I believe so.

[True] Resurrection and 'Re'-Undead them works on some of the undead (corporeal only I think?). Not very elegant ...

Wouldn't true-resurrection resurrect them alive again?

Yeah, that's why the 'Re-undeading' part is required ... Raise them as living and throw them screaming back into undeath. Atleast they are happy afterwards, right ^^?

Which is why it only works (well) on some undead - the ones where the undeath is easy to reproduce, like vampire-ism.

It would also work with zombies, ghouls, and ghasts onboard the ship (with a percentile failure chance) because of the Lazurite Focus.

So now, because you're going shopping for a few things in Caliphas, I'd like to get your shopping lists out of the way before we get to Tar'jub's introduction - I was imagining that he enter while the ship had already launched.

Remember that you have that massive pile of gold (some 280,000gp) to make purchases with, but also remember to save for siege weapons, which you must purchase in Alkenstar (assuming that they're firearms).

I was thinking True res followed by Create greater undead. However, Vampire doesn't seem to be on the list. Though it suppose it'd be easy enough to get another vampire to do it. Convincing them not to make them a thrall may be harder, but threatening to throw them off the ship at noon may do it.

I have a better idea. Don't die. Err. Don't undie again or whatever.

None of it's my gold, but I'll mention possibly getting some scrolls of greater demiplane and the reagents to make them permanent.

I'll offer sound advice and assist however I can. If this thing runs on electricity I'd recommend creating something that can create electricity at will. Or at least a wand or something.

I can totally see the entire party sitting in a circle around the engine a cold winter day, cursing and pokeing it with a wand of Shocking Grasp^^

Lu & Co has enough mundane stuff to turn their small cabin into something reasonable cosy, and Treasurer's Seal lets locks and wards the door. It would be attuned to Lu, Tris and Lima at start.

But that does remind me, when one recharges the engine - does AoE spells 'leak'? IE if one uses Lightning Bolt (or Elemental [electric] Fireball) to load it, does it absorb the entire spell or should we stay clear of the area : )?

Okay so what I would advocate is saving 196800 for 6 +1 distance mwk Fiendsmouth cannons and 1000 cannon balls for them. That leaves 83200 gold left over. Of this gold Praetorius and I each want 10k to spend on our own stuff and leaving 63200 to spend on immediate upgrades to the ship. Sound good? If so then lets choose what of the things you guys brainstormed to upgrade the ship with.

Assuming we can find them, which may take a trip to the city of brass, Scrolls of Greater demiplane are 3,825 each. Plus 22,500 to make it permanent. Plus 500 GP focus (reusable)

Even just one has a ridiculous amount of use. Just saying.

In regards to bringing undead back, Tar'jub has the same issue. As an extraplanar outsider, if he dies he poofs entirely, leaving true res, miracle and wish as the options for bringing him back. There's an exception, however. The pale orange rhomboid gives you a "get out of death free" card once per day (or just once for the flawed version).

I'd suggest keeping a few flawed ones around until we can afford full versions for Belor and Praetorius. Tar'jub's got a flawed one for now, since he's smarter than he sounds and not terribly keen on ceasing to exist.

An Orb of Storms is 48000gp, which is a bit pricey. But it could be useful and/or fun : )

Otherwise I second the Scroll and Ioun stone idea.

We could certainly pick up a stash of consumables, like useful scrolls, potions, feather tokens and wands. A couple of scrolls of Control Weather/Wind could never go amiss. A wand of Make Whole makes repairs go faster ect.

What? Half-Elf Writer 1 / Dancer 1 / Chemist 1

Oh, just a quick tip for a potential adventure.

goz masks, face items that protect against the effects of the weather, used to be carried by the Storm Kindlers, trying to investigate the Eye of Abendego. Despite their magical protections, the storms defeated them and they were eventually killed by the followers of the Gorilla King.

Thus, any known goz masks are kept by the Gorilla King. Not only that, but the Gorilla King currently is in possession of the largest siege weapon in the world.

For ease of oversight - I'm putting together a small list of places to go and what we want from them. This might help us plan a route/adventure!

So far:

Alkenstar: Weaponry for the ship

City of Brass: Scrolls and other purchases (orb of storms?)

Eye of Abendego: Goz Masks

//

As for other places, Numeria sounds like a place where we could find cool stuff. Also some standard piracy might be nice. For kicks and laughs - perhaps trying to slip trough the elf-gate in kyonin ... =)?

//

Other nice items to buy: I would highly suggest that we pick up Wands of True Strike and hand out to our gunners - so they might actually hit stuff. And the cost is negligible next to the price of the artillery itself.

On a similar topic, to cannons target touch AC on their first increment like other firearms? It would make them so much more potent against some of the flying menace we might come across (other dragons :P)

Also, We're pirates so I imagine we're looking for other ships (most likely sea going) that are carrying lots of treasure. Now, in a world of magic ships may not carry treasure, but perhaps other goods we'd want to take. We're pirates after all, we should do at least some pirating.

I'm having a brain fart. What's that spell that clerical affects an area and you can tie others spells to that? I thought it was desecrate, but the description indicates I was wrong.

Whatever it is that could be a useful thing to have on the ship.

HP 75/250 | Init +11/12 | AC 43/20/37; 35/22/28 | CMD 45; 44 (+16/12 vs trip) | Fort +23/22 Ref +23/24 Will +22 | Dragon Senses, Per +26

FYI: I believe we're waiting on the captains to decide what to purchase. In the meanwhile Lu and I are roleplaying, but feel free to jump in.

Yes, Unhallow was it. My clerical spell casting knowledge is a little rusty.

Here is the list of spells I can put on the unhallowed site (aka the ship)

Spell effects that may be tied to an unhallowed site include aid, bane, bless, cause fear, darkness, daylight, death ward, deeper darkness, detect magic, detect good, dimensional anchor, discern lies, dispel magic, endure elements, freedom of movement, invisibility purge, protection from energy, remove fear, resist energy, silence, tongues, and zone of truth.

My thoughts on some of the spells:

Darkness: (Should help our vampires during the day, but we'll also stick out like a giant black spot in the sky. Deeper darkness = same issue with greater problems.

Protection from energy: Perhaps Cold due to high altitudes.

Endure elements: Generally useful

Tongues: Generally useful

Death ward: our living crew members would love this. Our undead wouldn't probably care either way.

HP 75/250 | Init +11/12 | AC 43/20/37; 35/22/28 | CMD 45; 44 (+16/12 vs trip) | Fort +23/22 Ref +23/24 Will +22 | Dragon Senses, Per +26

Death Ward would render the Lazurite Focus impotent against us - which feels like a good failsafe. However, IIRC Unhallow is pretty strict on how people are attuned (only broad categories), which might make it not offer a 100% protection or also benefit our foes.

Speed 40': Fly 50' Init +5; Perception +25;AC 20, T:11, ff:19, F+10, R+10, W+18(+2Ench); +2 SR 18; CMD17 HP: 59/59

True. Unless you all want to convert we'd need to pick an "all creatures" option. So if we get boarded the enemy will have the same thing.

I'm not sure where our captains have got to, but it doesn't necessarily have to be their decision - you guys can make suggestions for what we spend our money on.

Titles aside, I don't really want anyone to be overrode by another player.

Well, neither of us were there when the money was made so its not our decision for that reason. Suggestions were made but i guess we need to hammer out some official numbers.

For the sake of hammering this out I'll start compiling a list. Prices could be less if you want me to make them, but time is a factor so it'll depend on how long you want to stay here. 1 day per 1000 gp for half market value due to my cooperative crafting familiar.

- 6 +1 distance mwk Fiendsmouth cannons and 1000 cannon balls = 196,800
Reminder 63,200

- Demiplane (after an expedition to the City of Brass) = 26,825 (minimum)

Create greater demiplane scroll: 3,825GP, Focus (reusable); 500 gp forked metal rod,Permanency cost: 22,500 gp

-Eversmoking bottle (cloud disguise, though we may need more than one. gotta do the math.) = 5400

What else? Lets make a running list.

I guess your cleric level is not high enough to cast Control Weather Sparel ? A couple of those scrolls could probably come in handy!

Edit: A Lyre of Building's first effect sound tempting - assuming our ship counts as an Inanimate Object! Costs 13000 gp for 30 minutes of protection against Siege weapons and Disintigrate (for the ship)

I'll be working on my cleric caster level after I max my wizard.

I'll add the scrolls and cost to the list when I'm

If you want specific spells cast every day a couple of level appropriate pearls of power wouldn't be a bad idea. I think the 5th level spells are the popular ones.

Sorry I haven't been posting much guys last day or two has been busy. Anyways as far as shopping goes I talked a little with leinathan and he said we wouldn't be able to buy fiends mouth cannons in Caliphas. I think we weren't able to buy scrolls of greater demi-plane either. Therefore we should either buy what we can here or save some money and go straight to where we could buy them. If we choose to do buy what we can then we might not even want to save a bunch of money and just try to make some on the way depending on how much time we have along the journey. What do you guys think? Ill be checking on this a bit tonight so that you guys don't have to wait on praetorius and I so often and so we can get it this moving along.

My assumption was that we'd have to travel to get these things, which isn't a problem. The larger things will take a couple of trips, but even they aren't an issue.

You are dealing with the magical multitool.

I have the mythic version of Floating disk. Among other things it allows me to teleport with anything on it as though it was weightless.

Incidentally I also have mythic endure elements. Basically our side will be able to use ranged weapons in bad weather without penalty.

If we can control the weather then we can have a serious advantage in combat.

As soon as the captains make their wishes known Sparel can do some casting to figure out where to buy such things and make arrangements to get them. Could be a fun side quest.

I told you i'd show my usefulness quickly. :-)

The cannons seem like a core element of the ship, so I suggest we head towards Alkenstar asap. When we are there and wait for our weaponry, we could take our planar excursion and get the scrolls.

I rather have gold to pay with then suffer an 'alternative payment method' in the City of Brass so I suggest we keep enough gold for these purchases at least : )

Ok then lets just save our money and head to Alkenstar. All I can think of needing in Caliphas is a coffin (or two (or three)) and to speak with Luvick Searvage the local vampire lord. I'll go do my shopping and push the game towards leaving Caliphas I suppose.

EDIT: Actually thinking about it. Leinathan do you want me to actually roleplay out the shopping and seeing Luvick or should we just skip on forward for Tar'jubs sake?

Anything that we can carry or strap to a souped-up Floating disk we can pop over and get.

I can use greater scrying and the message cantrip to scry on then talk to whomever we need. There are other methods, but thats the cleanest.

Basically we'll call in our order and come pick it up when it's ready. I can even Summon (Calling version) something with greater teleport at will to run errands.

Unless it's huge then running to buy things isnt an issue.

Sparel, Luc, you can spend pretty much any amount of money on a case of wine - they range anywhere from 1gp to 1,000gp. How much do you want to spend?

It's mostly arbitrary. 1000GP is a drop in the bucket, so depending on what we can find we'll buy some of the best. For experiments of course. FOR PSEUDO-SCIENCE!

Man I asked for useful stuff, but I wanted so hard to ask for a deck of many things. If it weren't for its ability to utterly destroy or derail the campaign I totally would have.

I'm looking forward to this wine thing you guys have going on. It sounds like it can be a fair bit of fun as well as being useful.

I totally would've asked for the deck! Derailment or not they're always fun :p

I feel like he wouldn't give us an artifact on a one for one basis. I feel if we wanted him to give us a powerful artifact he would be like bring me two and we can trade.

Unless he had an ulterior motive, such as getting it away from him.

On the topic, this is my favourite artefact. With it, one can truly sing the song that ends the world :P
