About Shogunto Heineous

Background:

- Points that capture the concept and story of the character:

  • * Shogunto is a native Wati. He was raised on the streets, almost like an animal, and very few cared for him during his childhood. He almost didn't learn to speak Common.
  • * Raised on the poorest corners, Shogunto ended up adopted by local goblin thieves and used for distraction. His "family" ended up taking a like for the kid, regardless of their initial intentions.
  • * The keleshite boy isn't an adventurer per se and has no training. He's a brute, a socially awkward barbarian with a heart of gold.
  • * As he aged - and his "adoptive family" died or moved away - his Common improved. He continued being someone unlearned, but started working as a gardener. That's why he fights with an improvised weapon - a crevice weeder.
  • * Besides gardening, which he isn't really any great at, Shogunto serves many times as a guide for local caravans since he knows the city and surroundings fairly well.

- Goals to accomplish in-game

  • * Shogunto would like to be recognized as a person more than as a pet; he wanted to brave the nearby tombs, which he never entered, and become a hero and explorer.
  • * He would love to learn more about his true roots... Where he came from, actually. He knows he isn't a goblin.

- Secrets

  • * Shogunto never learned how to read or write, but keeps it to himself and pretends he knows. He actually speaks Goblin better than Common and, like some of his adoptive "relatives", he nurtures a certain hatred towards written words.
  • * He was abandoned as a child by Osiriani nobles; fruit of a forbidden relationship that ended up killing the mother on the birth, Shogunto was taken as a bad omen and left to die, but somehow survived. He has a birthmark that can identify his actual roots.

- 3 to 5 people tied to him

  • * Squeeze and Booba Half-Tooth are two goblin rogues that lived on the streets of Wati. The two mate adopted a human child - Shogunto - and taught him how to speak and hunt like a Goblin. They hoped to use his size and appearance as a perfect decoy for their "heists", but ended up liking the boy and took care of him as if he was their true child. They had several other children, and the big green family for almost a decade survived the underground paths stealing and partying. Finally the local authorities "cleaned" the streets, and most of them fled to other nearby cities. The parents, though, ended up dying, and Shogunto decided to stay behind at Wati.
  • * Hazeen Al-Nadi is a local merchant in Wati and the first one to employ Shogunto as a gardener for his desert petunias. The young boy didn't have any true aptitude for it, but Hazeen liked to laugh at him and his broken Common, treating him almost like a pet for years.
  • * Lady Amarana Uri Onffar employed Shogunto after Hazeen. While by that time he was slightly more skilled, she was hiring him mostly out of pity for his situation. At his point, he wasn't paid anymore solely on food, but rather made some coins for himself. Lady Amarana was a gentle old lady and introduced the young man to the nearby lodges.
  • * Kaze "Kat" Morn is a local guide for the lodges and the main contact from Shogunto when he's hired to lead small caravans on the deserts. He's an unpolite man, but gave true training for the boy on the survival arts and filled the role of a mentor for the brief months they worked together.

- Three key memories

  • * Shogunto remembers the very first time he and his "parents" managed to score big when they attacked a fruits wagon near the square of Wati and ended up finding a golden holy symbol around the rotten food. It was thanks to his tall arms that they were able to reach the lock on the back of the wagon and his parents praised him for it.
  • * When he first met Lady Amarana, outside the gardens of Hazeen. It was the first time he actually communicated well in Common, and he still remembers the beautiful green eyes of the old lady as she immediately went to negotiate with Hazeen to have the gardener's services from that point on.
  • * Finally, he remembers the sad moment when he returned back home and found his parents slayed and his siblings gone. Although it was all done by the local authorities, Shogunto never truly held it against anyone - in their core, the goblins always knew this could happen. Instead, he sang a long song about the happy times they had and proceeded to burn the bodies.

- Fear or Paranoia

  • Shogunto fears the arcane arts in general, but he hides it well; however, he truly nurtures a big fear towards magical runes and symbol-based spells.
