Reign of Winter GmMaster1986 (Inactive)

Game Master GmMaster1986

When a supernatural pocket of winter appears in the Border Wood near the village of Heldren, the PCs are sent to investigate, and to find and rescue a traveling aristocrat apparently kidnapped by bandits in the wood. At the center of the winter pocket, the PCs discover the source of the unseasonable weather

I'm looking to start a reign of winter adventure. i havent seen many if not any on the board so i wanna give it a try.

Exactly 1,400 years ago, a powerful witch from another world named Baba Yaga arrived on Golarion with her Dancing Hut, a formidable artifact that can travel between worlds and even between the planes. In a quick, brutal conflict known as the Winter War, the self-proclaimed Queen of Witche s conquered the eastern Linnorm Kingdoms of Raemerrund and the Djurstor Confederacy and founded a new nation locked in eternal winter-the land of lrrisen. After installing her daughter Jadwiga on the throne as Irrisen's first queen, Baba Yaga departed in her Dancing hut, but she returned to Irrisen exactly 100 years later to replace Jadwiga with a new daughter, Morgannan, taking the former queen and the first generation of her descendants with her when she left again. Baba Yaga has continued this tradition every 100 years for the last 14 centuries, resulting in a succession of 14 queens of Irrisen. Most people assume Baba Yaga takes her daughters to explore strange new worlds, times, and dimensions, sharing with them the secrets of the multiverse. But the truth, hidden even from Baba Yaga's daughters, is far darker.... mwahahaah!

Are you still interested? Well let me disclose something.

First, I'm pretty new to the play by post thing but i have GMed for many years (think 5) plus i have did skype games for a long time

  • Once the party is completed we'll work on the discussion thread how you came to know each other

Players

  • Knowledge of the setting will be helpful but is not a must I have the players guide if you so need it or want it.
  • Posting once a day during weekdays is expected, I understand weekends are more difficult and will take that accordingly
  • If a player doesn't post for 24 hours after his turn came during combat I will take control of the character until he is able to do so.
  • If a player doesn't post for a whole week without warning his character will become an NPC.
  • Players are expected to push the game forward, taking the initiative and leading the way.

Any questions please email me at Hallk290236@gmail.com or skype me at the same email.
Look forward to the deep freeze.

3+1 campaign trait means 4 total? Or is it one of the three is a campaign trait.

Holy crap. So many APs lately! I read this one a long time ago when I thought I was going to be GMing it, unfortunately. It seemed like it would be so good!

3+1 camp trait for a total of 4

Dotting

I would love to be in this campaign. There were a bunch of them years ago, but the one I was in didn't make it past the first encounter.

if you wanna join goblin then its PC makein time :)

I'm interested. I will fill out Fjeor as a dwarf druid who is a tracker with a crossbow and bear looking into why this unnatural winter has arisen.

Quick background:

Fjeor's family has long had a history of ill luck. Known as stone breaker for mining projects in different generations where the engineering went wrong. They exiled themselves away from the Five Kings Mountains and he was brought up in amongst forests of northern Taldor. Being amongst other peoples as his family wandered broadened his mind and while many of the dwarven traditions are imbued in him, the Verduran Forest is what he first remembers from childhood.

He returned to the Verduran when of age and trained as a druid. While in honor of his ancestors he still wields the weapons of the dwarves bearing his mine protector grandfather’s crossbow with pride. Fjeor sees himself as one of the guardians of the wilderlands befriending another guardian, Tuum the bear.

Both Fjeor and Tuum being of curious mind and often seeking wonderment, sometimes in simple things such as honey mead or the scents of a meadow. They are stern with those who seek to wantonly despoil nature. Fjeor is always surprised to encounter such after knowing those to similar druidic dispositions most of his life.

Having finished his initiation in Fjeor has struck out on his own as a journeyman. But a decision to cross Taldor to visit the Border Wood seems to have been fateful. A piece of unnatural winter has arisen and he must investigate.

Sounds good! You build a character yet?

I'm interested.. will create a character ASAP

Liberty's Edge

Interrested aswell, been looking for this ccampaign for some time.
To clarify does feats from core sources mean only the core rulebook or are the other paizo books also allowed?
Will take a look at the player guide and build a background/character when I'm off from work in a few hours.

Dot. So, it's basically Core-only? Are archetypes of the Core classes allowed?

I'll get something built.

The build is in the profile of this alias, if you click on the name you should see it. I was partially done when you asked, but done now if you want to look it over.

I have a question. I'm planning to make a dwarven fighter using a dorn dergar. I'll be taking a couple of feats out of corse to do this, and would like access to the fighter stuff in weapon masters and armor masters handbooks. I'd like to make sure this is possible before I get to work on a build.

May I introduce Brenna! Surprising how much gold she's left with at the moment since you're allowing max starting wealth. I'll go ahead and post her story and stuff here then.

Born in Asleifar (Linnorm Kingdoms) in 4687, Brenna was for much of her youth a typical Ulfen girl. This changed when she was 12 as her father and older brother died at sea. Having to step up to help provide for her younger sister, Brenna trained and trained with her father's bastard sword. Hiring herself as a minor caravan guard, she knew she would need to do something more to raise her far younger sibling.

Having a family friend take in her sister, Asleifar headed south to Taldor to join the Ulfen Guard, the stories of the vast riches from the old empire luring her to it. However, the Guard was lacking in a position, so Brenna took to being a caravan guard once more, travelling between the small town of Heldren and the surrounding towns, finding the pay slightly better than in the Linnorm Kingdoms.

Brenna stands in at 5'8" with a very good tone build to her that belies her inner strength. Wearing a modified set of Ulfen clothing fit for the far warmer climes of Taldor, she also wears her leathers and Linnorm skirt (armored kilt) nigh always. She has a seepening tan, a side effect of her being where she is. Her hair is burnt red and worn in a single long braid that falls to the small of her back and her eyes are a striking blue in color. Her nose is slightly crooked, having been broken but never properly set in her youth, and a small scar from the bridge of it to the middle of her left cheek can be seen.

Liberty's Edge

My background concept will build her tomorrow. I plan to take the vigilante witch hunter trait.

"Marianna was born to varisian perents traveling with a trading caravan between Tamran through Kaer Maga to Trollheim. She and her older spend much of thier youth attracting customer to the caravan whenever it made a stop near a bigger city, learn to move unseen, with the brothers illusion talents, in between the crowd lifting a few coins here and there.

In her early teenage years her life was turned upside down when they made camp a few days travel from Trollheim, they where assault by a flock of winterwolves with a witch commanding them. While most of the adults in the caravan was quickly slaughtered, Marianna ran for the nearby forest hoping to hide in the trees, however a wolf got a hold of her leg dragging her back out of the forest. She got hold of a thick branch and battered the wolfs head in killing it, while also injurying her leg even more from the bite. Unable to move she could only watch as the witch took her brother and disappeared into thin air along with the wolves.

Marianna would have died in the forest from the wolf bite if not for a band of traveling holykinghts out in the forest hunting a warlock to end him preying on lost travelers. They healed the worst of the wound and took her home to thier temple to nursed her back to health. While there she talked with the priests about her experience and how she was begining to feel a hatred deep inside for the witches which slew her family and kidnapped her brother. The paladins didn't want her to run off striking out in anger against the witches ending up being slain herself, so they started teaching her the ways of the paladin and the fight to protect all that is good from evil.

Marianna stands in at 5'0" slim but strongly build, she looks very dense and the other paladins calls her for a tall dwarf to tease her. She wears a scale mail with the holy symbol of Iomedea on and fights with sword. She still walks with a slight limp but the pain is mostly in her mind the leg have been fully healed though scars are still showing."

All core books and sounds great! Need 2 more people

So it is Core only? I had an idea, but I'd need an archetype from Ultimate Magic, a sorcerer bloodline from another source, and some traits and whatnot from...well, I'm not sure, but traits weren't in the Core Rulebook.

Shoot me the character sheet, I'll take a look at it.

So "Core" meaning just the Core Rulebook? I think there hs been some confusion on that. "Core Races" is easy, as they are defined that way, but some people think of "Core" being the Core book, the Advanced Player's Guide, etc.

Oh, I didn't realize that. I've always wanted to play a fire-focused character in this wintry campaign. Could I submit an Ifrit?

give me a good back story on how he got to where it starts then sure

The Exchange

Here is Hassan, who played the first few encounters of this AP a few years back, but has been on the shelf since. Wouldn't mind getting a little farther this time around.

I will update his traits and gear if it looks like he'll make the cut.

Basically, an inquisitor of Sarenrae, who's sect distrusts non-divine magic as witchcraft. He is also Qadiran in Taldor, which should cause some sparks.

Let me know if you need to see more.

Fluff:
Raised in the desert Plains of Padesh of Qadira, Hassan grew up in a tribe of very fundamental believers in Sarenrae. While followers of other good-aligned gods were at least tolerated, others were persecuted including attacks and burnings. He was trained in the use of the scimitar and longbow as a youth as his tribe as the scourge of the steppes.

Arcane magic users were considered witches in his tribe, and he was raised to hate and fear them. In his early teen years, he lost both his parents to disease, which his tribal shaman attributed to witchcraft. Hence, his hatred which formed early was cemented. The rest of his education was with a church sponsored orphanage in Omash. The priests who run this church have heard of strange happenings in the Border Woods and have sent Hassan, now of age, to investigate.

and now we got a full team!

gameplay is up, for some odd reason it wont let me in the gameplay tab so its in discussion

And I just missed this. :(

Is this full?

I have this character I built just for this ap but haven't been able to play yet.

I've never heard of "core" referring to more than the single core rulebook before. How strange. I almost didn't even read past that.

(note, I'd have to change race, but as she is recently reincarnated, that doesn't matter so much to the character. It would cut into her connection to the lore though)
