"Unless he have other motive? Only reason I can think of to respond way he did to us." He takes a sip of his drink. "Glifdore one paying us though. Maybe he have idea of what would be most helpful. If he not here when Ezra and Banana return, maybe we go find him?" He pauses. "Unless Ezra and Banana still asleep? In which case we wake them up, yes?" The big grin on his face clearly indicates that he's already trying to think up amusing wake up calls.
Khron grins at the Shoanti man. "I can agree t' 'at," he says.
At that very moment, Ezra arrives! Small town. If imagine I can get here pretty quickly after speaking to the guard, even with a broken leg.
The warpriest turns to see the Asmodean enter the tavern. "Oi, Ezra. C'mere. We're plannin'," he explains simply to the Chelaxian, a wry grin on his face.

Ezra simplmy gives a grin of his own and strolls over. "I think that the first order of business is trying to identify this robed figure. Perhaps one of us has heard of any necromancers in Andoran who might be connected to this specific series of events?" He looks at Yorrick, but starts to rack his own brain for answers as well.
Would a knowledge local or history help at all?

Yorrick |

I would be pretty shocked if a Necromancer of renown were mucking about here. Seems like it has to be an upstart doesn't it? Yorrick frowns, puzzled.

Gotin "Banana" Immel |

@Gotin
Glifdore barks a laugh. "Close, no ones really close with Payk. Every'ne in town knows of him now, but no one knows him. When I asked him about the idea for a merc guild he said I should do it, so he has that going for him. "
okay, let's start there. What does "everyone" know? I don't mean to offend, but he just seems off to me. I'm sure he's very talented but he's skittish and immature and foolhardy, like a little boy who's stolen his pa's hunting knife. He knlws he's gonna get caught, but he's itching to use it before that happens. 'Make sense?
he continues to nurse his coffeehow do you like that, by the way?

Glifdore |

@Ezra and Yorrick: Is the robed figure you're referring to Kathal? Payk mentioned his name as such.
@Gotin
"Everyone knows Payk is a scoundrel, but they know he won't actually hurt anyone so they let him do his mischief and punish him accordingly. He's needed to do bigger acts for a while to get the attention he wants, but stealing the gold form the guard is probably the most illegal thing I've seen him do. And, well, you saw him out the door as soon as he heard the scream. He wants attention, and he'll do good or slightly bad to get it." Glifdore frowns at the drink. "I wanted to avoid saying it but it tastes like horse piss." He keeps drinking it though.
I'm dropping the Glifdore accent if you didn't notice, I'm not doing a good enough job to continue it.

HAR! I wouldn't know... That's alright, it's an acquired taste for some, to be sure. I'm told it stunts your growth, anyway... drinks more of his own for emphasis but you trust him, Payk, I mean, enough to invite him into this venture and to placate his poor little swollen head by making him captain, even though half (if not all) his excuses for not being more forthcoming with what he knows make no sense at all?... no, it's alright. I think I trust YOU, Glifdore, and I'm sure you've got good reason, but I don't like being lied to, and so you'll forgive me if I keep my eye on our good captain.
Besides, I think I may need his help shortly, because however little I trust him, I trust your mayor even less, and I'd like to have closer look at his residence and office, and while I can be circumspect on my own, locks I don't do and could use an expert... any idea where our resident expert is about now?...
Glifdore |

Poking around in the inn, you manage to piece together some information about Kathal. Everyone notes his wide brimmed hat and white hair and beard but you also learn that he seems to be a known wizard, though no one is exactly sure where he lives.
"You don't have to worry about him being a captain, he usually gives up his antics in battle and he'll steer you well enough. No idea where he might be though, he's not an easy one to keep track of."

Gotin "Banana" Immel |

thought not sighs well, I'm off to skirt the town to see if I can differentiate any zombie tracks leading away from it, but I suspect the rest f the company will be headed back to the tavern soon if they're not already there. Shall I meet you there at midday?
regardless of the answer, here are 4 tracking rolls to see if I can find appropriate zombie tracks
survival:zombie tracking 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
survival:zombie tracking 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
survival:zombie tracking 3: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
survival:zombie tracking 4: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
meh!! I'll throw in a perception check at the battle site
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
less meh!

---GM Shadowtail24--- |
Glifdore nods. You can find tracks well enough that lead back to the graveyard. In the graveyard, though all of the graves they lead to are filled in. There is enough evidence at such graves to think they might have been dug up and then refilled in, but you're nt sure. You do notice that the farther back into the expansive graveyard you wander the upkeep seems less pristine.
perc: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Yorrick |

well wasn't Banana talking to our leader in the inn? He would have had to leave through the common room. No reason for us not to go considering Yorrick has been asking for someone to track the zombies back to where they came from

K'leckemaki |

Noticing Ezra walk in, K'leck grins and pats him heartily on the back. "Good! You are up! Come and eat lunch with us." His voice drops significantly in volume as he continues in a "whisper." "Is Banana up? Or will we get to wake him ourselves?" Without waiting for much of a response, he gets up and sneaks to group's set of rooms.
Stealth: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (7) - 3 = 4
Or rather, as you might expect from such a large man in armor, he "sneaks" to the set of rooms. It actually seems like his attempt has him making more noise than normal.
He returns after not too long looking slightly crestfallen. "Banana is not there, so no wake up call." He quickly perks up though. "Maybe some other time I get to show off my alarm rooster impression." He rather quickly finishes off the rest of his lunch.
"So, I went to graveyard. Not much to see; graves looked oddly undisturbed. What have the rest of you been up to?"

Ezra Thorne |

Ezra gives a small pout. "I sent a letter back to the Consortium and hopefully they will assist in this matter... but I am not sure when I will get a response. Besides by that time, I'm sure that we would have some sort of lead or conclusion to this tale. Other than that, I tried to purchase some land. I'm thinking I might have to settle here for work you see... but the mayor's office sent me off. I'm thinking they are planning to evacuate VERY soon if they aren't interested in an offer if money. We should go out looking for Gotin and see if we can speed up this investigation. Perhaps we can all watch the graveyard tonight..."

K'leckemaki |

K'leck shrugs. "I was just there, but we can go back if you wish. I will show you the way. But perhaps we should leave note with barkeep in case Gotin comes here looking for us? Or maybe Glifdore will come looking for us."
With that K'leck quickly finishes his drink, leaves a message with the barkeep explaining where they're going, and leads people to the graveyard.

Ezra Thorne |

you reach the graveyard in the late morning. Gotin is already there, poking around the graves.
Ezra gives a short wave to his countryman and smiles. "Hail friend! Have you found anything useful?" He is careful not to stay out Gotin's way as he pokes around the graves. He starts to offer his help... But stops when he remembers how oblivious he could be.

Khron Stonearm |

Khron gives the graveyard a once over, slight distaste at the other races' form of burial. 'No won'er 'ey 'ave t' deal wit' th' undead all th' toime. Jus' leavin' 'eir dead layin' round. Returnin' 'em t' th' stone's much safer,' he thinks to himself as he keeps his eyes peeled.
"We need t' keep our wits 'bout us," the Toragian instructs the others. "I don' trust necromancers nor th' unlivin' as far as I can throw 'em."

"I trust them less than that." The man grins. "Can throw them quite far." When I level up some, that's totally what I'm going to be doing.
K'leck then walks over to one of the newly filled in graves to show the rest of the group. "Look here. It seems undead may have come out, and yet the grave is filled. What mean this thing? Is someone trying to cover this up? I saw hut where groundskeeper might live, but have seen no man. And the graves further back are much more overgrown than these ones here. If there is groundskeeper, he is not properly doing job."

Gotin "Banana" Immel |

looks up at the sound of Ezra's voice; he smiles though is slightly annoyed at having been disturbed.
g'morning all, have a look here; someone tried to cover it up, but these graves have been disturbed, like they've been dug up and refilled. I was just about to scout out the older sections of the cemetery; they're pretty unkempt and overgrown, too easy to hide something back there, if you want to give me a hand and can be a bit quieter than, say, you're being right now...

Yorrick |

Yorrick wanders focusing with detect magic and then Arcana or spell craft as needed
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 for either Spellcraft or Arcana

Yorrick |

Not much to find, but there are traces around these he points them out[/b] graves.[/b]
He ponders for a moment. Perhaps we should see if there is anything inside them?

Yorrick |

there is no body in there. We might as well find out what is.
so slavery is fine but digging up an empty grave to stop the crime isn't?

Ezra Thorne |

surprised and impressed by the idea I don't see how it could hurt, and we might even learn something
Ezra frowns, quite uncomfortable with the idea of digging up an even empty grave. So digging up an empty grave is okay, but slavery regulated by law isn't?

Khron Stonearm |

Khron crosses his arms and harrumphs at the whole situation. "Gonna 'ave t' get our 'ands dirty if we're gonna figure out 'at's causin' all 'is. Lit'rally, in 'is case," he says, though he looks less pleased about the idea of disturbing the grave than he sounds.
'Silly tradition or not, I know it ain't roight t' mess wit' the restin' place o' th' dead... but some'un a'ready did, so I s'pose 'is is jus' somethin' we gotta do,' he thinks to himself, looking between the other merc guild members.

Yorrick |

I am open to other suggestions. But we have no clues and messing with the necromancer a work might spook him or her into making a rash mistake.
anyone have a shovel?. If not he will go back to town and buy one

Gotin "Banana" Immel |

audibly sighs before wondering off to inspect a nearby tree. there is the sound of a water jet striking tree bark followed by
stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
nothing
using his comrades' conversation as a distraction, Gotin slips off to investigate the area further, especially the older overgrown bits

K'leckemaki |

K'leck frowns. "I think I agree with Ezra. I do not see point in digging up graves. What would we hope to find? It just seem like easy way to give mayor excuse to lock us up. Or is grave robbing not a crime down here?" Unlike Ezra though, his concern seems more practically oriented rather than morally so, and if others insist upon digging up the graves, then, not being one to stand idly by, he will help.
