Beorin Boulderstep |
It is a sad day when the wizard and Druid outclimbs this cleric.
Strength Check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 <---Faints.
The Tyrannosaurus was just behind. Beorin puts a hand up and slips.
He remembered about The Tyrannosaurus that was just behind......
He tries again, his hold not firm.....What he would do with a divine hammer he thinks.....
GM Baerlie |
Beorin has problems, but finally you all make it up to the top, out of reach of the dinosaur. The tyrannosaurus catches up to the Aspis agents and tears them to pieces. Unfortunately you broke two of the eggs during the escape race.
The journey back to the grippli village takes several hours and is uneventful compared to your flight from Deepblood Ravine.
The gloing fruit is a very rare fruit called a Kaava sun pear. It glows with soft yellow light equivalent to that of a candle for 8 hours after being picked. During this time, if somebody eats the fruit, it confers the benefits of cure moderate wounds and neutralize poison.
At the outskirts of the Krihirik village, grippli possessions lie scattered about as if they were dropped or tossed carelessly from the dwellings above. Where before gripplis hurried about the village, now none are to be found. Shouting from the direction of the elders’ hut carries through the empty jungle — "Find the others!" — followed by the loud crash of something falling to the jungle floor.
Radagast the Brown |
Knowledge(Nature): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25.
Radagast whistles in appreciation.
"That's a Kaava sun pear. It glows with soft yellow light equivalent to that of a candle for 8 hours after being picked. During this time, if somebody eats the fruit, it confers the benefits of cure moderate wounds and neutralize poison."
When the party arrives at the Grippli village, he sighs in exasperation.
"Looks like there's trouble. Let's see what we can do to clear it up..."
He then casts Longstrider, and moves forward in the direction of the noise.
Whichever of the dwellings that happens to be - put me 30' closer ;-)
GM Baerlie |
Radagast moves closer to the village and sees two aspis agents making trouble. One of them toppled the ladder. A panter sits close to a tree trunk under one of the wooden bridges.

Cathryn Nesteruk |
Cathryn sighs in disgust.
I am tired of the constant battles, she thinks to herself glumly.
She moves ahead with her scimitar, but while she passes Tariq, she whispers, Tariq, if I keep him busy, can you surprise him from behind?"
"I'm over here, mister. Let's see how well you fare against a woman who can render all but your best attacks useless."
Cathryn Nesteruk |
Cathryn will approach her enemy, blocking his view of Tariq entirely.
She will maintain her style of combat expertise, sacrificing combat power for increased defense, but because she moved, she's not able to use her more typical total defense, so she might actually hit him with her scimitar.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 + 1 AC.
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Just in case.
Oh well. Her real aim is to allow the rouge to attempt a sneak attack and/or possibly flank anyway.

Radagast the Brown |
Radagast cautiously moves forward (5' step), repositions the ladder (move equivalent), and cheerfully addresses the panther.
"Hello Kitty! Do you want to be my friend?"
Wild Empathy: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17.
GM Baerlie |
Irisus throws a ray of frost at one of the Aspis agents, but misses. Radagast repositions the ladder and tries to calm the panther down. The panther has the order to attack strangers so it just grows and shows its fangs. unfriendly attitude
The Aspis agent on the western bridge shoots an arrow at Radagast with his longbow but the arrow misses its target and gets stuck in the grass.
Longbow vs. Radagast: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Cathryn tries to block the view at Tariq. The attack with the scimitar misses.
I'm not sure if this is clear, the Aspis agents are on the wooden bridges, you can not hit them with melee weapons from below. If you want to climb up you can do it either via the trees (climb DC12) or the ladder which Radagast just set up.

Beorin and Cathry head towards the ladder and start to climb up. You need one more move action to get up to the wooden bridge.
The other agent shoots an arrow at Tariq with his longbow.

Wild Empathy - GM Star Re-roll: 1d20 + 0 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 0 + 5 = 24.
The ladder is currently a bit crowded, so I figure this is the best use of Radagast's time, at least for the moment - and is entirely in keeping with his character :-P
Beorin Boulderstep |
Nice use of Wild Empathy. Mind if I borrow this idea from you.
GM Baerlie |
Radagast continues to calm down the panther and the animal sits down, still growling and moving its tail from one side to the other.
The aspis agent with the red coat shoots an arrow at Cathryn at the ladder.
Longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Cathryn moves up to the Aspis agent and swings her weapon at the man. "You are not better, I heard you killed a bunch of kobolds a few days ago." the man answers.

Cathryn Nesteruk |
"Boys, there's someone in the hut!" Cathryn calls out, pointing his presence out to the fellows. Then she turns back to her adversary. "They were preparing captured miners for sacrifice. I should have stopped the bloodshed with diplomacy instead of losing my temper. It is to my eternal shame that I failed.
"But I needn't fail with you and your mates. Surrender and you will survive."
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (13) - 2 = 11

Now, i wonder. Are we better than them.
I don't think that rescuing hostage is the same has you do. Unless you have found that the grappli sacrificed people.
At least, we are more talented than you. At each turn, we best you. We are just five are we are winning!
diplo: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

While Irisus and Cathryn try to resolve the situation with diplomacy Tariq attacks the panter, but misses.

Cathryn continues her defensive efforts, this time returning to total defense style.

It was perception instead of attack because I didn't notice it as I was posting it, and then when I went to edit it, the Internet crashed. It's only partially functional now.
GM Baerlie |
Cathryn continues to fight defensively while the panther has to decide between Irisus and Tariq. 1d2 ⇒ 2 After a second of thinking the cat attacks Irisus.

Cathryn looks at the spellcasters and admits to herself that she feels left out.
Perhaps when this is over, I should tell them everything about my people and the wonders they worked. Especially Radagast.
Returning her focus to her battle, Cathryn continues total defense.
Attack: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (10) - 4 = 6 + 3 AC.
Beorin Boulderstep |
The Panther is up the tree isn't it? if so Beorin will move towards it. Else Beorin will attempt to hit the closest enemy.
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Confirmation 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 82d8 + 3 ⇒ (3, 5) + 3 = 11
Seeing his companion having some problem with their foes, Beorin moves to aid them swinging his hammer.
GM Baerlie |
No, the Panther is on the floor, in front of Irisus.
Beorin reaches between Radagast and Cathryn to hit the Aspis archer. He lands a hit, but the guy does not drop. Irisus takes a step back and casts a spell at the cat and the cat stares directly into the rainbow.
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 4HD

...calmly turning him into a cloud of red mist, Radagast moves forward to engage the remaining Aspis.
Slight liberty there, but I figured it was safe to say that he was dead after that ;-)
Beorin Boulderstep |
Damm that Crit is deadly!
Irisus Versicolor |
i concur. This is why i don't like the crit mecanic for this reason. Too deadly.
