Well that sounds good Avan, I'm eager to see you in action.
Psyblade if Avan knocks them down you would still have the penalty of them being prone right?
Chyrone, I don't think your Oracle build is suitable to do any hammering ^^, neither is my Sorcerer mind you, I just provide the anvil to go with that hammering.

![]() |

Prone: The character is lying on the ground. A prone attacker has a –4 penalty on melee attack rolls and cannot use a ranged weapon (except for a crossbow). A prone defender gains a +4 bonus to Armor Class against ranged attacks, but takes a –4 penalty to AC against melee attacks.
Standing up is a move-equivalent action that provokes an attack of opportunity.
If I look at that it only mentions melee combat and not ranged attacks. I am not sure if they would suffer the -4 against ranged attacks. If I would get it, and I would take the -4 (iirc) penalty for shooting into combat it would give me a +0 penalty to it. Also, Divine hunter get's the precise shot on lvl 1 (it replaces the heavy armor feat).

Fernus Stonecall |

Well when they are prone they get the +4 to AC vs Ranged attack what would constitute the same as you taking -4 on your ranged attacks vs them.
If you wouldn't have the Precise Shot feat you would get another -4 on your ranged attacks on them so that would constitute a total penalty of -8 on your ranged attacks then.
Tyler wouldn't it be handy for you to have a weapon with which you can trip instead of the short sword? Also your CMB is only +4 to Trip, are you sure you want to build a trip monkey?
Also Tripping seems like a new trend going around this thread.

Magnus Bjornsson |

@Waydon nice but Mini likes heros I was already nixed on the Le thing myself lol.
@psyblade I like the hunter thing that's neat. I hope one of you archer types get in to hang out with me in the back lol.
@Sethran Remember we aren't in greyhawk anymore unless you somehow got moved from their to here which would be a awesome story. You should tweak out the AoW refs awesome as they are they don't fit this world
@Shaia awesome and I hope you get in like I said to chyrone once I get my backstory up and you can read it and see if you want to insert a prior meeting in somewhere.
@eydra all I have to say is Yes Dwefs rule lol.
@Michael. Get yer bloody character up boneyard.
@ everyone else still reading backbones and such will comment later lol.

I might be reading it wrong (and being at work / tired doesn't help) but if they get knocked down, they aren't defending prone then (unless they go down before hand and voluntarily.
Once more, I might read it wrong!

You were a big help, I was going to go with a heavy str build, but dex obviously offers more...and your reaction tells me I am doing something wrong or I am just a complete noob and 18 for dex is horrible, whichever the case, I am all ears.
No, no, no... Just didn't know how you felt "after the change". Damned me for my meddling, etc... All valid reactions.
:)
To follow is about me, not you.
I'm a Libra (scales, balance, love well rounded), but the game screws you for it... yet most GMs claim "not to want optimization". I figure, you're part of a team, you're playing a role... Be amazing at it. Optimize.
As a Wizard is my Save DC vs, let's say Color Spray is 13 (because Int 14) or 16 (Int 18 & Spell Focus)... HUGE difference (dice remaining equal). Just one example.
Oh, I can't wear armor... so if I don't want to waste spells all day long, I need a high Dex, too. Which is how I ended up with an Elf.
And, I could go Con 10, becoming 8... But, that would mean 6hp. Risky, though I'm thinking about it. And, at lower levels "AC" items typically go to fighters and front-liners. Leaving the Wizard the last to get any protection. He's still 1 arrow away from Fffzt!
LOL.

Sethran Aeleanir |

@Psyblade - wow, I even tried to see if someone posted that... sheesh, must be tired. Need higher perception (WIS).
@Avan - actually, no. I typically won't play overly restrictive games. The dice mess with you enough. There's no need, the DM is just hobbling you. You can't really ever play heroic, because you're constantly playing against the odds (with bad dice, ouch).
And, most will claim that the APs have 15pt buy in mind. Eh...
I've seen good teams with smart players surviving challenges with "relative" ease (they should). But, I've never seen teams plowing thru encounters because they just had better stats.
@Psyblade - I'm counting on your Shared Precision @ level 3. One of the synergies I was hoping for. Stay near you and fire into melee with a heavy crossbow.

Sethran Aeleanir |

@Magnus - Markus is in Greyhawk, sitting by candlelight writing his memoires. He's referring to some scrolls he came across and translated.
And yes, they are from another world/plane/alternate reality.
Sethran knows nothing about Greyhawk.
I was going for that awesomeness you mention. Just wanted 3rd person PoV, so as to avoid excessive dialog.

Korvosan-born and Chelish-blooded, Horatio spent his entire young life with dreams of becoming a star. He would be no mere street perfromer, oh no - he would be the greatest violinist to ever draw a crowd, the very jewel of the amphitheater! Unfortunately, he proved too hot-headed and arrogant for the finer aspects of the bard's trade (such as talking politics with stuffy old nobles, and being polite to the law, and other such minor nuisances), and was gently told to try a smaller town to build a reputation in - say, Sandpoint.
Sandpoint! A backwater hive on a coast that had "lost" in its very name? Oh, the disgrace! Horatio left out of spite, determined to reach Sandpoint and outgrow it, proving that his talents were wasted in such a pit. Of course, once he reached Sandpoint, he found that, well, maybe it wasn't that bad after all. He's been settling in for the last two weeks, performing in taverns, and getting to know the locals - especially the lovely ladies (and, to be honest, a fair few of the gentlemen as well). His plan, in his own truly arrogant style, is to build such a wonderful fan-base, Cyrdak Drokkus will beg him to become a regular at the Sandpoint Theater. And from there? Perhaps to Magnimar, perhaps back to Korvosa. Who knows? Horatio is nothing if not ambitious.
Though he may be arrogant and utterly convinced of his own magnificence, Horatio has the best interests of people at heart. In his short time at Sandpoint, he's come to see the "backwater hole" as quite a charming place, and though he'd never admit it to anyone, he'd be rather happy to live there. He's a scoundrel, for sure; and a womanizer, no doubt; but beneath it all, he's just a man, far from home, trying to find a place where he can feel needed. Maybe the Sandpoint Theater really is the best he can do, he fears. Maybe it's all he really deserves.
EDIT: Wow, Daynen beat me to it, it seems. Haha. Ah well, I'll leave my arrogant prat of a bard here anyway!

@Chyrone - The old oracle has passed away, after handing the baton to Eryda. You could follow leads to find the oracle in Sandpoint, only to find that Eryda was the last person to come under her tutelage.
@Seth - My Forgemaster is not experienced in the ways of conventional spellcasting and as such, should not have any ranks in Spellcraft because other than those that she knows, she doesn't really recognize other spells.
EDIT: Also, since Mini has clarified that campaign traits should only come from the AE, I'll have to switch up my 'Exiled' for 'Scholar of the Ancients' then. Its the closest thing I could roleplay with my current background... -ish. =p (without having to completely rewrite it)

MiniGM |

Markus is a Lore Warden turned Knife Master I'm playing in Age of Worms (Greyhawk). Seemed an interesting tie-in.
Are you submitting sethran or marcus? Sorry I am confused, and since i was gone all weekend there is a lot to go through. please confirm who youare submitting and put their info with their profile. if you are submitting marcus please stat him according to the build rules

MiniGM |

I will not be selecting any evil characters. I do not find that the AP's play well as evil...unless it is WotW
Also you are welcome to drop a stat below 10, BUT you do NOT gain extra points. So if you think that is good for the character go for it.
The purpose was to avoid dumps. I was planning on doing 15 pt buys as the AP calls for, but decided to give you 20 and just say no dumps

OK all, I will set the end of recruitment as Wednesday.

Lastexile0 |

I feel like I could easily fill that role, considering most of my posts have been slightly off-topic :/
That being said, any suggestions for my Rogue? It's a little MAD considering the concept I have for it, but any ideas for stat spread would be appreciated. The concept is based around stealing magical items and using them in combat while resorting to sneak attacks if all else fails.
