Indeed. The second illustration is an Elmore though I can't remember which compilation of short stories it was on. I do vaguely remember the tale illustrated about the kits, though.

The Liz Danforth illustrations from the RPG, though small, are also nice.

*Bows* Much cheers to all.

Soo, I'm back, and rested.

Um. Sooo. About the ship's name.

USS Miyazaki is one of the ideas. Since it is an Akira class, it should be named after either anime creators or anime characters..

Well.. there's also "Astro Boy" or "Mighty Atom" as the direct translation into English goes.. "Tetsuwan Atomu" ?

The first 'Manga' character I believe. So, finding the native language version of those two might suit.

Heck, the characters creator's name Osamu Tezuka might be something?

Lt Kasia Wey reporting for duty.

I'll be using This as my avatar once I actually adjust my Chrome Plugin.

Liberty's Edge

Here is my character Deroule Raikon, Orion Science Officer. Have we decided on if we are using the FASA system?

Sovereign Court

I think we're gonna go Freeform. Aside from being unable to find the rules in my country, and am kinda leery of donwloading them...

Which rules were you looking for?

Sovereign Court

FASA, to see how they were.

Took a look at some other rulesets and I wasn't impressed.

I prefer freeform roleplay for this kind of joint narrative.

Yeah, I don't have the energy to learn a new ruleset anyway, so for me it's either d20 or freeform.

Liberty's Edge

I was going to say, Where No Man Has Gone Before is a very rules-lite d20 version of Star Trek (and certainly much better than Decipher's Star Trek game) and you can drop the silly bits from that if you want to use a system and rules!

Anyway, I'll get a picture of my character when I get home from errands/Giantslayer later today! ^_^ (does not have to pay for the First Contact uniform in STO, but does prefer Starfleet Sierra-3... =p)

Sovereign Court

I don't know. I LOVE Pathfinder, but i find for this type of game a ruleset of that kind to be very limiting.

Sovereign Court

Sierra 3 is awesome. I love sierra black though :D

Cyborg? (that doesn't have the OP'ness of the Borg)

I don't know. It's 2370, so there have already been unassimilated Borg. You could do that I guess.

What exactly did you have in mind?

Raw concept is someone with cybernetic; Borg might be OP for 1) Knowledge, 2) Nanotech, 3) many resistences/immunities they have.

Sovereign Court

Seven of Nine wasn't that OP.
Plus, don't worry. It's a character driven narrative. Kinda like a new ST series.

Sovereign Court

Ok, this may be completely off topic. But I am PISSED. I'm playing STO at the moment and doing the mission Taris. My character is level 39 and I am piloting a galaxy class.

IRW Sithesh or something like that kicks my ass and I cannot even scratch the damn ship. It's so annoying that I'm considering dropping the game.

I actually just reinstalled STO the other day because of this game. I haven't touched it since a few months after it came out - I'd stopped because there was basically no end game. It has changed quite a bit over the years. I'm enjoying it, but yeah, the "hey buy stuff" aspect is a bit much...

Sovereign Court

In the end I just skipped the mission. And I hate doing that.

Liberty's Edge

Hama, I'll have a picture and a name up tomorrow!

Sovereign Court

Ok. Looking forward to it.

Liberty's Edge

Lieutenant Martine Landen, reporting for duty!

(Pretend that's a lieutenant pip. Also pretend that she's wearing a TNG uniform, not an Odyssey uniform. The initial chargen in STO is rather... limited. =p)

You specify the roles on the ship, but shouldn't you also have characters specifying which areas of 20th century American history they are going to focus on? After all, that's 83% of Starfleet Academy's curriculum.

I think it was more along the lines of known famous artists and philosophers. More relatability.

I'll continue lurking at least until I get a new computer so that I'm not stuck posting from a phone (which is just passable for posting in threads but is going to really hurt when trying to edit a character sheet).

It's ok. Like I said. Episodic in nature. Everyone will be capable of playing a role of some kind.

Sovereign Court

I'm creating a discussion thread.

Also, damnit. USS Miyazaki already exists :D

So, I'm suggesting:

USS Kishimoto
USS Toriyama
USS Kubo

Sovereign Court

I was just made aware that USS miyazaki is from some sort of Harry Potter crossover fanfiction, so the ship can still be called that.

Although I will take any suggestion. And we can vote.

I still like Miyazaki. :)

Chief Science Officer
Lead Fighter Pilot

Just about anything other than : Captain, first officer, chief medic, security chief, chief engineer...

For people thinking of characters... perhaps some sort of specialist?

Science dealing with botany?

Security/Engineering dealing with on-board hazards/HAZMAT?

Medical dealing with social/inter-species interactions/relation ships?

Just some ideas.

Welcome all! (^_^)

Are you still looking for players, if so I would like to be a Bajoran, who felt obliged to join Star Fleet after the Emissary died to save Bajor.

I would love to make a chief science officer so am doing so now

Please consider the following caitian(cat person) for chief science officer who will be transferring from the galaxy class USS Dominion after finishing his tour and being promoted to Lt Commander

Liberty's Edge

@Insnare: I don't think The Sisko's dead ascended yet; we're only in TNG Season 7 time. The Enterprise is still a Galaxy class. =p

(Eagerly awaits getting my current STO character to level 30 so I can fly around in the Defiant then to level 40 so I can fly around in the Sovereign.)

Silver Crusade

Yes we are looking for new players

When might I know if I get selected to play?

At that level the big Romulan ships get a new "trick" - they will tractor beam your ship, then fire multiple plasma torpedoes. You need to counter.

- Evasive Maneuvers or Polarize Hull will get you out of the tractor beam.

- Fire at Will will shoot down the torps if you are using beam weapons, though torps are hard to hit and this is not reliable.

- Photonic Shockwave will disrupt the tractor beam from the enemy ship and also take out the torpedoes.

- Gravity Well won't stop the tractor, but can pull back and absorb the torps.

- Brace for Impact will reduce the torpedo damage.

- Hazard Emitters will clear any plasma fires, if you are hit by the torps.

@Jesse: Was there ever gonna be an update for the Star Trek RPG once Enterprise got a couple seasons under its belt? =p

Silver Crusade

Post you PC here with look back ground race and roll etc

Probably; I remember that right after we did the Denobulan write-up the show had the episode where Phlox reveals that they are super-good climbers. The morphing continuity sometimes meant playing catch up.

This is my pc and the role I am applying for is chief science officer

GM is kind of ambushed RL, so we're mostly making stuff up as we go along while he deals with it, should be back this week. I'm sure he'll let both of ya'll in.

Silver Crusade
