A large spectral hand shoots out of the gauntlet that shien is wearing.
Arioch the swift |
The rules on spellcraft state the following :
Identify the properties of a magic item using detect magic --> Spellcraft DC 15 + item's caster level. Attempting to ascertain the properties of a magic item takes 3 rounds per item to be identified and you must be able to thoroughly examine the object.
How to determine the item's caster level :
You only need the highest CL of the item.
For Weapons/Armor:
minimum Caster Level is 3*Enhancement Bonus
- +1 = CL3 (DC18)
- +2 = CL6 (DC21)
- +3 = CL9 (DC24)
- +4 = CL12 (DC27)
- +5 = CL15 (DC30)
All other items are Spell based. Note that Magical Properties (such as Brilliant Energy) are Spell based. (Brilliant Energy requires gaseous form, continual flame and is A CL16 (DC31).
For example, a +4 (DC27) Brilliant Energy (DC31) Armor would require a DC31 Spellcraft Check in order to identify that it is a +4 Brilliant Energy Armor. Otherwise, you just know it's magical.
This might also be relevant. Identifying Cursed Items: Cursed items are identified like any other magic item with one exception: unless the check made to identify the item exceeds the DC by 10 or more, the curse is not detected. If the check is not made by 10 or more, but still succeeds, all that is revealed is the magic item's original intent. If the item is known to be cursed, the nature of the curse can be determined using the standard DC to identify the item.
The spell Analyze Dweomer is the only 100% certain way to determine whether an item is cursed or not.
"Euhm, that's not your doing is it?" Arioch stated when the hand shot out of Shien's gauntlet.
Oz Folklore |
So all these items are made up by me on the spot and there for don't have Spell attach to them so how would you all like me to go about telling you about them. No of these items will be like ones you have ever seen. I have some spells that could be hooked to them. But how would you all like me to identity them for you.
Mikal Dusk |
Mikal returns the shoulder clap, creating a connection between Hal and himself. His hand on Hal's shoulder, Hal's hand on his. He looks back at Hal and gives him a swift nod before releasing his grip and turning to walk back below deck to his room. In the safety and confines of the womb of The Rose.
"If anyone needs me, just call for me."
Shien |
woh!
well that was cool, i wonder what i can use it for?
Shien looks at Arioch with a bit of confusion.
Well i don't think i told it to do that but lets see if i can do it again.
and Shien points the glove at the railing of the other ship, hoping the hand will hit it, or grab it. Both outcomes would be acceptable.
Tessara - Conjurer |
Tessara smiles at Hal, "Nice hat, cap'n." but he's unsure if he's sincere or sarcastic or both. "Freyja, maybe we'll have better luck in the morning. I'm hitting the heystack. G'night, everybody." Tessara flops in her bunk after putting Batwing back in his cage, "G'night, Batty Battington."
Freyja* |

With the rolls we have I believe we would be able to discern all the properties.
Oz Folklore |
Sounds good to me.
Gauntley projects ghost hand that can deliver healing spells Restoration Spells
The Bow Shoots a Bolt of crushing despair
When swung the liquid Rune through invisible veins along the sword
You may cast Abilities though this weapon that is a touch ability
Freyja* |
Freyja picks up the bow. I would claim this if no one else contests my claim.
crushing despair is sort of a bard thing. Oz, can the bow also shoot normal arrows? Is the crushing despair the standard cone, or is it a single target? Do you roll to hit and then the enemy also gets a save? Normally its one or the other.
Tessara - Conjurer |
Retcon: "I think the girl you just took the bow from might contest. Anyway, the gauntlet projects a ghost hand to deliver healing spells, the bow shoots bolts of crushing despair, and the sword seems to deliver touch spells through it or something. I can't tell about that last one, though, it's hard to read. But none of this interests me at all, so you can fight it out." Tessara then continues to bed as described.
Teleron Haloron |
Teleron after finishing the rites with Eleanis listens to the conversation with the loot and chips in
Perhaps the gloves should be with you Eleanis you seem to be more versed in healing than i am, and if my two bits matters on this then why not think this way, we have someone try out the gear a little to see if there is any side effects, obviously with caution, before we choose to keep or sell the loot? that way we know for certain on what to do with it.
Freyja* |

Waht are you talking about here?
Shien |
I volunteer for any and all guinea pig duties
Side question about the loot:
Does the gauntlet cast healing and restoration spells through the hand? or can you just cast your healing and restoration magic through the hand.
does the bow allow you to cast crushing despair with the range of the bow? or does it fire crushing despairrows, witch we can use with rapid shot?
Does the katana function like the magus spellstrike class ability?
I ask these questions because I'm planning to experiment with the loot as was suggested.
Oz Folklore |
Don't understand gauntlet question? you cast your healing Spells through the spectral hand.
The bow makes the arrow cast Crushing Despair When it hits.
And yes kinda like that on the katana
And experimenting With loot might be hard since other people have the other 2 Pieces
As a note I would not like to spend that much time on each item. Cause I would like to give a lot of unique items that I will give a small description and if identified Ill tell you some more about it but would love some grab and go trial and error type things.
Xyla Delacroix |
If anyone would like to hold the bow and mess with it, don't be afraid go ahead were all family here now and I never mind sharing :) Also if need i have sailing skills/piloting if need be and it wouldn't be too hard to follow close or just steer if we tether it to our ship. Just ideas :D
Eleanis Riasky |
Let us fly this ship with us to the island. We can decide what to do with it later. And then tired and exhausted and having given her opinion she goes back to her quarters to fall dead asleep, but not before a quick prayer of course.
Arioch the swift |
Island first, then see if we find some more adventure :)
Tessara - Conjurer |
We should like skip to the island, maybe? Xyla can fly the other ship with whoever else on it. We could just amass ships at our base. And loot. In fact, I vote against selling any loot. I just want fat ass piles of loot. All the loot.
Oz Folklore |
I Like the sound of a fat ass pile of loot, So i am under the general consensus that you all are going to the island and Xyla Is flying the other ship. And that hal is gone till Monday and Freyja is gone till Sunday night. that means both captains are out of commission.
Mikal Dusk |
Mikal sits alone in the belly of The Rose. In the middle of a dark room, meditating, he listens to the soft hum coming from the crystalline walls. It comforts him as the sound wraps around him. His eyes closed and his hands on his knees. All his swords lay out before him neatly. He loses himself in his own mind. Waiting for the next time he is needed.
Arioch the swift |
If Shien is intend on experimenting with the floating stones Arioch will remind him that Mikal attacked one of our crew because he grabbed one of them. And if he still insists, Arioch will be nearby with his lucerne hammer to knock it out of the air if necessary ....
Tessara - Conjurer |
Tessara sleeps and writes things. Probably plays a few games as well. Oh, and she tries to forge a deed to the island we're going to, just in case. Now, that last one, she does in SECRET. Also because she's bored and likes breaking the law, she makes some fake IDs for everyone. I'm thinking members of the royal guard or something.
Masha. |
Masha do nothing in particular. She would have wanted a party to celebrate but since a member of the crew died she desist of that idea. She spend the night looking at the roof of her room and figthing her insomnia.
Freyja* |
Freyja is nervous after the attack ands completes her watch with diligence. She advises against playing with those stones until full daylight and only then with the support of all the casters helping identify them. But as she is not the captain at the moment she only advises and does not order.
Oz Folklore |
The Sun breaks over the horizon you see a island off in the distance the sun silhouetting it.
Eleanis Riasky |
Eleanis rises early, as is her habit from the temple, and prays for guidance for the day. Spell List for the day prepared in alias. She then goes up on deck and breathes in deeply. Putting the horrible events of the last day behind her and looking forward to what they might find on the island.
Freyja* |
Freyha takes command in a likely too formal of a ceremony on her part at dawn, relieving Hal til sunset. She sets a course to sail around the island in tightening circles so that everyone can examine the place before trying to come to close.
Arioch the swift |
Arioch went to the railing trying to get a better look of the island.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Eleanis Riasky |
This place is beautiful Eleanis breathes out as she gazes at the wondorous tree that dominates and looms over the twisty paths that criss cross the island. And it seems like there is a perfect place to land and dock. I wonder if it is natural or somehow created by someone.
