This will probably turn into a recruitment, with one player already in.

I would be looking for 3 or 4 additional players.

Build Rules

Level 1
20pt buy: No stats below 10 (racial modifiers can take you below)
All Paizo allowed, 3pp that modify a paizo class are possible, but doubtful. feel free to ask
Traits: 2 +1 Campaign
Gold: Max
Required strong backstories. Why are you in sand point. Chosen players would get boons based on Backstory.
Posting: 1 per day minimum. But really 1 per day. I will bot you and it will be something simple.
Other: If you are a min/maxer this is not the game for you. I want creative players that will RP with each other.

About Me

I have a fair amount of experience with PbP, and PFS as well. I have been running a PbP game for just about a year now, so it is safe to say that I will not be disappearing. I am pretty loose with the rules, meaning if it makes sense logically that is what I rule. This is not to say that I do not follow the rules, but it means that I am not a rules lawyer. I do not mind being corrected, but I might make a ruling that is against RAW. Also if you want to do something and can come up with a logical check for it, I will allow it.

That is about it really. Let me know if you are interested and if there is anything I missed.

Dark Archive

I am up for it, can whip up a char without a problem. Posting shouldn't be much of an issue (bar the fact I am in EU TZ and I work shifts).

Silver Crusade

Ha! Hilarious! Can I be a minion of the DM, villian sometimes, provoker of chaos, etc.?

If for some reason you don't get enough players, I think I would love to play a ladies man sorcerer, or warlock if you allow it. He he he he...

Badger, badger, badger, badger, mushroom, MUSHROOM! :p

I got mapses to tradeses. LOL

Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh. Look -^ he uses boons, Ha!

took the boons from you DM.

Silver Crusade

I knew it, I knew it! Muahahahahahaha DM Pride!

I have a cross-blooded sorcerer just for RotRL ready. Let me present Fernus Stonecall, Seeker of Lore and Story Teller Extraordinair.

Would still have to see about what to buy with his max starting gold though.
Edit: Didn't need much time to choose that, application should be complete now, if I missed anything please let me know.

well fenrus you would lose your second feat but it seems in order.

Already remembered that I had a few bonus things from the previous application, corrected them now.

Also he might go Loremaster Prestige Class eventually.

I think I will be making a go of this. Once there are enough people interested I will give a recruitment deadline. Ideally I will start the game sometime next week. Possibly as early as Monday

I encourage you all to comment on other characters. The only rule Don't be a dick about it. If someone has a mistake just point it out. "Hey it looks like you have a 22 pt buy" is sufficient.

I cannot stress enough that I will want players that are active, I want a party that will talk and banter with each other.

Also I will have an assistant, he will play some kind of awakened critter that will travel with the party, and he will occasionally play an NPC or a villain.

Dark Archive

I will be playing an Aasimar Divine Hunter. I will put up my char later today if needed be (once back from the doctor)

sounds good. Put up your sheet as you can, for me backstory is more important than crunch. But of course i will need both before making a choice

Silver Crusade

Hunting the Divine? :P

Probably not what you meant, though I thought I would poke. :)

Grand Lodge

I would like to sign up for this!

I will submit 2 character sheets, 1 martial 1 divine, for your perusal later.

Dotting. I'm newish, but can play a dynamic character, and am happy to fill a gap.

I would like to try out a Forlorn Elf from either Riddleport or Magnimar who is there for a change of scenery.

I am interested, I'll post my character for review soon enough

Lantern Lodge

Hey Mini! I'd definitely be interested. I've had a bit of a disappearing GMs curse with RotRL so it would be great to play with you if you're ok with someone who already plays with you. Would you be handling maps similar to the Absalom game (only when needed).

Edit: If so, count me in for an ill-tempered Bloatmage Initiate blasting wizard booted from Kaer Maga (not an easy accomplishment).

Dotting for interest, likely as a druid of some sort.

I've half drawn up a skill-monkey bard who's been travelling Varisia looking for a place he feels is worthy of his talents. Looking to play him as a bit of a womanizing, egocentric, know-it-all wanker. I'll finish him off in the morning - it's past eleven and I've had half a bottle of rum, so it's probably best I take it back up after a good night's sleep.

hey Michael

I will actually be posting maps for this game, I have learend a new trick. Maps with moveable tokens

Also it was suggested that I say the game will be PG-13 to R.

Lantern Lodge

Cool, I've had one other game use that approach and it works really well.

Another question. Only Rise of the Runelords Campaign traits or will you also allow Shadows Under Sandpoint traits (either as campaign traits or regional traits).

Grand Lodge

Ok I'm having trouble deciding what to play, exactly, so I'll just writeup 4 different characters and create them if they are chosen!

General information
Eryda Stouthaft is a female Dwarf, standing 4"8. She sports a blonde ponytail and deep, black eyes. She is gruff and uncouth, but strictly adheres to the teachings of Torag, as have all of the Stouthafts have for generations. Ever since she was able to wield a hammer, Eryda has been trained in the art of (combat/crafting/communion). As the years passed, she has now become the thirdmost important dwarf of the Stouthaft community (defense/smiths/cloister) among a good may hundred others.

As an Exarch: Inquisitor:
Campaign trait: Student of Faith
The new cathedral has garnered much attention, attracting what must be thousands of visitors and religious patrons to the town of Sandpoint. Eryda has been asked by the inner cloister of Torag's worshipers to represent their interests in the proper establishment of Torag's faith and teachings. Her missive is as follows:
"Stouthaft, your exceptional fanaticism has come to our attention. We would like for you to oversee the unveiling of a new cathedral in Sandpoint, dedicated to the six most popular deities in the region. Ensure that no one undermines the Great Forgemaster and keep the peace of the land. -The Closed Forge"

As a Foehammer: Fighter:
Campaign Trait: Giant Slayer
Disturbing reports of increased giant activity along the Hook Mountain range has spread over the last few months. As a defender of good and contact point between the Stouthaft dwarven community and Sandpoint, Eryda has stepped forward to visit the surface with helm and hammer. She chooses to enter the village during the Swallowtail Festival, when Sandpoint will be crowded with hundreds of visitors and possibly, enemies.

As a Forgemaster: Cleric:
Campaign Trait: Missionary
The smiths of Sandpoint have traded with the Stouthafts ever since the first year the village erected a proper forge. Continuous support from the humans have ensured the Stouthaft community a great variety of food and ale; the knowledge and discipline of Torag's faithful assisting the smiths with their crafting. Eryda has visited Sandpoint today on another of her acquisition trips with her cloister. The timing of their arrival is no coincidence for the dwarves have rescheduled their visit to give thanks and pray at the new cathedral. A small stall has been set up near the cathedral, where Eryda is peddling trinkets while the rest of the party is either fawning over the cathedral or concluding business with the smiths who patronize Torag.

As a Stonelord, Paladin:
Campaign Trait: Monster Hunter
The tunnels around the Stouthaft community have been safe for the last five decades, thanks to the efforts of Eryda 'Anvil' Stouthaft and her unit. Her title within the militia was earned by exceptional efforts to ensure every dwarf that scouted with her returned, whether they were alive or dead. Recruits who have cleared the wild tunnels with the 'Anvil' glorify her ability to lead and protect her unit, but always in whispers for fear of Eryda knowing. Her one rule is ingrained into every single fibre of her recruits: "Humility is your shield."
On her last patrol, Eryda discovered a strange creature. As she peeled the humanoid off her shield, a weird marking caught her attention. (I would go into detail here but that would be a real spoiler) Below the ground, there was no creature she did not know of yet this creature was foreign to her. What was this curious yet sinister marking? With no answers to be found within the Stouthaft community, Eryda journeyed forth to Sandpoint, the only outside source of information.

Please be kind with your criticism! ^^

Need to tweak point-buy slightly.

Elf Wizard Transmuter.

eryda as mentioned above

you will need to give a lot more than that to be chosen. backstory, and at least a pt buy and feat selection, and skills.

Spells and equipment can cerainly come later.

Of course, just expressing interest. He's mostly started up in profile.

Eryda If I may so, I'd think the Inquisitor or Paladin sound like you've put the most thought into, however brief it may be ^^

They seem to have more of a reason to be in Sandpoint than the cleric or fighter. Though I have to say I'd like to see another dwarven cleric deal with the initial adventure, I had a similar dwarven cleric in a tabletop RotRL, brings back memories.

Edit: I haven't played RotRL for long though, just the initial fight, then it became a homebrew.

I was thinking about playing this low charisma alchemist who keeps blowing himself up, but maybe that's already been done.

I'm sure you won't, but if you need players, I'm happy to join up. Can also help with resources etc as you need it.

Submissions

Arcane

Fenris: Sorcerer
Sethan: Wizard

Also for all of you the player already in has said he will be playing either a Wizard or a Witch

As you can see from my build I'm a wannabe trip monkey with my sorcerer. I don't think I'd stand in the way of another wizard or arcane spellcaster or am I?

Hell it can be a party of all wizards for I care :P

I just wanted to make sure the applicants new that

"MEGEKKI!"

... lost his last ROTRL game. We had got to the 2nd room of the 2nd zone. If that's not a deal-breaker, I'll rebuild him from his current 12-pt build, and apply. His posts in that game will express his and my style. I'd be scrounging through them to assemble a proper 'backstory', it's all in there.

Grand Lodge

Oh sure no problem! Let's see. I've actually done up the fighter proper. I'll just post that first.

Skills: Kn: Dungeon, Prof: Soldier

Megekki go ahead.

though in all honesty I am probably not going to read through your last campaign!

Backstory is key for me folks, who are you as a player becomes a bit more apparent.

Grand Lodge

Can I take it that you'd like me to flesh out my characters more? I could do up one with more depth if you could give me some guidance as to which you'd prefer to have, based on their plot summaries. =p

Hey MiniGM, I am curious. I want to play an Ogre-descended character (a watered down Ogre-kin, if you will) would that be something you'd be interested in dealing with? I would be modifying this profile to fit in your Campaign guidelines. It would take a little work, and a little more time to get it done though, and I would like to see if this is an automatic veto.

This character was originally made for a Dragonlance campaign, and I will change his back-story, but the current backstory should give you some insight into the type of player that I am.

Dark Archive

Name: Kor'sarro Khan
Race: Assimar
Class: Paladin, Divine Hunter

Spoiler:

STR: 14
DEX: 16
CON: 14
INT: 13
WIS: 12
CHA: 15

AC: 18
Init: +3

I would like to introduce Kor'sarro Khan, he is an Assimar (Angel Blooded) Divine Hunter. He originated from Magnimar. He was raised by his mother alone and never knew his father, when he was young his mother was murdered and he was placed in a foster home in Magnimar. When he was old enough and learned what happened to his mother he left the orphanage and started to learn how to hunt. This was also the time he started to follow the path of his Deity and picked up hunting. He was taken in by a Paladin who took him under his wing and teached him all. During his training it became apparent that he was more profecient with bow and arrow then sword and board. Due to this he became a Divine hunter in the service of Erastil.

In due time he has become more and more adept at hunting the monsters and he favors the evil / undead or magical ones due to his conviction to Erastil. Even though he is on his current path for Erastil in the back of his mind he is still looking for traces of the ones that murdered his mother. His path has taken him to the area around sandpoint where he learned there were festivities and he has decided to make a stop there to restock on his supplies before heading out again.

Traits: Celestial Tracker and Monster Hunter

So what leads him to Sanpoint? It is the eqivalent of a small town in North Dakota

I will get into that some more, just had to get that posted before heading out for a bit :)

all good.

I really would like to see folks giving feedback on other characters. I am looking for a group that plays well together and works together, so lets start now

O I did not post this, but this is not an evil campaign.

GM, How would you feel about a mysterious stranger gunslinger with the "Family Ties" campaign trait?

He'd essentially be a Han Solo, scoundrel (sometimes) with a heart of gold type character.

I'd be willing to expand on that obviously, I just wanted to see how you felt about gunslingers in general for your running of this AP, if you have a preference against them or anything like that.

I see you're a proponent of good backgrounds so I'm going to assume the answer to that question all lies in whether I can come up with an interesting reason for him to be in Sandpoint/ have a stake in Sandpoint's future and all of that.

Thanks!

Mini, did you see my post? I didn't see a response. Urgo would be LG.

i like gunslingers actually, as long as your not going the cheese ball route. IE i will not be letting someone dueal wield pistols and do th eweapon cord trick.

RAW legal? yep. Going to irritate the crap out of me? yep LOL

Urgo I did not see it, but I would prefer sticking to the core, featured and uncommon races listed on the table here

That is a comprehensive list. Though obviously I will probably not be taking a goblin or hobgoblin or orc :)

Yeah, I know, just thought I would check. This is an idea I have been holding on to for a while, and with the goings on around Turtleback Ferry, I thought there would be some great RP coming out of it.

Thanks for the response though! Best of luck to you! I have always loved the idea of this AP since I first heard about it in 3.5. Barely made it through the goblin raid before the group dissolved.

Eryda I think it is most what you would like to play. if you don't care which one you play, just roll for it here.

As we don't have any frontliners or divine casters yet the choice is all yours.

To expand your background stories, you could incorporate Traits, Feats and skills into them. Traits make usually great hooks to start your storyline with. Skills are there to see what drives a person or what skills he had learned to get to the point he/she is now and could also be a hook on where you start a character's drive to adventure.

Lantern Lodge

You sure you don't have an arcane caster concept Eryda ;) I think we should take up Mini's challenge. Arcane casters all around :)

I would echo the advice from Fernus 100% This campaign is likely to run for a couple of years, maybe longer. It takes a lot of commitment and playing something that you're most excited about is the way to go. If you love them all equally, follow his advice to roll for it and then save the others for another PbP.

I'm posting just to see if this is all filled up. If it isn't I would be interested.

Thanks!

Grand Lodge

I'll go with the Foehammer then!

Backstory:

Eryda Stouthaft was one of the finest leaders of the Stouthaft community militia. Her ability to brain a monster had a certain finesse and grace to it. Her courage was also unquestionable. Eryda would always be at the front of any fight against creatures larger than herself. Her fluid movements seemed to always find a vital point to strike with her hammer, 'Bass'. Many say she has an unnatural affinity with the ground, as though she was part of it.
However, Eryda was slightly thick-skulled, despite what people seemed to think of her. She did not know many laws or rules, save for those of the Great Forgemaster, Torag. Her only wish whenever she sortied out into the wild tunnels was to keep the community safe. Eryda cared nothing for reputation or fame.
The past few weeks have been difficult on the militia. There seemed to be unusual activity in the dark tunnels beyond the Stouthaft territory. Something was herding wild creatures toward the underground town, to their swift demise. These monsters have learnt not to approach carelessly, yet now they seemed eager to try their chances against the steel of the Stouthafts rather than face whatever was behind them.
The defense has to be bolstered in many places, often with help from the Forgemasters of the town. The most recent foray, however, unearthed something sinister.
The tunnel mouths yielded nothing too dissimilar to previous suicide rushes, the usual worms and spiders, oozes and bats. As Eryda worked her hammer in long-sweeping arcs, she noticed a foreign figure stealthily enclosing on her position. This strange, red-cloaked humanoid resembled a illithid yet wielded an axe. As it swung the butterfly bladed weapon at Eryda, a quick parry and reverse caved in the humanoid's skull like face.
A wave of terror rippled through the fodder forces as they witnessed such an efficient dispatch. As they flooded back into the tunnels, Eryda inspected the curious creature. Forgemasters who wandered over had no clue what it was, much less the other members of the militia. What they did notice was a magical mark on the monster's chest, one of a seven-sided star.
After concluding that this was an unnatural marking, the Inner Cloister decided to dispatch an emissary to their surface contacts in Sandpoint, seeking more information from the surface dwellers. Eryda volunteered as escort, a mandatory formality with all the recent attacks.
And that is how she ends up in Sandpoint, together with a Dwarven Ranger 'Generico', seeking Shalelu!

Hope that was better this time. Gratitude to Fernus and michaelane, whose tips were invaluable to my enlightenment!

Also, mich seemed to have posted while I was writing but I will say that I do have a 'Tyrion Lannistah' in my Bard repertoire. Its the only other class I enjoy playing.

That's right I'm the only orc he deals with bawhahahahaha.
