Since this is the longest I really have played PFS this question goes to the Veterans.
Does playing Core only feel like hard mode on some of the Scenarios? I mean we are limited in feats and gear and Classes but still have to face all the classes that are presented in the Scenarios.
Ie. We just fought an Alchemist or something akin to that and other classes that we don't have access too.

Yes, it is harder at high level. Some scenarios would be nearly impossible (of everything non-Core, Echolocation is what I would miss most in some Seeker games).
It can be done. I have run a Core Rogue through all of the Bonekeep levels. Timed out near the end, but he didn't die (and he mostly solo'd the BBEG on one level). The trick is to fight smart. You can't count on your power build steamrolling everything. You have to consider the terrain and not just charge in, employ bottlenecks to gang up on foes, buff with scrolls and potions, try combat maneuvers sometimes (True Strike + a maneuver is a nasty combo), and do things besides just full-attack until the foes die.

Sounds good, I have played a lot of PF and D&D before this but this will be different becuase of the way things go. Kelris has an Adamantine Halberd now, I don't want him to be a beat stick but it is hard with a standard fighter right now.
I should go for disarm since that will be useful at times.

I mean, a high-Str fighter with a two-handed weapon can do really well with just Core. You might miss some of the save-boosting non-Core items eventually, but you can shore that up to a degree with feats or with spells from allies (Heroism being one of the best spells ever).

That is why I went for it, a bit of a Meta game choice but it made sense for Kelris to take it on. I need to buy some Full plate Armor that will put me to AC 20 and then I go from there.

![]() |

Haha! Yeah i dont think i have ever rolled two 20's in a row for a crit like that on forums before! :)

Hey everyone, just wanted to check in and see how everyone is going. I hope everyone is okay!

![]() |

Hey @GM, just wanted to point out that Kelris has not posted since June 12th. I have had a look at the players other games, and it apears he is busy with real life issues stopping him from posting across the forums.
Could you either help bot, or hand him over to one of us for the duration of this adventure so we can move forward. We've been on round 1 and 2 for just under a month now...

Kavor Doan is at 20.5 XP, so will hit 8th level even if he takes the slow track (which I guess I will do).
The next scenario planned is Valley of Veiled Flame. I've done that one in both Standard and Core, but I do have some replays available. It's a tough scenario so having an 8 along might be good even in the low tier.
Would we look to replace Kelris for the time being? Kavor Doan can go into "Fighter Mode" and fill that role. Just a question if we want a fifth PC.

I am also happy to play with a party of 4. Makes encounters a little quicker over pbp with smaller groups. However, Morka is more than happy with making new friends during a long form adventure!

@James, I can have Kavor Doan be a second melee guy. Just a question of having his fullplate on and prepping Still spells. He really prefers to be in "fighter mode" anyway. It will mean he won't get to cast Haste, but we can get scrolls for Fethril or Morka to use.

@GM - two things on the Chronicle Sheet. Kavor Doan was out of subtier, if you could circle that, and he will be taking Slow Track.
I can fill in the gold earned and spent plus the Day Job. Just posting it here for reference:
Day Job, Profession (Merchant): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 Always earn at least 50.
Spent 200 on bribes, reimbursed by the Exchange for 50 of that (Faction card).
Previous: 11,511
Earned: +1,988 (slow track out of subtier)
Spent: -150
Day job: +50
New total: 13,399

GM Fez |

Ok, so here's my situation now. My new job has me on a 4-10 schedule and I've got an hour drive to and from work. Normally I'd log in from work during down time, but I don't have access to google drive or outside sites because of the products being built. I'm going to try and figure out how I'll be able to keep running games with the lack of time.

GM Fez |

I'm really sorry about this everyone, but I'm going to be dropping all of my games. I just don't have the bandwidth to run games with the new job, my one year old, and another on the way (my wife's nesting instincts are running hard which means all sorts of house projects for me to do).
You guys are a great group, and we managed attrition a lot better than I expected. You're only just started on the Valley of Veiled Flame, so it shouldn't be too hard to get another GM to pick up from here. Good luck everyone.

![]() |

@GM, sorry to hear that, but I understand. Best of luck with everything.
@All - I would be willing to take over as GM, if we can find another player or two. Would that work? If Fez can turn the game over to me (I am not sure of that process) I can do a Recruitment. Alternatively, we just run with a pregen.

![]() |

Ah Fez, sorry to see you go. This has been a great group. Happy we got as far as we have. I was really looking forward to reaching that Mystic Thurge.
Still, I understand about making the family a priority.

![]() |

Thank you Fez for running this as long as you have. Take care and I hope to see you in the future.
I am fine with you taking over as GM Kavor and would love to see this one to the end.

![]() |

I think it would be fairly easy to find a new player, or we could run a pregen.
Morka and Fethril, would you be okay with me taking over as GM?

![]() |

Okay, I will get the scenario, read through it, and get it running. May take a couple of days.
Preference for pregen vs recruitment?

![]() |

Sweet. We will definitely need the muscle. I knew the Mystic Thurge build was going to be a challenge, especially in CORE, but Fethril is really under powered for his level. Not a great healer and not a great buffer or summoner. Makes me wonder why I wanted to go this route again.
Long story short, the more help, the better.

GM Aldizog |

Switching to my GM alias...
Out-of-combat healing of HP damage is pretty easy in PFS due to abundant wands of CLW, so I wouldn't worry too much about Fethril's healing ability, though status removal can be a challenge (scrolls help there).
If you would rather have more players, then I would definitely recommend 6 rather than 5. So it's really a choice between four players (low tier, 4-player adjustment) and six (low tier, no adjustment). Personally, I think 4 would keep things moving better, but if you want to go to 6, we can do that.

dotting in! Are we joining in the middle of the action and will you be introducing us in gameplay?
