Ended up going musetouched Aasimar, Decius Valo

Given some of the other peoples questions and how much stuff is allowed, can we use the weapon creation rules from weapons master guide? might help people out with the flavour of there character, without using a feat up on proficency?

Also seems appropriate, New Information About King Tuts Tomb

My Rolls (Here kept giving me 1s and 2s)

16, 16, 16, 17, 17, 14
With Aasimar thats 18, 18, 17, 17, 16, 16

Most of the Egyptian specific weapons like the khopesh, slings, etc are already in existence. What would you want to make up as a weapon?

I'll have the background up in the next couple hours. The basic story is that he's an orphan adopted by a priest of Nethys who brought him up with a rigorous academic and magical background. He went off to a mage academy and, after graduating, got a job as a teacher in the academy. The problem is that his lectures are EXTREMELY dull and dry, so he is on a forced indefinite sabbatical trying to pick up some life experience to liven up his lessons. He'll focus on Enchantment and buffs, with the flavor being that a lot of his magic has to do with his dull lecturing tone (e.g., puts enemies to sleep by lecturing them about ancient Osirian architecture). Could be a fun build that plays well with others. I'm also looking at multi-classing into Occultist (Tome Eater) to give some more range to his abilities.

I was mostly referring to Oyzar and Zayne Iwatani's comments about heirloom weapon and or taking a trait for proficiency. Using the weapon creation rules you could probably make a weapon that fits your characters proficencies/concept without paying a feat tax. Would still have to use a feat to gain proficency with existing weapons like a Khopesh, which seems weird if your character has martial proficency and is from osirion.

I keep forgetting to just pick a weapon that fits mechanically and just fluff the look into something like what I want. I picked the fauchard because it is one of my favorite weapons from darksouls, the black knight halberd (halberd is used in error based on the look in game). I could just as easily choose the halberd and not use heirloom weapon but the high crit is a lovely bonus.

The fauchard is an awesome weapon. I'm surprised that there are at least two builds based around polearms, since almost every character I have seen made is either sword and board, two swords, or greataxe/greatsword. Or an archer/ type, but that's due to my friend always playing elves. Frigging elf supremacist...

Roycilo's Psychic submission is almost complete. I chose to go with human, even though they are a lot less flavorful than the Samsaran. I felt I was better able to tie the character to Osiran making him a human.

Secondly, thanks so much to Ariarh for putting together that list!

And lastly, here is my roll for the starting wealth:
Starting Gold Piece Roll: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6
So multiplied by ten that is 60 gp. A little less than average, but not to worry. I will be good to go in a couple of hours.

Alright! Background and most of my crunch is done here. Just need to finish spending my money. Let me know if you have any questions for me about the background or anything like that.

Fauchard is indeed an awesome weapon. I had a though time deciding if I should go for that or weapon and shield.

While Will and Lionora are somewhat similar in concept, I think they could also work great in the same party, protecting each other and the rest of the party.

I'll finish up the rest of Lionora's background shortly, hopefully today.

Fauchard for shure. It is a sweet weapon, but I dont think you can even make a Fauchard with the weapon creation rules. On the other hand you can make a better maul then either dwarven long hammer or lucerne hammer and keep it martial so there not exactly the most well thought out rules.

The khopesh isn't a bad weapon either. It's a longsword with trip, essentially, statwise. Back in the olden days, they used to do 1d4+1/1d6+1.

For me, I've had a thing for the movie "300" for a while now...so I have wanted to do a Spear and Shield specialist guy ever since I saw it! Just never had the time to try until now.

For my short melee weapon however, I went with the Kopesh for the game flavor...even spent the Exotic Weapon proficiency for it! I also heard in a previous Mummy's Mask PBP recruitment that there are lot of magical Kopesh in the AP, so I thought I'd get a head start...just in case its true.

Wont be able to finish my character until Wed, still need to figure out how you guys make your character profiles look like that. Making a character on myth-weaver and transferring it over but it will take time, still have to go to work today and tomorrow but I am very interested in giving this a shot.

Here is Roycilo's submission. I didn't want to submit it until it was polished. Other than a few small tweaks along the lines of shopping, he's done. I will probably be adding to his backstory further as time goes on.

A little bit about Shaf:

Spoiler:

Shaf-men-Kep, or Shaf for short, has always been fascinated by his country's history. Feeling drawn to the ruins and legends, he often says he was born in the wrong era. He has dedicated his life to understanding the history of his people, and has even made a career of it. He teaches classes to adventurers who come to explore, and has recently decided that he needs to branch out into exploration himself. He feels his unique education will make him a valuable resource for any group, and he is a very skilled companion.

There is more backstory, along with a physical description in the alias.

He is a Psychic, and uses his magics to help with his own versatility. He will bring a focus on history and Osiran lore, as well as having access to magic. I intentionally didn't buy much of the recommended gear from the player's guide, to represent his lack of practical dungeoneering knowledge. He's very educated, but hasn't been into the tombs himself. That's also why he no ranks in Knowledge: Dungeoneering yet.

With the release of the PoW expansion, I've got a Mystic on the brain. I'll see if I can put something together.

I'll throw my hat into this ring, going for my first online campaign. I'm hoping to be a Lizardfolk fighter. I want to go tanky build, defending my team with my shield and from range attacks with my axe using the feats Cut from the Air and Smash from the Air. If I can't do Lizardfolk, maybe a Gnoll or just a standard human if left with neither. Let me know, and I shall defend you all with my Strength :3.

Here's my submission, Sathek Osan!

Backstory:
Having grown up in the marketplace, Sathek is used to catching people’s attention. At a young age he learned the importance of selling himself, first gaining the trust of wealthy travelers needing a guide through the city, then proving his worth as a barge worker on the river. Working to help support his parents, elderly scribes, who were alienated from their guild due to their continuing belief in the old gods, Sathek always needed every chance he could find to get ahead.
During his work as a barge worker, he noticed that small fish would flock near his barge, sometimes the larger ones even helping to push the boat along. When he came of age, he found himself cornered by a gang of young men, and as he fled into an alley, a figure appeared to aid him. This wolf-headed man, glowing with a golden light, held off his attackers while he climbed over a nearby wall, then disappeared. Later, with concentration, he was able to make the figure reappear, and speak to him. He came to believe that the creature was a messenger from the old gods, meant to affirm his beliefs in their pantheon.
He began to look for ways to prove himself, and to help spread the old faith. After hearing of an opportunity to explore ancient tombs, and potentially discover artifacts to prove the truth behind Osirion theology, he jumped at the chance. Concealing his companion, he began to look around for other potential explorers who would be able to help him enter the tombs.

Life Link (Su): At 1st level, a summoner forms a close bond with his eidolon. Whenever the eidolon takes enough damage to send it back to its home plane, as a reaction to the damage, the summoner can sacrifice any number of hit points he has without using an action. Each hit point sacrificed in this way prevents 1 point of damage dealt to the eidolon. This can prevent the eidolon from being sent back to its home plane.
In addition, the eidolon and the summoner must remain within 100 feet of one another for the eidolon to remain at full strength. If the eidolon is beyond 100 feet but closer than 1,000 feet, its current and maximum hit point totals are reduced by 50%. If the eidolon is more than 1,000 feet away but closer than 10,000 feet, its current and maximum hit point totals are reduced by 75%. If the eidolon is more than 10,000 feet away, it is immediately returned to its home plane. Current hit points lost in this way are not restored when the eidolon gets closer to its summoner, but its maximum hit point total does climb to the levels indicated and eventually returns to normal.
Summon Monster I (Sp): At 1st level, a summoner can cast summon monster I as a spell-like ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + his Charisma modifier. Drawing on this ability uses up the same power that the summoner uses to call his eidolon. As a result, he can use this ability only when his eidolon is not summoned. He can cast this spell as a standard action, and the creatures remain for 1 minute per level (instead of 1 round per level). At 3rd level, and every 2 levels thereafter, the power of this ability increases by 1 spell level, allowing him to summon more powerful creatures (to a maximum of summon monster IX at 17th level). At 19th level, this ability can be used as gate or summon monster IX . If used as gate, the summoner must pay any required material components. A summoner cannot have more than one summon monster or gate spell active in this way at one time. If this ability is used again, any existing summon monster or gate from this spell-like ability immediately ends. These summon spells are considered to be part of the summoner's spell list for the purposes of spell trigger and spell completion items. In addition, the summoner can expend uses of this ability to fulfill the construction requirements of any magic item he creates, so long as he can use this ability to cast the required spell.

Here is Jandar-Ki, my Time Thief submission. I left some aspects TBD (feat/skill), as I want to make the role work with the rest of the party. With the Trap Finder trait and Disable Device as a class skill, he can fill the role of trap disabler as well as the party face with a decent charisma. Combat-wise, he'll be mobile, but won't be a heavy damage dealer. Ranged/tripper/debuffer are options; at the very least, flank-buddy.

Time Thief 1 - HP 10/10,- AC 15/T: 12/FF: 13 - Perception +5 - F: +2/ R: +4/ W: +3 - CMB: +2 - CMD: 14, Speed: 30, Init. +2

Background:

Jandar-Ki grew up in the Westgate district of Absalom,
but spent most of his youth on the seedier streets of the Puddles district.
Westgate was too boring compared to the excitement, grit, and all too real
dangers the Puddles district offered.

While hanging out from the rooftops and observing the streets, local members
of the Green Drake gang caught Jandar-Ki's attention. Jandar-Ki was familiar
with their movements by now; he and his friends spent many afternoons stealthily
following them and other ruffians for sport. It started as dares to get as close
as possible which quickly escalated to a game of bragging rights of who could
harass them the most. This time, however, he observed them lift an odd trinket
from what appeared to be fairly well to do merchant. The game was on, and Jandar-Ki
followed them to their hideout and eventually recovered a golden staff head shaped
like a crane. The thrill over and no real interest in the item, Jandar-Ki returned
the item to the original and very grateful owner. Unfortunately, his actions weren't
completely unnoticed. Later that night, it's believed that the Green Drake gang
set fire to the homes in Westgate. Jandar-Ki's parents were consumed in the flames.

In the days that passed, agents of House Ordos sought him out. Coincidentally, the
owner of the golden staff head was a family member of Ordos and was seeking a way to
thank him in parallel; the news of the tragedy just made it easier. An offer to work
for House Ordos was made and from that day forth Jandra-Ki was a spnsored treasure hunter.

22 and counting. Lot of beatsticks. Good skill, ranged, and caster numbers. One cleric though. Odd considering all the undead we are likely to run into. There is a necromancer though.

Probably a good indication people are building characters they WANT to play, rather than trying to get an advantage in the AP. Also the CRAZY options available outside the normal pathfinder builds, opened up lots of interesting choices.

True enough. Such high stats allows people to really play those MAD characters. Probably why there are so many gish characters too. Not many pure casters though.

Funny enough, that's WHY I submitted my psychic. I wanted to play this pseudo-MAD psychic for a while, and now I may just get to.

My first gut choice was beatstick as I never get to play those anymore but seeing as there were a lot being thrown up there I remembered I'd been toying around with the idea of bards a few months back.

I'm pretty impressed by the diversity of the choices people submitted. More interesting concepts!

Lionora will take cleric levels from level 2. Sadly she won't be a great healer until then (without a wand anyway), though with all her protective abilities we might be fine anyway. I'm still working on her backstory. I'll post when I'm finished.

Background up, changed deity from Abadar to Shelyn because I realized I had sweet, sweet MADness that befitted a reach cleric :D

stormcrow27: Changed Lorn's animal companion. I'll adjust her backstory accordingly.

Crud, not gonna make it before the deadline. I can come up with a backstory and concept but the crunch is gonna take more time than I can give, wont be off work until wednesday.....

Lol it didn't help that my build is going in too many different directions that wouldn't work due to changes in the release material that is different than the playtest stuff. But the focus is good because is helps with the entire concept with the character and what I want her to be in this campaign, she will be waaaaay more relevant to the actual setting this way.

I am considering a Samsaran Medium/Gravewalker Witch focused on Necromancy and undeath control.

Or a Juju Oracle (Dual Curse)

I am gonna resubmit. We have a lot of beat sticks but very few dedicating Undead Hunters

So I was thinking a Ranger (Trapper) Favored Enemy: Undead

Fauchard for shure. It is a sweet weapon, but I dont think you can even make a Fauchard with the weapon creation rules. On the other hand you can make a better maul then either dwarven long hammer or lucerne hammer and keep it martial so there not exactly the most well thought out rules.

I looked the rules over. Realized that one could easily build some of the hunter trick weapons with the spring loaded ability. Conversely, it's not possible to make anything with a crit range of 18-20. Even exotic. Most DP you can get is a two handed exotic weapon. 9 points. It costs 10 to expand the crit threat range twice. Not unless you drop damage to 1d2 or make it fragile.

And the dwarven long hammer is also out. 8 points max. 5 spent on damage increase and 3 on improved crit multiplier. Can't afford the reach without making it exotic and can't afford dwarven traditional property if you get reach.

Lucerne is out too. 1d12 damage is 5 points. B or P is 1 point. And brace and Reach is 4 points. 10 points. More than you can get with exotic two handed. I think the rules need to add a point or two or drop the prices.

So the fauchard: 4 points for damage. 10 for improved crit range. 4 for reach and trip. 18 points. Ridiculous.

While we wait, I'd appreciate feedback on my build if anyone is willing.

Well djpika, it looks like you made a decent trapbreaker, which it probably going to be very useful in this kind of game. I don't see thieves' tools though; you probably want to pick up a set. Maybe a ranged weapon too.

Nah. If you want the ultimate in ridiculous polearms, the bec de corbin takes the cake. It opens cans as well as plate armor.

Zayne, there is an option to add up to two additional design points but it increases the weapons cost by 15gp/dp. Makes the martial two hand max 10, exotic 11. I read the cost of increasing threat range as 3 dp to make it 19-20, 7 dp to make 18-20. Looking at it again the way you read it appears correct RAW, either way something like a scimitar wouldnt work. I think the weapon creation rules are a good idea and they do open up some interesting mechanical options but there are clearly some flaws. Was just a random idea that popped into my head after spending way to much time on d20pfsrd.

Lot of interesting character concepts, hope mine makes the cut, and best of luck to everybody else. Should be a fun campaign.

Jon the Hunter

This is my undead hunter's crunch. The Create Water is a traded off Spell-like for that Spell-like figured it would make him more useful in the desert.

TheLazyJ, like most things pathfinder, it doesn't feel like those rules were completely thought out. Then again, if they had that kind of time, we wouldn't have all the neat stuff available to us now. Its up to the DM's and players to take what Paizo has and make it our own. Like this:

Hunter's Axe:

The Hunter Axe appears to be a normal battleaxe but within its well designed frame is a mechanism capable of extending the heavy blade forward into something more akin to a halberd.

Price 50 gp; Type two-handed melee; Proficiency Martial; Damage (M) 1d12; Damage (S) 1d10; Critical ×2; Weapon Group polearms; Weight 12 lbs.

Additional DP (3), improved damage (5), spring-loaded (2), weapon feature (reach) (1)

Threaded cane:

This finely crafted cane looks like something a noble would carry to show off his station but it is much mire than that. The shaft is hard steel and dangerous if used right. But with the flick of the wrist it can turn into a deadly whip with even greater reach.

Price 36 gp; Type one-handed melee; Proficiency Martial; Damage (M) 1d6; Damage (S) 1d4; Critical ×2; Weapon Group Flail; Weight 3 lbs.

Additional DP (2), improved damage (2), spring-loaded (2), weapon feature (reach) (1), Additional Damage Type (B and S) (1), Concealed (1)

I could really have some fun with these.

I updated Lionora's background. Critique would be very welcome. I should have a few hours to change a few things before the final deadline.

I'll gladly look over Lionara's sheet for you oyzar. Feel free to look over mine as well, if you want. I'm always up for constructive criticism.

EDIT: PM Sent

I think I am all done now as well. I may still add to the backstory, but it is getting a little on the long side. We'll see.

Thanks. I reserved keeping Charisma high to support debuffing with the Steal Fate ability, but I could see toggling the +2 ability modifier difference for dex to really push it. Weapons/purchases I left for the end. I figured that was dependent on the feat tree selection (ranged/trip). But thanks for reminding me about thief's tools.

Steal Fate* (Su): As a standard action, the time thief can attempt to steal a crucial moment from a target’s future, reducing the chance the target will enjoy a happy and prosperous future. The time thief spends a mote to make a melee touch attack that deals no damage. This may be done in place of an attack taken as part of a full attack action. If hit, the target must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + 1/2 the time thief’s level + the time thief’s Charisma modifier) or suffer a penalty to all attack and damage rolls, skill checks, and saving throws. This effect lasts for 5 minutes for every level of time thief the attacker has. The penalty suffered is equal to –1, and increases to –2 at 8th level, and –3 at 16th level.

My only comment is in regards to skill selection. Filling an arcane role, you may be expected to have Knowledge Arcane/Planar. Not a huge impact, but maybe something to discuss when the final party composition is picked.
