Congrats to all on 8k, only 2k more and we hit the magic 5 digits.

Pretty sure this is my 2nd longest and 3rd most posts. One had about 14k posts, in only 18 months, and DM Harpwizard's campaign is about 3 months older than this and just passed 11k posts.

The amazing thing with this game is that we are still 3 of the 4 original players and the original DM, that is probably a record on these boards the way players, and DMs, appear and disappear at random.

I kinda wondered if Proteans would even have a True Name being all chaos and found this in the Monster Summoner's Handbook:

That rather depends on whether Voodoo is enforcing the massive nerfing that the errata did to Abundant Ammunition, such that it no longer works on special materials.

I will be make use of this 3pp supplement if you have any further interest.

It's mainly about flying cavalier archetypes, but the optional aerial combat rules are nice. You don't need it, I'll tell you what you need to know, but I found it a nicely done supplement.

Kzrira- been over this before. Hover check required for a full attack while flying. You cannot 5' step up because ascending is a double move, but you may just stay on platform and 5' step away.

Then she will 5-foot step away. I figured that with Fly in effect, she would pretty much be hovering just about the ground since it is magical flight.


The spell is fly not air walk. You must maintain minimum air speed to stay aloft just as if you were flying with wings.

The description of Locate Creature says you can locate a specific kind of creature if you have seen one within 30ft. Which we did when we met with the other proteans.

Type refers to general category: Humanoid, Aberration, Outsider, etc. That is how it is referred to in the Beastiary. It is not perfectly clear, but kind would seem to indicate race, species or whatever.

That's my reading: you can't look for Outsiders, but could locate Proteans.

Proteans (demons, devils, archons, etc.) make things messy.

I mean, I knew I could search for a human (for example) because that's the actual kind -- whereas, my reading was I could do, for instance, "Balor", but not "Demon" (because demon is a subtype).

Having said that, going with what works. :)

hmmm, good point. Protean is more a genus than species. 'Kind' is really rather unclear. Nonetheless, I'm pretty ready to wrap up this book so all for letting it slide.


actually, now that I think about it- you were looking for the same kind of Protean that you spoke to before; an imentesh protean to be specific.
