anyone been digging into the playtest for PF2?
I have been a bit. Enjoying it thoroughly, though I feel there are a few kinks to iron out (like needing a general set of class action feats), and more Basic actions to engage in that aren't feat-taxed. I also feel that spells are something of a missed opportunity. I'd like to see more spells designed like Magic Missile or Harm/Heal, where there is flexibility and choice in the number of casting actions, instead of the default being 2.
They borrowed alot of the design ethos from Starfinder, which has fast become my favourite version of 3rd edition.

Well, at least I can start directing my foucs at other hobbies. Writing, or playing final fantasy 14.
Because I sure as hell am not learning another system.
expecally one based on starfinder
Aaaand there's dispair.
Over a game.
Geez I'm oversensitive.

icehawk333 |

Starfinder seems simple and from what I know, AC tanking is basically impossible.
I love sprawling options and detailed optimizations
... sometimes I enjoy making charecters more then playing the game itself.
Just today I came up with a build that uses preformance combat to take 1000+ feet of movement in one round while full attacking, or at least, until the DM caps free actions, by using preforming combatant and a feat that makes swift preform checks a free action, and allows you to use performance combat feats with that free action, so you can mocking dance after every attack.

Starfinder is hugely equipment based (I hate the idea of equipment that could be even considered as useful as the person holding it, unless the equipment is also a person.)
Starfinder seems to be based around an attempt at simplicity and game balance. (I understand why people like this one, but I hate it so.)
Starfinder is a sci-fi setting. (Assumedly pathfinder 2 isn't, but honestly I prefer settings where sword and bows are still viable, even if it doesn't make sense when there are guns in the setting)
Starfinder is of the mind that you shouldn't really be able to AC tank. (Saw some numbers, and agaisnt a foe of equal level, you can't even get your AC high enough that they miss half the time.)
In short, my starfinder hate boils down to-
It really doesn't mesh with what I like in tabletop RPG's.
I can get why some people like it, but it frustrates me on many levels.

Pazio will be releasing PF1 stuff up until they are finished with the playtest, or next GenGon, so you have some time.
Also, a lot of people are currently very unhappy with the changes made, so I get the feeling there will still be plenty of PF1 games out there.
Finally, I know some of the 3pp are taking a very wait and see approach as to whether they will be making PF2 material, and many have said that as long as their is still demand for PF1 product, they will keep making them.
TL;DR, no need to get upset and despair, PF1 may no longer be supported via Paizo directly(come next Aug, maybe), but it's not going to just die off and go away.

No need to apologize, Icy. If you can't talk about edition wars on a gaming site, where can you?! ;)
I'm recovering. Slower than I'd like. Turns out I no can language under intense stress, especially when a lot of that stress comes from faking 'normal'. Fun with autism. *sigh*

Obviously this is a matter of style rather than objective fact so I can appreciate your opinion. Especially about the lack of crunch. I am currently playing in a 5e game and sometimes the rules seem to intentionally omit important parts of the rules for the sake of simplicity and it frustrates me to no end.
However my experience with Starfinder is that it is actually less equipment reliant than PF1E. At least in the sense that there isn't nearly as much equipment tax. No more need to get amulets of natural armour, rings of protection and resistance upgraded ASAP as you level. While it's true that you still need to regularilu upgrade armour and weapons, even the diversity of weapons means that there is more wide power vs tall power (to borrow a phrase from Civ). In other words, equipment in Starfinder tends to encourage more options in combat over bigger numbers. My last few PF1 games I ran we used automatic magic progression because my players were bored of buying the same magic items every game.
Unfortunately I also feel that PF2E slid a bit backwards on this particular aspect (there is more equipment tax in PF2E than SF).
Again, a matter of style, but I personally feel that the math in SF is very finely tuned, but requires a but of a perspective shift. The CR+4 boss is going to be around 80-90% hit rate, but the CR-3 minions are more like 15-25% hit rate. This makes CR+4 enemies massively more dangerous than in PF1, especially with how full attacks work in SF (two attacks each at -4). As a DM it makes me feel encounters are much easier to make more dynamic. (Okay a few minions cool and that one has a plasma cannon! Priority target! But wait the boss is a massive threat too! What do)
Anyway, just wanted to express why I love Starfinder, I can definitely see your perspective too, and probably would have agreed with it 10 years ago. (I feel like an old giddy at times).

That being said, would it be more stressful if the thread started moving again or more encouraging? If it's the former then I will hold off.
Even for neurotypical people, trying to fit definitions of "normal" isn't very fun, I can't imagine what it would be like to have a large part of yourself denied because of it.

Hi Kryzbyn!! Hey Magic!!
Glad to see the ooc section for this most wonderful and beloved of games active again, even if only for a day or two.
I've missed ya'll tons!!
Expect DB3, but only cuz I think we're buddies on FB, so I see stuff from him occasionally, lol
