Kishai |

This is Mat_H
To give you an idea, this is what I had tentatively built up for the melee/healer alchemist. Obviously anything can be tweaked or I could build up a whole new PC if this doesn't fit in well.
Sorry it isn't a gnoll :(
I can usually do up a full character on any given evening, so if you guys need something completely different I'll work that up for you instead.

Gavinia Hornsten |

Knowledge nature! We keep getting attacked by these tiny winged creatures and we have no idea what they are! Maybe also Knowledge planes.
Party is currently:
Warpriest
Magus
Cavalier (multiclassing into Bard I think)
Slayer (player on hiatus)
We've got an NPC witch (player had to leave)

Kishai |

OK. looks like Kishai fits well then. Additional melee, sneak, disable device, and I'll swap knowledge(local) for knowledge(nature) just for you. :)
Like I said my other idea was an investigator. If I were to dual-archetype the cartographer and natural philosopher we'd have good survival/nature/geography/knowledge and never get lost. Lots and lots of knowledge, nature, and survival skills but a little less effective in combat, and no real rogue skills other than outdoor sneaking.
I'm very happy with either. They are both builds I've been wanting to play. I'll go for whichever one the group prefers.
Here is a basic build for the investigator. Obviously needs a lot of tweaking but it gives you an idea.

Ouachitonian |

Hmmm. I had been thinking about a paladin, but it looks like y’all have plenty of melee, and with no bonus feats Paladins don’t make great archers. Perhaps step a little outside my comfort zone and go full blaster Sorcerer? Elemental (fire) bloodline, perhaps an ifrit, and sling fire spells all over everywhere. Seems like it’d be effective vs the ice witches. Alternatively, pyrokineticist.

Kishai |

I also noticed the lack of a real caster class, but I'm also not a fan of full casters (or full melee ... I get bored when just going pew pew or smash smash).
One other question...is the NPC witch a permanent addition or just there as a help until recruits showed up? In the second case I could always go witch (another of my favorite classes) and let Ouachitonian go more rogue-ish if that's more in his comfort zone.
Also - I think it said no Occult Adventures in the build rules, so kineticist would be out.

Kishai |

Ok. If Oucha would rather go rogue-ish I'll go witch. Otherwise I'll go with the alchemist or investigator based on group vote

Kishai |

My apologies dear sir. I misspoke. I meant to say "full" caster as in 9 levels of spell progression. My own Magi characters would disown me if I didn't think they were real casters.
Anyways, I've gotten Kishai fully set up and kitted out. I'll be going with her unless Ouachitonian takes up my offer from a few posts ago.
@GM: Should we stick with the original gold from the build rules for purchases or do we get anything additional for being almost lvl 2? I'm good with what I have but never want to pass up the chance for more stuffs.

Kishai |

OK I'm set then. Pending GM approval of build, any additional build or gear rules based on the "almost lvl 2 so I've been out and about a while" concept, and figuring out how to get her into the group, Kishai is done.

Kishai |

That works. I'll dot and delete in gameplay and do a last tweak of the profile to make sure I have all the gear and skills and such how I want them, then wait for a PM.
I've read through the gameplay so far and I have an idea for short background to explain why I'm in the area, should I write that up or will that get covered by you when you have me show up?

Cnut Bjornsson |

This is Ouachitonian, I'll be using this alias. Stats should be good but I haven't really fleshed out the background yet. In brief, he's descended on his father's side from northern half-orcs, one of who came south with ambition to serve in the Ulfen Guard. His mother's family are all ifrits, descended from some fiery outsider centuries ago. Ergo, he's an ifrit sorcerer(crossblooded) with the Elemental(Fire) and Orc bloodlines.

GM Deadly Secret |

Hello everyone,
Hope you all had a great weekend. I ended up taking the rest of the weekend to enjoy the vacation and now I'm back to work. I will have everyone's threads updated at some point today as I have many to get through. Thanks for your patience and let's get this ball rolling again.
Happy Gaming!

Kishai |

@GM - Extracts aren't based on resting, the slots refresh daily at the same time every day whether you rest or not. I noticed that you post the time regularly, so should I just say they refresh at midnight, or pick a time? I ask because I plan on using one extract slot every day to make and drink a 24 hour endure elements, and I have to pick what time I do it so that we know when the effect ends. I just randomly went with 6 am, wanted to know if that was ok.

GM Deadly Secret |

The time is for something much later in the game and it helps players know if it's day or night in game. You usually prepare your extracts like a wizard prepares spells in the morning. Mixing and putting things into your belt pouch ready to toss or drink. When you drink it is up to you.
Also, once players start bringing endure elements you no longer have to make the rolls all together and it's just assumed you always cast it per day until you don't.

Kishai |

NOTE TO PARTY: I was just reading back to see if we missed anything of interest, and the room we first entered (through the window) had a chest in it according to the description. We didn't do a thorough search and didn't check that chest. We've already opened the door and potentially are going to be occupied in a second, so let's not forget to go back in there after we clear out this place.
...honestly since we just got thrown together and are not 100% sure that we're truly allies yet, just going on "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" concept for now, I was playing it that Kishai would not point that out at this point, but instead would check it out herself later. I do agree with what Mordred put in gameplay and I'll just say I have a good feeling about you guys too in order to avoid long discussions to overcome suspicion. We'll probably have to have a "hi, who are you?" discussion eventually though.

Kishai |

Since we haven't had a chance to get to know each other yet in character I figure I'll put hints/prompts here in the discussion tab.
I've noticed that the group (or at least Garrasay) seems interested in resolving things peacefully. Just a heads-up that Kishai uses combat (where she hits and what the result is) as one of the ways to increase her knowledge of biology/anatomy, so her first impulse is combat.
She would be fine with being less impulsive as she's not bloodthirsty or anything, but that would require someone asking/talking to her about the group's priories.
The flip side of the coin is that she'll also be the first to use her healer's kit on foes after combat, since that also will help her increase and/or practice her knowledge.

Garrasay |

Grrrr. Tribe had a saying: Diplomacy was talking before fighting. Stealth was sneaking before fighting. Since everything always ends up in fighting, why not just start with fighting.
Then, later another tried to teach me that talking can avoid fights and lead to things better than smashing your enemies and Petal joined me to help show me the ways of diplomacy. However, it seems that maybe the old pack's words held more wisdom than they were being given credit for. Hhrrrrr

Kishai |

Something I just thought of...Are you preparing the PFS chronicle sheets during this AP? I do a decent amount of organized play as well and wouldn't mind having some chronicles to apply to another character.
I assume we joined too late to qualify for the first on if you are, but curious for the future.

GM Deadly Secret |

The sheets will not be issued until after each book. Yes however, if you want society credit I will be more than happy to report the game with your society number. Let me know your info and I'll add you to my list of others. I will probably double check with everyone after each book as well. Rewards vary on if you do certain things. The RoW chronicles are pretty awesome however!

Kishai |

I've never done the AP -> Chronicle thing before, so I'm not sure all the info you'd need. Obviously:
Player Name - Mat_H
PFS # 341357
Leveling track - medium
Do we need to specify a character to add it to though? I'd hate to pick one now and then have them level out of range before the chronicle gets applied.

GM Deadly Secret |

Um, when I issue the chronicle you will need to tell me so I can submit it on paizo's site, and they are not really fond of us "editing/changing" it later after submission. So stick around to the end of book one, we got a long way to go and lots of time to think about it. The game might even help influence your decision.

Kishai |

Don't worry. I plan to stick around til the end of book six. Haven't been in the group all that long yet but I'm both liking the characters and your GM style.

Kishai |

Just found out I have to take an emergency trip. Should be back on Sunday. Not sure how often I'll be online but I'll try to post from my phone. If full fledged combat starts up again and I'm holding people up feel free to bot me. My priorities would be to take out enemies (2xClaws 1d20+3 (1d4+3)) and then to stabilize unconscious enemies afterwards (heal 1d20+2)

Gavinia Hornsten |

No sweat.

Kishai |

I'm guessing we're going to continue being slow through the end of the holiday season, so I'm just stopping in to say hi and I hope everyone is having a good December so far.

GM Deadly Secret |

Mordred opens the door he's next to. It appears that none of the bandits have claimed this room for their own. It remains dark and silent. The wardrobe contains linens, a washboard, and nothing else of interest.
Kishai disables the lock and when read she opens it.
An L-shaped table with many chairs takes up most of the floor space in this loft. A second smaller table sits near the entrance, and several windows look over the snowy grounds of the lodge. In the southwest corner, a large map hangs on the wall, opposite another door in the northeast wall.
The pile of bones suddenly stirs, rising up to take on a human shape and bursts into white-blue flame. Its long, bony fingers reach out to claw at the living, burning with an unending ice.

Enhanced by her mutagen, Kishai takes a step through the doorway, lunging past the skeleton to her right to clear the doorway and slices at it with her claws.
Yay for good initiative roll. No AoO AND sneak attack damage cuz flatfooted!

"I don't see Rokhar in here! Watch out in case he's trying to sneak past us somehow!"
I just replied to the GM post and then noticed we've somehow moved to the discussion tab. Not sure what to do as this point...leave it here? Copy it to gameplay? Rewrite it on gameplay (but dice rolls might change)?

Satu Varis |

Greetings!
I was asked to join here and fill the ranks. Hopefully this is the right thread.
As you can see in the profile, this is a hag bloodrager level 1.
I'm ready to discuss this, adapt and fill needs if necessary and possible.

Kishai |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

YAY! A claw buddy! All these other people keep using those weird weapon things. It will be nice to flank with someone who understands what it feels like to get your hands right into it.
As far as I know you should fit in as is. I was also a late joiner though so the others might have a better idea of needs. I covered the couple that were mentioned as I joined.
For the group: Is someone leaving or are we just adding a 6th member? If someone is leaving that might create a hole that you need to fill.
Oh - and if you wanted to change races to gnoll, Garrasay would appreciate that. As he said so succinctly:
rrggrrrr. We need more gnolls. Our ratio of gnolls to non-gnolls is dangerously low. rrrrrrrr.

Garrasay |

"Hrrrrg. Thank you Kishai for reminding everyone that our imbalance is growing, I do appreciate it" Garrasay does a half bow to Kishai before turning to Satu. "Welcome to the group Satu. Just to make sure you know what you are getting into, we have successfully been mauled by just about every encounter to date. Grrrrrrrggh"
Garrasay grins toothily and picks a flower from Petal and offers it to Satu. Petal rustles happily at the new companion.
