Yeah, it's odd, but by my reading you can use any gun as a base, but if you lose yours for some reason you can make a new one with a weapon of level - 2 for free.
Seems open for exploit if you don't find a new gun in a few levels though.
"Oops, my custom rifle fell out of the airlock on this space voyage. Guess I'll just build a new, free one. It's a 3 level upgrade? You don't say!"
My gut says I still want some type of assault weapon, guess I'll see where my budget is at. Always can keep my current rifle and upgrade it.
I think Davrin could do some sick stuff with the pistol he's getting shot with right now.

If Zulu ever actually took damage (thanks Lenny and Pippimi!!) I'd highly consider going experimental armor and going full powered armor because, dangit, powered armor with missiles and plasma is awesome.
Maybe if I ever get back into SFS I'll make a PA soldier and pretend I'm a TAG from Infinity.

Not sure if you're aware, but the dev for this book admitted that he'd messed up Xavra's AC and provided corrected numbers in the GM Discussion thread. Here's the comment from him.
If we're up against an unnerfed Xavra on purpose, with extra damage as well... oooh, this is going to be a tough one :)
Also, Pippimi pointed out an author note on the forums (Which I had FAVORITED and FORGOT!) that points out this boss' armor is SIX POINTS higher than it should be. lolol.
I'm not going to retcon, because that would cause way to much chaos. But... his millenia old armor is about to have a teensy failure.

No way Pippimi is dying any time soon, despite the brutal damage she ended up taking. :)
From what I've seen GM-ing and playing, Starfinder is not particularly lethal thanks to Resolve being an enormous buffer. Like the boss would have to get a ranged weapon and start purposefully shooting Pippimi for a couple more rounds to finish her.
In Pathfinder if you took a huge crit sometimes that just outright killed you with no warning. Here, I'm not too worried. You guys have got this!
Yeah, it feels like poison and disease are the real killers of Starfinder. That or 10 fights in a day, like y'all were at before the boss fight. Ooh, or bad environments. Like the acid pit in book 2 or the MULTIPLE eternal drop offs in this book.

Lenny's RPs are used to regain hit points though, so it's a nice complementary usage. An ounce of early +16hp is worth a pound of RPs to stay at stable 0.
My hunch is mostly they wont be made stable then immediately try to attack use this sect is more prone to psychical feats of prowess which we beat them. Plus we have the deceased Buitz and Nibbuls plus the two in the hallway to vogue for us.
I figure it is the best way to help them grow...Xavra surely wouldn't move them forward (or backwards to their technological age). Plus establishing pilgrimage routes for Kasathan pilgrims to a place that worships a form of Talavet is a plus. Also they already dislike the skull-bearers so they are A+ in Zorans book.
And awesome I can level him up fairly quickly when the time comes.

Hmm came across Reality Glimmer, which seems like a nice way to jazz up Davrin a bit. I'm starting to feel like he's a one-trick pony (trick attack x infinity). Trying to figure out how he could have gotten the ability though without being contrived. And also trying to figure out what 1st level spell would be appropriate. (Detect thoughts 3 times a nice seems nice?)

I'll be converting over to the expirimental weapon kit, so it will somewhat depend on what kind of cash I have laying around if I go Heavy Weapons like I'd prefer, or just stick with the laser rifle I already have.
Basically just takes away my exocortex +2 to hit and some of my computer skill to increase my Damage output. No trick shot, but it should help some.

We are almost perfectly at a book every six months, that's crazy. I'm super excited for the next book, from what I've read it looks pretty great.
Some questions:

2. I feel like we might not have written down all of the loot from this book... This is a very equipment heavy and Credits light book, so catching it all is important. I may go back through and tally it up soon to make sure we got it all.
3. Everybody level up and tell us what changed! Woohoo! (You spend so little time at that level 8, it's weird. Just 4 fights, technically.)
4. We're at a 5 person party. I'm totally ok with that. However, I am also ok with inviting someone to join us. (Do people join an AP five books in?) 3. Improved Get'em: Gonna be attacking more often while still keeping our Attack and Damage boost. Extra Resolve to boost more often without fear, Toughness to add some heft, or Divine Blessing to blast some undead.
4. I can ping some of my favorite players like melorial to see if any of them want to join in. People are always hungry for APs maybe even enough to join for the last 2 books, lol. If we don't get in bites of quality I can always rope in one of my IRL players who I have been running through the ringer in PbP.

Brock remains unplayed since in the vain hope that somehow that game starts back up.
