You probably have a few days time or so.

Grand Lodge

OK, I have updated the changes. I have added 10 days of food (I can buy more if needed), added the 2 spells I mentioned (neither of which is a long term solution), swapped my Str and Cha. I should be able to carry my current gear plus a bit extra, and for a 8 hours one of our team (the strongest) can act as a workhorse and pull a wagon, or I can create a disk to carry some stuff. Depending on how far away we are from civilization we may have to think about mules and/or stashing loot until we can collect it later.

I'm sorry, but I'll have to withdraw my interest. It looks like you already have someone else building for the skill role though.

@Oyzar: Just build one. Cause more than likely, being a trap breaker will be leathal. So having a back up for the party will be good.

Dark Archive

Well, it looks like I'm ready to go...I am nearly at capacity and I have everything I need for the trip...except my library, I miss it already. Wait, I'll buy a horse with a pack saddle.
300 for the military trained heavy horse, I'll name him Macintosh Apple, he likes to buck trees to gather fruit to eat. I'll get him a pack saddle so he can carry his max weight. Everything I don't need on my person is in his saddle. I'm getting extra food too. Not rations, real food, costs more, but I'll have them for a few meals during the travel. Being as cerebral as I am, my bag is meticulously organized, but there is plenty of room for others to include there things...if you ask...and catch Teret in a good mood. Trading is always a great way to boost his desire to assist...a book with knowledge of any kind might tickle his fancy, or a book of riddles.
Heavy combat trained horse 300 gp
Pack saddle 5 gp
Bit and bridle 2gp
Barding Leather Lamellar 240 gp
1,000 Fortune cookies (he thinks Nethis speaks to him in the fortunes found inside the cookies) 10gp
10 meals of real food 5 gp
10 extra days of rations 15 gp
I now have 630 gp which I will keep in my pathfinder pouch with all my fortune cookies.

@Teret 'En Narn Nowe

You need to put Spells, Feats, HP, AC, Combat information, Equipment etc., etc. onto your character sheet so that you (and the GM, and anyone else who's interested) can have a handy record to look at rather than searching all over the place for the relevant information. Just makes things easier and tidier.

Dark Archive

I have two campaigns this character is in...but I'll be modifying my character sheet momentarily.

@Teret
You could always create another alias and just copy the profile over.

For HP, can we take average? Especially if we're going to go for a 25-point-buy instead of rolling anything?

Nope, hp has to be rolled, sorry. Changing it now would be unfair if I didn't allow people who've already rolled to choose the other option, and I'm not going to do that.

Rolling HP...

HP: 3d10 ⇒ (6, 8, 5) = 19

Here's my submission with the adjusted HP.

Teret 'En Narn Nowe, Samsaran Seer Oracle
Agyen the Eternal, Samsaran Psychic
Reynaud La Croix, Human Unbreakable Fighter
Magnus Tate, Human Arcanist
Belle, Elven White Mage Arcanist
Tessai, Kyton-spawn Tiefling Oath of Vengeance Paladin with Oracle dip
Shogunto Heineous, Half-orc Enlightened Paladin (Needs Fluff)

Updated the table of characters.

Updated with background :)

Updated with gear as suggested.

Right then. Do you guys want to wait for someone to build something with trap-finding, or go ahead and form a party from the availible characters with no way of disarming traps? I believe your survival chances will marginally increase, but I also think that there's a way to circumvent all the instant-death-traps at least, without a trapfinder in the group at all.

Dark Archive

If someone wishes, a wand of trap finding is only 750. I can use it without UMD...I just don't have the money.

Remember that he said you could buy a partially charged wand. Could you afford one with 5 charges? At least I'm pretty sure he did because I bought a bunch. If not, I need to update my gear... again.

I did. A partially charged wand of cure light wounds costs 15gp per charge.

I see Teret has 630gp. That'd buy him a partially charged wand of cure light wounds with 42 charges exactly.

Thoughts on trapfinding? Do you feel you need it?

Putting a Trapper together later tonight, fwiw.

I can rebuild my character to work as our trapfinder if needed - it'd be my pleasure doing so. Just give me until tomorrow night.

Eh, whoever gets something done first is likely to get a spot. I quite feel like getting on with this.

On the plus side, I'll probably be killing off characters pretty regularly, so if people don't want to reroll, I'll probably need to recruit more fresh meat players pretty soon.

@Archlich
all yours dude. I'll catch the next go round.

I'll finish my unchained rogue tonight!

I just need to finish class first and I'll post it.

Fluff:

Tony is all about "the profession". Ever since he can remember he's been working at. Picking up a spell hear, a secret there, anything that could give him an edge.

As he got older, the skills and abilities that got requested got a bit more...complex. You need into vault door with a magic trap on it, 1000 gold plus Hazard. An Escadar Special, 500 gold. 550 if you need smoke pellets. Someone missing, 5 gold and party. Need someone poisoned? "Go talk to the Cult of Norgorber, I'm running an 'honest' business here."

Tony may be unsavory at times, but he has heart. And he has a soft heart for the downtrodden. But he's going to be who he is, and do the dirty things he got to do. And if you run the dungeons with him, he'll have your back.

Just, when he says stop, you stop. He's tired of dragging people out of pits.

Tony, you have just solved all the problems I ever had with playing a human rogue - Darkvision :D

Can you tell me where to find the Dim Dweller ability?

It's Blood of Shadows.

Dark Archive

Well, if Teret is chosen for this search for knowledge, he will gladly accompany you treasure seekers...aiding with his vast knowledge and his connection with his deity. (Seriously...I can have a knowledge check over 40...it's crazy!) I don't always speak in third person, but Teret must do what Teret must do for Teret sometimes, right Teret 'En Narn Nowe? Right you are...well, sometimes. Hey! I resemble that remark. (I won't play him with this quirk...it's just super late...and I might have had a little dwarven ale...it was half price cause I chatted up the bar keep.)

Derz wrote:

I can't find it yet in PFSRD?

Teret 'En Narn Nowe, Samsaran Seer Oracle
Agyen the Eternal, Samsaran Psychic
Reynaud La Croix, Human Unbreakable Fighter
Magnus Tate, Human Arcanist
Belle, Elven White Mage Arcanist
Tessai, Kyton-spawn Tiefling Oath of Vengeance Paladin with Oracle dip
Shogunto Heineous, Half-orc Paladin of Irori
Tony Tanner, Human Unchained Rogue (Needs gear, including food)

@Albion, it's under human racial traits, listed in one word. "Dimdweller". A search doesn't return anything.

Gotcha.

I'll be playing a paladin, using the 25 point buy

human paladin
str 20
dex 12
con 14
int 7
wis 8
cha 18

hp: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
hp: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
hp: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

not too bad.

You're not exactly carving out a niche for yourself there, but if you can make it nicer than the other two paladins already submitted, knock yourself out.

I'd rather have everyone submitting what they want to play than have people playing to fulfil roles they didn't want, after all.

More HP: 2d8 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8

Out of curiosity, do you allow early entry prestige classes? I have an idea for an eldritch knight I'd like to play when (if) my character dies and I'd like to know if I can enter early or not. It makes a difference to what race I play, and of course Attack Bonus, feats, etc., at least until level 18.

I'll say that I follow the rules. How are you planning to enter early? If it's with SLAs, the answer is no. That was legal once, but is not any more.

Something like rogue 1/wizard 3 with accomplished sneak attacker could enter arcane trickster at level 5, however, despite this being earlier than is usual.

Hey Olaf, Archlich here - I'd like to replace my previous application and present Gareth, a very different type of trapfinder.

Yeah, that'll do. Imma go with the following characters:

Agyen the Eternal, Samsaran Psychic
Reynaud La Croix, Human Unbreakable Fighter
Magnus Tate, Human Arcanist
Belle, Elven White Mage Arcanist
Tessai, Kyton-spawn Tiefling Oath of Vengeance Paladin with Oracle dip
Gareth Gudrum, Gnome Unchained Monk/Trapper Ranger/Synthesist Summoner

The six of you should head on over to the OOC thread. We'll talk more there.

Thanks for taking me on board Olaf ;)

Aww. You have fun guys.

Dark Archive

Hmmm...can I ask what caused me to be bumped? If it's something I can handle better I gladly will work on it.

Olaf the Holy wrote:

Sure I know it's no longer legal, but a lot of GMs allow it. Still can't figure out why they ruled it illegal, I've never heard of a character that became OP because of it.

But fine, I'll happily play it according to the rules.

Don't feel bad. Nearly all recruitment threads are way oversubscribed and there are always more people dropped than taken; often it's not even the quality of the build that gets you dropped and the GM has to make some tough decisions and make almost arbitrary choices. It could even be something as simple as 'that role was taken'. My advice is, keep trying. If you like that character, try him in another recruitment thread, eventually he will get accepted (you may have to amend him to fit the recruitment criteria). Otherwise, try a different character, either way: don't give up.

Dark Archive

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I was testing a few RP things regarding my character trying to figure out what works. I was hoping something stuck out as an issue so I knew what certainly didn't work, but if nothing in that area was the issue...I guess I'll try something else...elsewhere.
