The ruined monastery is exactly one of those places parents warn their children about. I wonder why...

Liberty's Edge

I should have mentioned - the hallway is wide, and there is an empty barrel next to the arrow slit. It looks like something once stood near the door, too - the floor is somewhat discolored there.

The door creaks open, revealing a room larger than your light can completely reach. There are dusty shelves lining the walls, supporting quite an assortment of things - the most common being scrolls and books.

There are small tables as well, the ones on the left side, inclined. A single candle sheds light in the distance, next to one, where a shadowy figure pores over an ancient tome. Though the figure no doubt notices the torchlight, it remains transfixed on the pages before it.

For now.

"Imma stay back here..." Sakuro whispered quietly, having no desire to approach the figure. It probably had all kinds of nasty magic up its sleeves, and she saw no reason to become a target.

She did, however, remain just in range for spellcasting in case she needed to support any of her friends.

Elven eyes (low-light), DC 15 Perception:
There are other figures, in the darkness, in silhouette - darker than the shadow they stand in. They're roughly human sized, and completely motionless.

Antonio froze at the doorway, then backed up, shucked his pack, dug out his waterskin of mythic water and took a healthy couple of swallows.
"There are more of them in the back, nothing but black outlines in the dark."
Thus fortified with the mythic fire running through his veins again, he took up his torch and crossbow, and entered the room.
Raising his torch for maximum visibility, he approached the figure reading the tome while still scanning the area for threats.

Reiko nods, and takes a drink of his own mythic water. He then nods, and slides the blade of his katana across his forearm, drawing blood. His eyes begin to tinge crimson, and he strides forward to stand beside Antonio.
Be ready. This might get nasty.

Liberty's Edge

The figure pays no attention until people have come almost halfway across the room.

Yes? What is it this time? The voice is soft, dusty and dry, but possesses authority. The figure turns a little, exposing something of the face of an older man. His robe is quite different from the robes of the cultists, being dull black with arcane symbols in a light gray stitched on it.

I don't recall your faces. You don't belong here. Morte'aludin; kill.

There's a rustling in the shadows, but by now, you can see them more clearly - two black suits of armor step out, accompanied by a hollow sound, as if the wind was lightly playing across an open jug, and scraping.

Is the room too small for Reiko to cast Mythic Enlarge Person? It would jump him up to huge.

Liberty's Edge

It's too low a ceiling for that, maybe 13' or 14'.

Things to consider - the room is pretty wide, but very long. There are shelves going up all the walls to maybe 2' shy of the ceiling. There are a number of small tables and chairs, with aisles between them. By the time you get into the room, you can see a door on the right wall, about midway, and a row of them in back.

The specific always overrules the general. Any abilities that contradict the general wording of the spell will work. That was just the wording of the spell, cut and pasted, as I figured others might be affected. Don't forget, though, "This ability doesn't apply to spells of the highest spell level you can cast."

It's easy to do as Nia said; Antonio screams as he moves forward until he is just to the right of the rightmost knights armor, drawing his rapier along the way.
He lashed out at it.
rapier attack: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 2 = 23 for a possible 1d6 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 2 = 5 piercing damage.
...Crit confirm?: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 7 - 2 = 17 for a possible extra 1d6 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 2 = 5 piercing damage.
He then used a Mythic Surge to Surprise Strike the knight armor, Immediately move around into flank with Reiko on the opposite side and attack, bypassing all DR.
Mythic Surprise Strike rapier attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 - 2 = 25 for a possible 1d6 + 4 - 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 4 - 2 + (2, 4) = 9 piercing and precision damage, and bypassing all DR.
...Crit confirm?: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 - 2 = 21 for a possible extra 1d6 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 2 = 5 piercing damage.

You call this pain! I'll show you pain when I rip you out of your own skin!

He swings his katana at the armor Antonio didn't perforate.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Damage: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Attack of Opportunity From Earlier: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Damage: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

Sorry should have said that OOC before. To give you guys a heads up. The spell states you have to use at least a move action screaming. It's either that or take the -2 to everything for that round. If you scream, no negative.

So Antonio, one of those attacks won't count Normally but I have you covered With Decisive Strike so your first attack will do what is described below with a +1 Bonus to attack

Decisive Strike (Su): As a swift action, you can expend one use of mythic power to give one ally within 30 feet the ability to immediately make a single melee or ranged attack on your turn. Add your tier as a bonus on the attack roll. The damage dealt by this attack bypasses all damage reduction. This attack doesn't count toward the ally's actions on its turn.

Nia'Nikta frowns and grabs her wineskin drinking from it quickly as she felt the sudden surge of energy wash through her. A quick moment and she sends her power surging into Reiko using her decisive strike.

"Sakuro, can you do something about that caster?"

By the way GM The Dancing lights are in a diamond shape around us 10 feet from each other and shed light like a torch

Liberty's Edge

Ok, this round, so far - Reiko cuts deep into the armor, and something ectoplasmic streams out, fading in the darkness. The armor clatters to the floor, lifelessly.

The other one jerks its sword toward the enlarged form in an attempt to finish Reiko -

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 for a possible: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 damage.

In his soft, slightly hoarse voice, the old man intones another spell, and shimmers momentarily.

Antonio, seeing his moment, makes a quick jab into the other suit of armor, sending his rapier straight through the weak point under the arm, and sees the tip emerge from the far side, beneath the gorget. Again, something viscous flows out and quickly fades, as the armor slides off of the slim sword.

A scowl crosses the old man's face, and me momentarily focuses on something unseen before turning back to you all.

Damn you, those were unreplaceable...unlike my wolves.

That mythic surprise strike is a quick action - no problem.

Sakuro's response was a pained scream. With her hand shaking, she shakily pointed at the wizard with her ring, then sent out a bolt of black energy. It... appeared to be remarkably accurate, actually. Maybe the screaming had helped.

Using her Arcane Bond Ring to cast Ray of Enfeeblement from Aya's Spellbook.
