I was going to say that there's still laborers on board, but actually, that just means free laborers, I guess. Onward, my impatient friend!

Tessara feels a jolt as the ship begins moving. Seeing that all her stuff is already on board, she smiles at Hal and Arioch and says quietly, "Hey, you know what time it is? Adventure time..."

I left it open ended, cause I had no idea whether it would work or not. So figured I'd let the DM decide. But we seem to be going around in circles... Figure the Captain will naturally come out through the posting.

While the debate is going on Eleanis leaves the ship when it's stable on port and heads back in a thoughtful mood to her temple. There she explains the situation and informs them that she's found a place where her services are required. This isn't very surprising as her training as an acolyte is complete and, in fact, it's just about time for her to either be assigned a posting at some other temple of Shelyn or begin the process of trainign to become a teacher acolyte and become a 'lifer'.

It takes about half a day for Eleanis to gather her simple belongings and her healing supplies and she receives gifts and well wishes from her friends and teachers as she does so. The two most surprising gifts are the masterwork glaive that she trains with the teachers explaining that they had the weapon specially commissioned for her anyway as a prize for her accomplished weapon training and a shining breastplate made of shimmering mithral.

Since you'll be travelling with a ship and crew you might need this. It used to belong to a paladin of Shelyn who retired and donated it to the temple and I can think of no better person to pass it on to than you Glaive wielder The head priestess says with a smile.

The last thing Eleanis does is write a letter to her parents explaining her training is complete and she's found a place in need of her talents and with a glad heart she dons the beautiful armour and heads back to the ship with a light, though badly sung, tune on her lips.

Ready to go, and yeah I'm out of the captain talk.

Well i don't know about the rest of you, but while everyone thinks about this captain issue. I am going to deal with something far more important, which room is mine and putting away my stuff.
Teleron shakes Simons hand then grabs his stuff and heads below deck to claim a room.

As conversation flows around her, Freyja listens and seems to be deep in thought. Finally she interjects to all present.

Here is my proposal. Hal and I shall be co-captains. I shall be captain by day and Hal by night. We shall choose some badge of office and officially transfer it so there is never any doubt who is in charge. Xyla, who is good at so many things shall be first mate and serve as a tie breaker if there is some conflict between captains. Shien, who also wished for command shall be our marine commander and be responsible for the defense of the ship. Siri shall be navigator. Eleanis shall be the ships medic and will be responsible for keeping us all well. And Tessara is of course the ships mage and shall be responsible for all things arcane. Mikal, who I thought I saw a moment ago shall be our scout. Arioch shall also scout and lead our arial assault team. I have not been able to learn enough to recommend possessions for Nicos and Teleron yet and will listen to their recommendations. She pauses to catch her breath and gauge reactions.

Hal and I shall draft a basic charter that, when we all agree to it, we shall all sign. It establish that we are all equal, how we agree to treat with each other, that we shall not shirk our duties, etc. But there is time for that later, after we learn more of this marvelous ship.

She moves to Simon and asks Since the sun shines I am the captain. Might I hold that crystal pendant and pilot the Crimson Rose for its maiden voyage with is new crew?

"I'd be honored to pen it myself, Captain. I'd also like to thank you for the honor of chronicler and sage. When you two are ready, I have everything needed to write the charter in my room. I also have a mapmaking kit for Xyla and a stretcher for Eleanis."

Hal nods his head in agreement, I would be agreeable to that idea. Perhaps while you are captain, I shall assist Shien with any combat duties that he needs help with. Perhaps we can work together on the charter, rather than having a single member of the crew craft such an important document.

Girl Did they finally pick a captain. Simon yeah it took some time but I think they are good now He jumps up ontop the wolves back. Looks down at Freyja tossing her the crystal pendant. Take care of them Rose with that they turn and jump off the ship and ride off into the town.

Freyja catches the pendant, pleased that she had guessed correctly that it was the "key" to the ship. Believing that it will somehow tie her to the Crimson Rose the first thought in her mind when her hand contacts the crystal is

The Crystal Rose jumps to life wings begin flapping in place the red color of the ship shifts colors of red over and over as if liquid is flowing through it.

Did the girl on the wolf look like the one I saw in the visions from the Crimson Rose?

Seeing as I was asleep for most of this, I'm going to interject Arioch's statements he would have made at the opportune moments.

When Freyja made her speech in which we basically handed out jobs to everyone Arioch looked up.
"Seems reasonable enough to me. Think I've worked under worse conditions", he said with a smirk.

When Simon and the girl left the ship on top of the wolf, Arioch jumped of his chair and went to the railing, waving goodbye and shouting after them, "Bye Simon and friends! Hope we meet again someday! Hopefully with loads of stories to tell!"

When the Crimson Rose started to take off, Arioch kept watching over the railing for a moment and then went to the rest. "Well, now that that is settled. I'm going to find a place where I can string up my hammock."

With at least contact established with the ship, if not control, Freyja uses the time while people gather their gear to explore and to further try to talk with the Crimson Rose. I am getting the feeling that the ship uses empathy more than speech to communicate? She sends thoughts of impending excitement but current patience while crew bring possessions aboard and non-crew depart. Prepare for our maiden voyage. She calls to those still aboard. Siri, we need a worthy destination!

As she wanders she attempts to pass through the doors on the top deck that have been barred to others. I am thinking of these as the for and aft cabins?

Later she speaks with the cleric of Shelyn quietly and privately. Eleanis, I am so pleased that we are both part of this endeavor. I fear you and I must attempt to be the moral compass of our group and guide them toward the greater good. I have no illusions that I will agree with every action each that the crew takes, but I resign myself to knowing that with both of us urging the group towards rightness and good we will become more than thieves and pirates. But to make a difference it will require both of us. Can I count on you?

Wondering to himself if he actually missed this room or if Rose made more when he asked. He takes a chair to the front of the ship and sits, waiting for new adventure to show itself.

Sure as hell better than if I did it :D But I have to say, the position of the stairs is off. I can't see how you can use them. Especially the deck 2>3 stairs. Other than that, fantastic! :D

Plus a solid place to set down if we need to do repairs. Anyone else have any suggestions?"

Eleanis considers Freyja's words and nods along with what she is saying I feel that Shelyn wants me to be here and I think this is exactly why. I'm sure there are treasure maps to chase to keep us busy and keep us from bothering innocents. I fully believe that The Crimson Rose can be a force for good in the skies and I'm glad to have you as an ally Day Captain. Eleanis grins Now come, I'm thinking that this room on the second deck can be the ship surgery and this room over HERE can be set aside as a general prayer room for anyone in the crew to use. What do you think?

We need to get a feel for her Siri. How fast is she? How quick can she turn? What are her defenses? Does she have weapons, or want them? Lets plot a voyage that lets us see how she handles. But lets not get too far from this port as we will need to come back here and take on food and water and other supplies before we embark on a longer journey.

Freyja seeks out Shien for a discussion on ship security. I'd like a plan from you on how to best secure the ship and a system for communication with those within the ship. We need to be able to call the crew to any specific area quickly and alert them in case of combat or emergency. Perhaps a system of bells?

I am unsure if the ship has and exposed deck and where the hatches are. I see a set of stairs between the top and middle decks and an other between the middle and bottom deck. Where did we get on? How many places are there to get off? And is there an exposed deck?

Freyja confers with Hal about the ship's charter that he has agreed to help draft. I recommend that we specify equal shares for all crew on any loot liberated. That way there will be less hard feelings when someone is left on board when they wanted to be part of an away team. I also recommend that as we carve out shares we designate 1 full share as a minimum for the ship itself to keep it maintained and well supplied. With 11 of us we might initially need to make that 2 shares. And I would like to see firm rules about stealing from the crew. I am in favor of no second chances. If you are caught trying to steal or hide loot that should be divided between the crew you are out. I will not abide thieves. She listens to Hals thoughts before changing subjects.

I would also see the charter state that each of us shall treat all others in the crew with respect and support them to a reasonable level. There shall be no fighting between the crew unless its a declared duel that you or I approve of. Any grievance should come to us to be decided and in no case shall crew attack crew outside of said sanctioned duel. And lastly the charter needs to state that each of us shall have and perform a minimum set of duties. we cannot allow any of the crew to get away with not pulling their weight, be it standing a watch or cooking a meal.

Again she listens to Hal's thoughts before asking What else needs to be addressed?

After she finishes setting her room up and writing some notes, Tessara carries her chalkboard up to the top deck and writes "Who is up for a game?" on it. She then a sits down at the upper deck table with a deck of cards, humming to herself and shuffling them. She also sets down a box containing wooden chips. I am doing this as a get to know each other thing, and to find out everyone's goals. As in the excitement, half of us probably forgot to drop names, at the least. Also, Tessara loves games.

To Teleron: That sounds wonderful. Aside from the altar I want the room to be a place of peace and contemplation, maybe keep a little bit of insence burning, hang the holy symbols of all the deities important to the crew on the walls. What do you think? Oh we'll have to find out who everyone worships! I do hope no one worships anyone evil!

Eleanis sits near where the game is being played and says I'll just watch for now. Try to learn the rules, maybe join some other time

To Eleanis:I think that is a good idea. And that among many other things we should find out about each other since we will be spending the forseeable future together in the skies, it would really help to know how we are sailing with.

The shadows melt from behind Freyja, Mikal appears from them as smoke would rise from a fire. Never making a sound he moves to Freyja's side and speaks. His voice is never more than a quiet whisper.

Do not worry for the ships security. We have spoken on this matter and I will protect The Rose. As well as all her children. If you ever need me I will always be close by...

With that, Mikal returns to his coveted shadow.

Hal nods in agreement with Freyja's ideas. I do not abide cheaters and thieves, they will not be tolerated on my watch. Everything you've said thus far has been reasonable, I have nothing to add.

With that said, he drops into a chair next to Tessara, Deal me in, hopefully my luck improves from the last game!

Tessara begins dealing the cards and handing out chips to all the newcomers, "The game is poker. Everyone know the rules? While we're all sitting down, maybe we should tell everyone about ourselves? Talk about why we're here, and more importantly, where we want to go. As a team and as people, what are our goals?"

Hal continues the introductions. I'm Hal, a former pirate who flew these skies with Flit, but I never found the adventure I was looking for. Eventually, a ballista shot down Flit, and we've been waiting here in the city for him to recover ever since.
Now that we've made enough gold from pirating, we'd just like to explore the world and do things that no one has ever done before. Starting on a winged and seemingly telepathic ship looks like a pretty good way to do that.
