Ok, so testing this out. Tomas Darke, Fetchling Dusk Knight(Paladin)/Ninja hybrid (dhampir didn't work for me). Writing up the background, but wanted to check with the GM, am I doing this right in terms of stats and bonuses and stuff? I mean, I like having a +12 to hit (+20 to smite), just want to make sure that's correct

One correction here--the two +2's of your choice should be in place of (not in addition to) the normal ability score adjustments for a dwarf.

I see! Thanks for catching that. I’ll likely put it into Str and Fighting then. Will update soon.

I'm excited to see who makes the roster! Many, many great character ideas!

So, what happens to the Mythic versions of feats that have been removed by the Elephant in the Room feat tax rules? For example, does Mythic Deadly Aim still exist? If not, do we treat it as a combat option available to any mythic creature?

The Pug's background is made in the '10-Minute Backgroud' format. Maybe you wanted something more narrative, but I had to do this to fix my ideas, which kept flying from superb things to just meh. I'd encourage you to have a quick read, there's everything there - how it came to be, what he does, how he does, etc. If you still feel you need a narrative, let me know (thou it'll take me a bit longer)

Meanwhile, I'll put my hands on the crush.

@Kazador

Awesome idea! I like the stone dwarf approach. To answer your question: for the purposes of all feats, your BaB is treated as being equal to your character level. Iterative attacks will come at the level your normally would get them as a high BaB class.

@Tomas

While I haven't studied your crunch yet, having a +12 to attack sound about right for what I'd anticipated so no worries there.

@Idiot Cube

You can still take Mythic versions of feats removed or altered by Elephant in the Room. They just affect that combat choice (like in the case of fears like Power Attack or Deadly Aim) or a specific portion of a feat that the new feat rules have consolidated (like in the case of Improved Grapple or Improved Trip)

@Jereru

You are definitely free to deliver the backstory in any way you wish if you're confident the information is all there, no worries.

@All

I'm loving everything that's come together. As it is the weekend, I haven't had the chance to do the deep reading necessary for every submission thus far. I should have time tonight to check for any mechanical/narrative discrepancies. I'm loving the concepts so far though! Great work, everyone.

I just realized I hadn't put down any equipment other then clothes and a pack.
Also, is it too late to move a skill point? I wanted to drop the point in diplomacy and put it into craft, alchemy. It seemed more fitting given her dip into healing abilities and I would imagine it would have been a part of her training.

Glad you like it! I think I’ve got the stats fixed. At lvl1 he has AC29, 17HP, DR6, has +15 Hit and does 2d6+15 damage. He’ll be going down the Dwarven Hatred Combat Style line.

If I’ve got anything wrong, please tell me.

And here's Goofygeek's "Speedster" submission, though admittedly he's actually not that fast in terms of movement speed. That said, there are some cool abilities in the Guardian Mythic Path, as well as a few other things I'm looking at, that will make his speed more apparent in what he does than in actual pure movement speed.

Deviated away from the investigator angle for the Kineticist, more lightning-esque, thought it would be more interesting to go with a less serious, young, "wants-to-be-a-hero" kind of guy. He's kinda like Spider-Man in terms of personality and gumption.

And yes, I'm fully aware of how ridiculous it is I based his backstory on Frankenstein. But once I started and realized what I'd gotten too similar to, I couldn't resist going all in on it.

Tomas is mostly done. Few tweaks left. For mythic, he will go either marshal or trickster (either can work).

Decided to go unarmed. Why?

(1) Make use out of his +4 Monk Level
(2) The image of his hand turning into a stone spiked fist is awesome
(3) Frees up Feats for improved grapple and improved disarm, which sounds fun. Makes use of his insane CMB too.
(4) He is very low wealth. His fists will become magical at lvl3, and eventually cold iron and silver. Important for DR reduction.

Alright, here we go! This is OllieTwist's Summoner/Bard, and hopefully I've understood all the homebrew stuff properly, please let me know if anything seems off! Also, I am so sorry in advance for how completely this backstory got away from me, it's much longer than I intended for it to be. If you want a TL;DR bulletpoint version of it, I'll be happy to do that, I just apparently decided to write a whole novel.

I'm still looking at Mythic paths, so I'm not 100% on which one I want to go with, but it'll most likely be Trickster.

I'm really liking what I'm seeing of everyone else's character ideas so far, can't wait to see what the final roster winds up looking like.

Because my brain tells me there is more backstory to write, here we go. I am going to post both parts together for ease of location:

Backstory:

Henry Lassings was born the son of wealth and privilege. While his parents were not nobility, both had incredibly potent magical abilities. His mother served as an archmage in Nex for a time, before she grew tired of the politics of a country run by diviners, and his father was a renowned explorer and member of the Pathfinder Society.

For his part, Henry grew up rick and rather famous, which means he didn't really do anything and didn't bother applying himself to anything he tried. His complete lack of magical talent turned out to be a great waste of money on his parent's part, as they brought in tutors from all of the great magical traditions, certain that he would awaken to his ability one day.

Henry tried hard as a boy, but as he became a young man his continual failures to meet his parents' expectations turned him to a life of idle pleasure, and he wasted his life with wenching and drink.

His life took a turn for the weird when he received the package at his doorstep one morning: His first name written plainly on the outside of the box in his father's handwriting.

Prying the crate open, he discovered an armored gauntlet which appeared to be made entirely of obsidian. Picking it up proved to be his undoing. There was a flash of light, and when his vision returned, the Spiked Gauntlet had wrapped itself around his left hand and forearm. Henry spent the better part of the morning trying to break it, burn it, or rip it off, all to no avail.

His attempts would likely have continued through the night were it not for the cloaked and robed figures who crashed through the picture window of his townhouse.

In a panic, Henry swung his fist at one of the attackers, and runes began to glow in the color of magic. When the fist hit his attacker, the assassin exploded into powder.

The remaining assassins looked to each other and dove out the window, clearly unsure about what to do about this new threat that Henry represented.

Pulling clothes on, Henry made his way to his parent's home, arriving just in time to see the fire brigade arrive to put it out. Shortly thereafter, his parent's bodies were found and Henry was now more certain than ever that his parents had been killed by the same people who tried to kill him, likely for the gauntlet he now wore.

Leaving Oppara, Henry found a note in his jacket pocket he knew wasn't there before. An odd map, that seemed to lead to Absalom. Boarding a ship, Henry left his homeland behind looking for answers, or perhaps a way to remove this artifact that had attached itself to him.

Backstory, Part 2:

It wasn't long after Henry's ship set sail from Oppara that the lookout spotted another ship on the horizon. As the lookout identified it's colors, a cry went up among the crew: it was one of the ships of the fleet of Besmara, the pirate god!

The captain of Henry's chartered ship, the Swift Wing poured everything his ship had into speed, as his men began throwing the easily movable crates off the side of the ship to help lighten the load.

It was not enough, however.

As the Besmaran ship pulled alongside, all could see it's name, painted in gold to offset the varnished black paint of the wood itself. The Juggernaut. It was a name well-known to the crew, a ship where no prisoners were ever taken. Knowing this would be a fight to the death, the crew drew both blades and pistols and prepared to repel boarders.

The first beings to swing across the and onto the Swift Wing were actually Gillmen, those long-debased descendants of the Azlanti. Next came the Sahaugin, many of whom had four arms.

The captain was the last to board; a fiery-haired Human woman with eyes that matched the color of her hair.

None that crossed swords with her were long for the world. She and her crew quickly swept the deck. She started to make her way downstairs when Henry stepped out of the stairway to the cabin.

What happened next changes based on who is telling the story, but what most viewers agree on is that at one point during their fight, Henry grabbed the blade of her main sword and snapped it with his gauntlet. While the stories that he then threw her back onto her ship are a bit unbelievable, it's entirely likely that he fought her back across the gangplank.

Disheartened at having her favorite sword broken, she ordered her crew to retreat, much to the cheers of the survivors.

Rallying the remaining crew and passengers alike, Henry used what little nautical knowledge he had to eventually lead the ship into port. Wishing the others well, he collected his meager belongings and made his way into the streets of Absalom, following the odd map he had found.

Here's Idiot Cube's submission. I still have some work to do, as you can see. I'm imagining him as a travelling priest who protects the weak and encourages them to become stronger. His powers were gifted to him by his deity, Irori, who perhaps saw potential in him as a herald.

Be careful with a zen archer Inquisitor. Using Ki is a swift action and so is using bane. You also can’t use rapid shot or many shot with flurry of blows. That really hurts with mythic.

Yeah, good point. It'll also be hard to keep up with damage, since I can't buy an Adaptive bow.

Bear with me while I work on a new idea that's more Strength and melee-focused.

I’ve had great success with a sniper slayer / sanctified slayer inquisitor

Step 1 Traits: Heritage Weapon Orc Hornbow (2d6 damage bow) and Fate’s Favored
Step 2: Slayer lets you sneak attack over 30ft, and adds level to sneak attack damage

I’ve got in a different campaign this combo. Lvl6 gestalt just got mythic. He has Str14 Dex17. Nothing to write home about.

Normally with rapid shot it is: +9/+9/+4 to Hit, with 2d6+2 damage. Mediocre at lvl6, right? Well...these are the modifiers.

Point Blank Shot: +1 Hit and +1 Damage
* Studied Target: +2 Hit +2 Damage
* Divine Favor: +3 Hit +3 Damage
* Bane: +2 Hit +2 Damage +2d6 damage
* Sneak Attack: +2d6 (+6 ranged)
* Coordinated Shot (If your ally with this feat is threatening an opponent and is not providing cover to that opponent against your ranged attacks, you gain a +1 bonus on ranged attacks against that opponent. If your ally with this feat is flanking that opponent with another ally (even if that other ally doesn’t have this feat), this bonus increases to +2.)

——

If you can start hidden or invisible, and take a turn to study target/cast divine favor, your shot ends up like this, with everything but point blank:

To Hit: +16 (hits twice) / +16 (hits twice) / +11
Damage: 6d6+15 (each hit)

That’s wirh the first mythic feat being mythic manyshot. It feels like your character has a rifle instead of a bow.

Alright, my people. Here's the roster I have so far. As always, please feel free to let me know if I've missed you. I sometimes forget to write stuff down.

-Caleb Zephorn Caliean, son of Cauden Caliean (Mighty Godling/Eldritch Godling)
-Colt Warwick (Brawler/Sorcerer)
-Klwyn the White (Wizard/Arcanist)
-Braeden Padgett (Bloodrager/Druid)
-Kazador the Clanless (Cleric/Monk)
-The Pug (Missing Crunch)
-Lucca Leander (Monk/Kineticist)
-Tomas Darke (Paladin/Ninja)
-The Unnamed Siren (Summoner/Bard)
-Henry Lassings (Occultist/Rogue)

Additionally, I've read all of your backgrounds (a pre-req to appear on the above list) but only a brief skim of crunch since that's less important at the moment (I'll really comb through those selected but, for now, a basic overview).

Below, I am answering any questions not yet answered and asking any I have about your backstory. If I don't mention you, you're good!

@Caleb Caliean

Your max load at 20 strength should be 102,400 lbs unless something is doubling it.

@Klwyn the White
I like the Alice in Wonderland vibe I'm getting. Just a few questions; what was being taught by the man like, who was he (or would you like to leave that to me?) and what has she been doing since?

@Braeden Padgett

Was he super at all before his dream or did it all come after? Also, why was he granted the power? Or are you leaving that to me?

@Kazador the Clanless

Does Kazador know he was brought back by Torag or does he assume that's why but it's still a mystery?

@Tomas Darke

I noticed none of your physical abilities are above 14. Are you going with the hypertrained human route? If so, what is the source of your supernatural class abilities? If not, what is the source of your power as a whole? Is it the blessing you mentioned?

@Henry Lassings

Magic is basically totally off-limits to non-supers in this game--when you mentioned your parents finding magic tutors for Henry, did they attempt to hire supers?

@All

One little detail I'd like for everyone to add to their story is /how/ they got the mysterious paper leading them to the city at the center of the world. It could have been handed down by family, found and purchased in a shop somewhere, etc. Completely up to you. I'd just like to know how you got it.

@Kazador the Clanless

Does Kazador know he was brought back by Torag or does he assume that's why but it's still a mystery?

——

He assumes...with strong evidence. While he was always religious, he did not have clerical powers. That, with his new body and enhanced stats, came after death.

@All

—-

Found among the wreckage of his former clan home. While picking through the ruins, looking for any trace of survivors, he’d have found it, carved into a stone tablet written in Dwarven. He’d take it as being a sign from the gods as to what he must do.

@GM:

Re:Tomas Darke Q&A:
Yes, Tomas has kind of a Batman/League of Assassins vibe about him. It's not a direct parallel (Batman is way smarter and richer). He's in peak physical condition (hypertrained "human"). His devotion and his link to his deity (Kalinahat's symbol is a bat btw, so he'll probably have some bat flavored gear at some point) gives him that extra oomph, reflected in his high CHA and Fight. I envision him as a "chosen one" of his temple. There are many impressive devotees there, but he has an extra boost from the deity's favor. Does that make sense? I had thought about throwing some more tragedy into his backstory, maybe the monastery burned down by agents of Norberger or something, but I thought I'd just go simple for the moment. I can add more though if it's helpful.

Thanks for clarification.

Sounds great you guys!

And;

@Kazador the Clanless

Cool, there's a little room for interpretation there. Does Torag ever communicate with Kazador? Does Kazador know why he was brought back with demi-godlike power? (Sorry if you included this in your story and I'm asking a redundant question, I'm just trying to get everyone's origin straight in my head and there's a lot of material here).

@Tomas Darke

Works perfectly for me. That's part of what prompted the question. Your stats are very much what I would think Batman's would be except I'd swap your Charisma and Intelligence with his and make him significantly wealthier. I also think a divine blessing is enough to explain what supernatural abilities Tomas would have. I just wanted to make sure I was understanding correctly. Does Tomas know why he was blessed or is that a mystery to him?

Edit: Oh, and also the mysterious paper. How did Tomas obtain it?

Grand Lodge

dotting...dont know how i missed this last time i checked revruitment...

I know I included how Lucca found his paper in my original backstory, was that with, or would you like something more substantial?

Also, there was mention of posting the closing date later, when are you calling recruitment, any idea?

@Lucca Leander

Nope! What you included was great. Sorry, it was easier to address everyone than the individuals who didn't include it.

As far as recruitment closing, I'm kinda leaving it up to how this week goes. I know there are a handful still working on characters and I'd like to give a few more people a chance to see the thread and see what they can come up with. At the earliest, it will be this weekend. At the latest, late next week. In any case, I'll name a definite time no less than 48 hours before that time.

I think The Pug is finished.

Good question: the short form answer is hey did. They talked to anyone they knew who had knowledge of magic (even if it was just theoretical and not practical). They talked to shaman, medicine men, and clerics, and so on.

I tinkered with Caleb's feats, replacing most of the godling feats for progressive combat feats toward drunken fighting and improvised weapons, being more true to his overall theme.

——

He doesn’t know. All he knows is that it happened and that he found the tablet. From there it is all conjecture.

That said, at lvl 3 he will get a familiar...an Ioun Wyrd. It will be able to communicate him, and by my plan it would be a direct link to Torag. Or wherever we decide his powers originate from. ;) I'd imagine that the little floating bugger would be subject to GM take-over if the situation/plot demanded it.

-----

Also, I have found that I have to go to some national guard mandatory fun in June. From the 3rd to the 23rd I’ll have limited internet connectivity. While I’ll finally learn how to use an m249 light machine gun...it’ll limit my posting. If this makes me ineligible for the campaign, no hard feelings.

Tomas Q&A:
Tomas has no idea about why he was blessed. I was actually thinking about it having something to do with him being a fetchling. Like either his parents weren't but it came out of his bloodline, or maybe his parents were told while he was in utero what had to be done with him when he was born by some religious officials or something like that. I'm open if you;d like to help me flesh it out some.
Umm, I'm not sure what you mean about the mysterious paper thing. Might that be on someone else's character?

@Vrog Skyweaver

Ah, all sorts of people. It just might be interesting if you have some distant ties in your history with other supers.

@Kazador the Clanless

I like that. Not often I have a reason to roleplay a God. Haha

Also, no worries about your National Guard duties (probably). I would like one post per weekday. If you think you can do that most days, we're in business. I'm definitely understanding if something comes up for people and it prevents them from posting for a day and stuff like that.

@RobL8675309

The paper is a request i made of everyone. The entire party will begin with a mysterious paper that is blank with small Xs on it. If you move around, it changes the relative position of the Xs and they seem to converge on Absalom. I would just like to know how everyone got their paper.

Tomas Q&A:
well duh, I'm a space cadet apparently.
I like the idea of him waking up to find it stuck to his chest. It takes him a moment (after the paranoia of "who the hell snuck up on me?!") to figure out how it works and direct himself to Absalom

Had an idea. Kazador keeps the holy tablet, and at lvl3 it becomes the ioun wyrd. It floats around, and communicates by changing what is written on it.

I’d also ask...since Ioun Wyrds are supposed to have an Ioun Stone within them that they share with the PC, that this one would have a Gold Nodule Ioun Stone. All this means is that both the familiar and Kazador would be able speak and understand Celestial. Which is just cool thematically. To have a floating tablet which has a mixture of Dwarven and Celestial writing appear on it, as GM plot is needed.

further down the rabbit hole:

“Again” The voice was encouraging, yet stern.
“Yes, Elder Dresden.” The young woman said as she attempt once again to clear her mind and focus. After a deep breath she reassumed her stance, her shortspear held ready. Melee was never her strong point in the last decade she had been a student of the Archmage Dresden.
“Remember, you won’t always have magic available to you.”
“Yes, El-“
The Archmage’s staff flashed as he advanced suddenly. Within a handful of strikes and parries Kiwyn, was on her tail again. The older man shook his head and sighed, offering a hand to his pupil.
“You are distracted child.” He said sagely. “You hide something and it bothers you.”
The young kitsune rubbed at her sores and winced at the knowing tone of her master. Getting to her feet with help from her master Kiwyn flushed under her fur.
“There might be something, Elder Dresden.” She admitted, her hands gripping the shaft of her weapon nervously.
The older man waited patiently as the younger mage collected her thoughts. After a long moment of silent hang in the room Kiwyn exhaled, breaking the silence. “Something happened last week.” She said meekly and paused.
“Go on.” The older man encouraged.
Kiwyn licked her lips and continued. “Well… that is…” She sighed. “I just, I don’t know how it happened.” Then added quickly. “I wasn’t trying anything forbidden.”
The old mage just nodded sagely.
She licked her lips and took a deep breath. On the exhale the air round her shimmered, revealing what was hidden.
“I see.”
The older man said quietly as he took in the two tails now swaying nervously. Kiwyn had readied herself for yelling and accusations, what she hadn’t expected was the calm exceptance.
“Elder?” She asked cautiously as the older man turned and headed towards an adjoining room. She followed him into the study and washed as he set aside his staff. and ran his hand across a bookshelf. Stopping his hand he withdrew an old tome and carried it to a table. Opening it he beckon the young kitsune to him and she obeyed.
“I have suspect as much in the last few years. Your talent has grown swiftly, coming to you with a natural ease I have seen in few others.” seeming to find the page he sought, he turned the book to her and she looked down at it.
“The nine-tailed fox.” She read softly and looked up at her master unsurely. “But they are only a myth.”
He smiled in a fatherly manner. “I have heard rumors in my long travels, but I had never actually seen more then four tails. You though, I believe you may just have the potential with in you to achieve the impossible.”
Kiwyn stared at her master dumbfounded. “You, you can’t truly believe that, Elder.”
“I do.” He replied calmly and placed a hand on her shoulder. “As a also believe it is time you expanded you lessons.”
The young girl frowned. “More lessons Elder. But already spend all the time I can here. Others already question my actions and try to follow me. If I spend more time here they will surely demand answers I’m not permitted to give.”
The older man chuckled and squeezed her shoulder reassuringly. “Fear not my child. I am not asking you to come to me more then you do. I am saying it is time you began your own journey.”
Kiwyn looked shocked. “Elder…, you can mean…”
“Yes, child. It is time you left the forest and experienced the world for yourself. You have an incredible gift. You can learn so much and in doing so, help so many.”
“But…, but I have never even left the woods”
“No buts, child. As your teacher, this is the test I put to you. I know you have the strength to do this.” His look softened and he took some pity on her. “Go home now and sleep on what I have said. The morning brings with it new beginnings.”

****

The memory faded as dreams often do as the morning rays peeking through the crack in the curtains.
With a yawn and a stretch Kiwyn slid from inn’s bed. it had been nearly a year since she had made the decision to follow her master’s advice. It had been a bumpy start. She had encountered a few bandits, a few unfriendly creatures, and a con man or two. But she had found her way through them all to varying degrees of success. But they where out weight by the number of smiles she had received from the help she was able to provide. She smiled to herself at the thought.
The room was small, but not uncomfortable. Pulling a brush from her pack she began to carefully brush out her hair and then the fur of her tails.
Standing up she regarded herself in the rooms small mirror and sighed as she swished her tails. “It is a shame no on gets to truly appreciate them.”
With a passing thought the air around Kiwyn shimmered and where once the fox maiden stood there now stood a young human looking lady with long blonde hair and exotic features. She moved to dress and ready for breakfast with the caravaners she had been traveling with for the last few nights, checking herself again in the mirror once dressed. She smiled in satisfaction, frowning for a moment as her thoughts drifted home for a moment. She never had to hide herself back home, but her master had warned her that some may not take easily to the children of the forest.
Although she had met more the a few who did accept her for what she was, which made her happy. She liked helping people.
Kiwyn glanced at her pack and thought about the mysterious paper that had seemed to just appear out of nowhere. It was little more than a crude map of lines and x’s pointing toward the city of Absalom. She lucked out with the caravan, they were nice people. Kind and hard working, but able to relax and enjoy themselves. She had been able to work for her passage as a healer using her knowledge of nature and alchemy, using magic discreetly if needed.
Downstairs, Kiwyn smiled to the others as she made her way through the crowded dining hall of the tavern.
“Over here little one.” Old man Corvus who ran headed the caravan waved her over with a smile. He was a grandfatherly type she liked hearing traveling tales from. She greeted him with a smile and a grandduaghterly peck on the cheek that he chuckled at.
“How did you sleep gramps.” She asked, joining the table.
“Fine, fine.” He said with a smile. “Eat up now, you’re too small. You’ll never find a young man if you put on some weight.”
“Gramps.” She chuckled as the others did the same. “I’m not looking for a man right now. I have a world to see.”
Corvus gave her a broad smile. “Well you’ll soon be seeing the city at the center world.”
“Absalom.” Kiwyn said with a smile.

Sorry, I think I went a little overboard again.

Kiwyn:

House rule: +2 Int, +2 Con
-2 Str, +2 Dex, +2 Cha

I made the same mistake at fkrst. You can replace the + with a different +2.

So, for example. A dwarf gets +2 Con/Wis and -2 Cha
I switched it to +2 Str and +2 Fighting with -2 Cha

I see, thank you for pointing that out. I'll fix it now.

I'll edit this in to the background on her profile in a sec, but Siren's map wound up in her possession shortly after she arrived on dry land, as she was trying to get her supplies. One of the things she bought was a journal, wanting somewhere to write the things she learned on land, and found the map tucked between the pages.

You know, I'm surprised that there aren't more vigilantes.

Also, GM, how do you feel about automatic bonus progression? To me, at least, it feels more 'superhero' to be strong because it is who you are, not because you are a pathfinder magic item christmas tree.

It's funny, I was so focused on being the flash, I almost forgot about the class. I did look at it briefly when looking at a brute/Barbarian combo, but I don't like some of the changes with the unchained barb, plus I love speedsters lol.

Plus, part of the appeal of vigilantes is being basically 2 classes at once. Gestalt lite lol. Though if multiple submissions are allowed, a bloodrager/brute would be made and submitted within 24 hours lol.

Single submission though, yes?

Made a slight change to Kazador. As he is resurrected, he now has:

Barrow Scholar: Dwarves with this racial trait gain a +2 racial bonus on Knowledge (religion) checks to identify undead and can attempt them untrained. This racial trait replaces stonecunning

and

Barrow Warden: Dwarves with this racial trait gain a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to their AC against undead. This racial trait replaces defensive training and hatred.

and

Shadowhunter (2 RP): Characters with this trait deal 50% weapon damage to incorporeal creatures when using non-magical weapons (including natural and unarmed attacks), as if using magic weapons. They also gain a +2 bonus on saving throws to remove negative levels, and recover physical ability damage from attacks by undead creatures at a rate of 2 points per ability score per day (rather than the normal 1 point per ability score per day). Dwarves can take this trait in place of weapon familiarity

So...Kazador can now punch ghosts, and gets +1 damage/+1 AC vs undead.

Thought it was fun, so had to share. :)

@Braeden Padgett

Was he super at all before his dream or did it all come after? Also, why was he granted the power? Or are you leaving that to me?

Sorry for not getting this up last night, I didn't make it home until midnight my time and just passed out. Busy day.

Question 1: Well, I may have hinted at some of Braeden's ancestry; his mother was definetly crazy, but that doesn't mean she was lying, necessarily. The way I had imagined it, she really was punished by the Queen of Air and Darkness for "seducing" her son No such thing, it was mutual, which does make Braeden the grandson of one of the more powerful Fey Queens in out there. SO, yes, a little bit super, but not noticably- maybe just slightly better than everyone else (In my mind, a small healing factor and rage, his basic Lvl 1 Bloodrager abilities, minus the Abyssal taint). Just enough power to help him win a contest amongst thousands of Athari warriors to receive their blessing.

Question 2: Well..... that's a long, complicated story. Ostensibly, to "save the Athari". Which, is important, because the wild places are shrinking, according to Reshi, and he was to become the instrument that would help the wild lands regrow; and because the Athari had been attacked by outside forces more than normal (remember the Dark Elves? They weren't the only ones); but remember, Braeden (unintentionally) chose the Evil God of the Athari as his patron, not the Good- Aligned God. So, he's probably got some nefarious plan up his sleeve, though that's to be determined. As is the exact definition of "save the Athari". I certainly have ideas, yes, but I don't want to step on your toes, DM; so feel free to make stuff up, or if you want my input, we can work together on it.

I hope that answers all of your questions! If not, let me know and I usually check every night!

For the record, it does now occur to me that choosing the evil god may come off wrong, but I do like playing characters with internal conflict and struggles. I promise, he's not evil, and I don't plan of him making evil decisions or slowly descending into evil; but if that's unacceptable, I can edit that part of the story. Just, well, like I said, I like characters with internal struggles.

Origin Story:

Kendis Filzenthrarson, a.k.a Deathless, (Yes Filzenthrarson. No joke. His mother insisted. His mother, who deeply loved his father….I am getting side tracked. I’ll continue..) has had a pretty rough go of it all. Actually "rough go" really doesn’t do it justice. His life has been complete ****. (Yeah I censored. You may ask why intentionally censor if I could just pick another word and not waste all this time? One, stop asking questions and just let me tell this story and two, because such a word begins to explain the magnitude of what I speak. Where was I? Ah yes, I was getting to..) His father was the root of Kendis’ troubles in life. His father, (Guess what his name was…yup, you guessed it...) Filzenthrar, was an alchemist, an objectively good one at that. (Now, to be clear my use of “good” in this instance does not refer to his morality, but his skill, because moralistically speaking..) Filzenthrar was also evil as ****. Up until Kendis was 5ish he basically lived with his mother who loved him and his father more deeply than ever thought possible (But this is not a love story, so don’t get your hopes up!). On that 5ish years old day, Kendis was playing outside by himself, entertaining himself (As no one would play with an evil alchemist’s son. But seriously, I know some of you would say, “I’d play with him!” No you wouldn’t his dad is insane! And evil! Get off your high horse!..anyway..) as he usually did when he went to go find his mother. She wasn’t where she normally was in the house so he searched all over. She wasn’t anywhere to be found. Then he looked at his father’s lab at the top of the hill they lived on. The lights were on and a lot of lights could be seen, maybe his mom had gone there. (Let’s pause a moment. Did anyone think, “What?! His lab is on the top of the hill and the family home was at the bottom? There could be floods or something!” Yup! I dun told you he was evil) His mother had told him never to bother his father in there. (Actually, he was specifically told not to ever go in there) So (of course) he went in there. There were terrible smells, beakers, vials, tables, so many things. Before he saw much however, he heard a couple footsteps, a “Perfect, just what I needed.”, and immediately blacked out.

He finally awoke to the jolt of being carried over a shoulder as it seemed he was exiting the lab. He quickly looked back to see his father dead on the floor with several big gashes and a few burn marks. The lab was all messed up, and on fire. And a person sized mound of what looked like red meat on a table (Yep, that’s all your gonna get. You’re welcome). Looking at his captors he saw people he had only heard about in stories. These were adventurers! But they had killed his father! And, speaking of..where was his mother? So he asked. His question was not followed up by silence, per’se, just several rounds of wrenching. Maybe they were sick? Kendis got sick sometimes and it caused him to throw up. They must be sick. And one of them would cry whenever they looked at him. She wore some cloth robes that had the same symbol scattered everywhere on it. Kendis thought it looked silly but eh..They never did answer his question about his mother, quite adamantly actually. But they took him with them wherever they travelled. (I’mma stop here because there is so much more to tell, but I’ll leave that for another time…like maybe if I’m chosen….nudge nudge….but seriously pick me…seriously..)

Personality:

A little continuation to the backstory…

Kendis was told what had happened eventually and as such lost all faith in…well anything really. He gave a metaphorical middle finger to the gods, his father, and that adventuring party (Because apparently a simple casting of confusion is a TPK. Thanks fighter and barbarian!) Anywho, After that he pretty much just went into business for himself. He’d take quests that were intended for full groups and succeed easily. Apparently he just couldn’t die, weird huh? Oh and many tried, fret not.

So his personality is, as you’d expect of a person who gave a finger to all and thinks he can’t die. That being said, he has a great wit and a….’good?’ , albeit dark, sense of humor. Truly a great balance to a team full of “do good-ery, goody two-shoes wearing, justicy justicers”. (So you should definitely pick me….but seriously..)

Appearance:

Honestly he not really a looker or anything. For one as extraordinary as he is, Kendis is pretty average looking. He wears pretty average clothes. I mean, when you get cut up, blown up, skewered, as much as he does, it’s best not to invest too much into nice clothes. (It gets real expensive real quick)

5’10
170 lbs
Dark Brown hair
Blue eyes
Lean

He will be taking the Mythic Trickster Path. (It will make sense eventually)

The paper:

Deathless received ‘the paper’ next to his bed. So he awoke to it. Figuring it was some really weird dude (Yeah, he’s worked for some really weird people in the past), he thought it another quest, so off he goes..

Anything else:

After writing the backstory and creating the personality, I am very eager to play this character as I think it would be fun and also think that it would be an amazingly comedic addition. That being said, I know where ‘too far’ is and I will not go there. My goal whenever playing with others is to assure their fun and then worry about my own. So……seriously pick me…seriously..

:)

Alright, everyone! Going to do a little more reading on the updates I've gotten from you guys and recompile the roster. Things have slowed down a lot and the weekend approaches. So...

Recruitment will close at 12:00 AM Sunday night EST (that's 4:00 AM Monday morning UTC). All submissions must be in by that time.

Remember that crunch isn't a big deal. As long as you have your classes figured out as well as how you're going to flavor your super powers, we're good. I'll go through the characters selected with a fine toothed comb at that time. If you're pressed for time, focus on your origin story/personality/etc.

I included a small rp blurb on how Caleb found his strange map on his character profile. Otherwise, I feel Caleb Caliean is 100% ready for review. Good luck to all entries!
