I'm back. My background gets me to Magnimar. Does anyone want to tie backgrounds from there before the campaign start? Char would be a bodyguard for the cyphermages.
cheers
DM Crustypeanut |
Alright guys.. we're just waiting on Bi0 and Winwaar - I suspect we may be replacing the latter soon. Luckily, his potential replacement is already working on a character just in case.
I've messaged both of 'em - in the mean time, once I get my Reign of Winter post up, I'm going to be posting a sort of 'prologue' for you guys to fiddle around in until we're 100% ready to go.
Hopefully that won't take more than a few days, else we'll be starting with 6-7 people. Though.. this first bit we could probably easily do without the others.
Let me just get my RoW post up and we'll see!
DM Jelani |
I might be joining if dude doesn’t return in a timely fahion. Going for an orc rogue with a couple of archetypes. Prototypical thug, also a bodyguard for the Cyphermages.
1d100 ⇒ 37 Orc Settlement You gain access to the Scrapper race trait.
1d100 ⇒ 64 Middle-Class Birth You were born to the middle class, which includes merchants, artisans, and tradespeople. You likely grew up in a good-sized settlement, and one of your parents is likely associated with a guild or other trade organization. As a free person, you don't experience the bondage of serfdom or peasantry, but you also lack the privilege of the nobility. You gain access to the Artisan social trait and the Merchant social trait.
1d100 ⇒ 17 Competition Champion You distinguished yourself at an early age when you won a competition. This might have been a martial contest of arms, a showing of apprentice magicians, high stakes gambling, or something mundane like an eating championship. You gain access to the Influence social trait and the Champion story feat.
1d100 ⇒ 5 Gang War Growing up in the backstreets of an urban jungle, you were forced to choose between surviving as a predator or suffering as prey. You affiliated with a guild, gang, or group of thieves and thugs, carrying out illicit missions to further their interests and sabotage those of rival gangs. You gain access to the Dirty Fighter combat trait
1d100 ⇒ 14 The Confidante There was a person in your life to whom you could tell anything. She knows your deepest secrets and your emotional weaknesses and vulnerabilities just as you know hers. This person could be a valuable friend and a frightening enemy, so you make sure to never divulge her secrets or give her a reason to do so with yours. You gain access to the Trustworthy social trait.
1d20 ⇒ 13 Major Theft You stole expensive items. 5 cp.
1d20 ⇒ 18 Adventurer
1d10 ⇒ 10 Motivation:Amusement 5cp
Resolution:enjoyed it +3 cp
Alignment: evil 9 cp, neutral 4cp. NE
Undecided deity.
1d20 ⇒ 7ISeveral Significant Relationships. You've engaged in a number of partnerships, but for some reason or another your relationships always fail.
1d100 ⇒ 90 The Past You long for the world to return to a past age. You've adopted the manners and style of this age, and are fascinated by its customs, relics, and artifacts, and by the historical figures of that time. Perhaps you live so much in this past age that your connection to the present is tenuous. Or your pretentiousness annoys others. You gain access to the Sentimental drawback.
I‘ll see what I can do with that.

Well, I am now officially 'in ze writing mood' thanks to that RoW post, so I'm working on getting the prologue up!
I'll admit, i've been having a writer's block thanks to the mythic ascension (also, my shift key isn't working half the time, which is annoying the ever living hell out of me right now, so excuse many of the non-capitalized stuff), as I wanted the ascension to be.. speshul.
i have just broken the block with an adamantine earth breaker, though! So alls well.
I think theres a piece of food stuck underneath my shift key. ITS ANNOYING ME!
Al'cazar of the Sihedron Legion |
I know the feeling about writers block, I know I need to get a post up for Robs Arcadia game... The trick is finding the right post.
DM Crustypeanut |
The GM is the only one who has to have it. Rob has it, and while he has offered to let me use his account, it wouldn't work out since he's a player in the campaign.
However, one of my Road to Damnation players mentioned that you can donate to a GM's subscription - obviously I won't ask that of anyone, but its an option.
I wish I wasn't broke, else I'd have it XD
But, since I don't have it, I'll make sure to get whatever map we're on up on google docs - though I probably won't be as up to date with it when it comes to tokens.
DM Crustypeanut |
Yeah no word from Winwaar yet - though Bi0philia has also been silent. But he has been silent in Reign of Winter as well, so we'll see when it comes to him.
Winwaar's been silent for longer though - including in Rob's Quest for Arcadia. So basically I'm going to have to say he's lost his spot.. you're in, Jelani!
(I hope no one has any issues with that)
Ferit Skuller |
Wilhem Versade |
Biowolf - Human Skald or Halfling Swashbuckler
Thron - Radyx Felston, Human Fighter
Kagehiro - Valko van Richten, Half-Elf Investigator
Jubal - Ferit Skuller, Orc Rogue
Celeador - Al'cazar the Sihedron Legionnaire, Shoanti Bloodrager
Rob - Isroth of Xin-Shalast, Samsaran Arcanist
Peanuts - Wilhem Versade, Human Arcanist
Jubal - Charbonardent, Half-giant Warpriest
Hope we get a response from Bio soon, but I'm ready to go :) I think we need to secure a CLW wand fairly soon though, as it seems we're a bit light on the healing.
DM Crustypeanut |
If we do not hear from Bi0, I've already secured his replacement - who is none other than Gyrfalcon (Unafe) from Road to Damnation! I'm going to give Bi0 until Friday/Saturday to let me know whats up, otherwise Gyr will be filling in.
Also, I'm just about done with the prologue. Expect it up very soon!
Ferit Skuller |
Also, make sure you take into account the quadrupled prices of food and doubled prices of cold weather gear. You weren't here when I made sure everyone was aware of it, though its on the character creation section.
I did pay double for my cold weather gear, but I forgot to x4 the food in my kit. I’ll do that.
Charbonardent |
Crusty
This character has a monster Survival score, which has been feeding him on the way to Magnimar, even with any negatives due to cold weather. How many days worth of kill would you let me start with?
thanks

Any chance that I could use Str instead of Cha to affect my intimidate without having to burn a feat? I've always hated that rule, it makes no sense to me...
Other than that question, I'm 100% done with crunch. Do you want me to finish my background before I post, or am I cool to get started and finish up the narrative background as I get time?

I believe I disallowed it either on Road to Damnation or (more likely) my Skull and Shackles/Beneath the Black Flag campaign.. I can't remember which, and searching has yielded no results of where it came up.
So, disregarding my previous answer entirely, I'll allow it for this campaign.
But do note, that if I allow it for you guys, I'll allow it for my NPCs as well. ;)

Feel free to make a post now and finish up your background later when you have time.

Cool, thanks man. I'll get a gameplay post up soonish.
Isroth of Xin-Shalast |
Hey guys, just a heads up: December is shaping up to be a real bear at my office as law firms get in their billing in advance the end of the fiscal year, so I've been pulling overtime and generally working harder than usual. As such I've been pretty burned out when I get home so I may miss a day or two of posting here and there up through New Years. Please bear with me and any slowness to respond to stuff.

Well, I'll need to swap it on Radyx as I had taken it.

Hehehehe, I know there's most likely not a slot for me right now but I decided to roll and get brainstorming just cuz. The gods must love me today because I seem to have rolled up a Gnomish Gnecromancer, who dug up and zombified a child, and is glad he did it. >;-)
homeland: 1d100 ⇒ 13 >> Forest: You gain access to the Log Roller regional trait and the Animal Friend race trait.
parents: 1d100 ⇒ 75 >> Both of your parents are alive.
siblings: 1d100 ⇒ 79 >> No siblings
circumstance of birth: 1d100 ⇒ 43 >> Middle-Class Birth: You were born to the middle class, which includes merchants, artisans, and tradespeople. You likely grew up in a good-sized settlement, and one of your parents is likely associated with a guild or other trade organization. As a free person, you don't experience the bondage of serfdom or peasantry, but you also lack the privilege of the nobility. You gain access to the Artisan social trait and the Merchant social trait.
parents' profession: 1d100 ⇒ 16 >> Serfs/peasants OK, these last two rolls seem to blatantly contradict each other...
major childhood event: 1d100 ⇒ 10 >> Betrayal: A friend or family member whom you trusted more than anyone else betrayed you. You have never fully trusted anyone since and prefer to rely on your own abilities rather than place your trust in others. You gain access to the Suspicious social trait.
oracle: 1d100 ⇒ 14 >> Bones: In your formative years, you were entombed or buried alive in a graveyard. For days, you lay within the grave until your terror strangely turned to comfort. Since your return, you've been a different person: part mortal and part ghost, in possession of the powers of the dead. You gain access to the Fearless Defiance faith trait. MWAHAHAHAHA!
influential associates: 1d100 ⇒ 43 >> The Relative: There is a relative you were especially close to. To you, this person was the meaning of family. He helped shepherd you into adulthood, teaching you everything you know about the world. You are bound to this person or his memory, and you strive to keep a promise, vow, or oath that you made to him. You gain access to the Oathbound faith trait.
conflict: 1d20 ⇒ 13 >> Major Theft: You stole expensive items. (CP 5) Given the mystery I rolled, this sounds like stealing and animating a corpse to me...
subject: 1d20 ⇒ 12 >> Child or young person (increase your CP by 1) make that the corpse of a child
motivation: 1d10 ⇒ 9 >> Pleasure (CP 5)
No Guilt (+2 CP): Either guilt is for the weak, or you know you made the right decision. You might not openly brag about your part in the conflict, but you don't deny it when confronted either.
Alignment: NE
romantic relationships: 1d20 ⇒ 7 >> Several Significant Relationships: You've engaged in a number of partnerships, but for some reason or another your relationships always fail. I wonder why?
drawback: 1d100 ⇒ 57 >> Religion: Your beliefs are of paramount importance in your life, whether you belong to a temple, follow a cult, or practice a religious philosophy independently. When others question or attack the beliefs, principles, relics, or structures of your faith, you respond with fury. You gain access to the Zealous drawback.
DM Crustypeanut |
I bet Gyrfalcon's 'romantic relationships' were with the dead, if ye get my meaning. ;)
Or quickly became the dead, as would also be likely.
Also.. perhaps you were born to peasants, but were adopted into middle class? Perhaps the parent's own 'lord' adopted you? Even though they are still alive, it might've been your parent's intentions to provide the best for you, but know that with their station, that they couldn't.
Though since you were born with the Gnomes, its likely that one day they were peasants, the next they weren't. I doubt Gnomes really had that kind of a societial structure. They probably changed at a whim XD
