Shards of the Titanswar

Game Master EldonG

The ruined monastery is exactly one of those places parents warn their children about. I wonder why...

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

"Watch it that big fish looks hungry." She called out sliding her whip over her shoulder and reaching for her bow then.

Sakuro considered things for a moment, then shrugged and stayed where she was, continuing to defend.

I thought about Wild Arcana'ing a Magic Missile to hit them, but then I remembered this game has a thing about not accessing our mythic powers, and I don't think Sakuro has any of that water. XD; So... not much else I can do.

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

If you need some Nia' Has some that she will give to you. She believes its for you hero's anyways.

Eh, keep it. XD Honestly, with the cultists on the run, I feel like it's better to save our (limited) supply for truly important matters. No need to waste it on minor stuff. ^^

"Almost... got it..." Antonio said, reaching out towards the boat. He is on the edge of toppling over into the water if he misses.

Liberty's Edge

Antonio can definitely reach the little boat you came in, but not the one heading for the broken out window frame - it's at least 20 feet away.

There's agitated splashing in the water, but no nibbling, as of yet.

Your size is probably keeping it away - that's a good sign. It's probably not magicked in any way. Nala watches from the relative safety of the boat. The captain and boys look at her, and he nods, but still keeps a nervous eye on the splashes of the giant fish.

Male Human Rogue (Unchained, Swashbuckler) L2 | AC19 (T14F15) CMD16 | HP 17/17 | Saves F1R7W-2 | Percep +2 | Init: +4 | Status: OK

"Well shoot." Antonio commented as he realized he wasn't going to catch them. Though he was secretly relieved at not needing to kill.
He waded back ashore.
"I say let 'em go. Let the storm judge whether they live or die.
"We still have to explore this place. Can we declare victory yet?"
He asked, looking around at the battlefield.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Liberty's Edge

Antonio's sharp eyes find no other enemies in the eerily flickering light - one of the dogs barks once, then whimpers, apparently failing in its attempt to be brave.

Male Human Rogue (Unchained, Swashbuckler) L2 | AC19 (T14F15) CMD16 | HP 17/17 | Saves F1R7W-2 | Percep +2 | Init: +4 | Status: OK

Too big to search the bodies, Antonio looked around for entrances that lead deeper into the structure.
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Liberty's Edge

There are the doors the cultists came out of - you've seen into the simple cells where they obviously at least sleep - there are the large, sturdy double doors in the middle at the end, apparently leading into the front tower, and there's the door at the end of the walkway, in back, apparently leading into the large section offset and behind the main temple.

Liberty's Edge

Antonio:
In places, the floor is very uneven - you've only just felt it - it was maybe a stone? It's under about 10 feet of water, so it's not visible.

Female Human Arcanist 4/Arch. 1 | HP: 35/35 | AC: 13, T: 13, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +4, Will: +6 | BAB: +2, CMB: +4, CMD: 17 | Init: +9, Perception: +6 |

"Let's not get overconfident. Also, thataway." Sakuro said, pointing over to the door at the end of the walkway. "I feel like it would be better to look around before we go through those big doors."

Male Human Rogue (Unchained, Swashbuckler) L2 | AC19 (T14F15) CMD16 | HP 17/17 | Saves F1R7W-2 | Percep +2 | Init: +4 | Status: OK

A puzzled look comes over Antonio's face.
"What is... Just a second fellows. I felt something underfoot." He said.
Setting his torch ashore, he reached down underwater. He ducked down under the surface and felt around his foot.

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

Nia would watch the cultists leave and frowns but understands. She looked at the boat captain. "Thank you for standing firm."

She would resling her bow and whip before crawling over the railing. "What did you find?"

Liberty's Edge

Antonio:
Broken stone. More as you reach out toward the center of the room - some large chunks - too big to lift, some smaller.

Male Human Rogue (Unchained, Swashbuckler) L2 | AC19 (T14F15) CMD16 | HP 17/17 | Saves F1R7W-2 | Percep +2 | Init: +4 | Status: OK

Antonio pulls up one broken stone after another to the surface, where he examined them briefly before dropping them with disappointment. He does this for a couple of rounds before quitting in disgust.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
"Nothing. Just broken rocks.
"Alright then, let's see what's behind this door."
He said as he went to check the simple cell doors first, saving the double doors for last.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Female Human Arcanist 4/Arch. 1 | HP: 35/35 | AC: 13, T: 13, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +4, Will: +6 | BAB: +2, CMB: +4, CMD: 17 | Init: +9, Perception: +6 |

Sakuro followed along, keeping towards the back of the group to help her stay out of danger. She was good at magic, not taking axe blows to the face. Knowing one's limits was the first sign of wisdom.

...

...Although nobody who knew her very well was likely to assume she'd finish acquiring wisdom.

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

Nia would help examine the cells before heading to the dogs pulling out some of her meat and crouching. "Let's see if you guys can be rehabilitated." She murmurs cooing softly and giving them the food.

Moving to the final door after the cell check. The one that led to the side wing and if it was open looking down the hall. If not, scanning for magic before trying the door.

Liberty's Edge

Some of the stones have an obviously sculpted side, though it's impossible to see how they might fit together.

As you approach a dog, he backs away, alternately growling and whimpering, though he watches the meat intently.

Off in the distance, you're losing the sound of the boat paddles in the rain, and by the time you've all made it around the walkways to the door, the boat it totally lost to the night. The door is old, but still looks sturdy.

Male Human Rogue (Unchained, Swashbuckler) L2 | AC19 (T14F15) CMD16 | HP 17/17 | Saves F1R7W-2 | Percep +2 | Init: +4 | Status: OK

Noticing at the last that the broken rock was more shaped than he first thought. He still didn't comprehend what it might be... or once was though.
"Hey Sakuro! Check this out!" He said, tossing the broken rock to her.

Female Human Arcanist 4/Arch. 1 | HP: 35/35 | AC: 13, T: 13, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +4, Will: +6 | BAB: +2, CMB: +4, CMD: 17 | Init: +9, Perception: +6 |

Dexterity: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Sakuro reached out, but the rock landed with a heavy thud by her feet. She gave Antonio a Look before bending down to reach it. "'Sup?" she asked as she examined it a little more carefully, checking for magic at the same time. (...It was a habit, okay?)

Taking 10 (+5) on Perception.

Liberty's Edge

Sakuro:
No magic lingers on the stone, but it's easy to see that a surface of the stone was shaped, smoothed, and polished before it was shattered.

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

She would gently set the meat down as she waited for the others.

"I wish sometimes I had a gift with animals but not yet. Maybe with time I can figure it out."

Female Human Arcanist 4/Arch. 1 | HP: 35/35 | AC: 13, T: 13, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +4, Will: +6 | BAB: +2, CMB: +4, CMD: 17 | Init: +9, Perception: +6 |

"But seriously, it's a rock. What am I supposed to be looking at?" Sakuro asked, looking up at Antonio.

Male Human Rogue (Unchained, Swashbuckler) L2 | AC19 (T14F15) CMD16 | HP 17/17 | Saves F1R7W-2 | Percep +2 | Init: +4 | Status: OK

"Hey, don't give me that look if you fumble a catch!
"As to the rock, I thought I saw carvings on one side and I wondered if you could tell if it was religious, mystical or just artistic. If it was important, I felt a bunch more of those rocks underfoot. Maybe we could try to reassemble it."
Antonio said, still working his way through a basic search of the cells.

Liberty's Edge

Searching the cells will take a little time, though there's not too much in each - Antonio does start going through them - how much time and energy would the group like to spend on them?

Male Human Rogue (Unchained, Swashbuckler) L2 | AC19 (T14F15) CMD16 | HP 17/17 | Saves F1R7W-2 | Percep +2 | Init: +4 | Status: OK

I wasn't going for a detailed search, just look in, check under the bunk, open the cabinets, just to see if there was anything obvious; like books, secret plans, magic stuff, money.

Liberty's Edge

I get that - there's over a dozen of them, though. That won't take too long - they're simple - but it will take maybe 30 sec. each, for one person.

Female Human Arcanist 4/Arch. 1 | HP: 35/35 | AC: 13, T: 13, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +4, Will: +6 | BAB: +2, CMB: +4, CMD: 17 | Init: +9, Perception: +6 |

Sakuro raised an eyebrow, but examined the carvings again.

Checking the stone (Taking 10?) with her Knowledges, I guess. XD

Liberty's Edge

You could imagine the stone as being a part of a broken sculpture - religious statue comes to mind, as the building was a monastery.

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

While Antonio is looking at the cells she would move to the double doors and scans it with detect magic before listening at the door to see if she heard any movement.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Then she would move back to the door way that leads further in. "Is everyone ready?"

Male Human Rogue (Unchained, Swashbuckler) L2 | AC19 (T14F15) CMD16 | HP 17/17 | Saves F1R7W-2 | Percep +2 | Init: +4 | Status: OK

Assuming nothing found in the cells, Antonio waited for the others to set up, then nodded at Nia to open the door.

Female Human Arcanist 4/Arch. 1 | HP: 35/35 | AC: 13, T: 13, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +4, Will: +6 | BAB: +2, CMB: +4, CMD: 17 | Init: +9, Perception: +6 |

Sakuro kept her magic ready, just in case she needed to fling it out at any slavering monstrosity that came through the door. Other than that, though, she was as ready as she was going to be.

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

Nia would nod and scans the door (if not already open) for traps then uses magic to see any is on it before opening the door going into the side area.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Liberty's Edge

I was kind of hoping for an answer to my question - you won't find a lot of value, but there are minor things. The last doors on either side open into linen closets, actually, for what it's worth.

Nia:
There are no traps you can discern, nor do you sense any magic. The door is well-worn, as if it sees regular use, but then, this place is ancient!

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

I think the answer is right now not much time. Probably on the way out we may spend more time on it.

Nia'nikta would pull out her shield and have it at the ready as she opened the door cautiously.

Liberty's Edge

No problem.

The door creaks open into a dark hallway. Soft, almost indiscernible sounds drift in the distance, muffled by the rain. What light sources do people have?

Low light vision, or light sources:
There's the darker shadow of a door not far away, to the left, and it looks like the hall might turn left after a distance. There are shadowy alcoves to the right.

If need be, Sakuro can quick-memorize Light for the group.

Oh dear My post isn't here.

Nia drew her shield and would pull out her whip. Waiting for Antonio to motion it is clear before moving forward.

She was prepared to back him up as her eyes looked down the end.

Liberty's Edge

The alcove proves to be an arrow slit, narrowing toward the outside wall, where it's maybe three or four inches across.

Sorry guys. Spent the week doing inventory and then doctors appointments for the demonspawn that's coming. Yep, I have a little one on the way. Was kind of a shock considering that I've been told I was sterile for the last ten years. Should be semi normal now though.

Reiko draws his katana, and casts light on it. He then stays in the back of the group, keeping the less martially inclined members in front of him. He offers Sakuro a slight grin.
Worry not. I'll stay here so you aren't caught in an ambush from behind.

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

Nia'nikta would motion towards the door. "Let us start with that door. I will cover you as you check it out and open it."

Liberty's Edge

The well-worn door isn't as sturdy as the one leading into the hall, but it still seems quite solid. Nothing seems particularly out of the ordinary about it, and if there are any sounds from beyond, the door muffles them well.
