Not sure how that is working out. The rules say you can use your fortune to do one of these:
• When the result of a d20 roll is a failure, you can expend Fortune to turn the failure into a success.
• When another player rolls a d20, you can expend Fortune to grant 2 boons to the roll.
• When any player (including you) rolls a d6, you can expend Fortune to replace the number on the die with a 6.
It does not specify with what roll you succeed.

bookrat |

Oh does fortune make your roll a 20? I used fortune for my attack with the scroll before, does that mean the scroll isn't expended?
It just makes it succeed. There's no number associated with it.
When you used your Fortune, I just had your attacking succeed regardless of what you rolled the second time.
Regarding the map - I've tried my cut and paste trick, which worked last time for everyone. I don't know why it doesnt work this time. I wonder if it's just an issue uploading to Google Drive and the reason you can eventually see it is because it eventually uploads.
I'll try trimming the photos to make them smaller - that may help.

I am feeling much better today, thank you. Woke up early as well, thanks to going to sleep so early yesterday.
Huzzah for us all surviving! I apologize for my wall of text, I just had some scenes that I wanted to get out of the way really quickly to setup my ascension into playing a Priest! Cynerik is definitely feeling like a Paladin at the moment but we'll see how things go.
I'm going to be doing the leveling up right now but I figured trying to turn ourselves into an adventuring party would make good sense. What do you guys think?
EDIT: So I am looking over the three Traditions I get access to; Celestial, Life, and Theurgy. Truly, Life and Theurgy are calling to me at the moment. Life would be really good for keeping us up and moving but Theurgy has some excellent buffs as well. What do you all think?
EDIT EDIT: Nevermind. I just read the Priest more in detail. I'm going to take them both and get one spell in each.

EDIT EDIT: Nevermind. I just read the Priest more in detail. I'm going to take them both and get one spell in each.
This part can get a bit confusing, and I've done a bit of searching and asking to get it all figured out.
Here's how gaining magic at this level works:
You start with one Tradition. When you learn a new Tradition, you automatically gain one Zero level spell.
From there, you get two choices. With each choice, you may choose to learn a new spell up to your power level (so level 0 or level 1), or you may learn a new Tradition (gaining a free level 0 spell).
You've gained two Traditions, and get two level 0 spells, one in each. Now you have one more choice: learn the third tradition, or gain a single spell (level 0 or 1) in one of the Traditions you already know.
Note: Priests are limited in the Traditions they can learn based on their religion. Mages are only limited to the Traditions they discover in game, but I left an opening so you guys can pick whichever Traditions you would like.

Brinda will be taking a level in Magician, learning (at this stage) the Enchantment and Shadow traditions. I think. I love the idea of Shadow, but it is a bit crap :) I'll still probably take it though. Happy for any feedback or guidance from you, bookrat (or anyone else). I'll get the details worked out in the next 24 hours.

bookrat |

Thanks to Brinda for bringing to my attention my flawed explanation above. That is for Priests only.
Mages are slightly different, as they get Four Choices, and for each choice they can gain a Tradition or a Spell. Remember that every time you Discover a Tradition, you automatically gain one 0 Level spell. Mages also gain an additional 0 level spell when they learn a new Tradition, granting them two 0 level spells.

As for the loot...
If we assume that 1 silver shilling = 1, then the total of our treasure is 25.51 silver shillings. Divide that by 7 and we come up with...
3 silver shillings, six copper pieces, and four bits per person. Not a bad haul. That is, of course, if we can get a buyer for the silver cup. Otherwise, our total is 15.51 and the total is...
2 silver shillings, 2 copper pieces, and two bits for each of us.

Cynerik Salt |

Alrighty, I'm all happy with my spells. I took Minor Healing because...well...healing is great and we like to not die. Create Holy Symbol is not as potent as Denounce but I think it'll be more powerful if Cynerik survives to higher levels. The benefits it gives could be useful for Theurgy attacks.
Blessing, I think, is pretty damn awesome and powerful. If we know that we're going into an awful fight, it can give us quite the boost of power.

T.A.S. |

It took me all evening to read through all the traditions and spells and now I ran out of time to post an update :(
I will go for the Air and Battle tradition as they make most sense for T.A.S. experience with the bow. I think I'll get a third one as well but I can't decide what makes sense and might be helpful. Thought about some utility for the group but it all seems pretty mediocre until higher levels?
I'll try to post my update tomorrow morning.

Sköllji |

lol Took me like 3 seconds to level. Huzzah for non magic classes.
I took Rogue. No choices to make except stats and profession. Took +1 STR and +1 INT. Also grabbed the Wilderness: Barbarian profession.
Was looking at classes for the future and I stumbled on something. "Mighty Thews You add your Strength modifier to the
damage rolls of attacks you make using basic, military,
and heavy weapons."
I thought you always did that. Guess not.

Kandl V'ne |

Kandl is taking the Warrior Novice class, with the following adjustments:
+1 to Agility and Strength
+5 Health
Gaining the Soldier Martial Profession
Gaining the following special abilities:
Catch Your Breath: You can use an action or a triggered action on your turn to heal damage equal to your healing rate. Once you use this talent, you cannot use it again until after you complete a rest.
Weapon Training: When attacking with a weapon, you make the attack roll with 1 boon.

Sköllji |

Also got these.

Current money everyone should have gained from the battle:
72 bits
5 copper pennies
1 silver shilling
Remaining (Party pool? Donation to support Mary and Jericho?)
6 bits
5 copper pennies
4 silver shillings
The town doesn't have a currency exchange, and no one here is rich enough to buy a 1 gold crown fancy silver cup. These folk all deal in bits and copper pennies, so even a sword worth 5 silver shillings is a treasure trove to them.
I'll be doing an update later today. Still haven't heard anything from Slugoth since the end of the battle. Not sure if he's still with us. No word on level up, or after battle posts, or anything.
Now would be a good time to bow out if anyone wants to. It fits the story rather well.

Slugoth |

I am still here just working on stuff sorry
Slugoth updates:
Warrior 1
+1 str, +1 int, +5 health 17HP
+ Profession, Military- Patroller
+ Catch Your Breath: You can use an action or a triggered action on your turn to heal damage equal to your healing rate.
+ Weapon Training: When attacking with a weapon attack with 1 boon.

Hey bookrat, could I ask you to check out my shadow cantrip Nightfall Blade? Can I use the conjured weapas my main hand weapon? I've no interest in dual wielding. I'll probably swap it out next level anyhow.
