Had fun at GenCon. First time there. Ran 7 sessions and only got to play in 2. My guess is that there was a ton of other things going on, but since I was playing PF most of the time, I did not get to see most of it. Will have to decide if I go again whether I get Paizo to pay for my room and run 7+ sessions, of pay for a room and get to enjoy the weekend more.

I will say that it is huge. We had 189 tables for the Friday night special - 9-00, Attack on Absalom.

Cool, hope you enjoyed the eclipse. We only had about 60% coverage here. Still pretty cool though.


So I'll say that with a little bargaining, Amir can get a ring of fire resistance 20 for 22K (half price). they just aren't valued here as most denizens are immune anyway.

As for Kzrira's weapon talk... yeah, I dont follow. just a set of mithril plate starts at over 10K...

I will note to Varkata that Kzrira has a +1 heavy shield which she can't use because she uses both hands for her bow.

check. I think you'll get diminishing returns on the armor front then. ring of protection +2, amulet of nat armor +2, are likely better options.


so other than heat shields for Amir, I'm guessing that we really don't need anything from the bazaar.

So, yes, I'll look for natural armour -- prioritize that over a Ring, since I can cast Shield of Faith for deflection (assuming we know we're going into combat).

Also -- did we decide to do the armour shuffle Kzrira laid out?


You could do the armor thing, but mithral plate starts at 10,650.

Actually, Varkata and Kzrira can swap armor. It will increase Varkata's AC by +1. Then, Kzrira can buy a +4 Belt of Dex (upgrade from +2?) This would be 16k (-2k), but she has close to enough to do this. With the mithral breastplate, Kzrira can use the full +6 from dex on her armor, whereas the +3 chainmail only allows +5 (including the +1 from armor training). The belt will also increase Kzrira's Reflex and attack by +1. Pretty much the same cost as the mithral plate, but gives more bonuses.


That's a better option i think.

Kzrira has the above which she really does not need. Total value is a little more than 19,000 (the big item being the great axe+2). If this were sold, we would have an additional 9650gp.

If the belt of dex +4 is available, and priced at the normal price (not sure if Amir can get any discounts), then Kzrira needs about 5,000 gold (she has 1600 in her pouch).

I agree that Amir seems to be a little behind on big items. In total, I have about 9k that can be chipped into Amir's ring (if Kzrira does not sell her current +2 belt of dex), will have to see what others have that can be sold.

If I were to also sell the Amulet of Elemental Strife, Kzrira is about 2k short for the Belt of Dex +4.

Bigger question is whether we have enough to also get Amir the Ring of Fire Resistance. It is vital fighting all the fire bad guys.

I do not know what Varkata and Karethas need. If Kzrira uses 2k of the money from the sale, I think that Amir still needs about 8k to get the ring.


I think that you're prety much there. Amir needs 14k for major ring and Kzrira needs a bit more for the belt. A little actual roleplay and bartering (remember Amir's ruby gets him a bonus) might help.


Honestly, I don't see how boosting Kzrira's AC is a big concern for the party: she's already got the best AC by a good margin and she's not even a front-liner.

I'd suggest focusing on bane arrows for Kzrira, fire resist for Amir and AC for Varkata.

At this point, since I've not heard lesser or greater attached to the beads, I'm assuming it's a mid-range set, which is: karma, healing, smiting (strange that only the lesser gives you blessing)... The smiting bead is a spell trigger, like a wand, so it's a Level 7 caster (3d8 damage) -- it'd *would* be 7d6 to evil outsiders... buuuuut... we're on their home plane.

All that to say, if we're very in need of money, the smiting bead could be sold -- it's quite valuable (i.e. - 16k range, retail). I'd be loathe to sell the whole set, because a +4 level boost to casting and a free cure serious (with the flexibility of blind/deaf and disease) are hard to give up [also, it doesn't say the healing bead is a spell trigger, so it might come at my level]

Given that Kzrira's primarily an archer, maybe it makes more sense to get her protection against ranged attacks? Something that activates an [i]Entropic Shield[i] would give her a 20% miss chance, and it also applies to rays, not just projectiles -- given that the spell is Cleric 1, I would think an item to do that should be pretty affordable. (I mean, yes, Fickle Winds would be better, but I'm trying to keep it in our price-range..)

Varkata looks up to peer at the amulet, but has nothing more to offer. Her continued digging turns up another item: a string of Sareaenite prayer beads.

spellcraft DC20: Hide
The holy item has two magical powers: once per day, a cleric can use the item to cast either cure serious wounds, remove blindness/deafness, or remove disease. The item also allows a cleric to channel positive energy into a weapon which imparts the effects of a bless weapon spell. The caster level is equal to number of dice rolled for the channel.

OK, let me clearly relate all the powers of the Ruby Seal here because I think some bits were lost in the posts.

This seal is a large ruby inscribed with dozens of spiraling arcane and magical sigils.

The bearer can speak and understand the fire elemental tongue- Ignan.

The bearer receives Fire Resistance 5.

The bearer gains a +5 competence bonus on Diplomacy/Intimidate/Sense Motive checks made against Efreet.

Language-dependent spells cast by the carrier of interpretation of secrets are enhanced — any Efreet that is targeted by such a spell suffers a –2 penalty on any saving throw to resist the effect of the spell.

dang, I just did some literal back of envelope calcs and everyone is fine on the old Wealth by Level chart. in fact, prob off the chart, but that's OK because I've been running y'all above level. just saying a little extra AC for Varkata and I think yall are fine.

btw Kzrira, do you really have nearly 1000 arrows? really? I seem to recall somewhat far less capacity in the old efficient quiver. here

I figured that she would have put groups of 20 arrows in the other chambers, since she does not have a pile of javelins or spears. Yes, they would take longer to access, but could easily be switched after a battle.

Also, any extra arrows could probably be carried by Amir in his Bag of Holding, since they do not weigh that much, and I am pretty sure that he has sufficient capacity.

If outsider(fire) bane arrows are really expensive, she will get outsider(evil), and hope for the best. The bow is Frost, so it still has a nice kick against fire creatures.


KZ- well, I don't think that you'll be running out of arrows. I'm guessing that the quiver has 15 evil bane, 15 fire bane, 15 cold iron, 15 silver, and 20 standard?

So I thought exploring the Grand Bazaar in the City of Brass might be more interesting, but without a lot of money maybe not. Where's Amir? You're in your element so to speak.

Varkata can just buy whatever she can afford. If there's no money for an amulet of nat armor, they're pretty common so I'm sure one will show up.

Otherwise, Amir will have to track down the bane arrows. just let me know who y'all are asking and give me a gather info check.

I figure that evil bane would be much easier to find than fire bane, since the fire arrows would hurt everyone here, and the evil bane would only effect a few (for instance those who have demon/devil blood in them).

At the very least we will swap armor. Gives you +1, and me -1. Makes you armor check penalty a little worse, but I think your armor check penalty is so bad that it does not make much difference.

Kzrira's sellable gear (+2 axe, slippers, shield, etc) is worth 18,300. If we sell it for 1/2, that is 9,150. I do not know whether our charismatic thief can get better than 50%, up to Voodoo.

Kzrira also has 1600 in gp in her pouch.

Thus, if she spends 8000 on 50 outsider(evil) bane arrows, this leaves at least 3650 that can be spent. Enough for at least a +1 cloak and a +1 amulet of natural armor for Varkata. I do not know how much Karethas or Amir have. Voodoo is showing 13,500 from the gear/gems that were sold.

If Kzrira buys 50 +1 outsider (fire or evil) bane arrows, that is 8000, plus 3000 (cloak +1 & amulet +1 for Varkata), then we have 14,150 toward Amir's ring.

Other possible thinks to sell
Karethas - Ring of the Ram (19) charges. Maybe worth 2000?
Karethas - Wand of Stone Shape (~6000), assuming it is wizard spell level

I do not see much for Amir to sell unless I am missing something. Karethas and Amir also have about 1000 gold each (including platinum).

Kzrira can buy less than 50 arrows, which would cut down on cost, but also cut down on her damage potential. (I hate that arrows are disposable, but that is life.)

Paizo did a big update and it apparently screwed stuff up. For instance, in the reporting for PFS, we reported the 9-03 and 9-05 scenarios, but it is showing up as 9-09 and 9-11 on the PFS reporting screens on my account. But, when I click on the link that says 9-09 or 9-11, it sends me to the 9-03 or 9-05 pages in the Paizo store.

I assume they will get it fixed, but it is frustrating.
