Belle PBP
Belle looks with shock at the gravestone. "Perhaps it is an illusion? Then again, the magic of this place could be as mysterious as they say." She gives a sidelong glance at Gareth to see what his reaction will be.
I want to give it a poke, but do I dare? I wonder if it will be my name next.

"We have been observed by rats. There are creatures that can use rats as spies. I don't know why they went for such an elaborate...display. I suspect its psychological, or perhaps we are meant to dig it up or be distracted. But the motivation is a little obscure."

Oh, won't you look at that? What a coincidence! - says Gareth, sarcastically, before starting to check around.

Olaf the Holy wrote:The eastmost mausoleum is perhaps 50ft. long, and 40ft. wide, and the room inside seems to correspond to those dimensions."Well, we can deal with the southern mauseleum later, I guess. Right now, shall we go in and investigate this one and perhaps the one tot he west?"
Did we actually go into the east mausoleum or did we just look inside and run away like cowards? I know for dang sure Belle is not going in there alone!
Olaf the Holy
Gareth, largely unconcerned with dire warnings of impending doom, searches the double doors for traps, locating nothing of the sort.
Agyen, too, is unable to find any. His magical detections avail him not - there's nothing to be found.
Agyen, I'm not quite sure what you're rolling for information on here, sorry.
It also starts raining, a light but insidious drissle that will inflitrate most nonwaterproof garments within minutes. You're safe under the mausoleum's door, but you'll probably be fighting gargoyles in it.
At least the ground is already muddy.
Belle PBP
"I think we should go in here and poke around a bit. Maybe we'll find another key! Gareth, could you have a Kaloora or a summoned dog sniff around for a bit?"
Agyen the Eternal
I was rolling for identification on the gravestone, but since its not magic...
"Digging it up won't be necessary."
Agyen goes back to the grave and pokes it.

"Yes" referring to the west mausoleum.

"I think we should go in here and poke around a bit. Maybe we'll find another key! Gareth, could you have a Kaloora or a summoned dog sniff around for a bit?"
Kaloora is already summoned - merged to me. I can't do my min/level summons while she's out, only summons for 4 rounds with my spells - not my intention out of combat
Well, anything I could summon would only last for less than 30 seconds, so I'm not sure it'd be of much help. - he says, giving his shoulders.
GM: are we in bright light at the moment?
Belle PBP
Assuming the distant examination of the room provides soemthing more useful that that of the east building, Belle recommends, "Very well then, let's go with Magnus plan and see if we can blind these gargoyles at a distance and deal with them piecemeal."
Belle PBP
I guess we waltz on up in marching order and when Belle gets in range she lets loose with the Glitterdust. I tried to add an icon to the map but was unable to."
"Off we go then!"
Belle makes her own preparations by taking her wand out of its 'holster'.
Agyen the Eternal
Okay, assuming the party goes along with this plan, we're attacking from 140 ft. away?
If the party wants to attack:
"Before we launch our attack, I have a few preparations."

5' is better, and one square offset, that way you cover more of our flanks and they can't land in our midst; you won't be in the area of effect of any burning hands that I cast and I can actually hit anyone attacking you with my reach weapon as they will be 10' away from me. Not that I'm likely to do that much, but it gives us options.
Belle PBP
Belle leads off with the planned casting of Glitterdust (DC 18 Will or blinded for 4 rounds). Then when her init comes around follows with Vanish.
"Now!"
Though her statement is probably redundant since everyone, including the gargoyles can see her start to cast.
Olaf the Holy
Will 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Will 3: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
The gargoyles shudder to life, small flakes of emerald stone and dust washing off them with the rain, and launch themselves into the air, their flight leading them to a circle some twenty feet above your heads.
It's a series of straight trajectories, favoring speed over say, the ability to dodge death-dealing arrows. So if you've got any of those handy, now would be a good time.
Two of them are covered head to claws in glitter.
Agyen the Eternal
As Belle casts her spell, a blue dagger of force materializes next to the gargoyles, stabbing at them.
Focused force spiritual weapon: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 281d10 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Oh my... This looks sooo bad...
I'm going to stay on Belle's side, because Gareth's AC is through the roof. In fact I suggest a triangle made up by me, Reynaud and Gareth, with Aygen, Belle and Magnus is the middle back to back.
"Come to me then you dogs!" - the paladin roars, taking a step forward, and slashing at the closest gargoyle.

Reynaud La Croix
Reynaud moves back to be adjacent to the spellcasters, muttering.

Moving back into the middle between Belle, Magnus, and Agyen. If the gargoyles make any attacks on them in this round, Reynaud will use Bodyguard and In Harm's Way as necessary.
Belle PBP
Belle will delay until right after the Gargoyles. There is nothing to heal right now :)
Olaf the Holy
The gargoyles all come crashing down on you, apparently unbothered by various blinding magic, like unholy destruction raining like - well, rain - from the sky.
This close, it's pretty clear that their eyes are actually emeralds. Those of you who know about anatomy can tell that that would make them nearly fist-sized. If you manage to kill these things and pry the eyeball from the sockets of their dead skulls, you'll pretty much have it made for like, at least an upgrade to your weapon.
Not that there's much time to contemplate that. There's deadly claws to deal with first. And horns. And those jaws of theirs look impressively, arm-bone-breakingly strong - there's vicious fangs in there too.
At least they're not actively oozing goo. The green theme might've suggested acid.
Magnus' spear comes up to poke at one of the gargoyles, while Tessai's blade is ready to offer a warm welcome to another.

8Clawcharge vs Tessai: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26, 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Reynaud, I had kept that space so I can move back this round to cast or attack. We're still learning how to work together as a team, but we will need to think about how best to use your bodyguard abilities with a casters need to move out of melee.
Reynaud La Croix
Reynaud swings at the gargoyle near him and Magnus, his muttering getting louder until he is roaring his chant.
