No update sorry. I've been busily running around the last few days and my knee has decided to punish me for it.

Sorry folks but I'm still not in good enough health. It may be a few more days depending on what the Doctor says. It is mainly the medication knocking me out.

It is a bad case of Cellulitis
The major problem is the infected area is constantly weeping. This means the dressings get soaked and make the infection worse. So I'm on a powerful diuretic as well as taking antibiotics 4 times a day as well.
It does seem to be working, slowly. I had the dressings changed today and the infected area is shrinking thankfully.
I still can't recall how I got the infection though? A small scratch on my ankle that suddenly flared up into a painful infection.
Hopefully it will keep improving and I'll be back to updating by Monday. Thanks for your patience.
Bad news no update tonight.
Good news the infection is visibly getting better and hopefully it won't be much longer before it is gone.
By visibly better I mean the surrounding area is no longer red and inflamed. Still a small, infected area that is very painful.
Very painful as the dressings were changed today and I got an old school nurse who poured saline solution over the area and scrubbed it clean. She looked a little disappointed that she didn't get any screams out of me. :)

Better than my brother. He’s a former green beret who had a sore on his foot. Thought he was ‘taking care of it’ but lost half his foot to gangrene. Nearly died.

Having barely avoided sepsis recently and spent 4 days in the hospital, it's always a good idea to get it checked out.

True. A lot of the problems I've had were due to thinking that cleaning the infected area with disinfectant would solve the problem.
I should have gone to the Doctor straight away. It's not that expensive here.
Dude! That always makes me nervous. My best friend in high school almost became sepsis and she ended up with a week in the hospital. Though that was also due to surgery.
Then I had a guy who I was with on the debate team got and infected tooth after a root canal and died within three days only a month after graduation... These things are not to be underestimated.
No update tonight sorry. Infection improving a lot. Medication still chaining me to the bathroom. Thankfully I'm on the last days of it.

I was out visiting my Mother in Paraparaumu today and got home to find I'd left my phone and wallet out at her place.

Didn't the story say the giants sank the wizard's ship? Maybe its still there under the water? There could be some useful bits stuff at the bottom of the bay?
I'm always down for an underwater expedition. I wanna get Ederleigh up to speed with his old mentor's spellbook (he won't be able to use a bunch of the higher-level stuff, but it beats nuthin') and maybe spend a day just fabricating material for our makeshift port. Once all of those things are done, we should probably start exploring inland!

A dock, large enough to tie up the ship should be priority. After that, repairing the fortification and then crafting siege weapons (catapults) should be next.

Sorry, not too well so no update.
After a couple of bad days things got so severe I had to go to the GP. It seems I have something called a Atrial flutter.
Take it from me it is very unpleasant. I tried doing my weekly grocery shopping and nearly passed out, which lead to me seeing my Doctor.
So I'm flat on my back and very tired at the moment. I'll keep you updated as to how I'm doing and when it looks like I can return.

An update for everyone.
After getting home I received a call from my Doctor saying that the blood tests had shown possible heart damage. Could I get to the emergency dept of Wellington hospital to get it checked?
I went in and was given the full barrage of tests. It took a couple of days. It seems it's not a heart attack as first feared thankfully, but the Atrial flutter is playing havoc with my pulse rate. A resting pulse of 120 - 300 isn't good.
The solution is giving me an electric shock to the heart to reset it. So I'm at home again on a lot of medication, Waiting for a slot to open up so I can be treated.
it seems my family has a history of this problem. My mother has it and my brother had to be treated twice as he suffered from Atrial fibrillation
The medication I'm on seems to be working thankfully. I'm a lot more relaxed and comfortable. A few more days of the medication calming things down and I should be back to posting.

Also Nurses and Doctors are overworked and underpaid. Shove all the empty praise and pay them what they are worth!

Good to hear that you’re on the mend. I agree, doctors and nurses need a complete update to their paychecks. Add teachers in and you have a trifecta on urgent updates needed to workers who need improvement in pay.

It is good to know you're getting back on your feet! My sister is a nurse, so I'm well aware they are not paid what they're worth. Even more so after the pandemic, they where our front lines and suffered greatly both physically and mentally. Our teachers are those who forge the next generation, our hopes and dreams rest with them... What does it say about that future when we can't ensure they are able to feed their families or keep a roof over their heads?
