Belle’s shot goes wide, and the light reveals no sign of the hobgoblin, but illuminates the rough floor of a larger cavern. Tony bounds into the flames, and miraculously remains standing and only singed by the fire. Reynaud raises his shield, taking a defensive stance and Gilda steps up next to him. Sier and Brodin move toward the inferno hall while Garrosh stands and moves to the end of the passage.

The hallway opens up into a large cavern, of which, Garrosh can only see a small portion of it. Movement in front and above him catches his eye. Ten yards ahead of him, a rough rock pillar rises into the darkness, but a low opening or ledge ten feet up catches his eye, as does the movement of a shadow.

The webbing begins to tear as the hobgoblins struggle within.
From out of the arrow slits in the flaming hallway come a hail of arrows, but none of them penetrate our heroes’ defenses. Garrosh hears a guttural voice from the cavernous space before him call out something in a language he does not understand.

Up next: all y'all, any order.

The arrow slits are those grey hashmarks along the entire length of the hallway.

Male Human Unchained Rogue 5

Arrows whizzing around him, hissing through the flames, Tony keeps moving. One hand in front of his face, he slips over the oil and onto solid ground, beating at the flames. He shoves past, Garrosh and rounds a corner of the wall and sees seven goblins, lined up at the arrow slits.

For a beat, he just stares. At first, he takes a step back, spotting what he thinks is another hobgoblin, lurking in the shadows of the cavernous crag he's entered.

Then he rushes up to the first of the goblins, his knife drawn.

First off, Tony gets 2 AoO's. You do not threaten the two behind the arrow slits, and they don't get penalties for cover or concealment per the rules for arrow slits. Don't worry, the only way they can hit you is to crit.

Bad luck on the Acrobatics, so you go prone. I'll say you slide two squares, because you didn't have the running start that Garrosh had. Good news is you are not on fire. Bad news is, you still take 3 Fire damage. Good news is I'm considering that only a move action.

Recap

As Tony navigates the corridor, two arrows come flying out of the arrow slits. He turns the corner and comes to a quick stop, seeing the line of eight hobgoblin archers turn toward him.

Gilda looks at Reynaud over her shoulder and says "Fire, I can do." The druid begins to chant, as she steps backward toward the retreating warrior.

Garrosh can only see moving shadows up on the ledge. He cannot make out what is making the shadows, but they look humanoid. Moving in to engage the hobgoblin archers, he cleaves one in twain.

Seir dashes into the flaming corridor, but slips and goes down. He does manage to get to his feet a short way down the hall. Belle steps up to take his place, moving the lights, revealing more hobgoblins on the darkened ledge ahead.

Next Round
The fire dies down around the priest of Sarenrae, leaving a sticky, but not slippery residue on the floor. Easy enough to navigate without an issue, and with no threat of catching fire now.

From out of the north arrow slits comes a hail of arrows narrowly missing Belle and Seir. The hobgoblins Garrosh and Tony have come upon, fire off a colley at the duo, missing, before falling back and drawing swords. From behind, four hobgoblins emerge from the darkness on the ledge and lob flasks of alchemist fire down, but only manage in splashing Brodin. Another volley of arrows comes from behind Tony and Garrosh, from across a dark chasm in the floor. Brodin calls out, "They've got us flanked!"

Gilda completes her incantation and a fire elemental roars to life moving into the webs to attack the entangled hobgoblin. While the fire fails to catch the hobgoblin on fire, it does succeed in freeing it from the webs. Afterwhich, Gilda moves back by Reynaud. That will keep them busy for a while.

The chasm is ten feet wide. The ledge is 10 feet above the floor. There are 4 hobgoblins on the other side of the chasm, and another 4 on top of the ledge.

Tony looks up to the goblins on the ledge and sneers. He steps up to one of the flasks of alchemical fire they had thrown at him, taking out a small clay sphere. Inside are two alchemical substances separated by a thin barrier. Still staring at the hobgoblins, he tosses the orb ten feet feet in front of him, where it breaks into a cloud of foul but harmless yellow smoke.
"That'll only last for a few seconds," he warns as he turns around, looking at the goblins that he and Garrosh had cornered. Passing the dagger back and forth from one hand to the other, "You'll find some arrows over here, Brodin."

Summary

Seir advances, his spiritual scimitar slashing one of the hobgoblins on the ledge. Garrosh roars and chops the head off another. Tony tosses a smoke pellet. Belle disappears while Reynaud and Gilda maintain the rear. Gilda's fire elemental scorches the hobgoblin in front of it, setting it on fire. Brodin fires another three arrows at the hobgoblins at the ledge (Ki 0/7), and another hobgoblin goes down.

Next Round

The hobgoblins on the ledge take shots at Seir before backing down the corridor behind them, out of sight. With no viable target, the spiritual weapon returns tothe priest's side. The flaming hobgoblin in the exit hallway drops to the ground in an attempt to put out the fire. However, it is too late and stops struggling as his body is further consumed in flames. His companion frantically tries to free himself from the restraining webs, but is unsuccessful. The five that Garrosh are facing off against fire one last volley of arrows before dropping their bows, moving toward cover and drawing their blades. All but one of the arrows don't even come close to the half-orc, while one of them strikes the heavy plate mail and shatters, doing no damage. Another arrow comes at Tony from across the dark chasm, missing. And then two hobgobins run from around the rock pillar, swinging wildly at Seir and Tony, but failing to land a damaging blow on either of the duo.

"The elemental will only remain for a few more seconds." The warrior gives her a look ,and she falls back, picking up arrows from the dead hobgoblins. Brodin quickly ducks into the cavern, firing a quick shot at the wounded humanoid next to Seir. His arrow catches the hobgoblin in the throat and it falls backward. Gilda's fire elemental advances, burning the webs before it, taking a swing at the entangled hobgoblin. While it misses, t does manage to catch the webs surrounding it on fire, singing the hobgoblin as it frees it.

Next Round

Freed from the Webbing, the hobgoblin withdraws back through the webbing. Seeing himself surrounded, the hobgoblin sergean ttakes a step toward Brodin, swinging (attempting to Cleave) at the unarmored dwarf, but missing. Two hobgoblins rush Garrosh, and a third appears from aropund the corner attempting to swarm the ravaging half-orc. Garrosh cuts one down, as the others gang up on him, but they fail to penetrate the warpriest's heavy armor. The fourth hobgoblin appears from around a corner and rushes Brodin. Unaware that the unarmored dwarf is so dodgy, the humanoid's blade swings at empty space. From the north and northeast comes another hail of arrows all aimed at Tony, the only target they can see. All but one of the missiles miss the rogue, and the one that hits is deflected by his armor.

Garrosh has nothing more to say by now, as there is little chance these hobgoblins are the cultists that ravaged the settlement he had come to call home for a short time.

They don't seem inclined to respond to his threats and surrender, so he reverts to simply fighting as best as he can.

Step back, swinging at the one to the south.

Another one down. Wow, they are fanatic in their defense of their home that you invaded.

Male Human Unchained Rogue 5

Realizing he's drawing the goblin archers' fire, Tony opts to fight a little more defensively; he hunches his shoulders, ducks down and angles his body to make a smaller target and keep his neckguard between him and the arrows as he moves up behind the goblin flanking Brodin.

Clasping a hand over the goblin's mouth, he draws his blade across its throat. That done, he flicks the blade over his hand, splashing blood on the ground and fishes for another smoke pellet from his pack.

Belle tears around the corner, just to see her way blocked by a couple of hobgoblins crowding the narrow corridor. she quickly reverses direction after sending the dancing lights forward and then back again ahead of her. The rest of the party see her dancing lights disappear to the southeast and then reappear.

Recap

Garrosh slays another one, while Tony slit's the one's throat in front of him. While it does not kill him outright, the hobgoblin looks bewildered. Belle's lights disappear and then reappear from around a corner. Seir's scimitar flashes out twice in the dim light, connecting once. Brodin steps back and fires two arrows at the hobgoblin next to Seir and Tony, striking once. Gilda rounds the corner, her sling spinning, and lets the stone fly, striking the sergeant as well.

Reynaud, as either a defend or a double move from you will not impact this round, I'm going to push ahead. Please take 2 rounds worth of actions when you log in.

Next Round

The lone hobgoblin facing Garrosh, and the one who just attacked Brodin, look at the carnage of their dead brethren on the floor, look at each other and drop their swords, kneeling with their hands behind their heads. The one between Tony, Seir and Brodin screams something out in a language most of you don't understand, steps away from the Prist and archer, and strikes out at Tony. As focussed as the strike was, it was insufficient to get through the rogue's defenses.

The two hobgoblins Belle encountered cautiously come around the corner, spying the melee before them. Their bowstrings twang twice, bot their arrows go wide. Four arrows come at Seir from over the chasm to the east, but are deflected by the spiritual protection surrounding the priest.

The four hobgoblins to the north, unaware of the carnage of their brethren, swarm Seir and Tony. Their blades are incapable of penetrating the priest's defenses. The purple and pink-dotted ones took double moves to reach Tony.

UP NEXT: all y'all, any order. Reynaud, double actions please.

"Smart move" - Garrosh growls at the surrendering hobgoblins, grabbing the first one by the scruff of his neck and dragging him along to join the other one and tie them up.

Basically dragging the red one next to the blue one, and tying them up together.

"No one touch these!" - he grunts obviously, in Tony's direction - "As for the rest of you, how about being as smart as your fellow in arms here?!" - the orc shouts back at the remaining hobgoblins - "We do not want your homes or your lives you fools!"

Male Human Unchained Rogue 5

It's a little difficult for Tony to make a rude hand gesture at Garrosh, considering the smoke pellet he's holding but he manages it. He tries to shoulder past one of the goblins in order to get behind another but cannot bring his knife to around enough to deal a strike.

I've got to be honest...

...I think this goblin might have gotten Tony; he's pushed his AC to 23 by fighting defensively.

Garrosh drags one of those who surrendered over to the other, and brought some rope out of his pack. Tony moves into a less flanked position, and attempts to stab the hobgoblin, but almost manages to cut his fingers off as the blade slips in his hands. It's almost as if the blade intentionally twisted in the rogue's hands to get at his blood. Seir's scimitar flashes out twice at the hobgoblin's neck, striking true, but still the humanoid stands.

Going to take you a while to tie them up. EDIT: Aparently it takes 1 round to tie one opponent up when they are pinned. So, Garrosh takes his rope out on this round. Next round he can tie one up.

Sorry I lost track of my games lately.

I thought we were staying in place. Plans changed I guess.

He barely catches up to Brodin.

Belle dashes towards the southwest but does not see anything worth pursuing. Seeing the two other Hobs approaching from the east she decides to help Tony with a Vanish spell.

Spell Failure: 1d100 ⇒ 2

So now I need to know. Is high a failure or low?
