Gresham Elmaleh |

Gresham looks at Alessandra. "Captain, this is a locathah. She says that the sahuagin pplan to eat or enslave her hatchlings." Here he gestures to the orbs throughout the chamber.
He addresses the locathah in Aquan, "The entrance we used is not suitable to one in, ah, your present condition. We have not yet found an underwater exit from these caverns, though I posit that there must be one as several sahuagin and their sharks attacked our vessel. Perhaps you should remain here in safety, and we will return for you once we have located an appropriate exit?"

Grymp |

Before Alessandra responds, dare I ask how you're communicating with her under water? Speaking Aquan under water is a no brainer, to me, so no problem speaking with the locathah.
The locathah responds, "But, what if the sahuagin destroy you, and then come and find me again? They will torture me more, oh the horror." She shivers, but seems resigned to accept your suggestion.

Gresham Elmaleh |

I presumed that if creatures who can breathe underwater can cast spells underwater, then creatures who can breathe underwater can also speak underwater.

Gresham Elmaleh |

(Aquan) "Madam, perhaps you would prefer to take your own life rather than be recaptured? I am sure we could loan you a dagger if you wish."
Gresham nods at Chaenath's suggestion and swims in that direction, presumably with the rest of the group.

Grymp |

Alright, so coming down the tunnel you come into a very large cavern...
The water in this cavern is murky with the haze of fresh blood, and gobbets of flesh float in the water.
There are three Sahuagin combatants here, and a number of non combatants (young and ages).
You quickly dispatch the three, and the rest disperse to other areas.
You find the remains of a meal that consists of 6 locathah and 5 giant moray eels.
You came in from the NE. There are seaweed like curtains covering passageways heading N, SE, S, Additionally there are passageways to the W and NW.

Gresham Elmaleh |

Gresham looks to his companions to pick a direction, and swims in the direction indicated by Chaenath.

Alessandra |

Right, I'm back in this.
Alessandra shrugs. "North's as good as any." Her blood is burning. After seeing what those shark-things did to the mother, she feels a powerful urge to kill as many as she can.
The half-orc girl's own mother was murdered by a 'patron' - she tracked him down and split him open. She feels a similar rage building now.

![]() |

"Sure, might as well go north fer now. We can always come back..."
The magic giving Rogar the powers to swim like a fish has already waned, and now the dwarf settles for moving underwater just like his ancestors intended - both feet firmly on the sea bottom.

Grymp |

Alright, the "curtain" to the north opens up into a 15'x10' cavern that is filled with roughly three dozen sahuagin...
...but only the very old and the very young.

Gresham Elmaleh |

I can't fail to get a 10.
"These sahuagin are malnourished, Captain. I do not believe they pose a threat to us. I recommend we proceed to another passage."

Gresham Elmaleh |

Gresham swims in the direction indicated by Chaenath, presumably with Alessandra, Rogar, and Mr. Spleen.

Grymp |

You swim roughly 30; down the corridor, which opens up into a cavern.
dragon worth 20gp.
If the Perception check is made by anyone, then you can...
There is a seaweed curtain that covers the passageway leading out of this chamber towards the south.
Presumably you will head on into the next chamber, so...
This room swarms with sahuagin fingerlings and newly hatched sahuagin fry. The seaweed curtains in this room are thick enough to generally keep these hatchlings contained and prevent them from wandering loose through the lair. also within this room is a large, ancient looking sahuagin female.
You have surprised her, as she was tending the brood, so let's have some surprise actions.

Gresham Elmaleh |

[dice=Take 1 Perception w/heightened awareness]1 + 15 + 2 + 1d6[/dice]
[dice=Take 1 Knowledge (religion) w/heightened awareness]1 + 14 + 2 + 1d6[/dice]
Gresham takes a moment to emulate the kirin, then charges the sahuagin.
Swift action to enter Kirin Style, standard action to partial charge in the surprise round.
Nodachi w/Combat Expertise & charge: 1d20 + 9 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 1 + 2 = 30 damage: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Crit confirm Nodachi w/Combat Expertise & charge: 1d20 + 9 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 9 - 1 + 2 = 24 damage: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
When we roll initiative he'll trigger his heightened awareness for a +4 bonus to initiative.

Grymp |

Gresham's hit is indeed a crit, and while she's in bad shape, she's not down yet!
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Success!!!
Doc and Alessandra?

![]() |

Doc taps the chitinous shell of his familiar, and points towards the sahuagin. Upon command, Mister Spleen charges towards the ancient fish-woman, snapping its claws viciously.
Partial charge
Mr.Spleen: Claw, charge: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 2 = 21
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Grab: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 2 = 25
Constrict damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
The dwarf himself just swims closer, looking for a way to get into flanking position.

Grymp |

Mr. Spleen casually finishes off the Sahuagin Matron!
Alright, that ends this trail of the corridor. Gresham found the loot and made the Knowledge check, so that's all handled.
If we back up to the large room with multiple exits.
They were:
You came in from the NE. There are seaweed like curtains covering passageways heading N, SE, S, Additionally there are passageways to the W and NW.

Gresham Elmaleh |

Let me know when my 10 minutes of heightened awareness have run out, and I'll spend another wand charge.
Gresham once again looks to Chaenath to pick a direction.

Grymp |

Random: 1d100 ⇒ 94 AWAKE!
Ok, the corridor opens up to be roughly 30' wide. You are not able to tell how deep the room is, as the whole place is overgrown with seaweed from the beds that you can see growing. At 5' from you there is 20% concealment, and beyond 10' it is 100% concealment. The whole room is considered rough terrain.
You can see three sahuagin warriors in the seaweed, they are startled as they go about their usual chores.
Surprise actions?

Gresham Elmaleh |

Gresham emulates the kirin and swims forward with Alessandra.

![]() |

Mister spleen joins the advance group, swimming effortlessly alongside the land-creatures. Meanwhile, Rogar waits for the others to engage before deciding his own battle plans.

Grymp |

As you come into the room, the nearest sahuagin are 20' away, and 5' into the obscuring seaweed, so they have 20% concealment.
Ok, so Chaenath, everyone else moved forward, what's your plan?

Grymp |

Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 Fail
Ok, so Spleen, Alessandra, and Gresham have all swam into melee, with S1-S3 respectively shall we say?

Gresham Elmaleh |

If none of my other allies threaten S5 then its attack will miss due to my Artful Dodge feat.
