Elathras Narcinal |

Elathras blushes "Sorry, I meant 'is Sarracek the nasty undead with all the friends that lives down the hall." Turning to Dolgin "I left my pack with Sarracek so I don't have any oil, but that sounds like a good idea." turning back to Marthek, remembering his evil smile. "Unless Marthek, you can tell us which magic item put this awful curse on you!"

Wdrozgrúk |

"Probably the club, as a guess."
"He doesn't seem to care about the book right now."
And then, addressing Marathek:
"You are NOT very terrifying, being tied up as you are!"
"Tell us EVERYTHING you know about this place."
"Or else I'll set YOU on fire."
"Without being dead first!"
intimidate: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

brvheart |

Intimidate:
Action: Coercing a target into acting friendly for hours takes 1d4 × 10 minutes. Coercing a target into acting friendly for days requires you to successfully use coercion at least once per week for 1d6 weeks without failing any Intimidate checks against the target during that time.
Try Again: You can’t attempt long-term coercion against the same target again for 1 week.
"Ha! You funny little goblin! And Sarracek has no need for oil.
RRrraaa!!!!"
intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
He returns he favor on Gruk. And Gruk is shaken for 2 rounds.
str chk: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 He bursts the bonds and hands them to Elathras.

Elathras Narcinal |

curious, I placed Elathras behind him holding a sword so if he tried to escape he would cut him down. I wasn't expecting anyone to try and intimidate, and I wasn't expecting him to try and intimidate back. I assume that Gruks intimidate to get information didn't work. So does attempting to intimidate for shaken put us into combat rounds? Or Is bursting his bonds the beginning of combat rounds? When Do we roll initiative? and how many attacks does Elathras get before Marathek turns to hand him the ropes?

brvheart |

He is still sitting there making no threatening moves so unless you wish to attack him....

Elathras Narcinal |

Elathras reaches out and takes the rope, looking very confused for a moment he then asks; "Why'd you go and do that? Never mind, so is this Sarracek the undead that lives south of hear with other undead?"

Elathras Narcinal |

Hearing that Sarracek was far away, Elatrhas looks at the others and then asks "Marthek, do you know how to get to the outside?"

Elathras Narcinal |

Taking the time to tie the big guy up and then dragging him out in the hallway so he is away from the club, the acid pots and the spike on the wall for impaling people; Elathras stands behind the prisoner with his sword drawn ready to attack. "Go ahead, wake him up, were ready."
before we started the interrogation, I said we moved him out of the room, can we do that on the map so if this goes to combat he is out of the room away from the club and pots?

Kaztor Strongforge |

"Let's get him away before trying to burn the items. I don't want to burn him too, if he throws himself on the burning pyre!"

brvheart |

Ok, you get him out of the room and burn the spell book and the club. It does not burn well but now has the broken condition.
Where do you want to go now?

Elathras Narcinal |

Gruk wanted to return to the room with the dirt ceiling to see if there was an exit there.
Waiving good by to the big guy, Elathras begins heading east toward the room at the end of the hall. "OK Gruk we will go back to the room with the dirt ceiling, then what?"

brvheart |

Strangely, the walls, ceiling and floor of this room are made of
hard-packed dirt. As you look up, a slight trickle of loose dirt falls
from the ceiling to the ground.

brvheart |

None, you are at least 40' underground. But there is a passageway going out to the north.

brvheart |

While it does not appear to be sound at first glance, you can tell that it is not going to fall in any time soon Irenicus. The dwarves, on the other hand view it as very unstable just looking at it!

Elathras Narcinal |

Gruk, the only north I see is the tunnel in the cave, do you mean there?
Elathras looks into the cave-like area, "Gruk, do we want to explore for a way out here in the cave, or do we want to look some place else?" Pointing to the hallway south.
there are doors in the hall we were in that we didn't explore and a hall to the south we didn't explore, any choices?

brvheart |

He does not detect any magic. In fact he thinks a fireball would not collapse this room! The dwarves, on the other hand...

Elathras Narcinal |

Elathras shrugs his shoulders, "Ok, Gruk, we will explore the dirt tunnels." Sword in one hand, torch in the other, Elathras takes point and begins to follow the tunnel north, keeping a keen eye out.
I assume we would continue till we find something interesting

brvheart |

Sunlight penetrates the ceiling of this cavern. Innumerable fungi cover
the walls and floor. Bats can be seen flitting about the ceiling, and rat squeaks can be heard within the cave. A rotted rat corpse lies a few feet inside. Various mosses, plants and rat tunnels occupy this room.

brvheart |

All the sudden these purple mushrooms start giving off an ear piercing shriek!!!

Elathras Narcinal |

fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Seeing the light, Elathras points up, "Hey look Gruk, sunlight." hearing the screams he looks and points, "Hey look Gruk, screaming purple mushrooms!" dropping his torch he plans for the worst.
init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Elathras Narcinal |

Seeing more fungus than he can count, Elathras leaving the torch where he dropped it, runs out of the well lit cavern, calling "Go back! it's full of funny purple screamers"
Withdraw

Elathras Narcinal |

after escaping the mad mushrooms, Elathras shuts the door going from the mud room to the hallway, "Shall we keep opening doors then?" After asking his question Elathras goes back to the last door, and after finding it locked he asks "Hey Beltin can you unlock the door?"

brvheart |

The room contains 11 rat skeletons and smells horrible. There is also an old brass spittoon which contains a thick layer of vile liquid.

Elathras Narcinal |

following Beltin into the room with the spittoon, Elathras sees a door to the south, he also checks the door carefully looking for locks or traps. "Hey look Gruk an spittoon and a door, maybe it leads outside."
perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17

Elathras Narcinal |

seeing the stairs going down, Elathras pulls his scarf back over his nose and suggests, "I don't think that down is the direction we want to go, can we go look someplace else?"
Leaving the stairwell and the room with the spittoon, Elathras goes back to the hallway, to the last locked door and asks, "Beltin would you unlock this door too?"

Kaztor Strongforge |

Kaz tries to keep his Detect Magic cantrip active, checking for any magical items they encounter while bouncing from room to room.

brvheart |

Well, it is not magical but you notice a glint in the spittoon Kaz.

Kaztor Strongforge |

"Something strange in the spittoon, boys. Anyone feeling like having a look see? There's something that seemed to gleam just a bit."

Wdrozgrúk |

"Let me see if I can fish that thing out..."
Gruk will cast a Mage Hand cantrip to try and lift out the shiny thing out of the spittoon without actually touching it.
Were we forced to flee from the room with the purple screamers?
I still have lots of first level spells (i.e. Burning Hands in particular) to deal with them.
Still keen on getting above ground, albeit temporary, for us to take a breather and stuff before going back in.
I'll also be away from the computer for much of the rest of the day, but will check in later.

Elathras Narcinal |

hey Gruk, I'm good with that, but there were a lot of them and Elathras is still at 15 strength with 6 of 14 rages. So if were going to try them can we rest and get Elathras strength back or does someone else want to take point and Elathras support them? Maybe you go in and burn a couple, using the spells then we rest and finish tomorrow?
After the spittoon lets see what is in the last locked room in the hallway, Then decide. I'm good for whatever you want to do, I just didn't want to fight dozens of mushrooms at half strength.
post script: in roll 20 brv said level three is a difficulty of "level 8" so what ever we do, I recommend we finish level two and three and get some HP, possibly even some outside, before we try it.
