Faelar- I hadn't really put any thought into what the illustrated text you found at the mansion would be. Why don't you go ahead and decide what the story is, if you like. maybe something to share around the campfire.
Illustrated text? With those scum, undoubtedly something X-rated.
Kzrira Maiwith |
All you need is a story;
That is not too gory;
Talk about gnolls;
Piled high in holes;
Then about the prize;
That is sunrise;
Or the joy of hills;
And colorful fish with gills;
Perhaps paintings of light;
So that we can ignore this blight;
Poetry requires little skill;
Just avoid tales that kill.
Kzrira Maiwith |
Whadda ya mean, only the monsters communicate via poetry in Heart of Journeys, I am yet to hear the elf or Ulfen produce any quality prose. On the other hand, the ogre and goblin are indeed skilled. With the tiefling being a distant third and only getting acknowledge due to her pretty smile and threats to squish anyone who does not cheer with her 20 strength.
Faelar Braegen |
That was a hard one to reply to for me. Trying to play an intellectual character who is very book smart, but low wisdom. He has already spoken with some Gnolls and they didn't try to kill and eat him, the only bad thing that happened was the Gnoll urinating on my wagon. So he did not want to believe it, but it came from a book so its sources must be good.
Very difficult for him ... and me.

YEah interesting position to put us in Voodoo :-p
FYI my wife and baby are sick, if my posting is a little spotty this weekend I apologize.
Kzrira Maiwith |
Noticing that Amir is being a little unresponsive, we move his bedroll away from the rest of the group as an offering to the marauding gnolls so that we can all get a good night's sleep.
Take care of the family Amir, we will still be lost in the desert when you get back.
Amir Awad Hajjir |
1. Thank you for the well wishes.
2. Kzrira, beware vengeful rogue ghosts snapping your bow strings and tugging on your sword at the wrong moment! :-p
3. As to defending gnolls...well hopefully it will earn me a powerful gnoll bodyguard to help me live when all the uninformed and "evil" gnolls come to kill me. O: )
Amir Awad Hajjir |
I think this is more that the pack needs a clear alpha and the gnoll thinks its him. I think we probably need to set the record straight but we risk having him leave us if it goes sour...either that or we whip our mules to death which I personally have no interest in.
Amir Awad Hajjir |
And the super intelligent wizard asks a dumb question! I read good.
Lack of wisdom can reflect a lack of thoughtfullness even if intelligent. You are smart but spacey...too caught up in thinking of the meta-reactive relevance of bi-planar ether fluctuations on summon circle orientation dispersal to pay attention to things even you would obviously know ;-)
Kzrira Maiwith |
One word - iPhone - or we can let you off this time. It is the holidays, so most of us will probably be on and off anyway, I assume that posting will be a little light on most games.
Sheik Voodoo |
I've still got my ancient flip phone with about 2 days of battery life :P too cheap, poor for one o' them fancy phones.
currently living in an empty house a friend is trying to sell and hijacking a neighbors signal when i can get it. although spending 40 min trying to get on-line yesterday morning before work was ridiculous. i'll try hopping into libraries or borrowing friends wireless when I can but truth is i'm pretty much a homeless bastard until Jan :(
Karethas ibn Faradin |
Sorry to hear that you'll be in such straits for a while. It is totally understandable if things are spotty for a while.
Karethas ibn Faradin |
I'm horrible with names IRL and online, so I'm always scrolling up to find out how to spell someone's name in PBP's. If the person above me misspelled it...well then it continues with me :-).
Karethas ibn Faradin |
Don't take it personally in any case. I like your NPC's and find them interesting, but I just suck at remembering names. I do the same thing to real life DM's too.
Karethas ibn Faradin |
I assumed that Faelar had the wand of CLW because he does not need to make UMD rolls to use it. When we were on the road, it was worth using your own spells to heal the donkeys. Now that we are going to see action, I would use the wand to heal and the spells for other uses.
A question of my own for Voodoo. Did Karethas have time to craft scrolls when we were doing the forced march, and if so, how much time?
Karethas ibn Faradin |
Ok, Karethas only has enough money for 4 scrolls, so 1 of Charm Person, 2 of Endure Elements and 1 of Comprehend Languages.

So in February Paizo should be releasing Skull and Shackles the new AP about pirates. I love me some pirates so I most likely will have to try to play that AP but I think I will probably run it here on the boards too. Rather than do an open recruitment my intention is to limit the field to the players that I currently play with and see if I can cobble together a group from folks that I already know I enjoy playing with.
Anyway, there is some time yet but I wanted to let you know and you can get back to me if you think you might be interested. Ahoy!
Cap'n Voodoo |
with a name like PirateDevon, one would suspect. this little monkey couldn't wait for a pirate AP : )
i've been cutting back, but would LOVE to play a pirate- i've got a gnome conjurer with a gray parrot familiar named Smudge that would be a hoot to play. he was great fun for a short run in the river kingdoms, but he's been waiting for the shackles.
Kzrira Maiwith |
Sounds interesting, will have to think about what to play. I think a witch would be interesting as a pirate. Oops, you made me walk the plank, too bad I can breath under water. And I have to agree that having a parrot or some pirate bird as a familiar would be cool. perhaps a monkey.
Amir Awad Hajjir |
Well as an added bonus it is my intention to give the other DMs who run the games I am in first priority, a sort of GM for GM thank you program ;-)
Amir Awad Hajjir |
Back in 3.5 I hammered out some rules with a DM to use alternative casting requirements from Forgotten Realms and made a "salt wizard". Pirate wizard with a weird sea/druid bent. Had to use things like sea salt and driftwood in certain quantities or of certain rarities to replace expensive components. My familiar was a monkey, the range in my group who was my guard had a shark companion. Good times.

I am yet to try DMing, just not something that I have ever really done. Just started DMing my boys, ages 5 and 7. Other than that, I DMed one campaign in about 1984. I have been thinking about it, but need to get some more resources first, like a module or two and perhaps an AP.
Sheik Voodoo |
nice. I have a 'salty' wizard sidetrek I was going to drop on y'all, but I feel i've drawn out the actual start of the LoF AP too much as it is. : )
I may use it on my Zolurket group which is looking like they may never make it to Zolurket either- focus, Voodoo, focus ; )
Smudge, the parrot is fantastic as a comedic counterpoint and swears in 7 languages. "Bloody Bones! Bloody Bones!"
BTW- I just started a Sea Singer Bard Archetype as my PFS character- level 2 monkey familiar! Huzzah!
Faelar Braegen |
I would love to play in that sort of campaign. I don't know the class or race, but I will say that I have inspiration from my favourite pirate of all time : Guybrush Threepwood!
I am currently trying to GM a game, it is Curse of the Crimson Throne, but it is going very slowly as the players don't post that often and I like to give them a chance to roleplay.
Talking about GM'ing, Thank-you Voodoo for keeping this campaign going AND for making it so fun.
Karethas ibn Faradin |
I wasn't looking to the game specifically for LoF material, but for a fun, Arabian themed game. This has met those requirements quite well.
I would be interested in a pirate themed PBP, and one of the games I am in seems to be dying. I will definitely start thinking of a character in case you would have me.

Gettum while their young! My son is only 16 months and I wait like a tiger to pounce RPGs on him. My wife is horrified for him ;-)
I fell into DMing and kinda never looked back. Always had groups that no one else wanted to take the reins so if I wanted to play, that's how I had to do it. Coming onto PbP is the most chance I have had to play in a long time, and of course I ended up taking over a game a month in :P
I am digging this game plenty, like Karethas I just needed my Arabian hijinks itch scratched. If we take care of LoF on the way, well then that is nice too.
Kzrira Maiwith |
I just started playing about 6 months ago after a 20 year hiatus. I jumped into this one when I saw it was VooDoo as DM. So far it has been one of the more interesting campaigns. Never fast, but also never slow. I have other campaigns with great players where there will be 25 posts in a day, and then nothing for 2 days. Always feels weird waiting, I have a habit of posting strange comments when things slow down too much such as this from Heart of Journeys.

well maybe not as interesting as heart of journeys...
yeah, i like keeping it steady. to be honest, ZZ's games tire me out trying to keep up. seems like even he has had to slow it up a touch lately.
