We had originally split it seven ways, one part for each of us, one part for the whole party goods (wands, food etc) and one part for the fort. We still have a lot invested in the fort, (over 5,000 gp. if I remember correctly) so we were going to give 'the fort's portion' to Marthek this time, and then divide it by eight from here on out.

Tomorrow night I will scrub the recent posts for your requests for crafting and create a rough schedule. I will include costs and timeline, but you probably already know how to calculate (Alana will not charge for her services other than the actual costs, she feels it is part of her contribution to the team). If you want a snazzy item, feel free to role play the acquisition of said snazzy item to be made magical in our visit to town...

edit: Also I adjusted 'the sale items' to fit the profile you pointed out in our last discussion. I don't think I have anything on the 'items for sale list' now that will be an issue.

As for the bag of holding. The one we have carries 30 cubic ft. and 250 lbs. I'm concerned that we regularly go over the weight limit. I would think another small bag of holding, paid for out of the 'group funds,' would make sense.

There is a higher chance of failure than rolling a 1 for the bag of holding (she will need a 5 or better), should we proceed with the attempt? If we do, I recommend going for the type II which is twice as large as the one we have and we can commit the other one to holding our food and have this one for treasure. As we consume our food, the other one can also hold more treasure.

Alana's base Spellcraft is 16+d20 and you all can see the DCs above, so for the most part, she will only fail if she rolls a 1 (due to campaign rules regarding skill rolls). Alana will cover costs for her failures (assuming she has no more than one or she may not get to attempt her item) except on the party item (she already contributed toward that). As each PC agrees to this proposal, she will roll her craft in the game thread and she will be unavailable for the number of days listed for each item crafted.

Alana, I'm good with doing whatever you think is best. I had the group paying for two more wands and Elathras paying for the bag. if you want to make it a type 2 that's fine but we need to get the money from some where. As for failures I'm happy to eat the cost of mine, or split it with you. If you think we should hold off on the bag of holding that's fine.

How much is the bag? If food is becoming an issue, we could get a sustaining spoon. It is 2700 to craft.

cost to craft: the type 1 bag 1,250 gp. type 2 bag 2,500 to craft. Elathras calculated the cost of a type one bag from his personal expenses, but doesn't have enough for a type 2.

The problem is I ordered the food with out really thinking about space in the bags. A type one bag has 30 cubic foot which I miscalculated the size.

they don't give a volume for the food, they just give a weight. I would think that should be the limiting factor. You could field strip them like MREs and have them in their individual pieces in there so space is not really the issue. IMHO

the food and the wands were taken from the 'group cut.' since we originally broke it down into seven parts instead of eight, we made Marthek's 'cut' the share we normally set aside for the building project. Previously we had divided by eight anyway, after this we will basically be giving Marthek Mitleid's cut.

I figured elathras could pay for the bag, so we would have one bag for the group and one bag for Elathras. If we want a #2 bag of holding, Elathras will pay the 1250 for the bag he already carries and the rest of the group can split the cost remaining for the #2 bag. Unless we don't want the two new wands.

I believe Thoron had two wands of CLW already and I asked him to add the two wands of clw and one wand of restoration that was in the group inventory to his. So presently 4 clw wands and 1 wand of restoration. We may not need to order the two more that I asked for, but I'd rather have them than not.

Hey gang, sorry for my silence recently. I lost internet last Thursday and when I was catching up on everything on Monday when I got it back, I noticed I needed to ask questions about crafting before going forward with actual crafting. I have not yet heard back from the DM, but I felt I should let you all know I am still here and checking daily (now that the internet has been restored at my house; my work site has this site blocked). Acknowledge all. One follow up I forgot when I replied, Can Potent Magic Exploit be used to pimp my caster level for crafting purposes? Something along the lines of spending the reservoir point for each day of uninterrupted crafting perhaps? Might be a bridge too far, but I gotta ask.

Need to follow up with the team after a revelation:

Can anyone cast Barkskin? If not, we will need a scroll for each amulet added to the shopping list. It is a divine spell, so I will never have it in my spellbook. I am reviewing the rest of the requests for requirements that cannot be waived with the +5 to a roll and will follow up within the next day.

EDIT: That did not take as long as I thought. Alana will have to accompany the group to town. She needs to seek additional spells needed to craft some of our items. Specifically, she is going to need Cats Grace and a scroll of Secret Chest to craft the bag in addition to the Barkskin scrolls. It is likely a good idea to pick up the rest of the ability enhancing spells for future crafting use, should they be available.

Alana has brought to my attention the FAQ on magic item creation. My group has traditionally used the level requirement as an iron wall and hand waved the spellcraft rolls and not too worried about getting the required materials and equipment as a result. The problem with going by the FAQ is that you are in the middle of nowhere and getting the required tools and materials is highly problematic. So it has to be one way or another folks. These materials need to come from somewhere and Zelkor's Ferry is only a hamlet several hundred miles from the nearest town by ferry and overland.

As brv knows I know nothing about 'creating magical items' so I have no real opinion about it. I will leave the discussion to those who are informed...

That is correct. This was the point of the sisters. I gave them to offer item creation even if it is at cost. They are not in the module.

So you go into Pye's and you ask for 630 trail rations.

After he picks himself off the floor, he says that will be two weeks to order that much! He has the 30!
