Cathryn looks for a rope or something she can use so they can safely try to open the door from a distance.

While she does, she muses on the difference between intelligence and wisdom.

"Here."
Beorin passes Cathryn a rope.

She'll tie the rope to the door so that we can open it safely from a distance.

Tariq points his crossbow at the door as Cathryn opens it.

Cathryn pulls the door open from a distance. It requires some strength, but it's not a problem at all for the half-orc. The air in this room smells stale. A pile of rocks sits on the dustcovered floor in one corner of the room. The door on the south wall is bent slightly inward.

Survival 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
"A human sized footprint, I spot. Also rocks don't order themselves naturally. What do the rest of you think?"

"Good eye! I think we are dealing with kobolds, and should be extra careful about everything! After all, the little buggers have probably trapped everything..."

"Then I suggest that I go first before any of you, and that before I take a single step, I check the floor with my scythe first, then take one step, and check again. Better my scythe trigger a trap than me, or any of you."

"Makes sense." admits the dwarf.

So then, that is what Cathryn will do. She will lead, but will test the ground before her with the wooden end of her scythe before she steps on it. It may take time, but it's safer than trap damage.

Cathryn moves closer to the pile slowly, checking the floor for traps. Under the rocks of the pile she finds a satchel containing a journal, two wands and two potions. The journal is written in Sharrowsmith's handwriting.

Journal

Irisus read the note. "Few weeks? It been months since Nieford started his expédition. I fear something." He looks at the wands. wands? Nieford is a magic user? It maybe selfish but I hope he have strange new spell to lend to me. Irisus will try to identify the wands.
Take 10 (18) of spellcraft for the two wand. If there a problem he will use his scroll of identify.

Same take 10 for the potion (18) but if he can't. He don't use his scroll.

"Boys, I found something," Cathryn remarks, alerting the men as she collects the note and the wands and potions. "Wands and potions. Yes, I know what those are. Grandmother made them. But I couldn't guess what they do, or what he's doing with them. Could be stolen, or the spoils of battle."

She listens as Irisus reads the note.

"Yes. The note raises all kinds of questions for me as well."

She will then search the place again, this time looking for evidence that may give us an idea of when the last person (other than us) was here.

Taking ten results in twelve.

I'm afraid Spellcraft is the only exception to taking 10/20 and aid another.

While Irisus tries to identify the items Cathryn searches the room for further evidence, but does not find any. The humanoid boot prints could be the size of a dwarven boot and are several weeks old.

spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

spell craft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

"Dwarven boot? Shadowsmith.. Shadowsmith! " exclaim Irisus." Am so stupid, this explain his obsession. He's a dwarf. Shadowmith is a dwarf. "
The wizard seem pretty excited of his discovery.

Why Aya didn't mention that? It explain why he was the only one who heard about this. He is probably a descendant of those dwarfs or he heard about it. The prestige of finding it first. He's like Thurd! "

"Oh and this wand heal, i don't know for the other. I could use a spell to identify it."

Tariq moves up to the door and listens intently for anything for several moments. T10 +5 = 15

Tariq examines the door carfully. There are no traps installed, but it seems to be blocked from the other side.

Any way for me to try and open it from this side?

"...." Beorin stays silent, his thoughts more on the temple that is mentioned in the notes left behind.

And irisus seem to have his head in the sky.

Tariq moves away most of the rubble, opens the door and sees another large pile of rubble on the other side.

Knowledge(Dungeoneering): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13.

"The cave-in wasn’t completely accidental — there are tool marks in the ceiling. We could probably climb the rubble, but it may be dangerous to do so. Perhaps we should investigate an alternative route?"

"Or we could use our ropes,Knot it and secure it to make it easier for us." Beorin shows his own rope.

"First though is how far down?" he cracks a grin, feeling completely at ease to be climbing down a shaft.

Pointing to the western door, Tariq says "I am inclined to investigate other options first and come back to this as needed."

Tariq sneaks out the door into the hallway and takes a quick look into the opposite room.

Stealth T10 + 8 = 18

Cathryn nods. She would have liked to try to climb the rubble, but the wiser course would be to try to find another way.

"Tempting as it is to follow him directly, it's probably more prudent that we be fully together in life and limb when we do find him. So, I suggest we take the safer path."

"Let us go then." Beorin urges.

Not sure if there is a misunderstanding and sorry for that! Only the ceiling collapsed, there is no shaft to climb up or down. Or at least the script does not say there is one. It's just a pile you can cross if you want to.

Tariq moves on to the first door in the western wall, opens it and has a look inside. A 10-foot section of the sout wall in this room lies in pieces on the floor.

I can't actually fail either of those checks ;-)

Radagast nods appreciatively as he regards the next room.

"Careful - that wall is unstable; in fact, it looks like it is rigged to collapse; see - there are pressure plates under loose floor tiles either side of the wall. Come on - let's keep moving."

"Good eyes. My friend. We shall be careful."

Could we... search under the rubble?.. I fear something.

"This is quite a lot of trouble to go through just to prevent others from following. I wonder what's being defended here."

It an old dwarven place, in a hostile region. It seem normal for me.

Irisus searches the rubble, but does not find anything useful.

where next?

"We should move on if the shaft is impassable."

Tariq will sneak ahead again and check the southern door.

T10 Perception = 15
T10 Stealth = 18

"Do you want help?" Cathryn whispered to him.

Tariq moves to the southern door, as stealthy as he can. The door seems to be unlocked and some rubble lies next to the door. Above the rubble the wall has a hole. Tariq does not see any traps.

"Allow me."

Radagast carefully checks the door (and the area in front of it) for traps.

Perception 'Take 10' = 23.

"Allow Torag's blessings." as Beorin invokes Torag's blessing of guidance upon the Druid.

Tariq whispers back to the half-orc before heading off, "Thanks, but no. I will run back to you if I get in trouble." The Keleshite gives a half grin as he slinks off.

After Radagast checks the door, Tariq loads and readies his crossbow, indicating via Pathfinder sign that Radagast should open it.

"Radagast?"

Radagast nods, and carefully opens the door.

Beorin Stands ready!

Radagast finds a trap Tariq missed next to the door. It's a purple worm's maw trap which traps the victim's foot in rubble, and a shallow pit filled with downward-pointing spikes tears at his legs as he tries to escape.

Radagast opens the door, behind it is another room. Apart from more rubble it is empty. A single door leads to the south.

Tariq grins at the half-elf, "Excellent eyes my friend. Blessings of the Dawnflower are upon us!

Tariq moves forward and checks the southern door, crossbow in hand.

T10 Perception = 15
T10 Stealth = 18

Beorin follows behind the group as they go in.

Radagast nods to Tariq, and slowly continues forward, checking for further traps as he goes.
