Tarinhilliberanavius |

Tarinhil shakes his head, "They know of it, so it's been here before... and it's too dangerous to allow it to live. We have to hunt it."

Vincente Valentino Valdemar |

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 *pokes the group*
Vinnie just keeps walking around in circles.

Tarinhilliberanavius |

Ok, can any of us track, or will we need to be doing aerial scouting and hope to get lucky?
Also, Mini, I assume the town is too small to have much in the way of potions or wands or scrolls? Was thinking a few scrolls of dispel magic might not be the worst thing.
As a tactic, assuming we don't get jumped by the giant thing, we should be scattered to avoid too many getting caught in a single confusion blast, and I approve of the communal protection from evil.
I was going to suggest that Tarinhil stays invisible and uses dispelling bombs to help us but I can't target specific spells (unlike dispel magic) -- so it would wash away our low-level protection spells before taking out the beast's big magic. Still, if someone's right screwed and I'm not clawing my face off -- then it's something we could try.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to go with a few summons, too -- if only to distract the beast so it doesn't do to us what it did to Darin.

Darin the Cheerful |

Best I've got is the tracking mark spell, but it doesn't give me ranks in Survival.

Tarinhilliberanavius |

Locate creature?

Darin the Cheerful |

I say we hit the fort.

Tarinhilliberanavius |

Tarinhil says, "One of the rangers at the first would be able to help... And it's not like they don't owe us."

Darin the Cheerful |

We'll be waiting. Probably with a stiff drink in hand.

Darin the Cheerful |

And how!
Darin pauses to look at the other adventurers.
What, was that wrong? Sorry, I've been dead.

Tarinhilliberanavius |

Tarinhil adjusts his extract pouch and reagents, drinking his false life extract, then nods, "As ready as we can get... Though I'm rather hoping we can take a moment to prepare before we attract the beast's attention"
False Life: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Darin the Cheerful |

Presuming we get a head's up I'll cast communal protection from evil on the whole team. But especially Elorin, who can't be trusted.

Darin the Cheerful |

Bully.

Tarinhilliberanavius |

Tarinhil nods at the ranger in thanks, then says, "I guess it's time to prepare, then.", and begins to draw flasks, consuming extracts to ready himself.
Drinking:
- Orchid's Drop -> +2 alchemical bonus to all saves
- Barkskin -> +4 Natural Armour
- Potion of Heroism (Heightened, via Alchemical Allocation) -> +2 morale to attack, damage, skills and saves
...and my mutagen (Fly 60', Swim 60', Darkvision)

Darin the Cheerful |

Darin will use communal protection from evil with the lesser extend metamagic rod to protect everyone.
I really need something like a wrist-mounted hourglass to tell me when time has passed...or maybe a sundial.

Tarinhilliberanavius |

Tarinhil says, "Finding an animal to bait it might work. That seems safer than my thought of swimming up to it.. I'm amphibious thanks to my mutagen, I'd still displace water, even if I'm invisible. "

Tarinhilliberanavius |

Believe we're going with blood in the water with an animal to lure it out into the open.

Darin the Cheerful |

Not it.

Tarinhilliberanavius |

I volunteer the Cavalier with his big strong hit die... And flying mount.

Darry Swiftfoot |

I'm still not sure why we are seeking such a beast in its lair, but if you all really want to go hunting for it, I supposed I could drop the carcass and blood into the water with my figurine... We can just hope it decides its hungry . . . and that it isnt smart enough to realize its a trap.
He muttered patting his big shaggy dog mount for a moment. He could clearly recall the things mouth being large enough to basically swallow him with little effort.

Tarinhilliberanavius |

Tarinhil says, "Seeking the beast where we can ambush it, rather than have it attack and destroy those who can't defend themselves. "

Darin the Cheerful |

Darin grunts acknowledgement.
A sound strategy I suppose - like hunting a bear in winter.
